Shaking her head, she took a seat next to him. "Training younglings? Are you sure they'll survive it? Considering what I saw from Anya in our little spar a few years ago, I'd imagine they're having a rough time."
As she spoke Anya's name, the memory of that little spar and the feelings that came with it rose in her slightly. She had started to grow passed her simple feelings of jealousy and hatred towards other women, especially now that she was able to to utilize the darkness freely now, but some of those feelings remained. If anything, she wanted to face Anya once more to show her and herself how much she had grown since then and put it to bed permanent. "So, where's Anya? I'm surprised she's not with you."

Gavin gave a chuckle as Luxeria spoke. "The younglings are doing just fine. After all, Anya was only ten when I started training her. And you have already gotten a glimpse of what she could do." He had caught Luxeria's little batch of feelings for his former apprentice just in the spar alone. But he wanted to make sure that she knew that she barely saw anything in those moments. He didn't want her thinking that was all to his adopted daughter. But at the same time, secretly, he hoped to draw her in by that knowledge to train her as well. He wanted to see how she had been progressing and wanted another person, someone further along than Nidana, to come under his tutelage so to show how effective his methods were.
"As for where she is, I'm not actually sure. She had join the Imperial Knights, as you know. When the Empire was dissolved, she went with the Emperor to Muunilinst and became part of the First Order. I was there with her during the initial battles and set up before leaving. But I haven't felt her presence in a long while. I know she isn't dead, but I suspect she's gone into hiding for some reason or another."

"I see. That's good to hear. Can't have much of a growing order if you are breaking the up and coming Sith."
She didn't need to urging from Gavin to stir her mind about training. The idea had been quietly placed there ever since seeing Anya. At the time, there wasn't enough to fully grasp what he could teach her, but when he gave her his memories, then showed up on Eriadu and helped her develop a bit into the Makashi form, she knew he had lots that could be taught to her. "Could you teach me the way you taught Anya?"

Gavin turned to Luxeria as she asked her question. She didn't hesitate, and the time it took to ask, was a bit surprising. It meant that she already had the mind to ask, should she ever run into him again. And at the mention of training younglings, it meant she knew that he was here for the long haul and could dive into regular sessions. The firmness in her question showed that she had a continuing desire to learn and grow.
Learning of how the Blackguard came to be and Malvus's ascension to second in command next to the Sith'ari. No doubt her training has started to slow in the passed months. The driven apprentice would only handle so much neglect for so long. Luxeria had already shown herself to be this way when switching from her previous master. However, this was different. She didn't seek for him to be her new master, but merely to learn from him. It meant she had gained enough knowledge that she could go without a master and simply learn from others.
Smirking, he nodded. "Very well. I'll train you as I trained Anya and as I'm training the younglings." He then stood to his feet. "Are you ready to begin?"

Luxeria looked up to Gavin as he stood, a bit surprised that he was ready to start immediately. "Right now?"
The surprise was only there for a moment before a determined look came across her face as she nodded. Pushing herself to her feet, she spoke with the same determination. "I am ready."

Gavin nodded. "Yes, right now."
As she stood to her feet, determination across he face once again, he gave a smile. "We are going to start with the same four elements Anya began teaching you that day. So, yes, we are going to start with the very basics of combat. There are four aspects to know: evasion, blocking, counter and parries, and finally attack. Mastering the basics enhances your skills and techniques and gives you something to fall back on should you be unable use your abilities on your opponent. We will start with evasion. By now, I'm sure you know the benefits of evading enemies. You preserve energy and put yourself into positions to better attack your opponent. The more fluid your movements, the less you have to move, the better off you'll be. As with your Makashi form, balance, rhythm, and grace are key."
He then stepped out with his right footI'm going to show you a quick technique that's effective in getting around behind your opponent. It's called Kouho Haiho, or the stepping method. Stepping out, when you pivot your foot inwards, its called Kouho. When you pivot out, its Haiho. With this foot, you can redirect your weight onto it and spin around the direction its pivoted by straightening it out. " He demonstrated both forms and even used them around her to show its effectiveness. In the end, he knew Luxeria had experience, had the drive to learn, and knew many of the basic ideas he was stating. The biggest part in training her was the actual exercises themselves and getting her to where he wanted her to be. Still, he would speak and tell her the same things he did his students, just without the slower process of getting them adapted. "Just make sure of two things when performing this technique. One, be cautious of when you utilize it. Too soon and your opponent can read you and react accordingly. Too late and you can move fast enough to avoid the attack. When you become skilled in its use, you can move fast enough the seem as if you disappeared, giving you more openings and time to make a move. Secondly, don't use this move often, otherwise your opponent will pick up on it and can start sorting out when and where your moving."

Luxeria listened as Gavin spoke, her mind opened to every word. Her experiences did validate many things he said. It also seemed that, unlike the first time she attempted to learn, she had the foundations to better progress with this method. This worked to further her confidence and desire to learn. She knew she could do this and progress well.
From there, she watched as he demonstrated the stepping method to her. It seemed like a simple technique, yet she could see its effectiveness just in the movements he made. Eyes never broke contact with him or his movements, eyes and mind absorbing the knowledge.

Gavin could see her focus, how her eyes never left him. She had a true desire to learn, to grow, and to progress. She was different than many of those among the Sith. She had patience, a desire to work through the lesson and absorb every ounce of knowledge she could acquire. That state of mind would allow her to exceed the limits of most of her peers. Malvus was lucky to have gained an apprentice such as her.
After his demonstration, he figured it was time to begin the exercise. "We'll begin the exercise now. I'm going to attack you and all you are to do is evade me. The longer we go, the harder and faster I'll be. I want you to find the rhythm of your body, learn to flow from movement to the next. Relax and let the tension of anticipation or panic fade from your mind. Trust your instincts, find your calm, and stop the water. Let's begin."
Unlike with his student and Nidana, he didn't give Luxeria moment to settle herself. She knew how to jump into a fight suddenly, he suspected. If not, it was still a luxury he was not going to grant her. She'd be the hardest he push. There would be no breaks in his attacks, continually going despite her losing balance, getting hit, or even blocking. He was going to keep coming harder and harder until she was worn out, and then push her more to break passed that limit. He started off with his stronger, more aggressive form. He punched from his left than right, swiped with kicks at her chest and knees in flowing succession. Next came the uppercuts and undercuts as he pushed in, attempting to force Luxeria back, seeing how close she'd keep herself. There wasn't a lot of room on top of the wall they were on, so he expected her to drop the ground eventually, if only to give herself more room to perform.

While she heard his words, she had little time to truly take the to heart as he was on top of her, coming at her quick with powerful assaults. It was fast, but not the fastest thing she'd seen. Still, she was meant to completely evade, not block or attack. As easy as one would think of the act, it was much harder than she anticipated, her mind trained to not only evade attacks, but to stop them and make her own, pressing in to bring her opponent down. She had to completely rewire her mindset in order to fully grasp the motions needed.
Her first evasions to his coming punches were definitely sloppy, being rigid and jumpy as she forced her whole body to move out of the way. They might not have been the fastest attacks she faced, but they were flowing together in a seamless pattern, making up for that slower speed. Each punch was but a few millimeters from impacting her as she dodged. She leaned back with a slight angle in her form, altering her balance just a bit. It didn't help that she had to jump back a bit to avoid the second sweeping kick at her knees, causing her to stumble a few extra steps as Gavin's assault only pressed in on her.
It was but a small moment, but she did regain a bit of herself in the stumble before he was on her again to at least regain control f herself and shed the tension built from his sudden assault. While still rigid, the movements were smaller and found some purchase in flowing from one to another. A lean back from the uppercut while stepping back on her left foot to move her body to the side at the undercut.
Multiple times had her feet come close to the edge or slip onto a lower section of the part they were on, which, at their speed, would have sent her to the ground. She had to expand her room to maneuver, just as Gavin expected, ducking under a punch and back flipping off the protrusion they were on to the ground below. It was still a small fraction of time she had gained for herself, but she was able to breath and finally process Gavin's words. She let her arms settle as her breaths began to become easy. It still wasn't the full plane Gavin wanted from her, but she could now descend into it as the man continued to attack her, her mind and focus clearing.

Straightening himself after his last attack before her departure to the ground, he smirked down at her. She was gathering herself bit by bit as she went, letting herself grasp his words. She still had a way to go, but he knew she'd get there.
Jumping from the roof, he brought his foot down upon her, knowing it could be easily blocked, but wanted to keep things going instead of just jumping down then resuming. Changing his style, he sped up as he made jabs at Luxeria with extended fingers. Each strike seemed to refocus their direction, less for straight hits at her face or stomach and seemingly towards more sensitive spots on her body. What also changed was how the movements were made. They were fast, yes, but before some of the strikes, he left his arms back a bit as if winding up his attack which waited. It would make enemies pause slightly trying to anticipate when the attack would actually come as it was flowing in a quick successive pattern.
The barrage came upon her, a strike at her left, then right side, before a straight jab at her chest, then at her neck. Pulling both arms back, he then moved in quick to her as both hands jabbed out at her chest.

Luxeria's body took an easy stance as Gavin came down from the roof. He gaze had found a calm as he followed his movements, saw the coming downward kick. Most would have jumped back out of the way, including herself up to this point. But the mindset slowly forming in her head was changing how she saw and reacted. Instead she stepped off to her right a bit as his foot came passed her.
It wasn't even a moment more before his assault returned, now different in its chosen style. The first two attacks were strange as, while they came at her side, they had a slight curve to them so that they could impact the area around her ribs. She moved and twisted to her right, then left. She then stepped back a bit and leaned her waist back as the jab at her chest came, staying just out of range, which caused him to move in a bit for the strike at her neck, causing her to lean back. As his double strike came afterwards, she used her lean backwards to turn so she faced the ground. Her left foot slipped back and used the idea behind the Kouho Haiho for her next move. Dropping down, she put weight on her left foot and spun around behind Gavin, capable due to his movement forward. From there, she stood up behind him, ready for the next attack.

And like that, Luxeria had settled into the mindset he wanted her to get to. She let go of tension and anticipation, letting herself relax and open herself up to the flow of both her body as well as his own. Fluidity was coming into her form and he knew he could up the speed further. He also couldn't help but smirk as she suddenly dropped. While not the quickest movement, it was still relatively fast, aided in the drop to the ground, moving from his sight.
Turning, he picked up his speed as he made a swipe with his left hand, then a jab with his right. The range of his attacks increased as he made jabs at her legs, her waist, and sides once more. Occasionally, he'd add a sweep with his legs, mixing from her ankles, knees, waist, and chest. He continued to push further in his attacks, choosing to stay with his quicker forms of combat as it was the best in regards to mastering evasion. When they stepped into defense, he'd focus his attention on the stronger forms.
He kept at this for an hour, forcing her to keep evading his attacks. Occasionally, he pause for a few moments to let her catch her breath before pressing on further. The chances she'd ever face a battle that lasted more than twenty minutes was a rarity, stretching into hours nearly impossible. But this was also part of the training: to increase her endurance and stamina to outlast her opponents. By the end, she'd be tired and finding it harder to evade. He was also curious if, when she hit that point of fatigue, would her calm and focus fade and return to tension and desperation.

As Gavin's next attacks came, she ducked just under his first swipe, then lifted herself to her right to avoid his second strike. She could have simply stayed low to avoid it, but the guiding flow of her body chose this path, feeling it would allow her better movement and ability to avoid coming attacks. She was right as he started making jabs at her legs, something that would have been a tad more difficult to avoid if she was still ducked down. She continued her rightward movement as she shifted into a spin, her head staying turned towards Gavin as long as possible before finally turning to the other side to see him again. Despite her trying to navigate around him with her twirl, he was staying right with her, able to easily match her path. For the moment, she stayed on her path to her right as the jab came at her waist. She let herself turn so that when she stepped back with her left foot, it was in the direction of her right. This allowed her to bend slightly to avoid the jab before ducking under the first strike to her side as she spun around. She faced him again with the second strike at her side, stepping forward and closer to him before ducking down and backing out under the jab.
When the kicks followed in steady spins, she jumped a bit to avoid the sweep at her ankles, then before performing an aerial flip back to her left to avoid the kick at her knees. It caused her to flow into his kicks, a terrible choice overall. Avoidable, it caused a quick flare of tension as the kick at her waist came around. She stepped back with a lean to avoid it, though the movement was sharp and rigid, if not sloppy. It followed as she ended up falling back and rolling backwards to her feet after the last kick at her chest. With her focus disturbed, she had to find a way to bring it back to the calm she had before. As she avoided the next attacks with the same ugly form, it hit her. She needed to lead him in. While the goal was to stay close and keep avoid his attacks to increase her ability to do so, she knew that if she was put back into this state, she had to calm the water as he had stated. And to do that, she needed to bring the fight under her control. He might have been the one attacking, his movements might have been entirely by his choice and discretion. But she needed to lead him in to an attack that she could sync herself back into and resume her pattern and relax once again.
And that was what she did, stepping back farther out of is reach, making him come to her. After all, if she found herself in a fight like she had on Mustafar, but wasn't able to actually fight or block her opponent, she needed to draw it in while evading it only. And by doing so, she drew it in, giving the space to breath and center herself if needed while agitating it enough to keep following.
The hour did take its toll on her physical stamina. Her breaths were starting to grow heavier and her movements became sluggish and sloppy, no mater her focus. She couldn't keep up the effort much more as she expected she'd drop before he finally called it, if that wasn't the intention the entire time. He focus was shifting back and forth between calm and tension in the last bit of the hour, hints of desperation in trying to keep performing under the fatigue. It would throw her back into the movements of falling and scrambling away. At this point, gaining distance did nothing to help her, especially when he showed little signs of being tired. What kind of training had he been through to keep up the assault for this long without issues? She had to know. But for now, all she could do was everything in her remaining power to avoid his hand.

Gavin could feel it. Luxeria was on the last bit of her strength to continue. That meant it was time for the final strike. As she straightened herself from the previous attack, Gavin channeled his strength and speed into a single attack, a punch directly at her chest.
If she was unable to avoid it, she’d be feeling serious pain that might put her down for a few days. But he had confidence that she’d be able to move. Just as he had learned, just as the splits in his mind tested him to do, it all came down to this final moment. Could she summon the strength to avoid his punch when she had nothing left. Doing so meant she had broken through the barrier between levels and was capable of making an attack against him. He knew she wouldn’t but being able to move quickly and stay standing afterwards was all she needed to do.
He saw the boundaries between levels were always weak, if nonexistent, when the body was weakened or fatigued. This was one of the few location where one could progress in leaps and bounds. The problem was the kind. When exhausted the mind forced the person to stop and rest. But when pushed passed that mental limit, growth could really take place.

She didn't know how much more she could take. Her strength was wearing thin at this point as each dodge, which was becoming more rigid and sloppy by the move, was barely missing his attacks and not because she was attempting to stay that close. It was taking everything in her, fueled by sheer determination at this point, to move her body a few millimeters. If this kept up, she'd collapse under the strain or get sent flying by a hit to her face.
And sure enough, she reached her limit. Her body felt incredibly heavy and flimsy. There was no way she'd be able to avoid another hit. And she seemed locked in place, despite the fatigue, meaning she'd be taking the hit. Gavin seemed to recognize her plight as she could feel a building of strength, even a delay in his actions for a few moments. He was ready to send her to the ground, saving the greater amount of his power for when she couldn't move. With an attack like that, it was likely going to do more than hurt, but actually break some parts of her feature, a thought that she hated. Yet, she didn't even feel s if her anger or fear of being hit and seriously hurt would help her now.
But as he pulled back and began to unleash his final attack on her, something stirred within her. Yes, she had some semblance of emotion in regards to where this would end up, but it was that drive, that desire to achieve and keep pushing, the determination to show others what she could do, especially when she had nothing left. She wasn't going to simply take the hit simply because she couldn't move. She wouldn't accept it. Enemies wouldn't show her that sympathy. They'd keep going until she was out or dead. She had to make a move. even if she was hit, the act of trying to move and push passed her physical limits said more than accepting reality. And so, she focused the last glimmer of strength left in her, her will alone the last show of strength in her.
It hurt and was difficult, but as his punch came, she forced herself through, stepping forward on her right foot, letting it pivot in as she took the stance of Kouho. The first step done, she forced her weight onto the foot and spun just before his fist met her face, slipping down his arm in a somewhat quick fashion as the desperation to keep moving filled her. In the blink of an eye, she was facing Gavin's back, only a foot in front of her at most. Her mind screamed to attack him, give him some punishment for putting her through this, but refrained from doing so. She was meant only to dodge his attacks, and so, that's what she'd do. She only hoped he planned to stopped as she waited to meet his eyes with her own focused and defiant orbs.

Gavin could feel her moving down his side as she stepped around him, if he had been expecting the possibility, it would have definitely surprised him. It still had a ways to go, but it was quite swift considering, as even now, he was open for moment. If this was a real fight, her proximity and timing would have been rewarded with a simple activation of her lightsaber. Even in her tired state, she had the time to run him through.
He stood there for a moment with arm out in the punch. Finally standing, he turned to look at her with a smirk. "Very well done, Luxeria. It is here that I feel the greatest amount of progress is made. I’ve always believed that in your exhaustion, the barrier of your mind that restrict you from utilizing the full depth of your power and keeping you from progressing at exceptional rates. Usually when you are this tired, your body tells you to stop, and even if you try to push a bit further, you ultimately yield to it. But when pushed by an unrelenting force, your mind finally submits and lets you step over that boundary. Now, with a little work and recovery, you’ll find you can go a bit further than before."
Putting his hands in his pockets, he nodded. "You have done quite well tonight. Your experience tied with your open mind and desire to learn let’s you grow, learn, adapt, and progress faster than most. But that is all for tonight. Rest for now. Tomorrow, I want you to work on your balance like I showed you before on Eriadu. Push how far you can lean your body while maintaining stability. Also, move about in fluid patterns to better increase that ability. Then, the same time as tonight, meet me back here and we will continue."

As Gavin stopped, she let out a long breath, glad that the exercise had finally come to an end. She did enjoy the attention given to her, the drive to help her push and achieve new heights, but she hadn't been prepared for an hour long session of constant movement. But perhaps that was the point. She already knew that his knowledge had merit. She just had to trust his teachings and give it everything she had.
When he finally spoke, she hadn't the strength to even respond. All she could do was nod slightly as she listened to his words, topping off what they had just gone through. If anything, she had done well in his eyes for this first session. And tomorrow, it seemed he had plans to continue training her. She wouldn't decline it, but knew this level of training was going to take a new level of commitment. If the night and the promise of tomorrow was any indication, training was going to be a nearly all day, everyday affair with him. And that, she would accept gladly.
When he told her to head on and rest, she gave a nod again, before turning and making her way inside.

As Luxeria ate, she had debated where she’d go to continue with her training. She could go to the main training area within the academy, but decided against it. There was no telling what classes were taking place there, or if Gavin, himself was in the middle of his class. She doubted he’d be distracted by her and suspected it would be she who’d get distracted trying to see how he taught a class.
Even if there wasn’t a class, the chances were that some were utilizing it, not allowing her the room to have some form of isolation from the others. That really only left the exterior of the academy and the training areas outside. Luckily, as she walked out into one of the areas, none appeared to be around. That thought was a relief.
Moving to the center of the area, she began to run through some stretches to get started. True, she’d never get the chance to stretch before engaging an enemy, doing so any other time helped to keep one limbered up so that it would be an issue in the field. It would also allow her meal to settle before she got into anything truly strenuous.

With a solid ten minutes spent stretching, Luxeria felt nice and loose. Standing to her feet, she began working on her balancing exercises. As Gavin instructed and as she had in the early days of her training in the Makashi form, also due to Gavin's instructions, she began to bend and push herself bit by bit, swaying from side to side and back and forth, both slowly picking up speed as well as leaning further and further until she reached as far as she could before feeling she'd begin to fall off balance. It was this point she kept herself, only going further when she felt she could.
After ten minutes of this particular exercise, she began to change it up by twisting herself into more awkward positions that she could possibly end up in, twisting her legs in strange directions, leaning with the twists, almost as if she was about to go into a spin. She kept up the earlier approach with speed and pushing the limit. Through all of this, she worked to flow smoothly between each stance, looking to improve upon that aspect as well.

She pushes in these patterns for a solid thirty minutes before finally stopping for a break. The constant steady flow, despite how well she flowed through her movements, coupled with the speed took its toll on her energy. By without Gavin there to push her beyond, she submitted to the starting fatigue. She could now see what he meant when talking about the power the mind had over the body. But at the same time, she still wasn’t pushed to her limit yet so much as she just wanted a quick break before starting on the next session. It would be here she’d try to go for another hour if possible.
Once she felt like she was ready, she began to flow through evasive techniques, flowing from side to side, up and down, as well as back and forth. She kept it simple for a few minutes before picking up the pace and intensity. This included movements that would move her around her invisible opponent, both in a slow circle as to lead them around as well as the stepping method for sudden switches, adding in her own flairs to keep the movement fresh. Even flips of varying styles were added. Whatever it took to take her evasion skills to their peak.
