Darkness.
Everlasting darkness.
It spread as far as he could see.
And there was nothing he could do.
Darkness eternal.
For an moment to the living was an eon to him. For a breath for the living was the full spectrum of life to him. For a drop of blood was an entire civilization to him.
He was in communion with all that had come before and all that would come after.
He was dead.
