The Jedi Archives was a fathomless collection of ancient knowledge and research dating back thousands of standard years. Overseen by the Council of First Knowledge, the Archives served as a repository for journals and artifacts. Located in the First Knowledge quarter of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the Archives was open at all hours and were accessible to all Jedi in need of information. While Jedi were welcome to scan or copy most any data in the Stacks, removal of any material from the Archives was strictly prohibited. Remote access to the databases was near impossible, with eradicators built into the Temple's outer walls and firewalls in the database mainframes.

Jedi Master Shey Thuru slid a datacard out of the holoscreen, placing it on the top of a stack of close to thirty cards. He had been scrolling through various archives for what seemed like days before finally running across two sentences in a very old report that caught his attention. They could likely mean nothing, but something told him to follow it. He did not argue with the ways of the Force. He held up the small piece of flimsi he had written the sentences on, reading over them one more time.
"After having questioned the prisoner, he added a declaration which we were later unable to recieve any more information on; it is as follows: One day he will come for you all, like a nightmare from the shadows, and consume us all."
He folded the piece of flimsi before placing it in one of his robes inner pockets. He learned the prisoner, which was mentioned, had been interrogated on Yavin IV. He had never been to the sister temple there before, but it was time he paid it a visit. At the very least they might have some more detailed transcripts of the questioning not detailed in the report regarding the declaration. If not, perhaps there was someone there who had bared witness to the events. Either way, he knew his next stop was Yavin. Soon he would find out just who this dark figure was. With that in mind, he headed for the temple hangars.

It was so quiet. It was amazing that a place so filled with people and knowledge could have such a heavy feeling of solitude. Anywhere else it would be oppressive, but here it felt right...almost soothing. Yet it left Bo with nothing but her thoughts, and her thoughts were anything but comforting. Her Master was dead, and she was haunted by not knowing why, or who killed him. She had come here for the report on his murder, hoping that she could find something, anything that the investigators had missed.
Blood, so much blood...how could a body contain so much blood? His eyes were open, glazed but staring with a intensity directly at her. They seemed pleading, like they were waiting for an answer that would never come. His body lay a few feet away, his robes torn and burnt like he had been in a battle before his death and yet his head wasn't severed cleanly. The wound was jagged, unlike any made by a lightsaber...or any weapon she had encountered in her years as a padawan. The smell, she didn't know death had a smell, it was bitter and acrid...not unlike a candle that had recently been snuffed out...
Bo shook her head, her eyes opening. She pushed the memories back down, remembering that day would do her no good right now. Yet the more she pushed them away the harder they came back, the images tormenting her whenever she closed her eyes. She glanced .down at the holopad she had been staring at for hours, the wall of text offering her no new clues. There were no leads, no evidence, the area was wiped clean...it was like he was killed by a ghost. A small sound of irritation left her mouth as she roughly pushed back her chair from the table. The sound echoed loudly inside the silence of the archives, and people turned to stare at her. She felt heat rise in her cheeks, she hated drawing attention to herself, and those looks. Some questioning, others looking at her like she should be ashamed. She was ashamed. She had let him down, the one person who ever treated her like an equal and not inferior lay dead and she was helpless to find him justice.
She sunk back down into her chair and buried her face in her hands, a small whisper of "sorry" leaving her lips.

Jedi Master Nemo was not in a friendly mood. He could be prickly at the best of times but recently events in his life had soured even his good days. His pace was brisk and his manner determined as he walked down the main steps into the Archives. He had no power of the events surrounding the loss of his strike team but he could at least have some answers in the matter of the death of his friend, Master Lorne. Lorne and Nemo had been friends during their time as younglings and had managed to keep in touch over the years, though sometimes very infrequently. No sooner had Nemo returned from his failed mission that saw his team lost, and the enemy with the upper hand, he found out Lorne had been murdered. There was no other information on the matter except the report stored within the Jedi Archives. So here he was, striding towards the head Librarian with a stern look and many questions. How had Lorne died? How had he died and where could he find the being responsible. Vengeance was not on his mind, it would not do for a Jedi to think such thoughts however, justice was.
"Excuse me, can you point me in the direction of the personnel files? I am looking for the records of a friend, a Jedi Master named Lorne." The Librarian seemed slightly startled at the sudden question, she had been speaking to a youngling only moments before. She regained her composure as she cleared her throat, speaking in a rather upper-class Coruscanti accent. "The file you seek is currently being viewed by another." The Librarian turned towards where Isabo Vera was sitting, pointing directly at the young Padawan. "I do believe she is still looking it over!" Why would anyone be looking over the report into Lorne's death? Was she involved? Almost certainly but Nemo would need to find out more before jumping to any kind of conclusion.
His stern demeanour did not change as he walked his scowling face over towards Isabo. He slowed his pace to observe and learn what he could about someone who at least had one interest aligned with his own. She seemed sad but that would be obvious for someone looking over any report into someone's death. However she also seemed frustrated by something, slouching and placing her head in her hands gave that one right away. Maybe there was evidence linking her to the murder in the files? Nemo would need to be quick but tactful. "Good day to you young Padawan, my name is Master Nemo and I do believe you are looking at the only copy of something I too need to read. Would you mind if I sat with you?" He spoke calmly, wiping away most of his scowl before he opened his mouth and gestured to the chair next to Isabo, it was currently unoccupied.

Bo was lost in her misery when she sensed someone approaching. She didn't move, hoping whomever it was would see her closed off body language and leave her alone. Yet they came closer, and she heard them come to a stop beside her. She looked up as he spoke, and her eyebrows momentarily shot up in surprise when he announced himself to be a Master before she gained control of herself and wiped her face into a neutral expression again. He gestured to the chair next to her, and she nodded, pushing the holopad towards him.
She was incredibly curious as to what this man, Master or no, wanted with Lorne's case file. She watched him carefully as she crossed her arms over her chest, she was suspicious of anyone she didn't know, and this man was not only a stranger, but a stranger who was curious about her murdered Master. She debated telling him who she was, but decided to play it coy for now until she figured out his intentions.
Are you an investigator in this case?
She had a very cautious tone to her voice, and she mentally cursed herself when she heard a small waver in it. She sounded almost scared, and she hated it. She wasn't doing a good job presenting a strong face to this suspicious stranger.

Nemo sat in the chair and slid the datapad offered to him closer, stopping so far as to pick it up. The girl immediately adopted very defensive body language, her folded arms screamed that the girl was hiding something already. The Jedi Master had to be calm and he sat forward to read from the datapad. The girl asked if he was an investigator, another clue. She did not just ask why he was interested in Lorne or who he was but asked a leading question with a slight waver. Nemo almost thought this was too easy, there is no way someone this guarded could have infiltrated the Jedi temple without being a friend to the Jedi. Nemo placed the datapad back down on the table just in front of him, he only had time to ready the one paragraph but it did say that his friends death was unresolved.
"I am not an investigator, Master Lorne was my friend and I want to find out how he died. May I ask what your interest in the case is?"
Nemo neither slouched nor did he sit forward as he spoke but protrayed an air of calm, he hoped. While Nemo was initially cautious and almost suspicious of the girl in the beginning he had decided that lying would only get him found out and cause more problems. If the girl were a suspect, he would not catch her lying. The truth always came out and it might foster some openness in the guarded soul before him.

Isabo was still suspicious of the man when he pulled the holopad closer to himself and browsed its contents briefly. He seemed very calm, strangly so for someone looking into a murder...unless murder was something he was accustomed to. That meant he was either a murderer, or an investigator in her mind since those were the only two reasons she could think of why he would be acting so serene in the face of a grisly crime.
He spoke then and Bo blinked rapidly at the words he said, trying to process them. A friend of Lorne? Her Master never mentioned him, or any friends really and she would like they were close enough that he would have. So she waited a few beats, an uncomfortable silence between them as he waited for her answer and she decided on the best answer.
Strange since I am his padawan and he never mentioned you
Her eyes were hard and cold as she looked at him, her mind racing with all the worst case scenarios in her mind. Was this the murderer? Was she sitting across from Lorne's killer? Would this man now try and kill her now that he knows who she is? She strangely didn't feel fear, just anger and adrenaline.

A Padawan? Nemo and Lorne had been out of touch for a long time! There was a way of explaining that without mentioning what Nemo had been doing all this time but unfortunately the Jedi could not think of it right now. Honesty would have to win out again but only as much as he could, most of his actions over the past few years were highly classified.
"Lorne and I were at the Academy together, we kept in contact but our paths separated and it became increasingly difficult to maintain any level of contact. I last spoke with him about three years ago, he made no mention of any Padawan then and you seem a little old to have just started training. You know my name but may I ask yours?"
Nemo felt the tension surrounding this conversation increase by a noticeable amount for some reason, both parties were on edge. Nemo leaned almost imperceptibly forward, he was eager to know more about this girl who might have information about Lorne. Maybe not information about his death but what he had been up to for the last three years. Nemo had cared about Lorne about as much as any Jedi could do for a friend and his interested had been sparked.

Bo's tension eased slightly with the Jedi Master's words. Something in them rang true to her, even if she was slightly off put that Lorne hadn't mentioned him in the past...but she comforted herself by explaining it off as part of her former Master's technique to put the young insecure girl Bo was when she first met him, herself a loner with no connections, at ease. It only increased the affection Bo had for him, and the pain she felt over his untimely death.
Her eyes traveled up Nemo's form, now with eyes unclouded with suspicion she took him in. He looked younger than Lorne, and his features were harsher than his were. This Master looked hardened by something, whereas Lorne always presented a expression of gentle openness to the world. Yet, far from frightening Bo, this stern demeanor almost fascinated her. She took a deep breath, the last of her tightly wound tension leaving her as she spoke.
"My name is Isabo Vera, Master Lorne called me Bo. I in fact joined my Master....former Master about 3 years ago myself, so I assume shortly after you last spoke..."
While no longer suspicious her voice trailed off and her head cocked slightly to the left as she found herself wondering what exactly this man knew of Lorne's death, and what clues he might possibly hold into who killed him
"While we are asking questions, I have another for you. Or rather...several questions wrapped into one. What do you know about Lorne's...murder."
Saying that word still hurt her, it was what happened but the world itself seemed so harsh. It left a taste it her mouth that she didn't like, but it seemed like lying to say his death when they both knew the truth of it.

Nemo smiled at Isabo, confident he had discovered all he needed to know to feel comfortable. Recently Nemo was very quick to suspect someone of something, anything at the slightest hint of a doubt, sometimes less than that! However in this case his instincts told him that Isabo was being genuine about he relationship with Lorne. As Isabo relaxed so did Nemo, allowing the tension out of his shoulder muscles which had been ready to defend against any aggressive move.
"I know nothing about the mysterious circumstances which surround your masters death, this is what I have come to Coruscant to find out. I assume that you know almost as much as I do about the subject, can you tell me anything that isn't in the report?"
Having help in his investigation would be of great help to Nemo. It was always good to bounce ideas off of someone else's mind. However this rather open venue would not do at all, Nemo looked around at the comings and goings of the Jedi in the temple. He didn't trust them.
"Perhaps we should continue this conversation in a more private setting, there could be unwelcome eyes and ears even here!" Nemo gestured for Isabo to get up and lead them to a smaller room or a corridor off to the side of the main archive room.

Nemo smiled at her and Bo felt herself warming up slightly to the Jedi Master, if Lorne had trusted him she knew he must have had a reason. However when he said he knew nothing of Lorne's death she felt the small sliver of hope she had allowed to grown when she learned of his connection to Lorne fade quickly, and she let out a sigh of disappointment. He asked her if she knew anything more, and her dark brown eyes filled with regret that she didn't, she was about to say so when he spoke again...wisely realizing that this was not a secure place for such a sensitive topic. He gestured for her to stand, and the slender girl did, following him to a smaller side room. It was even quieter in here, and the close quarters allowed her to observe Nemo more carefully. He looked at the same time younger and older than Lorne, his eyes looked haunted and aged him...but his facial features were sharp and made him look younger. He had a naturally brooding expression, like a great weight rested on his shoulders at all times. She found him attractive in his own way, but in her life there was no room for such petty things as crushes or attraction.
She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, focusing her mind as she let her thoughts go back to her memories of that day...comparing it to the report to identify anything she might know that could help. Yet, she had told the investigators all she knew, so she didn't have anything substantial to offer this Master...but she did have something less substantial she didn't tell them.
"He was nervous. I had never seen him nervous about anything before, I didn't even notice it or think anything of it until I found his....I found him. Then I realized why when he took longer than usual to return I was worried, I was worried because I sensed that something about this, whatever he was doing, was different. It was important to him, and I wish now I had asked him, or done anything other than just stay on the ship while he went out there and was, was, murdered."
Bo's face fell and she closed her eyes tightly to stop the stinging sensation she felt that signaled tears, she had cried enough over this already, her tears would change nothing.

Nemo rose from his seat and took the datapad with Lorne's report on it with him. He walked swiftly across the room to the more private side rooms, quickly entering one and closing the door. He put the datapad on the table and slouched in his seat as Isabo spoke. It was clear she had told everything to the investigators but sometimes it was the things that are dismissed as insignificant that can turn a case around. What was Lorne so nervous about?
"Calm yourself child, we have work to do, questions that need answers and we can't do that here! Has the Council assigned you something here on Coruscant? If not then I think we have somewhere else to be!"
A plan was forming in Nemo's mind, one that the council would not like one bit. It would step all over their investigation and would probably break a few rules, not to mention Nemo and Isabo flying under the sensors for a bit. He loved it but he'd need to convince Isabo, though if it answered questions about Lorne he suspected that wouldn't be too difficult.

Bo blinked rapidly at Nemo's question, quite surprised that there was a "we". She expected him to take the info she had to give, look at the report and then leave her.
"No, I am not assigned to anything. I think in the middle of all this the council has yet to get around to remembering me. I was here for the same reason you are, answers. Since I haven't found any I am not opposed to leaving, but where did you have in mind to go?"
She wasn't afraid to go anywhere with Nemo, she oddly trusted him, but she also didn't want to get into too much trouble with the Jedi order. She had nowhere else to go if they disowned her, both her parents had died while she was in training as well as her only other relative, a younger brother. She had gotten over their loss, since when they died she hadn't seen them in years...but it still meant she was an orphan with no idea how to live if she wasn't a Jedi.

*Octavious enters with his hood up. He had heard about how immense the archives were. Too bad he didn't see like others do. Octavious is a Miralukan, he sees through the force. Still all this knowledge here still pulses. As if it has a life to itself. Octavious walks onto the main floor area, looking for something to pass the time. Information on the juyo/vaapad form. Since he couldn't see the info, he had to listen intently to the words after he is helped to the information. Normally, such information wouldn't be handed out to any who ask, but Octavious was a Baran Do Sage. He radiated an inner aura of serenity. When he is handed his info, he takes a seat and listens intently until he is to meet with Adieumus Matango. The time will come soon.*

Post by Archetheus on Jun 15, 2013 12:59:36 GMT -8
He stepped into the Archives, anyone looking at him would first notice that his robes were old and very much raggedy. After all he did take it off an eight hundred year old skeleton, time had worn the fabric and if there was any representation of what his mind would look like, it was these ragged robes he wore. His personality seemed odd for one who looked so young, a personality like your war veteran grandfather. One who is weary of the fight, but the only difference between Arc & an old guy is that he intends on continuing the fight. What were his intentions here in these archives, he could read up the last eight hundred years, maybe become a Jedi to. He has the state of mind to be one, like wise sage. Though he choses not to be the one who provides guidance and assists the weak. Archetheus felt like he was at war, a one man war. But this war had ended the moment the Maycry crash landed and killed all of his enemies, so what do you do when all of your enemies are long gone and your war has only begun.
He approached a young man wearing glasses, reaching for something exceeding his physical height. Arc removed his hand from out under these robes and levitated the book off the shelf and into the grip of the boy, this nearly startled him. Until he thought of what just happened, he looked to the man, first looking at his robes then to his face. He touched the rim of his glasses and pushed them up on his nose when he approached this stranger. The moment you start thinking outside the box.. Arc said, while he planted his finger against the side of his head. You'll become much taller then you appear to be.
The boy smirked and nodded, most of the information within these archives were data. These books must be old then, older then Archetheus even. He took note of the symbol on the front of the book realizing it was the symbol of the Empire. You must be wondering why a Jedi padawan is interested in the greatest threat of our time huh.. The boy grew quiet, slightly relieved with the mans reaction though he did not know yet what he would say.
Personally i think it would be foolish to keep such information from the young. Arc reached out and took the book, he looked it over. Looked up to the Padawan and smirked when he handed it back to him. Maybe it was the way Jedi wanted things these days, to prevent the young from growing in fear. Keeping even the darkest secretes from Jedi could provoke a spark of curiosity in later years of training. Do what you think is right boy..
Maybe this was not wise, whoever his master was would most likely not approve of Arcs guidance. Are you a new Jedi master or somethin, i haven't seen you around here or anything before..
He shook his head then looked about his surroundings, he knew his old friend was still alive. He was only young when Arc left the Jedi Order to care for his pregnant wife, until the brotherhood took all of that away from him, eight hundred years and he's back, here. No. I am not, in fact I am seeking out a Jedi Master who should be here somewhere in this temple. Last i heard he was studying the ways of a Jedi Sentinel. Small green guy, long ears?
Now Arc was certain this boy knew who he spoke of with his reaction after he explained the appearance of this Jedi master. You speak of Master Yol-Ki Re'll. He should be...looking for me actually. Since I'm suppose to be training with him... He let out an awkward chuckle. So yeah.
Arc nodded. Well I'll give you a good explanation. Continue with your...studies. Young Padawan, I need to have a word with old Yolki.
He left the boy to do what he intended on doing, the little green species is this Yol-Ki Re'll, though Arc use to call him just Yolki. They were friends back in the day, and now he must be old. Probably eight hundred-thirty years old. Arc himself was thirty before he was frozen. He left the Archives in search of this Jedi.

*Octavious Continues to read. The re-channel force conduit of battlemind coupled with the tampered aggression makes it feed into itself. Octavious smiles. He hears Masters giving lectures to their padawans. It wasn't long ago when he went through the same thing. All things good or bad come to an end. Octavious continues with research, he has time to kill after all. And bad news to give to a good person.*

"We'd need to be quick, the trail grows cold even as we speak. My ship is docked in one of the hanger bays below the temple, we should head there as soon as possible." It wasn't obvious to Bo, out of all the places she wanted to go Malastare was NOT one of them. The last time she had been there had been when she discovered Lorne murdered...so needless to say it wasn't a place of fond memories. She nibbled the inside of her lip nervously as Nemo moved towards the door, her feet glued to the floor in apprehension. He stopped and turned to her, and his words were logical and she knew he had a point...but she did not want to relive a journey to that place. Yet, she had no choice. Perhaps Nemo would see something she didn't, or he would help her see something she hadn't...either way she knew they needed to go. She swallowed down her feelings and stood up from the table, walking towards him as he walked away, following him. She sensed his excitement, and that was a unexpected emotion for him to be feeling. Perhaps he was expecting answers, maybe he though she was inept and had overlooked something? That thought filled her with irritation, she had searched the scene thoroughly and didn't like that he seemed to think she missed something. She didn't say anything, regardless of her feelings he outranked her as a Master and she had no place to question him. He wasn't her master but that didn't matter. For now she was his companion in his search for answers and as such, she would bite her tongue..for now.

"Right then, my ship is docked in bay 94."
Nemo pushed the door open and slipped the datapad with Lorne's file on inside his robes, unseen to all but Isabo. He walked quickly, as if anxious to get started, not thinking about Bo's feelings on the subject. Her feelings on resolving this mystery would far out-strip any discomfort she felt now. His path took him back through the main archives though he adeptly avoided eye contact and unwanted conversations, at least he hoped he had.....
