So before I post Bacca let me see if I understand the concept of the Ionite missiles. The are able to penetrate shields and somehow using space age tech disable the shield (its said on the wookiee) and then the seismic missiles go boom destroying much of the city.

Ionite cased missiles that have void-7 seismic charges for warheads, the casing allows them to pass through shields
concussion missile for the planetary cannons. Where are they located anyways?
Post coming up Gabe.

Xeo, I do not know about the disabling part, but they do pass through shields.

So the function of the Ionite in your missiles is more like an Ionite Edge wrather than a missile using Ionite as an explosive? Thats what I am getting from what you are saying at least.

Well, I will definitely be on the ground. Probably deployed in force. Other then that, a few of my ships aren't going to be destroyed. All the fighters, GAT-12's and Firesprays are expendable. The Lucrehulk is also expendable. The Venator, Vic II's and Marauders are not up for complete destruction, but can be damaged and broken. I would still like to be able to limp them away afterwards.

Sounds swell. I'll keep posting at least one more in orbit from surviving defense guns and some more posts on the ground from Imperial Military Bunkers and the like, readying themselves for planetary invasion.
I have no idea where the anti-orbital canons are, but in the spirit of the SL you can just RP their location and their explosion/destruction.
Again, as Dragus mentioned, this fight needs to be as even or as close to uneven in favor of the IR as possible. It's nice to pillage a planet but I think it's important to keep a siege-like scenario in order to capture your fleet between the planet's guns and open space.
In order to justify the travel time for the Imperial Fleet which would take at least a day or two (I hypotheize that from a poor knowledge of hyperspace travel) I think it would be in everyone's best interest to make a few more bombardment posts that are ineffective against the planetary shield or perhaps damage it in such a way that the shield can no longer be lowered and raised to accomodate the anti-orbital canons? That would mean our guns can't return fire, yet the city is still impervious to bombardment, forcing you to land troops and draw things out till our counter attack arrives

Makes sense. I don't know much about star wars tech, but I assume the city shield operates the same as gungan one in the Phantom Menace. It'll block anything rapid (lasers & projectiles) but slow moving objects like a line of B1s can walk through it.

They actually operate in the same way as a capital ship's shields work. But if we say the shield over Prak City was a Theater Shield, the same idea applies.

Actually, now I am not sure. I was basing my assumption on Xeonon's second post since that's where they were covered, but nothing states that they were in the city (despite being on the thread) just that two out of three survived. I never said in my initial arrival and attack post that I was specifically aiming for the city, that didn't happen until the second, so they could be outside.
Whatever works best, I guess. Gunna leave that up to the defenders.

We're going to work our way through the city before getting to the tomb, so that's probably a good idea. In my next set of posts I'll be landing with critters in tow.
