Greetings, Jedi vs. Sith.
I am Casten Lorsa, Lorrdian Jedi Initiate / Padawan. I am looking for a Master, or academy to train with and guide me in my journey toward the Light. Please do contact me if your organization / planet / temple / academy would take this one on.
With thanks,
Lorsa

Welcome to the site, Casten.
You'll find that the Jedi Order here has United into a rather large, galactic-spanning Organization with multiple "homeworlds" on Corellia, Yavin IV, Ossus, Felucia and, of course, Coruscant. Starting at any of those places would be more than fine, though I'd have you be aware that Yavin IV is about to come under a Mandalorian Siege that will trap most of those on the moon, so, if you plan to begin there ... Just take notice of that fact.
Can you tell me a little bit more about your character? I may be able to help you out with who you should get in contact with and where to start, that way.

Master Pulastra, *nods slightly* Many thanks for information and the welcome.
*ooc* I'm not entirely certain where I'd like to take this character, yet. I'm a veteran JvS'er, though I rarely if ever RP a Jedi. I can tell you that I'm a serious poster, and I am truly interested in making the most of my first foray into writing a young Jedi, with much to learn. I'm happiest when there's lots to do, and much to keep a writer posting and driving plot forward, so I'm certainly not opposed to being on Yavin IV, but I am aware that there has been a lengthy 'sign-up' process, and I don't want to insinuate myself into a situation that's already brimming with writers. In reality, I'm happy to write anywhere, in any situation, but I would really like to be part of an active team (academy with plenty of active writers) or partnership (Master / apprentice role.) I'm looking forward to being guided toward being a fully-fleshed-out Jedi, as I purposefully left this PC with lots left to learn, and holes in his knowledge and personality, which I'll fill in as the character develops.
At this point, he's kind of a blank canvas.

Blank canvases are good: much better to grow into something then let yourself be stuck with rigidity clinging onto a plan of sorts. Yavin IV and Corellia are pretty large academies, and they'll have plenty of teaching and learning opportunities throughout them. Serrin Roma, Will Son'Tir, and Mike Frantz is the trio to contact if you'd like to get in with their lot. Good folks. For Yavin IV, that'd be myself, Dav Man'Sell, Ronan Starflare, and Zuli Madoon (though I'm not sure ... if he's on the site yet ...). The Jedi Council OOC Thread in the JvS RP topic has pretty much become our informal coordination point for now, and is filled with tons of Jedi Writers to get in touch with if there's anyone there that piques your interest. I don't know of anyone specifically looking to take a Padawan at this time, that'd be something I'd have to check. This thread is also one I'd recommend checking out and posting on: consider it a "roster" of sorts of all the current members of The Order, showing where their strengths lay: that may give you an idea of who you would like to work with more closely (somebody that has a talent or Force Power you'd like to pursue, or even just similar ideologies). Coruscant will also begin to see a larger writing base, now that it's been formally set up and we'll be using it as sort of the "Home Base" for all Jedi, everywhere. So that's always an option as well, but it may be slow to start with.

Again, thanks Master Pulastra. I hope to see you IC, soon. Perhaps I will petition the Masters of Yavin IV as you suggest. Or Coruscant... always an interesting locale.

Another suggestion I might have is: if you say you are an experienced and revered PC in another piece of our beloved galaxy, then you must have opinion or preference of prominent jedi writers that you would have probably seen. I would say PM him/her/them and ask if you can join in. Don't flirt with the whole bar when you already have your eye on who you want to take home. ;-)

Not a bad idea, Master Sontir... however, who's to say that one of my other PC's isn't already interacting with my preferred Jedi IC, and I'd like to test the waters amongst others whom I've never had the pleasure of writing alongside -- due to lack of common ground? There are many who frequent boards I've never visited... and though I am known and experienced (I think revered might be going a bit far) I think it would be a bit presumptuous of me to just PM a writer I really don't know and expect preferential treatment.
Still... I might put out some feelers.

just a suggestion.

...and a good one at that. However, of the Jedi I know and would ask on JvS, some are not yet fully active on this site (Kel'Al) and many more who I know are famed are otherwise busy (Starflare, Roma) and / or I haven't read much of their backstory, so I'm left with either an awful lot of reading to do on 1.5 archive, or simply testing the waters, and seeing how it goes.
But I do appreciate the idea. *nods*

I assume that progression in training would be a combination of IC experiences, missions and OOC passage of time. I'm actually not overly keen on the idea of RP'ing out sitting in the library, or a long IC lightsaber battle vs. remotes.
I would assume that some 'training' is done through careful passage of time and IC interactions that are actually interesting to write.
Am I wrong?

That's because Jedi are in this season Xeo. And I would love to help you out Casten, but honestly I don't think I would be able to put up the activity that you are looking for. RL hops in my way a lot and I'm move of a slow rp sort of guy at the moment. Although Corellia has always been quite good at running around and helping out new people, although again, most of us are the slow and steady type.

Perhaps my definition of 'quick' or 'in the thick of it' differs slightly from yours, Master Frantz. I mean that I am willing and capable (barring unforseens with work and RL -- that happens to everyone) of putting up a few really good posts a week. With my other groups of writers, I tend to be the one waiting three, four weeks for a reply. Anything faster than that is 'fast' by my experience.
So I think you're more than capable, Master -- by that token. But I understand. I'll go where I'm asked to go.

ok -- still 'looking for a home.'
If finding a Master or Knight to train me is unattainable, could I have the permission of some Jedi enclaves / academies to approach as a place to begin my IC journey?
