As far as fleet allocation goes for me I like the new point system, and as someone who has not formed a fleet yet, there is one slight concern I wished to raise with you fine folks.
As far as the larger/capital ships go, everything is fine and I got to fill up points easily. The Fighters is what I am having trouble with.
I understand the three class system well enough but when looking at Wookiepedia, some ships have a heavy instead of a light class(Myself and Corr were mystified at the Sith Fighter being a prime example, to which he has edited back to light like the good trooper he is).
Would it be an idea to list each fighter model/type in a JVS Wiki/thread, and decide once and for all via the Players Guild what the class should be athen lock the page and be done with it?
Since Wookie can be edited by anyone at anytime, Person A could choose an amarda of Light classed ships and be within our point limit one day and then be caught by someone editing Wookie to make it a heavy, essentialy buggering their fleet-list and forcing them to start again. Again Person B could edit Wookie to read a Heavy class to a Light and make a magical planet-busting swoop bike.
Heres hoping you guys are thinking what I am.
Archer/Kestral.
P.s: Now thinking about it, this system could be used for all fleet-type craft and Ground forces too, More time and effort but we can all contribute.

So... If I understand this right, you're suggesting that JvS allocate its own distinctions to ships, (In this case fighters)? Why stop there? Why not have a thread up where we list the viable ships and their designations? Its a lot of work but it would also eliminate a lot of confusion and a lot of problems. I mean, you could address all sorts of issues with this. There a freighters around that can slap down a Frigate because they have "Modified" in their description. I don't care how "Modified" a YT-2000 is it can NOT sport 10 turbolasers, a Mass driver, Hangar bay and a burger stall.
Its a big ask to bring every class of ship over and keep them honest but its worth looking at. Perhaps start with the fighters as its pretty easy just to assign them the appropriate class. Then perhaps expand on it over time. It seems apparent, during the early stages of the same chat day with AK, that a lot pf people actually don't know much about fighters so it may benefit the site to have information readily available.
*Shrugs*
Interesting thought anyway.

Apr 30, 2013 14:03:54 GMT -3 Non-Com Or'dinii said: Until the CPRS is posted, assume that most fighters are heavy(A,B,E,K,X,Y-wings; TIE Defenders, Interceptors(probably), Predators; Death Seeds; Star Vipers; Bes'uliiks; etc). As a guideline, not a rule(even of thumb), you can guess that Medium fighters are at a slight disadvantage when compared with heavies, weak shields, or weapons, a slow speed, etc. Examples might include: I-7 Howlrunners, TIE/D automated starfighter, Defenders, A-9 Vigilance, Z-95 Headhunters, Cloakshapes, etc. Light Fighters would largely rely on numbers to bring victory in a dogfight, possibly including things like TIE Fighters, most Uglies, and other lightly armed, unshielded and hyperdrive lacking fighters.
DISCLAIMER: This is my best guess as to how the lines should fall, based off of working with the CPRS for fighters last year on 1.5 before I retired as a councilor. My guess is NOT final, and is subject to interpretation, but it's the best I can do at the moment.

Friends,
Sorry for the slow response, but we are looking into ways to clarify the starfighter classes for you.
