I run GALSAF, the Galactic Security Assistance Force, which traipses around the galaxy helping those who can't help themselves. We do everything in GALSAF, but we're small. No more than a couple thousand commandos and their supporting crew/fleet elements.I am, currently, the only writer truly invested in the organization, with two part-time writers that drop in now and again to help out. That being said, it's obvious there's no official GALSAF group on JvS. I would like to change that. For RPer's looking for something specific to their character and writing style, here's a short list of what I'm offering for writing opportunities:
Combat:
Obviously. But we do combat differently at GALSAF. Where many enjoy wholesale slaughter or broad-spectrum calamity, at GALSAF we endeavor to put more detail into our combat-oriented story lines. Special Operations, demolitions, insurgency/counter-insurgency, dog fighting, fleet combat, air assault operations, long range marksmanship, etc. As a former infantryman with the U.S. Army, I personally apply in-depth knowledge and experience intoGALSAF's combat-oriented story lines in a realistic and detailed manner. Many of these facets include drawing from real-world military history to fuel our story lines and pulling from real-world resources such as U.S. Army General David Petraeus' manual on Counter-Insurgency (COIN) operations in history, and the Middle-East.
Mechanics:
At GALSAF, we know that while combat is the organization's primary purpose, but we also know that our commandos require the support of manydifferent types of personnel in order to complete the mission at hand. GALSAF mechanics are responsible for maintaining and repairing the many different types of vehicles, star fighters, cruisers, speeders, and automated combat vehicles utilized by GALSAF's 1st Infantry Brigade Commando Team. We apply detail, real world mechanical knowledge, and canon Star Wars information into the handling of our mechanically-oriented writing.
Personal Story Lines:
Here at GALSAF, we know that nothing builds a good story line like the drama and ever-changing interactions between the story's characters. With a focus on personal character development, we know that you'll findgood writing here at GALSAF, regardless of what you're looking for. We look to tailor our writer's experience to their needs.
Related Support Personnel:
GALSAF is always looking for new writers to take on a persona within the ranks, but we welcome all sorts of individuals and characters to fill our rosters. Related support personnel that are critical to the GALSAF mission include, but is not limited to:
Medicine
- Doctors, Nurses, and Surgeons, and many other medical personnel are
critical to continuing the GALSAF mission. These personnel assist our
wounded and injured commandos, sick and injured Prisoners of War, and
most of all the innocent civilians who are the ultimate focus of the
GALSAF cause.
Equipment/Weapons Specialists
- Without our weapons, we're a blade without an edge. GALSAF needs personnel to constantly maintain, repair, improve and upgrade our arsenal so we're ready for any mission, any time, any where.
Command Staff
- Our commandos are our backbone, but our leaders are our guides. Without a strong leadership, our structure deteriorates. While GALSAF commandos are perfectly capable of operating on their own, organization is one of the most effective tools against chaos and anarchy.
Business and Marketing
- Finding ways to garner donations and/or profitable ventures to support the continuing GALSAF cause are critical to our mission. We will always need business-oriented personnel to help drive our financial needs.
Piloting - GALSAF always needs pilots. Pilots are a critical resource due to our Brigade's reliance on air support operations, not only for oversight and fire support, but for infill/ex-fill during combat operations. Pilots operate everything we have to offer, from snubfighters like the XJ-7 X-Wing to bombers like the BTL-S8 K-Wing, and especially our most critical air support craft: The Low-Altitude Assault Transport (LAAT) and its many variants.
Good Writers
- Even if you don't have a specific character-type in mind, GALSAF is always looking for little more than good people to just be involved. Writers who are forward-thinking and committed to a good story are the best resource we could ask for. If you have ideas for stories and characters simply laying around gathering dust, drop them (and yourself!) off with GALSAF and together we'll find a good use for all that pent up creativity! Even if what you need is help looking for another group to write with, we don't mind helping you find that group.
If you find any of the above interesting to you or your style of writing, feel free to contact me and we can discuss what you might want to do with the Galactic Security Assistance Force. We're looking to promote good writing and positive interactions between writers, even if that means a good fight!
