I know what the difference is-- in theory.
We could rephrase my question as, "can you tell me a maneuver with your lightsaber where it makes it substantially easier to have a curve-grip saber than a straight-grip saber?"
So in other words, is there a practical aspect to that subtle difference?
To give you some background on me, Stormro, I use a double-ended lightsaber pike variant. The differences between my lightsaber and a regular lightsaber are pronounced; you can't even come close to doing some of the same moves with one as the other (it goes both ways).
Lightsabers are, in my mind, what MAKE the Star Wars Universe. I love everything about 'em. It's of considerable interest to me to speculate about this stuff. And I'm personally convinced that, when it comes to fighting in the JvS setting, that innovation is the key to victory.

Using a curve grip is innovative if it makes a true difference compared to regular.
