A flat expanse surrounds the compound Due to the mines being located on an Imperial world it soon found itself being armed to the teeth as a mini base. The walls was 20 feet high and 10 feet thick. It was dotted with security towers and turrets that would defend the facility against attack... The walls and turrets were elevated to 30 feet, so they could look clearly over the walls. The walls were constructed in a square around the main facility.

The weapons were located outside the walls of the mines ready to strike cold death upon enemies of the empire.

Finde Lor walked along the walls during the mid day sun, enjoying the warmth on his skin and breeze in the air. Spending all day cooped up inside the mines was nice but every now and then you needed the break. Even if you were just the official manager. As he walked, his pocket vibrated and he pulled out his data pad. It seemed work was never done. Pulling up the emails he was stunned. Awestruck he stood there a moment before falling.
Xeonon was dead. The owner of the buisness was gone, killed on some mission. Pushing off some guards who had rushed over to help him he stood up again. Im fine Im fine! The Mines was already struggling, the economic tides of the universe had brought her to the brink of destruction. If he did not act fast then all faith in it would be gone. He needed to appear strong. Rushing off to the command center he tucked the PDA away for now the second email all but forgotten.

Three lances (15 men) had made their way to the walls, where most of the stortroopers were. Since the first shot had echoed out most had run to here, expecting an attack from the outside. As such when the next one ran out it was from the side. It hit a sergeant in the head, he dropped down as the other men turned around their skill and numbers meant nothing being one behind the other. Opening up the 15 men quickly gunned down twice as many as their own number. That was when one of the DF.9 anti-infantry laser batterys turned over towards them. Firing it only managed to hit the back three men before they could get within the inside of its firing range.
Being designed to fire outside once again they were at a disadvantage. Ripping the man out of the turret he was thrown off the side of the wall. Nearly a 40 foot drop onto the flat ground below. Despite the drop they could still hear the crunch of the armour and bones all the way up here. Jumping into the turret he swiveled it 180 degrees and open fire on the turrets further down the wall each one exploding into a white and black charred case.
With the wall clear most the men had to be dead, as such they cleared the wall and moved onto the next part of their job.

4 hours and 12 minutes after Solomon Mine incident
Erebus sat in the back of the ship, his weapons ready he looked over the 53 other soliders in the shuttle once before a red light flashed in the back of the ship. His helmet adjusting for the light, he knew something bad was about to happen, just then the shuttle tilted to the right so suddenly that the inertial dampeners couldn't stop it and they all leaned. Fuck what was that?
Probably Johnstone, bastard probably weighs enough to unsettle this ship
No way didn't you hear that? Had to have hit something.
What they didn't know was that they had nearly been hit by two things, the shuttle in front of them as it blew up in flames and a rocket fired from an RPS-6 rocket launcher. Only the pilots knew, and they watched in silence as the 56 men on the other ship including the Major went belly up and crashed into the ground skidding to a halt just before hitting the building inside the wall.
The back of the shuttle opened up and the man to Erebuses right fell, a bolt having struck him right where the stomach plate met the breastplate. Not giving him a second glance, he jumped. Still 10 feet in the air the stormtrooper rolled into a kneeling position his rifle flashing triple bursts of the red lasers. Instinctively he turned on the shielding around his shell, there was almost no cover in the courtyard they were landing in. Damn flyboys, next time give us something to get behind He growled over the comms as the first bolt struck him from the right.
Reloading finally the shuttle touched down and the others joined him, spreading out they ran towards the walls, doors and anything they could get cover behind. One even used a thermal detonator to blow a hole in the ground.
Dirt sprayed in Erebuses face as a rocket went off just in front of him, wiping it from his visor he stood and waited for the first head he saw. Taking aim he fired.

4 hours and 17 minutes after Solomon Mine incident
Erebus looked behind him momentarily as he ran towards the downed gunship, it was a bloodbath. It was obvious that the higher ups had underestimated those who took the mines, mixed with the skill of the assailants half the troopers were dead. His shielding was down to ten percent and a blast struck him square in the back. With the weakened shields the kentic force knocked him down to the ground, expelling the air from his chest he felt a sharp pain in his back. Good. Pain meant you were still alive.
Crawling the rest of the way he knocked on the hull, near the back ramp where it was the thinnest. If anyone is still in there back away from the ramps Not waiting for an answer the clone used the emergency switch to open it up. Inside was a real mess, a handful of the people inside were still alive, if that was the right word for it. The blast that had brought the ship down had flash fried the inside. The duraplast armour can only protect you from so much, and fire was not one of them. Anyone that still moved was a dead man and had he not been in a pitched fire fight he would have put them out of their misery.

4 Hours and 20 Minutes
With the amount of fire in the court yard raining down on the troopers Erebus knew that this op was going to fail. Whoever had sent them here had given them the wrong info, were grossly misinformed and that had led to the death of over half the 108 men. All 108 if actions where not taken. Using one of his concussion grenades he threw it at the wall to his right, ducked down and ran after 3 seconds. He felt the blast hit him, as well as the chunks of duracrete pepper his suit. Silently he thanked whichever think tank had thought up the Mark V, the added weight usually a pain in the ass was damn useful on the battlefield.
Ducking as he went in through the hole he had created he grinned under his helmet finally some good luck. He had come in right at the base of some stairs. Stairs that if he guessed right would lead to the wall where the soldiers were raining down hell. Turning up the amplifiers for the hearing system of his suit he heard the laboured breathing of a person near the top of the stairs. Possibly wounded and set as a rear guard. Putting his gun on a mag lock he took out a blade.
9 inches long it didnt look very formidable at first glance. If one looked at it longer though they would see that it shook and vibrated ever so slightly, and if you were in a dark room with no external noise you could even hear it. He had acquired it after his near disastrous fight against an Imperial Knight on Dubrillion. Sure it had cost him 3 months alcohol rations and a lot of ass kissing but this was better than the regulation blades they had been issued. He could replace his armour, his gun, hell they had even replaced a couple of his fingers but this knife to him was irreplaceable.
Creeping up the stairs the blade pointing up he turned to corner and saw the injured man, his right shoulder was scorched black and he could smell the acrid smell of burnt flesh, hair and clothes. The gaurd never had a chance as the vibro knife went in under the armpit and out the other side, the right arm falling off as his life blood spilled out staining the white armour Erebus walked by him going back to his gun. Opening a comm to all channels in his unit Erebus readied himself
Anyone still ready to fight fire everything in three seconds.
Hoping their ingrained ability to follow orders would hold he kicked open the door and fire. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. The narrow walkway while long held everyone in roughly the same spot. All he had to do was fire. The Churchee Riflemen fell one after the other crying out in pain. His DLT-19 brought swift death to 30 men, and when the weapon clicked empty he switched to his pistol and picked off 5 more before the others fell back into the compound on the other side of the wall.
Get up here, other side of the downed bird is a hole in the wall we arent out of this yet. As he spoke thoughts of a promotion ran through his head then stopped. He had been promoted and demoted so many times it hardly mattered to him. The better rations was what mattered to him.

4 hours 59 minutes
Erebus and the others were on the wall, ignoring the fires and dead bodies they rushed to the Admin center. Most of them had no idea why they were running there full tilt, not taking any precautions but they followed the group. Someone obviously knew what they wanted. Just as the leader reached the door that would lead to the control center the ground around them shook. Similar to an earthquake it was strange, they were in the center of a tectonic plate. There should be no way there is a quake this far in Erebus thought as he was thrown off the wall.
Twenty feet down the ground rippled like jello as it tried to calm down. One such ripple caught Erebus halfway down before the ground settled a few minutes later. Then a wave of heat washed over him, and the ground to his left fell in. No doubt the cave system that interlocked the ground like honey comb not being able to sustain itself. He lay there for a few minutes staring at the ground not having the strength to roll over.
What felt like an eternity later he felt someone grab him an roll him onto his back. The look in the mans eyes said it all. He saw the pity there. There had been plenty of times Erebus felt like giving up, especially back before the current Empire. Lifting his head, ignoring the way his HUD winked on and off and the pain in his hip he saw his white armour blackened like a Nova Troopers. Through blistered lips he managed to strangle out a few words leaving him winded.
Who are you... what did you do?
5 HOURS after incident
Standing there looking down at the man below him he smiled at the trooper. The only man marginally alive after the explosion. He figured he could stop and smell the roses so to speak. Tell someone what happened. Why he had been sent to die.
You fool, you think the high command cares for you, or anyone under its rule. All it cares about is its survival and is willing to do anything to save itself. Thats why I am here. Someone hired us here to get rid of the orbital guns, they saw the civil war coming and knew they would be amoung the first things taken. You were sent only to make it look like they didnt do it. Laughing again he brought a water bottle to the mans lips. He deserved that much respect.Jamming devices, shields, guns its all gone. They had enough sense to keep it our of the city but due to some stupid design everything was controlled from the mines. Just needed some doing.
His ego stroked, Ambrose left taking the only working ship and leaving the planet.

It had been slow to clean up after the mess at the mines. Dead bodies had to be carried away and buried. Walls rebuilt. Collapsed mines had to be opened up again. Debris removed. Some of the money was earned back by selling the scrap but all in all it was not enough. It had cost Solomon Mines millions of credits to clean up all the while losing more and more by the second. It didnt matter. Their first mine had to be reopened, just because it had been attacked by would be terrorists did not mean the business was out. First amoung them was the head of Solomon Mines overseeing the reconstruction. Leaving the reclusiveness of the Anoat mining job he wanted to see his baby brought back to life.
Gone were the Jamming devices and the orbital guns. Useless once the controls had been destroyed. Whomever had decided to make them only work with that specific one made no sense. The specialization of the parts was a major oversight and Aaragu may have suffered gravely from it.
Walking along the walls looking around Xeonon was impressed by how the company managed their waste from the mining. Their Tailing ponds never leaked, their water reclamation was at an all time high and what ore was being produced here was constantly of a high percentage. More than that is was totally different than the way the Muuns mined their minerals. Sure it was more destructive to the land but not everywhere had volcanic vents at the base of the ocean. No instead he was in the middle of the wilderness far from civilization and was immersed in the beauty of it. You couldnt get that on Muunilist. Especially not anymore. Not after he and the other members of the DJO had been there to get their belongings from the vaults.
Now he was richer than he ever was. The secrets he had learned there were impressive. Mind boggling. It was crazy what secrets you can learn when people keep things in a bank.
