Taris: Dueling Ring
Located in the cantina of the Tarisian Upper City, the dueling ring was a battle arena where inhabitants of the ecumenopolis of Taris could duel to earn credits. The dueling ring was owned and fully-operated by the Hutt crime lord Ajuur, who had ties with Davik Kang, a prominent member of the Exchange. Ajuur personally arranged the fights and often sought match-ups that would be of highest interest to potential spectators. Even though it was sustained through its entertainment value, dueling was considered a viable sport by duelists. The ring is large and round, the floor is made of metal. A large Hutt sits high above the spectators gazing through the windows, as there are no seats, his booming laughter will rain down upon the fighters after every injury that takes place.

Ah...the smell of blood, tears, pain and sweat. These were the distinct aromas of victory...and the bitter tastes of defeat from fights past that tingled the senses of Jedi Master Adieumus Matango. They wafted into his nostrils as he breathed in the stale air in the staging area of the Taris Dueling Ring. Running his hands along the cool, shaded wall of the corridor, he could feel it in the cold duracrete walls. His ears rung with the cheers of the victors, the screams of the fallen and defeated, voices of the past crying out for recognition. So much carnage...so much pain...it was thick in the air as Adieumus stepped forward, his footfalls making nary a sound on the polished plasteel floor of the entrance tunnel. He knew not who he was facing, the only hint to what he would be up against was a darkness that seemed to fill every crack and crevice in the old arena. It hung in the air thick, and an old, familiar shiver ran up Adi's spine...he knew the pull of darkness, he knew what it was that Bogan wanted from everyone his corrupted hands touched...power. To seduce Adieumus, a Jedi Master, to come to the darkside, and serve the demons of the inky blackness of chaos? That would be the ultimate triumph. Master Concordia, however, had taught her student well...and imparted the proper knowledge on how to resist the siren's call that pulled so many to their doom.
Whoever was going to be coming out of those doors apparently didn't see things that way.
Another chill ran up Matango's spine, and instinctively, he checked for the lightsaber hanging on his hip. Even though he rarely had to go as far as to pull the lethal weapon from his hip in anger, it was still a comfort to know it was there if he needed it. His clothing was simple, loose, and comfortable...just like Villa's venerable mum. He had opted for a black t-shirt *the front read "Inky mooned me!!" the back read 'Honoghr tour 2009'...It was one of his favorite shirts, and still had the burn holes in it from the lightsaber of William Reign, in the second tournament*, black cargo pants, and his ever-present Air Force One low top sneakers *This time, they were white, with an orange swoosh...matching the color of his saber blade....even Jedi need good fashion sense, but I digress*. The sneakers provided a good grip on many surfaces, and were also lightweight enough to not hinder movement by being cumbersome. The ensemble was rounded out by a pair of soft-sided phrik gauntlets on his hands, and phrik-plated bracers on the forearms.
All-in-all, he was ready to rumble..and it was a good thing too...the doors at the end of his tunnel were opening, and the bright lights of the arena made him squint his icy blue eyes for a moment before they adjusted. Once they had acclimated, he took the final two steps out into the dueling ring....and the crowd went absolutely batshit crazy. Chuckling to himself, the Jedi Master remained calm and composed. While Adieumus truly did enjoy playing to the crowd, He could not allow himself to fall prey to his famous showboating again...it was that very showboating that had lost him the fight with Corr Vhett...Giving in and showing off to the crowd early on had forced Matango to play catch-up, and against a fighter like the one and only booshki buckethead, one does not simply come back and catch up. He could not afford to allow that to happen again. This time, he simply nodded to show his appreciation for the support he was being shown.
A few more strides brought Adi to the center of the ring, and here is where he waited for the approaching darkness to show its face. The Jedi enveloped himself in Ashla's glowing warmth, his Mother's embrace filling him with confidence. He knew She would guide him safely through the gambit that he was about to undertake. She would protect him, give him strength, and show him the way home. Bogan held no domain over Jedi Master Adieumus Matango anymore....Ashla was the one that had shown him the way.
She always did, and always would.
