Oh my.. I though to myself as the men traded blows. It was a spectacular sight, that level of dexterity and focus. I could barely even focus on the fact that I'd been asked something.
"Oh! Umm.. actually I can't remember. But I can remember that someone sent me here. I think."
I looked at my arm, where I'd chosen to write down anything important I needed to remember. All it said was 'Carida'. I guessed that nothing else was too important. "Well, I found you, and I'm assuming I was supposed to. What should I do here?"

The wrist blow struck at the ribs of Finna, who audibly gave no response, but was visibly knocked backward. The blow rebounded only slightly, but with a quick tug, it was enough to redirect the momentum to suit Alkor's purposes. His left foot dragged in a crescent relative to his right, which pivoted with the motion to bring him into an almost perfect reflection of his original stance. The subtle difference now was, his left arm twisted so that his fingers were all tucked into a single point. As he brought his inverted wrist backward, on a collision course with the spinning hook kick, Alkor attempted to catch the strike in the crook between his hand and his forearm, the impact of the blow against his inner arm absorbed by his motion flowing harmlessly into Finna's kick.
If the boy's ankle were caught, he'd be pulled gently along by the leg- and very likely into the splits, at that. "Well, you're here, now," Alkor said, more considering the fact than stating the obvious. His motion now twisted his entire body at the feet, bringing his back to face Finna as the Echani would be passing harmlessly by, mostly because when all of this was said and done, Finna would most likely be in front of him anyway.
"You're welcome to join in, of course." He offered, opening his hand once more and gesturing with his palm toward Finna, "our friend here has much he can impart you. His Jedi martial arts are very good for beginners." With that, he gave Finna a wry wink.

Finna yelped - yes, truly yelped - when Alkor dragged him forward. He knew that the Corellian was good, but Finna had always thought that he himself was rather skilled in his own right - yet the Watchman was fending the Echani's attacks easily, and conversing with this girl! All too soon, his own words echoed back to him:"Watchman Centaris, if there is one thing I have learned about you, it is that you are rarely out of practice, and never to be underestimated." Finna had an unmistakable feeling that he hadn't taken his own advice, and it was beginning to sting - and at the moment, in stung in the muscles of his groin, in his left knee and thigh. Finna was very flexible, even by the standards applied to martial artists, but this one hurt a little. Acting on instinct, Finna pushed a very small jump from his right foot, pulling it in tight beneath his body until his legs were in the proper relation to each other. Following this motion through, he fell on to his back and twisted sideways, kicking at Alkor's left shin with his right foot.

I watched as Alkor effortlessly sent the other trainee into a particularly painful looking split. I didn't think very hard about whether or not I wanted to experience that.
Experience what? Was someone.. Ohh. I saw the trainee kicking out at Alkor after coming out of the splits. Well, too bad I can't remember what just happened, it probably wasn't fun if I was thinking about it between episodes. Oh well!
"That sounds fun, I think. I probably came here to learn this kind of thing anyway."

My mind had begun to wander as the conversation broke off into smaller less important things and I began idley picking at the paint of the table with a knife that had appeared from up my sleeve. Having tried one of Adi's "Iced Teas" and thinking it would do better with some rum I was considering giving it a try when suddenly an object burst through the door at an unsafe velocity. My knife was halfway through the thing when I caught it with the force. There was something oddly familiar about it, and certainly nothing threatening. With a quick flick of my wrist and a tug with the force the knife was suddenly back in my hand and just as suddenly it disappeared up my sleeve. I certainly didn't think about it being puck until Monte appeared in the doorway and things began to fit together in my head. " Alright Mike, what is going on here?" I gesture around the room as a broad smile crosses my face. We're having a party, can't you tell by the jovial expressions and wonderful decor? With a quick chuckle I take a sip from my flask and toss a cookie that had appeared from one of my many pockets at the creature who could only be puck, even if I wasn't enirely sure how he had returned I was glad to see him again (even if he didn't quite look the same). Take a seat. I gesture to the chair next to me. I'm sure Master Matango will be more than happy to fill you in on our mischief. With a grin I turn to Adi expecting him to take up where I left off, sure I could have explained it myself... but why would I do the work when I could get someone else to do it for me, that's the wonderful power of delegation, even if you are delegating up the ladder, that requires even more finesse however, finesse most people don't think I posses.

Adi's head turned from Puck to Mike when he heard his name spoken. The newly-appointed Jedi Master was enjoying watching Puck go through the maneuvers, but shook his head at Mike.
"Quit being lazy, Mike. Monte, tonight, you and Mike are to get the gravity compensators completely online for this sector up to the hangars. We need the video feeds up and running as well. You guys are kind of your own entity here....You don't answer to anyone really...
Except maybe me. Mike never listens to me anyway, so that's kind of a moot point."
Adieumus stood, and stretched. It was getting very late, and the Arkanian would be rousing his team in just a few short hours. The next forty-eight hours would be insanely busy, as well.
Ok folks....you might want to get yourselves some rest. It might be the last time we can do so for a while. Thank you all for coming. For those of you not on the missions to the 'baat, and the MMP, training begins at 0530. We meet in the main hangar bay.
May the force be with us all. I'll see you then. Walking toward the door, Adi headed out of the room.

I shrugged as Adi told me i was working the night shift without telling me what the operation was here. It had to be something big. checking my comms, i looked to see if Kishi had found something. still green, perhaps i sent him on a snipe hunt
'or perhaps that N.I. person hasn't started that work yet.'
turning to mike i lift the suitcase to table top, and opened it. inside were the lightsaber Adi had requested, and the yavin chip. i chuckled.
"I actually haven't done any work on it, but i would rather keep it with me, than risk someone pocketing it while i am away."
then i took off my pack, the first article i removed was a bottle of corellian ale. of course i handed it directly to Mike, knowing any other course of action would result in the bottle shattering.
"So we have 2 jobs… how are we splitting them up?"

With a shake of his head at those gathered, Dante quietly slipped a datachip into Jace's hand as he slipped away quietly - eventually making his way back to his ship, and then blasting off into space.

Johun slowly ate as he watched the others. They were taking the fight to the Mandalorians. Johun sighed to himself. He felt like he was just taking up space here. He had no idea how he fit into Adi's master plan, nor really what Ashla had in store or him. He knew that this is where he was supposed to be, otherwise why was he here? He knew his path would be revealed, he was just unsure when or what path it would be. All Johun could do in the mean time was wait and prepare. He was slowly starting to worry about Jessa, whom he planned to take on as a padawan. Surely she would have left Ryloth by now...

'oh boy… it's Garqi all over again'
Shaking my head was one thing Mirrored the event on Garqi, J-TECH's first mission. while I went down to the surface and employed many fantastical technologies in attempts to restore order to the city that was devastated by an attack, Mike stayed behind and did whatever he did up on deck. And now, he was going to goof off, or sleep… or whatever he was going to do…
'to be fair, i don't know how long this operation has been going on. he could have been here weeks without sleep.'
i chuckled shaking my head at that possibility before speaking
"Ok Mike, you win. I will get the QRDs to make sure video locations are working, I will get the Gravatic Compensators online… you finish your drink then hit the sack."
I turned to Puck, I need to make sure he didn't use up too much power until i knew i could actively recharge him. but for now, if i was trapped deep below, no reason he had to be stuck "on mode" wasting energy on me.
<<Puck, i want you to go check on uncle Adi… It has been a while since you had any fun company.>>
the toy dragon looked at me funny, then nuzzled against my scratchy uncut beard before taking off to find his "Uncle". that left me with assigning tasks and moving out. While I called every QRD that wasn't running patrol, I had Gordon learn from whatever Documents he could gather, the nature of the OS that ran the CLoWDS armor. I needed a sort of hacking program built. When I stepped out into hallway, I was surrounded by no less than 40 QRD commandos.
"Alright everyone, Take a knee. the game plan in mind is not going to be fun. Who here has the Technical know how to run an operation from a centralized location?"
"That would be me sir, Delta-12"
"Ok 12. Take 11 and 13 with you, and get your but up to the control room on sub level 1. the rest of you, split off into teams of three. The team i just named will be base, they will get whatever plans they can and relay locations of Feed transmitters. your jobs will be do a simple hack of the system, find out whether the transmitter can actively transmit back to base, and if not fix the components stopping the Data flow. for now, stick to level 1 through Sub level 3. that should take you long enough. if no questions, Move Out"
the sound of rising footsteps were heard as a game of favorites was played as to who was on who's Squad.
'That leaves Gordon and me'
"Gordon, where are the Gravatic Compensators?"
::Level 4… but the tough part starts there. It seems the turbo lifts only go down to level 3. after that level links only connect 2 floors, and aren't particularly easy to find. Apparently, whatever was deep down there was supposed to be some sort of Trap if defending forces were forced deep enough.::
I sighed, this would be harder than i expected… so for now, I went to the hangar to grab some essential supplies before I trudged my way down into the Catacombs of the facility

'How did I get stuck in this mess of a hall?'
I stared down a hall with umpteen crisscrossing red beams. Unless I knew some phasing trick, there was no feasible way for me to pass to the other end of the hall
'Right, Master Frantz asked me... Gah'
"Okay then Gordon, I need options"
::there is an astromech port to your 3 o'clock.::
"Gordon, you haven't been an astromech since after Yavin."
::I meant you could manipulate the port with your sonic multitool... id-jit::
"Excuse me."
Turning to my right, I saw the port. Removing my multitool, I adjusted the device to a fine tuning setting, I pointed it at the port in an attempt to disable the security protocol that enabled all of these beams. What I did not nice in thi, was the bolt shot from a security blaster from behind me in an attempt to knock my coveted multitool out of my hand
It succeeded without a single hitch. My hand flung the multitool forward into the beams were it was sliced and diced to oblivion. The death glare I could have given the non sentient cackling ai.
"You knew that was going to happen.... Didn't you?"
::I may have had an inkling that the beams were focus lasers instead of trip wires.::
I sighed, seriously I needed to reign in my AI before I took important assignments. Then an idea came to my head.
"Gordon, you could stint off power from the wire emitters right?"
A zap of light headed to the socket and single laser went of line... For just a moment before returning to life. I sighed
::I am sorry sir, the wiring seems to be such that there is power viaducts that reroutes the power if a single direct line is cut off.::
I rubbed my face for a moment before a twinkle came to my eye
"But what if we routed the power through a viral program to the next viaduct?"
Silence
::It should work... But only for five seconds max. I suspect the redundancy factor in the power relays far exceeds the data redundancy you keep of all your accounting files::
"You will have to make it work. Give me a 5 mark and then launch the program."
I cracked my joints in my neck and limbered as the five beeps were heard. I had to pace myself perfectly lest I get carved like the life day tauntaun.
I assumed there to be 20 viaducts as I ran based on the number of laser that went out with each viaduct... And the systems were learning for with each viaduct a minuscule time was subtracted until I had to do a barrel jackknife to make it through the last set of lasers.
"Gordon, put in an order for a new multitool kit. And pay for all the possible bells and whistles"
When I picked myself of the floor, I questioned NI's sanity for putting me through this before proceeding down the stairs toward the main security station

As I climbed down the level I found the darkness very perturbing. The mere fact that the extra gravity had not squashed me by now was one thing, but the questions that Gordon decided to ask me were another thing:: Ok, Bakura or Ilum?:: " Bakura, why?" :: well, on the off chance that something goes wrong I want a prepper's list of exile planets we can head to.:: " I am not leaving the compound just if i make a mistake… now eye's front soldier, we're here." the room was dank and dark… very reminiscent of that late night dump stop on Csilla the last time i went crystal hunting. finding no tangible source of power for light, i removed my tech brace and used the light of the display to light bits of the room." Gordon, lets see if you can go Denshi and see what we are working on." There was a beep and shortly the brace went dark as random panels lit up. I could see that the grav pumps had no manual controls, all was done in the mainframe. I figured i would be learning by the seat of my pants since based on some of the ports that i had seen thus far in my explorations of the base seemed on an OS design code named "Heisei" by geeks. there were at least 15 known iterations of the OS, with each one being a tear down and rebuild with no interconnecting features. and the truth was i barely knew any of the OS before OS 10.
Not waiting long, the light soon returned to my com brace as Gordon finished his studies
::I am reading an encryption code of 0-0- : I caught a glimmer of hope" So… we are talking OS 12?" :: sorry sir, OS 4… version "Orga":: I laid my head in my hands. I knew nothing about the multi version Operating systems. But apparently the worst news was still in front of me. As Gordon explained, before their departure, the commanders of the Base installed a VVZ virus into the mainframe. a virus so benign yet dangerous. left alone it would be no threat, But, assuming someone tried to hack or override the programming, a program would be set in motion to inflict as much damage as possible on the base. my guess for this was a combination of reactor overload and Grav pump hyper pull.
but suddenly A twinkle came to my eye." Gordon, prep the Data Net. we are going to up root everything here, through it into my cloud and start from square one. in case the VVZ takes hold before we can rip it out, you stabilize the generators and the pumps… I will code a new OS from scratch." A worrisome beep was my only response" in 3… 2… 1... NOW"

'and sithspit.'
I cursed beneath my breath as the virus ran faster than my wipe net to attempt the OS from the systems. Perhaps it was for the best that I already planned on resigning my post in the Order on my next failure. But, this wasn't the time to work that out.
::Sir, Are you ok?::
"Not really Gordon, but it doesn't matter, we have a job to do. How far above 100% are we?"
::Actually not so much. we are setting at 106%. Up to now the base has been running at around 50% capacity::
"What neutral options do we have?"
::There is hair gel dispenser in Master Matango's Suite, There is a water valve near the supply of the cornelian ale, the hot water valve in your suite, and the fire retardant foam projectors in the hangar::
"Okay, do everything… in the mean time try to do anything you can to manually shut off some the virus' control of the Critical Charge."
The two of us worked for what seemed like hours until the virus' remnants were contained. beaming a smile I nodded
"Ok Gordon, lets rebuild the OS"
=24 hours later=
As the boot scene loaded and all the final checks, I could not help but smile. with vastly antiquated parts and with a processor that should have given out, Gordon and I were able to rewrite the OS code for the base, ensure it hit compatibility with ever panel in the base. With my Starnet open, I smiled at the blank screen.
::One last thing Sir::
"What's up Gordon?"
::Starnet isn't completely empty… there are two new files that I hid to keep you on task.::
"What are they?"
::One is the latest specs on Project D-eta… the other is encrypted… but I am pretty sure it is the week 20 ultrasound…::
"Gordon… get those some maintenance bots up to my suite and have them clean it out. the prep those files… I want to see him… no her…"
::Them::
I smiled as I dashed out of the room. I had what I needed to gain… and what's more… even though I was saddened I could not be with them, I delighted that the babies Mist carried were healthy, the last thing I did as I journeyed up to the suites… was to call and set an appointment for the following morning with Adi.

It is a dark hour for the Jedi order. After escaping the siege on Yavin, newly minted Jedi Master ADIEUMUS MATANGO calls several of the best and brightest to a new secret operations base on the colonial planet of CARIDA. Many heed the call at the first sounding, such as Jedi Master MIKE FRANTZ, and AEL JADE. While others, like Jedi knight DIAMONTE TUHLUTE refuse the call, still in mourning for his lost companion PUCK.
Choosing to take a more aggressive route in order to destabilize the Mandalorian Fleet blockading Yavin IV, Jade is dispatched to destroy a beskar mining and distribution facility, in hopes that cutting supplies can draw the blockade away from Yavin IV.
However, Death Watch Leader DRED VIZSLA contacts the leader of the Mandalorian forces, ASHRAH INTALBO regarding the involvement of the Jedi. In his hatred for the Jedi burning in his mind, he dispatches the venerable and feared TAUNG H'REL to track down and destroy the small Jedi combat force in retaliation. With his sights set on Carida, MAND'ALOR INTALBO intends to send a message to all force users in the Galaxy....

Matango received word that the Mandalorians had begun their landing. Several craft had dropped droids in the Remnant Courtyard, and the HUD in Adi's helmet showed all kinds of movement via the security footage.
::They're here, boys. We have movement in sector 1.1.0. They are moving our way....brace yourselves.:: ::Sir, we are in a perfect position for a parallel ambush. We could pull one unit back to our location, and catch them in a crossfire.:: ::Negative, Gregory. We have them placed in the best location to hold the advancing enemy for as long as possible...so long as they don't roll in on us with too much artillery.:: Right then. All systems green. Active camo is ready, and sensor masking is online. All units are showing moderate defenses...as much as time allowed. There are three sections with small shielding units found in the armory, and they are protecting the most vital routes to the hangar. Unfortunately, the rest only have their on-board shields, and that won't hold against any kind of heavy barrage. ::How about we just concentrate on giving them as much cover as we can from the air, eh? We are their air cover. Now, hit the camo, activate the shields, get the sensor negation up, and get us in the air, Gregory.::
It took about two seconds for the orders to be completed, and Matango was in the air...nigh invisible. He could see the massive tank-like droids flying from the courtyard, and spreading out already. The HUD in the CLoWDS armor was already locked on to the full 15 targets it could independently track, and there were scores more moving out.
This was gonna get ugly...and this was probably only the scout force.
Selecting the EMP grenades from his loadout, Adi sent ten of them, one after the other, at the element making a move in the direction of the hangar. Each device was proximity fused to explode about ten feet above their target, and rain hell upon their electrical systems. This barrage was followed by a series of fifteen rounds from the 25mm cannon, aimed at what Adi felt was the 'head' of the beasts. While it probably wouldn't take them out, he could get a feel for how much punishment these monstrosities could take before going down. Besides, maybe he could draw their fire, and their attention toward -him- and draw them into one of the kill zones of his men.
Problem with being bait in a high-stakes fishing derby was...it didn't usually work out too well for the bait....

Adi fired at the first group of 20 droids in the incoming wedge of the mass of droids bearing down upon the defenders at altitude. The lead wedge lost the first five droids their systems snapping off from the electrical overload, their flight paths turning ballistic, smashing into old molding and moss covered pillars and supports, the heavy metal droids smashing through the rock with sharp crack of rock breaking and the hollow sound of heavy metal clanging in a tumble of rock chips and dust. The second wedge immediately after them went in all directions in an animalistic twitch of pain as their systems misfired with errant surges of information, the metal beasts squealing electronic rage as they split. The remaining ten droids of the group twisted towards the source of the fire and sprayed a series of Ls-9.3 laser cannon bolts at the rough location as they flashed by, their engines screaming loudly.
Around the first wedge of droids the other groups began firing their missiles and lasers into the ruins and jungle immediately around the base, setting fire to drier trees and shattering stone and bits of wood in all directions from the impact points.
On the ridge to the east, Taung listened to the reports of first resistance encountered at the base and nodded at the report and continued to watch the flashing below him through electrobinoculars.

A few dropped, a few skitzed out....but there were a lot more coming, and now they were madder than space hornets on crack. Fire came in from several directions, and their fire was pretty accurate for not being able to see or sense where Adi was.
That wasn't what concerned Adi.
The fire from the other group of droids tore into the outskirts of the base, dangerously close to the position of two of the 100 man units. Any closer, and the men would be in peril before they could do anything to help, and that couldn't be allowed. However, as Adi slowed to make the turn to intercept the droids attacking the base itself, he got clipped by a pair of the laser bolts, and Matango got thrown very wide, spinning end over end. It took Gregory momentarily taking control of the suit for him to recover, but as soon as he had, he was back in business.
The shields had dropped dramatically....they were down to fifty percent power just from being barely grazed. It would have been a disaster had they struck full on.
Upon recovery, Adi scanned for the worst threat....and found some of the massive droids making a move in the general direction of the Hangar. Ships had begun to pour out of the facility, and they could not be allowed to come under any kind of harm. With a burst of his repulsors, Matango screamed in on the group of droids, firing the 25 mm cannon as fast as his rapid flight would allow....about ten shots at the 'head' sections...to hopefully nullify that nasty, spiky thing in the front. He fired four EMP grenades at a group of droids heading for a QRD stronghold, not comfortable with how close they were getting. Another series of blaster bolts from the troops on the ground, and one of the 25mm cannons on the commander's suit fired on the group as well, hoping for a lucky shot on one of the droids.
They knew they couldn't do much against the beasts being set against them, but it didn't matter....it was more about holding as long as they could for those still trapped inside. It was about the lives they were saving....nothing more. It was their job, and they were the best in the universe at their jobs.

The droid that Adi fired on shook its head back and forth as it was hit, sparks spewing momentarily from its head, its companions opening fire back up the flight path of the incoming projectiles with laser fire. Three droids from the second group went down but the others continued towards the hanger, along with several other groups of droids, heading for the obvious activity of ships launching. Two groups, forty droids, turned on the commandos that had opened up on one of the droid groups with slug throwers and one 25mm, strafing with lasers and launching a series of missiles at the group as one group continued to land on the ground and start hunting the soldiers while being covered by the second group that continued strafing runs from above. Six other droids continued to strafe the surrounding jungle and edges of the ruins.
On the jungle floor the drilling equipment had been unloaded and moved closer under the close guard of 100 Besom class tanks, and they began to dig, mining lasers and a zenomech quickly begin tunneling into the rock ground, angling towards the underground Jedi Base.

This wasn't happening fast enough....
He ducked low into the ruins, flying into the spaces afforded from the dilapidated buildings. The droids came into range of four squads now, albeit the first squad was now down to thirty percent of its number, due to the most recent attack on their position. Seventy men had been killed in just the first -pass-. The armor and weapons were just no match for the heavy droids that the Mandalorians were deploying. That didn't, however, stop them from giving everything they had. Four 25mm cannons now opened up on the droids *one from the original attackers, and the other three teams*, as well as the assorted blasters and small caliber slugthrowers. Three hundred and seventy men threw everything they had in their limited arsenal at the ever-encroaching death worms. For the ones on the ground, EMP grenades were launched, hoping to take out a couple of droids in the barrage.
An idea formed in Adi's head, and he began taking out pillars in the outside wall of the long building he was flying through. The repulsors screamed from his gauntlets as he flew past them, shattering them with explosive force. As he hit each one, the wall began to tumble down. With a push from the strength enhanced suit, the wall began to drop...right into the path of the droids, possibly dropping right on top of them. Several of the squads to the west began collapsing back toward the hangar as the droids approached from the east, and grouped together to form a more concentrated wall of fire. This put them in a precarious position of being too close together, and vulnerable to artillery fire...A well-placed strike would take them out, even in their armor. They were trying to stay as hidden as they could, but it was a futile struggle to hide in a fight like this.
They weren't concerned for their own safety at this point, though. It was about buying every precious second they could.
The group started to scatter out again...almost six hundred strong, moving as a fluid group. They deployed around the hangar, turning the area in front of it into a killbox where every round they could fire would be emptied into the enemy. It would provide a wall of lead and energy as strong as they could possibly produce.
Two more shuttles made it out of the hangar, and made for atmosphere. Only a handful more needed to get clear, and the men could fall back and evacuate as well. This area outside of the hangar was the Alamo...the final position that could be held before it all went to chaos. Adi moved to provide as much cover as he could for them....what little that was.
