Are there any other thieves out there that would like to join me in creating a guild? I have a few ideas to make thieving more fun and interesting for those around here who like that type of rp. I've also borrowed a few ideas from other sources. I'd like to call it something other than the "Thieves Guild" because that is so overused, instead I'd like to call it something like the Order of Shadow (but the name isn't important right now). First off I want to eliminate the hassle of ranks, they get in the way of writing. More marks will be given according to senior members of course, but seniority isn't rank and more will come with built trust and reputation within the guild. Next I'd like to come up with a set of rules that members of the guild must abide. - A member of the guild may never betray the guild.
- A member of the guild may not steal from another member of the guild.
- A member of the guild will pay 10% tribute of all earnings to the guild.
- A member of the guild may not steal from guild associates.
- A member of the guild may not steal from the poor.
- and so on...
- and so on...
- and so forth.
I want to make clear the difference between guild members and associates. Guild members are the thieves in the guild, associates are anyone who aide the guild such as fences, informants, and those who protect guild members in their time of need. That being said we will need those types of people to fulfill those roles. And of course I'd like to have people who give us marks, though they would be considered as clients, not associates, and they would be subject to becoming marks as well. There will be several types of jobs as well. Simple break-in/burglary jobs, heists, shill, smuggling (yes that too), and more. This way people will have many types of work to choose from when they want decide they need something to do or decide they need some extra money. Pay will depend on they type of job and item(s) stolen, and of course the fence paying for them. Is anyone interested? This is just me thinking out loud, but I thought it might be something that would boost this type of rp around here.

Back when I RPed a thief, I would have LOVED helping with this. And, quite frankly, I wouldn't mind helping out now. If you want, I'd be more than happy to offer up the Serennian government as an associate. Additionally, I wouldn't mind having this stationed/headquartered on Serenno - we could use a good criminal RP element.
On another note, I wouldn't mind committing one of my characters to this either.

I could be all over this. Both as a thief and as transporter.

That's a big list of restrictions and I don't see a corresponding list of benefits. What exactly would a thief gain by agreeing to join this guild, other than limiting him(or her)self to the strictures of these rules (and in my mind, that's not a gain at all).

I'd like to take a crack at this if you'll have me. Sounds sorta like the Skyrim thieves guild structure, perhaps the same setting type for an HQ? Just throwing an idea out there if your taking any. This character is sort of a thief with some type of Honor code, not sure how I'd explain but, yeah.. The black cat in the dark knight rises was a thief, she stole from the rich and powerful, she was some-what self centered, though, she did have a sense of what was right and what was wrong as we seen in the end. I'm not saying lets all run around in tight leather here ;D Just pointing out a personality trait in her that kind of reflects what kind of code this guild could go by. Just a few thoughts...

The benefits, at least some of them, seem fairly apparent to me. You get work and rp, and of course with a guild in place people will know where to go looking for thieves to hire. And I'm sure that 10% tribute will be of some benefit. As Miss Eoura said, she is thinking out loud, which tells me that it is still a work in progress.
That being said, how does this affect your position in the Organization and Perses Project?

That being said, how does this affect your position in the Organization and Perses Project? Sorry for taking so long to reply to this, I was waiting to see if there was any more interest. Anyway, this wouldn't affect anything concerning the Organization to get that question out of the way first. And yes there are a lot of rules, but this is because we would hold ourselves to a higher standard than common criminals. There are only five unless there would be cause or need to add more, And I think they are pretty reasonable considering there could be more, but I can go through each of them to explain why they exist. - A member of the guild may never betray the guild. -- Why would we want someone in the guild who would sell us out? And if they did, this is just subtly saying that there would be some repercussions.
- A member of the guild may not steal from another member of the guild. -- It's a guild, not a free-for-all. We honor other guild members, we can however steal from non-affiliated thieves.
- A member of the guild will pay 10% tribute of all earnings to the guild. -- This doesn't go to anyone's pocket, this would simply be guild money and would be used to buy various equipment for guild members and to pay off any bounties on guild members.
- A member of the guild may not steal from guild associates. -- This one seems like common sense as well considering what guild associates bring to the guild, why would we burn that bridge?
- A member of the guild may not steal from the poor. -- The poor are...well, poor. What could they possibly have that we would want?
So is anyone interest at all? And who will help me set it up?

Have you considered joining the Exchange as well? We are more than welcoming to allowing autonomous subgroups in the Exchange (as all our subgroups all). This allows us to keep storylines going strong even when there isn't a lot outside of our own group, because, there are always powerplays happening in the Exchange. So, consider it.

We wouldn't be vying for power or anything like that, if you need something acquired and it takes a certain set of skills to do so then you five us a contract and we fulfill it, credits exchanged for items, and we move on to the next job. No powerplays here. As for direct involvement with the Exchange, my character's loyalties lie with the Organization, and even they are only considered associates of the Guild. I think it would be best to remain separate so as not to blur lines. Would you be fine with being just an associate of the Guild as opposed to having it as a subgroup within the Exchange? Nightingale I'm happy to have you with me on this. With luck more will follow.
