Airine na Comhrac Dorchadas A dull wind blows the sand in waves across the arena floor as the crowd stamps it's feet in impatience to see this match. Normal people taking time out of their day to watch as two men fight and die for their pleasure. There was intensity in the air, an electric feeling of surging bloodlust running through the audience turned mob. The Durasteel walls stand high and strong with Togorian Headhunters standing atop them, more to prevent rioting than to keep cowardly fighters within the arena. Spreading inward from the walls the sands are riddled with rocks of all sizes and shapes, potential weapons or hiding places for some. And in the center sits the emblem of the Xendorian Guard, polished and smooth, visible from any corner of the arena. At either end of the arena doors open to elevators which lead below to the armory and storage area for the arena. Standing out from the seats the judges dias looks down upon the field, obscured in shadow but lurking figures sit in waiting, holding the lives of the competitors in the palm of their hands. This was a place of blood and combat, a place where fate was tested by those who dare to challenge it. This was the Airéine na Comhrac Dorchadas.Well now. This place was becoming something of a second home for Eralam. The pocket universe of the GBA was always an interesting place to find oneself, and the arena in which he stood was no exception. The place was steeped in a long history of bloodshed and violence, quite a bit of it at the hands of the Shard.
He stood at the northern edge of the arena, cloak flapping in the wind. The robotic face held no expression. How could it? It was, after all, just a metal plate with eye-holes and a mouth-like thing for the vocabulator. His standard gunbelt held the LeMat in a drop leg holster, the butt of the pistol riding three quarters of the way up his thigh. Eralam's lightsaber occupied its usual place on his left hip. In his hands, however, was something a bit different.
The Shard brought a new toy to this fight. On the surface, at least, it resembles a standard AR-series rifle. If someone intimately familiar with the platform were to observe, there were subtle differences. The barrel, for instance, was much heavier than one used for a standard 5.56 round. The 18 inch length suggests a weapon designed for close quarters work rather than long distance marksmanship. The adjustable stock had a heavy duty recoil buffer integrated. The use of the M68 Aimpoint optic, which allows for rapid, accurate acquisition of the target but offers no magnification, would also hint towards a weapon built for short to middling range. The weapon had a foregrip mounted on the lower tac rail. Push a button, and the springloaded legs of a bipod would pop out, affording a great deal of stability to a shooter firing from either the prone position or from behind a wall or bunker.
What even the most careful observer would be unable to detect, short of shotgunning the weapon to take a look inside, is that it's been designed to handle the .50 Beowulf round. The heavy bullets offer nearly unrivaled stopping power for close range, and can make mincemeat of unarmored vehicles and opponents. The magazines, of which Eralam hac five stored in mag pouches along the front of his belt, look like standard 30 round magazines. And since they're stored upside down, as is customary, one would find it quite difficult to take a peek inside. That they only hold ten rounds each is inconsequential; sheer volume of fire wouldn't intimidate anyone foolhardy enough to step into this arena. They had one job: to make life hell for whomever ended up on the receiving end. An unarmored opponent would be granted quick passage into the afterlife of their choosing, and an armored foe would likely wish to follow suit shortly after taking a hit.

The elevator to the arena proper ground to a halt with a slight shudder and a CLUNK. The doors slid open and the car was flooded with sunlight and noise. His buy'ce instantly compensated for both, dimming he visor and shutting out most of the irritating crowd. He never understood why he did these things. Boredom? Not really. When you lead a group of insane bastards clad head to toe in nearly indestructible metal, things were rarely boring. Personal Pride then. Not really something that was becoming in Mand'alor....No matter. What mattered was the fight. The battle. The call to arms and all that crap.
He stepped out into the arena and began his walk towards his opponent. His HUD zoomed in on the being, tracing over the weaponry, the 'face', the lightsaber. Great. A Force using Robot with a gun. Just what he needed. He had heard about the Shard. The Glorified Calculator (to quote Miss Diva), the Iron Microwave, and many other derogatory terms.....None of them mattered. He had his battle Armour on. He would be slightly slower, but not too much. They didn't call it Iron Skin because it was hard. Well, not completely anyway. Mag-locked to his back, the pommel poking over his right shoulder, was his Shotgun, kad'marev...Kad's Fist. Over his left shoulder protruded the handle of his custom Blade resting in its sheath built into the armour he wore. On his left arm was wound his chain, the ball resting at his elbow, the 2 foot handle in the palm of his left hand.
As he walked towards Eralam he kept an eye on the RoboNinjas new toy, zoomed in slightly to note for movement. He drew his right arm up and pulled Kad'marev off his back in one fluid motion, the shortened barrel dull black, matching the colour of his black armour. This should be entertaining.........

Damn. A Mando. Well, as they say, time to rock and roll.
The rifle comes up, buttstock resting securely in the pocket of the right shoulder. The motion is fluid, practiced, and deceptively quick. Amateurs often make the mistake of jerking the rifle into line, sacrificing stability for speed. That's a good way to get killed. Even if your first shot lands, if you don't have the weapon set right on the shoulder, the recoil is going to throw the next shot wide. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
The Shard fired three shots in quick succession, about a third of a second in between each trigger squeeze. On a smaller caliber weapon, a practiced operator can match the feat easily and place all three rounds within an inch, anywhere they want, on a target's center mass. The Force isn't even needed. In this instance, the much higher recoil of the .50 Beowulf means that the shot groups would be a bit wider, but not excessively so. The AR platform sends the recoil linearly backwards, directly into the shooter's shoulder, and the "birdcage" muzzle brake channels a large portion of the muzzle blast upwards, further reducing climb. Combine that with the recoil buffer in the stock, and Eralam's hydraulically stabilized limbs were more than up to the task of handling the formidable weapon's kick.
The first shot was aimed towards the big Mando's gut. The red dot of the M68 was centered at roughly where the navel should be at the moment of firing. Eralam let the point of aim rise upwards with the recoil, and placed the dot on roughly the centerline of the Mando's diaphragm. On the third shot, he tracked over a bit and centered the dot on the rather scary shotgun that his opponent was busy trying to draw. Secretly, the Shard was a bit disappointed in his opponent. An over the shoulder draw looks cool as hell, but it's not all that practical unless there are multiple weapons in play. With a rifle as a primary and a pistol for a backup, it makes a certain amount of sense to keep a shotgun, if present, across the back. Chances are, if you have to draw it, you'll have an extra second or two. But as a first choice, it's all flash and showmanship.

Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. Those were the words used by Eralams inner dialogue. How do I know this? I can read, same as you. This right after he made fun of Ashrahs slow over the shoulder draw of Kad'marev. That is the beauty of the Mag Lock. Instant detachment. Fluid draw. AND it looks badass. The second thing that is beautiful was the fact that Ashrah had Eralams trigger finger and gun on zoom in a section of his HUD. Now came the part of Ashrah was was the genetically modified freak.......His enhanced muscles, synapses and reaction time kicked into high gear. Years of training...Most of which being brainwashing it was so ingrained. He dove to his left as Eralam pulled the trigger, the slug clearing the space he had just occupied. This was not some crazy Forcie Bullet time Matrix dodge here. This was HUD zoom detection of finger movement and dive for cover as fast as possible. The fact it coincided with the actual trigger squeeze was purely coincidental...The kind of thing that makes for good television...
He tucked into a roll as he dove, the shotgun clearing his shoulder far more quickly than it had any right to, Ashrah moving far faster than he had any right to. He came up behind a one of the many boulders strewn about the arena, keeping in a low crouch, the handle of his chain now dangling, the pump resting in his left hand, tucked close to his chest. He could wield Kad'marev one handed with relative ease, but this was no time for theatrics. He noted the distance between himself and the next chunk of rock, tracking the fastest route possible to get closer to the over sized dishwasher hopefully without getting shot. He had no doubt his armour would stop the bullets.....but not the bruising and probable busted rib or cracked sternum. He was tougher than most, and it took a hell of a lot of force to break his bones.....But he wasn't willing to find out exactly HOW much force that Kad be damned weapon put out.....
Replacing Kad'marev on his back he bounced lightly in place once, twice, and on the third his powerful legs uncoiled, launching him across the distance in a front diving roll, attempting to keep himself as small as possible, making it more difficult for Eralam to get a proper bead on him. He figured he had given the Shard enough time to figure out roughly which direction he was going, but that was unavoidable. He came up in a crouch behind the second rock....The next one in line was farther away.....

Holy shit, that guy was fast. Eralam would have been startled had he been in possession of a nervous system and assorted tackle required for such a thing, but since he didn't, he wasn't. Comes with the territory of being a (the) Robot Space Ninja. Instead, he reacted with the long suffering patience of a being used to facing surprises on the battlefield.
Instead of getting flustered and wildly spraying rounds, the Shard simply tracked his opponent through the dive, and waited for the inevitable roll. How did he know it would be a roll? Simply put, a dive, followed by an undignified sprawl in the sand, would have looked stupid. No one likes to look stupid. So there would be a roll, a brief moment when the target was committed to the motion, unable to easily deviate. Oh, and since he would be tucked into a neat little ball, he presented a much easier target to hit. Probably should have gone with the sprawl...
At any rate, Eralam simply shifted his point of aim over a bit and fired off his second round(the previous three round group having been so rudely interrupted.) His point of aim was the hip, an area traditionally only lightly armored for mobility's sake. Figure about 1,800 feet per second for the bullet, about 20 meters in between the two targets (kinda guessing here, couldn't find a set size for the arena,) and it should take about .03 of a second to get there. If the bullet punched through the armor, then that would pretty much be a game over, as the heavy slug sneered at little things like flesh and bone. If it didn't, then Eralam was willing to bet that a normal human would be dealing with a fractured pelvis at the very least. But given the obviously enhanced reflexes, he was willing to bet that the big Mando had a few other tricks up his sleeve, so it really was anyone's guess.
And if it missed, the Shard would be taking remedial marksmanship training, because that's a bloody easy shot for a robot at this range.

Battle Armour. Slightly beefier than his normal Around The House armour. That being said, the short skirt around the hips would stop a blade, a blaster bolt and a punch to the junk. This goddamned gun the Shard was shooting...even at distance, would be painful. How painful? Lets find out.
The bullet slammed into the skirt at his hip, sending his diving roll off kilter and he landed wrong. Oh so very not cool landing at all. Like a drunk man tripping on his own feet.
"MOTHERFUCKER!!"
It was going to bruise. Badly. He was lucky. Any other man would be in tears, mewling with a shattered pelvis. Even Corr would wimper. Ashrah sucked in a breath and hauled himself to his feet and tested his hip. It would work, but it would get stiff. He shook his leg quickly, wincing slightly at the bruising. Now he was pissed. He ignored the pain. What else could he do? NOW he noted his route, tracking the distance and he forced himself to move as fast as he could, diving behind the closest rock. I use dive as purely exposition here. It was more of a fast run. As he ran, he fingered Eralam, looking right at the Robot as he did, his HUD tracking the RoboNinjas movement once more before he ducked behind the rock. It was about 6 feet between obstacles. He got behind the rock and turned on the external speakers, cranked them to loud and yelled at the talking Fridge
"PUT THAT THING AWAY AND FIGHT!!"
He had to crank up the volume to be heard over the crowd. His hip was starting to annoy him, but he would survive. For now.

The offending finger was too good of a target to pass up. Eralam knew it was a low percentage shot, 50/50 at best, but he couldn't resist sending a round screaming towards the digit. The shot, for he only had time for one, would have been better spent hammering away at that same hip; it would probably shatter after a couple more hits. But hey, there was a lot of man behind the finger. That Mando was freaking huge, dammit. Maybe he'd get lucky and clip the bastard in the throat.
Eralam laughed. The sound was harsh, mechanical, and utterly wrong. He cranked up his own volume loud enough to be heard.
"TAKE OFF THAT WRAPPER AND WE'LL TALK, YEH GODDAMN MANDO SONOFABITCH!"

The shot of course did not take off his finger, but Ashrah got the point. Eralam yelled at him to take off his 'wrapper' and the big mando stiffled a chuckle. Still behind the rock he yelled back
"YOU TAKE OFF YOURS AND MAYBE WE'LL TALK!!"
He pulled the shot gun off his back once more and stayed crouched....He stood and put the rock to his back. His HUD came up once more and he stepped out quickly. With the HUD, he pin pointed a shot at Eralams face, Kad'marev kicked in his hands twice as he moved across and forward, headed for another piece of cover. He knew Eralam would shoot at him. He was damn good with that gun, but he wouldnt get anything done hiding behind a rock......After the scond shot, designed more to hopefully distract than anything else (can you distract a robot?) he broke into a sprint, his powerful legs propelling him across the distance

Boulders are known for many things. They're big. They're heavy. They make great cover in a pinch, and if you can drop one on an opponent's head, they're pretty lethal too. One thing they are not known for is being gun-shaped. In fact, a gun shaped like a boulder or a boulder shaped like a gun would be quite ridiculous. Or at least that's what the common thinking was. Eralam had wanted to test this theory for quite some time, but he didn't want to use his own guns to do it. Most of them were antiques, after all.
You could almost see the lightbulb go off in his head as Ashrah stepped around the rock. The Shard called upon the Force. With a seemingly innocuous tap of his left index finger on his own rifle, Eralam attempted to make art. If this worked as planned, that Force-damned shotgun would almost instantly find itself wrapped around the rock, hopefully before its owner had a chance to fire.
"I CAN'T! BESIDES, YOU'RE MUCH PRETTIER!"

He got one shot off before his shot gun was slammed into the rock he was hiding behind, the barrel bending to the shape of the outside of the chunk of earth. He liked that shot gun. He even named it. Now he was irritated. He continued his forward movement from my last post, getting closer. He could almost close with the other being....And now that his shot gun was useless for shooting.....well. He would just have to cut Eralam into little tiny pieces.....

The lead slug (that's what he said it was when asked) slammed into the rifle's magazine well. Miraculously, it didn't set off the rounds left. It did, however, render the weapon useless without a trip to the armorer. The Shard knew that he'd have one shot left. Fortunately, his opponent was sprinting towards him. He'd close the distance in about three seconds (arbitrary guess, seems about right for the distance,) which as more than enough time to fire off the last round the the chamber. The weapon comes up, red dot on center mass, and kaboom. As soon as that was done and over with (three quarters of a second,) Eralam called upon the Force to hurl the weapon towards his opponent's legs. Most beings react to a shot to the chest by dying. If they're wearing armor, they'll generally drop and start gasping for breath. Broken ribs are common. And if this freak of a Mando didn't do either, then maybe he'd be kind enough to stumble on the rifle. Either way, there wasn't enough time to draw another weapon in this post. It could be done, but that would make things a bit too complicated to explain. So yeah. We'll go with a gunshot and a rifle toss.

His HUD still zoomed in on Eralams trigger finger, and tucked up in the right corner of his display, Ashrah dove left into a roll as the gun fired once more, missing him by scant millimeters. He was going to have to stop cutting it so damn close. His hip howled as he moved, but he ignored it, his enhanced genetics pumping more adrenaline through his body, dulling the pain. He would feel it after the fight to be sure, and it would be bad. Probably bad enough he had to spend a day or two in a bacta tank. Kad he hated that gun already.....He came out of his dive in a roll, bounding to his feet, his blade clearing it's sheath as he did, the 2 foot handle of his chain slapping into his left hand, the 3 inch hooked blade glinting. The crowd had gone mostly silent. Watching to dudes try to shoot each other in the face was only something one liked it ones personal tastes were a little...bent....Now the crowd started to scream and shout, and let it all out.
He closed on the Robot, his own 6 foot frame was a quite obviously smaller than his counter part, but that didn't bother him. This Mando wasn't affected by Little Big Man Syndrome. Unlike his close personal Frenemy Corr, who OBVIOUSLY compensated for a tiny tiny package with those ridiculous horns on his buy'ce...I mean seriously. Viagra Bro......
THe rifle thrown by Eralam, which I damn near forgot, missed, due only to the diving roll. Otherwise, it would have been a sweet counter, and taken the Mand'alor out at the ankles, causing him to dive face first into the hard dirt floor of the Arena. As it was, he was up and sprinting once more, the blade in his right hand snapping out and across at Eralams trigger arm, because fuck that gun. Seriously. His left handed weapon was poised for attack or defence at this point, held waist height and out to his left slightly......

The roll was all Eralam needed to open up a bit of space. He stepped backwards with his leading (left) foot and pulled the right foot back. This created about a meter of extra space, coupled with the approximate meter's distance at the time Ashrah came out of the roll for about 2 meters. The extra space meant that the Mando's attack missed, though it would be nothing for him to recover and close. Unless, of course, he had a good reason to get the fuck back.
Most people consider the LeMat an excellent reason.
With his hands clear of the rifle, the Shard was free to draw his weapon as he moved. With all the speed and suddenness of a striking snake, the right hand snatched the pistol out of its holster, firing as soon as it was clear. At this distance, it's hella hard to miss, even on a snapshot. Though the .44 caliber lead balls don't pack quite as much punch as the rifle rounds, they're still not to be trifled with. Everything from humans to wookiees had made the mistake of assuming the ancient pistol was worthless, and everything from humans to wookiees had spent their last moments in this world wondering where the back of their skulls had run off to. If that first shot, aimed approximately towards center mass, slowed down the freaky-ass Mando juggernaut for as much as a fraction of a second, Eralam would bring his left hand up and start fanning the hammer. Once that happened, the audience would be treated to a revolver doing its best sub gun impression.
It all depended on whether or not the organic would hesitate or falter. If not, then Eralam would have no choice but to put the two kilogram pistol to use as a bludgeon until the opportunity arose to let it speaks its deadly word.

The .44 slug slammed into Ashrahs chest plate, the under padding on his armour dissipating most of the kenetic energy. I say most, not all. The slug hit the right chest plate and slammed Ashrahs shoulder back and causing him to slow only slightly. He felt his right arm start to go numb and rolled the shoulder 5 or six times rapidly, pushing on
::Ow::
He growled under his breath. It response, he put on a burst of speed, his blade slashing across at the mid point of the gun in Eralams hand. He would assess the damage later, when he wasnt being shot at. Right now he needed to deal with the problem directly in front of him. The problem was the damn gun. The other problem was Eralam himself. Not insurmountable, but irritating none the less. He knew the shoulder/chest would bruise. It was a testament to beskar and his underpadding that he wasnt dead, or lying on the ground in writhing agony.

That slight moment of hesitation was all the Shard needed. He shifted his weight to the balls of his feet, leaned forward a bit, and sprang towards the Mando. The left hand had time to come up as the action was being completed, and began fanning the hammer of the revolver as the right index finger held the trigger down. This brought the weapon out of the danger area, though it was entirely possible that the strike could impact the Shard's armored flank. That was assuming that the bullets striking beskar didn't render the arm useless, as the point of aimed started at the right side of the chest and tracked upwards towards the shoulder.
At any rate, there should be enough time for at least two shots before the two beings collide.

Eralam sprang towards Ashrah and his hand began to move to the hammer. Ashrah is fast. But he isnt Force Speed Face. He was committed to the start of slash, so his pulled his left shoulder back, turning the slash into a spin, hoping his blade would at least knock the gun off kilter and maybe dent the barrel. The first bullet slammed into his left chest plate this time, sending him spinning more. It hurt. Now both sides had been hit. He rolled that shoulder as well, keeping the blood moving and hopefully delaying the muscles from freezing. He finished the spin now facing Eralams left side, and did the only thng he really could. With no gun anymore he swung his blade as hard as he could, but with grace and talent. He wasn't losing his mind here and is still a trained warrior....He aimed the blade for the mid point on the forearm of the RoboNinja's Chassis. His intent was to either cut the arm off, or at the very least created a weak spot he could concentrate on. His own strength coupled with the custom blade should hopefully damage this annoying creature here.

The lesson to be learned here is that Ashrah isn't Force Speed Face. Good information to have. Eralam's writer would like to point out that this information and the usefulness thereof has absolutely nothing to do with the duel.
At any rate, the easiest way to piss off a blade wielder is to close the distance to a point that they can't effectively bring the weapon to bear. And if you can keep them from bringing a bear, that's even better. God, I need sleep.
As the blade comes towards Eralam, he uses the Force a bit. Not on the blade, not on the arm that's holding it, or even on that chick in the audience that kept acting like she was going to flash the fighters but never quite got around to showing tits. Instead, he gives himself a healthy push to the back, effectively transforming his lunge from badass to straight up cartoon territory. He flies towards the Mando at a velocity best described as "stupid." As he's flying, he tucks his arm and the revolver against his chest, barrel pointing upwards. The left hand had enough time to cock the hammer back once more, and a quick little flick of the index finger drops the striker into the lower position. Then the left arm is spread out. It looks for all the world like Eralam trying to give Ashrah a hug. Which he is. Funny how that works.
The idea is to wrap the big Mando up in a hug, where he can't get away from the #6 shot. And if the Shard's right about his math (and he usually is) the barrel will be right underneath the big Mando's chin when it goes off. At that range, it would be less like a shotgun and more like a highly directional hand grenade. Fun times.
It should be noted that the Shard doesn't escape from the slash unscathed. It clangs off his upper arm, leaving a rather impressive gash in the plating. It doesn't cut the important equipment below, but it does expose it. That blade would have to be taken care of eventually.

What the......? Eralam was flying. At least, that's what it looked like. He had a pretty good idea of what the RoboNinja was trying to accomplish, and that annoyed him. Ashrah jumped. It was the only thing he could do. The shard then caught him just below the waist, about thigh height, the pistol pointed at his chest now and not his chin. The resulting flare up of intense pain as the projectile slammed into his chest plate was nearly breath taking. The padding and armour dissipated most of the force of the bullet, but not all. And all that meant was the bruise would cover his entire chest, not just a small point. He coughed. And grunted. Then, slammed his blade point first towards Eralams spine, roughly the mid back just below where the shoulder blades would be. THe landing was going to hurt. A lot. Eralam was not exactly light, but it beat the hell out of being shot in the face. 100 Percent of the time. He was resilient. His body healed faster, and could take a shit ton of damage, but it still......fucking.....hurt.

The point of the blade clangs into Eralam's back, but the armor there is on a different order altogether from the lighter plates on the arms. Brute force simply wasn't going to punch through, enchanted blade be damned. Meanwhile, ground.
According to the laws of common sense, they should hit the ground pretty fucking hard, with the Shard on top. Which worked well, because he did all his best work from the top. Eralam quickly tries to assume the mount. In other words, knees on the ground, drawn as close to his opponent's armpits as possible. Legs next to the opponent's torso, effectively trapping it in place if it all worked out.
And if he tried to bring the butt of his pistol down on the Mando's faceplate with the force of a hydraulic hammer, what of it? Just go with the flow, geeze.

Indeed the landing was hard, and Ashrah felt a rib snap. That. Sucked.
Ow....
Eralam was attempting to get full mount, and considering he weighed a considerable amount more than Ashrah, it might not prove too difficult. But, considering the Shard was at Ashrahs waist when they landed, he had some options. Letting his sword go, Ashrah attempted to wrap his arms around Eralams head and get his legs around the mid back of the RoboNinja. Ashrah might actually be strong enough to hold this position for a little while, if for no other reason than to ponder his situation. He was going for Full Guard. He knew he didn't have enough leverage to buck the heavy bastard off. He idly noted the paint all scratched on his chest plate due to Eralams crotch, and that annoyed him even more. Punching something that doesn't feel pain is a stupid idea, and he nearly succumbed to his rage and punched Era, but decided against it. There had to be a way out.....He would figure it out...
