Entering the offices of Naboo's Senatorial delegation on silent-hinged white wooden doors, one was transported almost into another time and place. A circular waiting room opened out equally in all directions from the door, and in the center of the room, raised about two feet above the floor, was a small pool of crystal clear water, 15 feet in diameter and 4 or 5 feet deep, with exotic fish and plants imported from Naboo's oceanic core. Soft lights lit the room from hidden glowpanels within the walls and the rim of the room. The walls of the chamber were covered with coarse, beige stone, and the thick carpeting was a rich, sky blue, as was the painted ceiling. A row of chairs circled the outer wall, interrupted only by four doors at the four compass points: The entrance at one's back, or "south," the private offices of the Senate delegation to the "north," and sound-proofed conference rooms to the "east" and "west." Through the northern door, which stood open, could be seen a sharp black metal desk, where a secretary waited to welcome any visitors, and a second door, no doubt leading to the Senator's office itself. Arrayed on the stone walls were a dozen holoprojectors, showing live streams from the Senate proceedings, the HoloNet News in Galactic Basic, Naboo, and Gungan Basic dialects, and various scientific and nature programs.

=Alyse Naberrie= Returning to her offices after the lengthy conversation in Senator Koronov's office, Alyse finally had a time to sit down privately and review the intelligence gathered so far by the Naboo on the Vice Chancellor's unfortunate end. Passing through her office without a word, she exchanged nods with Naboo and Gungans alike, but did not break her stride for an instant. Closing the door of her personal space, she took a seat at her personal desk, and let out a long sigh as she leaned back in her easy chair. Then, she ripped the braids out of her hair, helped herself to a glass of Corellian Whiskey from her secret stash, and opened her datapad.

=Alyse Naberrie= The basic storyline from Naboo had not changed. The deceased Vice Chancellor had been vacationing in one of the remote areas of the Lake Country, with only a single bodyguard. It seemed that he had wanted to get away from all the stress of the Republic, and had not expected any danger. But the assassin had been very thorough, and Darma, if he awoke at all, never had a chance to fight back. What was worse, the security forces were now pretty certain that the assassin had left Naboo, without a trace or a clue that might lead to justice. The Naboo were embarrassed, and Queen Adrianna herself was rather upset. Alyse knew what she needed to do. There was little, if anything, she could accomplish on Coruscant with the Senate in its current state. Even the election would be a circus. Her place was on Naboo. If Thul and Koronov succeeded in their anti-corruption platform, then she would return. If not -- well, it was better not to think about the alternative.
Standing up from her desk, she drained her glass, then went to find Representative Nertt, the Gungan member of Naboo's Senatorial delegation, and her deputy. "Louie, I am going home to Naboo. Our people are restless after the assassination, and they need some Senatorial reassurance." She smiled faintly. "I have already made the order, you are delegated as Acting Senator for Naboo until I return. Work with Senator Koronov, and call me if you need me."
=Louie Nertt= "I won't let you down, my dear." Said the Gungan in a surprisingly warm voice. "Go. Comfort our people." His long arms swallowed the young woman in a hug.
=Alyse Naberrie= "Ooh." She gasped in surprise. "Goodbye, Louie." The counterparts bowed to each other, and then Alyse exited the offices, heading directly to the Senate hangars.

=Louie Nertt= Blissfully unaware of the implications of his actions in the Senate, and feeling full of pride and excitement at the Supreme Chancellor's speech, Acting Senator Louis Nertt returned to the offices of the Naboo delegation, whistling and cooing to himself. A Republic for the people, that is what everyone had wanted for so long. That was what Democracy was all about, right? The people run their own government. No more stupid week long debates in the senate, no more deadlocked court systems taking months or years to convict senators of bribery. Alyse would be so proud when she got back from Naboo. Oh yeah, Naboo. That dulled Louie's spirits for a moment as he remembered the somber reason why Alyse had left him in charge in the first place. But wait, wouldn't less government mean less time spent on Coruscant and more time spent back home on Naboo. "Meesa liking that!" He said to no one in particular.
Just then, there was a knock at the door of the nearly-empty office.
=Capt. Wallace= "Representative Nertt, this is Detective Wallace from the Republic Guard's investigations division. Do you have a moment?" A friendly but heavy voice asked.
=Louie Nertt= Trying his best to put on a serious face, the Gungan pranced over to the door and threw it open. Outside were three men in full Republic Guard armor. "Why, of coursen, meesa always helping the poleesa. Yousa coming inside." And he stood aside, allowing his guests to enter.
=Capt. Wallace= "Thank you, Representative." He said, bowing slightly. He had carefully crafted a story for the Gungan's consumption, but he was beginning to suspect that he'd been wasting time. The Gungan was in a good mood, and completely off his guard. This was going to be easy. "We are investigating the murder of Bundi Darma, and we believe his killed had help here on Coruscant. We have some questions for you about recent events at the Senate. Senator Naberrie said that you might be able to help us, so here we are. Will you have a seat, please?"

Fidgeting not because of nerves, but out of a sense of excitement and self-importance, Representative Nertt took a seat.
=Capt. Wallace= "Where were you when you first heard about Bundi Darma's death? Who was with you?" The question was innocent enough.
=Ex-Rep. Nertt= "Well, we were in Senator Koronov's office, discussing the upcoming election, and whether Mr. Dmitri should run for Chancellor or not, when the Princess showed up and asked to speak to him privately. I never, ever guessed her reasons, but while we waited for them in another room, Miss Alyse got an urgent call from the Queen." He began. And in his disjointed way, Louie proceeded to tell the detective all about Koronov's secret meeting, never realizing that the real subject of the Captain's questions was Standash Thul, and not some perceived conspiracy against the late Vice Chancellor Darma. Unknowingly, he provided the rogue Republic guardsman with many new names.
=Capt. Wallace= Wallance laughed inwardly as he planned his next actions against the Standash Thul conspirators. They would all be investigated for their treachery, and, if necessary, revenge would be taken. He was especially pleased to confirm just how deeply Koronov's involvement went, for he was certain that the dissolution of the Republic had to have come from a more experienced mind than Thul's. Now he had his first real clue as to who was pulling her strings. Destroying such a powerful politician would be a feather in his cap. And with the Republic gone, he was free to carry out his own justice, unfettered by the stupidity of the Courts. When the Gungan had finished, he smiled a great, toothy, fake smile. "Thank you, Mr. Nertt. You have been most helpful. Is there anything else you'd like to share? Any other visitors Princess Thul might have had in recent days."
=Ex-Rep. Nertt= The Gungan shook his head. "Meesa already telling you everything."
=Capt. Wallace= His smile faded. "Good." He motioned to his men. "Take him away, and dispose of him like the rest of the trash." He turned on his heel and exited Naberrie's former office.
=Ex-Rep. Nertt= The Gungan stared at the four faceless Guardsmen, his mouth agape, not comprehending the situation until it was too late. Roughly, they seized the alien, bound and gagged him, and dragged him through the now-largely-empty corridors of the Senate offices. Descending a service lift to the basement, and into a garbage incineration room. Louie's eyes bulged in horror as they drew knifes and descended on him like savages. His remains would never be found.
