Refuge is a town inside the facility provided to agents by the Mysterious Man to give their lives a sense of comfort and normalcy while they are off duty. This is a place where agent's families, husbands, wives, children, pets, can have a home safe from the treachery of the Force War spanning across the galaxy. Agents are also allowed to bring family non-immediate family members to the Nexus, however they must remain in Port Town for security reasons.
The Organization provides individual or shared apartments for each agent. Each variation comes standard it's own kitchen, common area, dining area, one to three bedrooms, one to two refeshers, and individual storage, however each variation can be upgraded and decorated how agents please. The inside of homes are not monitored for privacy reasons, however, communications are traced for security reason.
The common areas of Refuge include a school designed specifically for up and coming agents as well as a school for those who are not. A play area is provided for children not yet ready to begin training or who are not training at all. There are restaurants and parks within the common areas as well as several stores that carry day to day items such as groceries and clothing. The common areas are closely monitored by the communications hub as well as guards stationed for protection of the citizens as well as the Organization.

Refuge; a town within the Nexus Facility, provided to all Organization agents by the Mysterious Man. Designed to give a sense of comfort and normalcy while off duty, this is a place where families can have a safe haven from the dangers and perils of the ongoing 'Force War' that is spanning the known galaxy. Beautiful, pristine and idyllic, Refuge is the place to live, when working for The Organization. The Mysterious Man, and now The Illusionist, takes care of their people.

After making his way through Port Town and entering Refuge, The Organization's 'town' that housed employees and agents, Vao made his way to a public holo-terminal and keyed in the frequency that he had been given. As the call connected, Vao stepped back, took a quick glance around, and then refocused his attentions on who appeared before him.

A holographic image of The Illusionist shimmered to life before the blue-skinned Twi'lek. Turning to face the projector on his end, subsequently causing him to face the Twi'lek, The Illusionist was puffing on a lit cigarette in one hand, holding a glass in the other.
Mr. Vao. I was wondering when you would reach out to us. I'm glad to see you made it with little trouble. I trust the new development is up to your specifications?
Taking a drag from the cigarette, The Illusionist observed the Twi'lek, gauging his response.

Noting the simple appearance of the man being projected before him, black suit jacket with a white collared shirt underneath, top buttons undone, the Twi'lek replied to the question asked.
"Haven't seen it for myself, yet. But, I must say, you work quickly. I've seen quick work in my days, but nothing like this. Was there something specific you wanted from me?"
Skipping the pleasantries and formalities was sort of his thing. Not to be rude to the man who just invested a lot of money to set him up comfortably, but in his line of work, formalities generally drew things out longer than they needed to be. And that made most people nervous, and in turn, unpredictable.

The Twi'lek was certainly straight to the point. He could admire that quality. It pays to have special connections, Mr. Vao. As I understand it, you have several yourself.Pausing to take a sip from his glass, the Illusionist continued speaking.Since the fall of my predecessor, I have been doing everything in my power to rebuild. No easy feat, considering the state of the galaxy. What I require from you is simple. Reach out to people. Do your job and everything else will fall into place. If you happen upon any of the following...he pointed down to the slot near the base of the projector, where a datapad containing select dossiers, was ejected....I would like to be informed.

Well, the Illusionist wasn't wrong. Having connections is how he had managed to build up his own network. Reaching out and retrieving the datapad, the Twi'lek stuffed it into an inside pocket on his vest.
"Do my job? That it? Who are you looking for, anyways? Because I do have a fee for finding specific people. The more dangerous, the higher the fee..."
Bargaining. Something he was exceptionally good at. Regardless of who he was dealing with, there was always room to bargain. And given the resources of The Illusionist, pushing a little harder was deemed an acceptable risk, in his mind. Finding people was easy. Finding people who didn't want to be found was slightly more difficult. And finding those living off the grid was still doable, but it took time, effort and money. So, depending on who The Illusionist was looking for, decided how much this was going to cost him.

With a slight smile, the hologram of The Illusionist, turned and walked over to a chair. Seating himself and placing his glass on the arm, he snuffed out his cigarette in the ashtray and replied to the Twi'lek.
Everything you want to know is on those dossiers. I am looking for people of exceptional skills and qualities. Something that would set them above everyone else. As for your fee, I have taken the liberty to set up an account under your Emporium. I am certain you will find the compensatory amount satisfactory. Most of these people are every day people. But there are a select few that may be a little more difficult to find. Regardless of the complexity of the task ahead, I am confident in your abilities, Mr. Vao. We'll be in touch.
Without so much as another word, the hologram dissipated as the link was terminated. Everything that needed to be said, had been said. Vao didn't need to know the specifics of what he had been asked to do, just yet. As far as he knew, this was merely a routine tracking assignment. And for all intents and purposes, it was.

Well, he certainly didn't mince words. Nor did he kriff around. Money was already in his hands. Normally, being paid for a job before it was done was not something Vao liked to accept. However, given the influence and reach of The Illusionist, it seemed appropriate to just go ahead and do what needed to be done. Ensuring the datapad was tucked safely within his vest, the Twi'lek turned and made his way back through Port Town to the Emporium...

*The hidden entryway was a lobby of sorts, and Aedon was already impressed with the level of opulence displayed there. But, once he was on the fully glass-enclosed turbolift that shot downward into the Skip itself, his eyes were opened to a whole new level of extravagance in the form of the place disclosed to him as "Refuge" by Operative Strahovski. This subterranean structure was a city unto itself, complete with multiple buildings and facilities, different species of flora that made for truly beautiful landscaping, and even a synthetic day and night cycle, from what Aedon was able to tell. Checking his chrono - which was set to Skip time, and thus, Galactic Standard time - he noticed that the lighting was pretty much on the spot for 1734 hours, which meant that they had a little over three hours before the synthetic "sunset" would occur, provided they were following the GST calendar of 35 hour days.*
*As the turbolift reached - what Aedon assumed was - the "ground floor", the three of them walked out into a nicely-decorated open-air plaza. The air smelled clean, and slightly-sweet; like the scent that came after the rains on Dantooine. Aedon breathed deeply, his mind feeling much more at ease here than it was just before. Setting his case down for a moment so he could take it all in, he looked back over his shoulder toward Miranda and Walker.*
"Now this...I certainly did not expect. I'm pleasantly-surprised, though. Quite surprised..."
*He leaned on the case for a moment, crossing his legs over to the side of him while he watched the scenery around him.*

Once Operative Strahovski had revealed the hidden doorway, Walker's eyes opened wide with complete and utter amazement. He had never realized that The Organization's headquarters were so well hidden from the rest of the skip, and walking from Port Town to the 'Refuge' was like night and day. Port Town was dark, dirty, where as the 'Refuge' was bright, clean and pristine. Port Town was like a hub of the criminal underworld and the Refuge was like a hidden paradise open to only a select few. Walker felt kind of honored that he was being allowed to walk in a place like this. As He rode the turbolift with Strahovski and Aedon, down to a nicely-decorated open plaza floor, he thought on what kind of other people did his new employer, employed. Then Aedon spoke and Walker found himself nodding his head in agreement with the slim lavender-haired man. Walker stood at attention with his arms crossed behind his back and stared at the masterpiece that was the Refuge and waited for Strahovski to continue to lead them to their destination.

Port Town was what one would expect a port this far out of the way to be. Refuge was anything but. Its opulence and luxurious splendor was only outshone by nature's beauty, of which had been carefully woven in to the design of the small community. While here, it was quite easy to forget that they were out in the middle of nowhere, in a place commonly associated with criminals, smugglers and other nefarious beings. Aptly named, Refuge was home for nearly everyone within the Organization. Family, friends, operatives and field agents. Laboratory technicians, scientists, researchers. All of them were contained here in the multi-story complex. The simulated day and night cycles helped keep things routine, while the simulated breeze, chattering of wildlife and scent of flowers kept them in touch with nature. For being a hollowed out rock in space, Refuge sure managed to make one forget that concept rather quickly.
"Indeed. This was The Mysterious Man's original vision. Elegant architecture blended with nature. The Illusionist merely nurtured that vision and it gave birth to what you see now. The original Nexus was destroyed, but this seems to have done it justice, at least in my opinion. Caring for those under his employ and ensuring they are taken care of is one of The Illusionist's top priorities. This way, please."
Miranda motioned to the holographic arrows on the building surfaces and archway entrances on the bridges that extended over the massive lakes that were located here. 'Combat & Tactics Simulator' was the direction in which they were heading, where both Aedon and Walker would undergo a handful of assessment tests to see exactly where their fitness levels, tactical knowledge, and personal combat skills were at, and what needed to be improved.

*Aedon listened with much interest to Operative Strahovski's explanation. What was said was likely what went well on the brochure. What he heard was that this was a well-concealed, very secure means of keeping tabs on agents and their families. If you kept your people (and subsequently, the people they cared about) close, it often deters them from acting against the established order. Even if, say, they were to discover that your "lofty goals" weren't altogether beneficial or for the common good. Holding that particular vibroblade over one's head tended to keep them in line, more often than not.**All of that aside, once Miranda had finished her "tour guide" explanation, Aedon followed the young woman's lead as she brought the lot of them to their next destination.*

Refuge continued to function and serve as the home for The Organization's employees and agents. It remained quiet and undisturbed by the galactic events at large, with some of the families living here completely unaware that there was a galaxy outside of Refuge.

It was a short walk to the Oasis, which appeared to be the Organization's point of respite for their operatives. Aedon had to admit, the facility seemed more than adequate. Walking into the lobby, he observed the opulent decor - alabaster walls with shimmering marbled veins, silver and gold-trimmed pillars strewn throughout, comfortable seating, an ergonomic and modern setup for the receptionist's area, moving walkways for ease of traversing the facility. Aedon tucked the helmet of the infiltration suit to his side as he crossed the threshold, noting several of the facility's staff as he entered. There seemed to be a mixture of both organic and droid staff members; the former being among the more attractive of the prospective species, although the latter held a luster of polish and shine that suggested the facility cared a great deal about maintaining their image.*
*As he approached the receptionist's desk, Aedon reached up to unclasp the neck area of his suit, allowing it to open up. He closed his eyes for a moment, rolling his head and neck around, and heard a pleasant female voice from in front of him."Uh oh...I know that look." She giggled "How can we help you today, sir?"Aedon's eyes opened to see a rather-attractive Chagrian woman, which was saying quite a lot, considering the less-attractive males of the species. She had fair, blue skin with speckles of cyan scattered across her features. Her eyes were a startling amethyst color, which Aedon thought provided a welcome contrast to all of the varying shades of blue. She had two short horns that protruded from the front of her scalp which were painted with an aesthetical design that Aedon found quite curious and alluring. Her lethorns had the same design, as well.He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck and rustling his hair a bit."Just need somewhere to soak away this misery. They've given me a twelve-hour respite - I intend to use at least four of them in a recovery bath."She smiled "Very well. Did you have your credentials?"A sudden trill of beeping could be heard on the console in front of her. As she looked down, her eyes widened for the briefest of moments before she composed herself ever-so-gracefully."Apologies, Mr. Montrose. It appears as though the Director has forwarded us your credentials through Azura. He's stated you're to be given full access to our facilties and services. How would you like to proceed?"Aedon raised his eyebrows in surprise."I, uh...I guess that recovery bath would be a nice start. And if you have a medbot available, I'd appreciate a quick scan to make sure I don't need any bacta treatments or anything. The, uh, smell is really hard to get outta my hair, I've discovered."The Chagrian laughed girlishly for a moment, then keyed in a few commands on the screen in front of her."I've heard that can happen. I guess that's one benefit of my species - total lack of hair."Her tone had suddenly switched somewhat, and Aedon's empathic skills picked up on it, too. With a sly grin, he retorted."Total?" He smirked "Well...some people have all the luck, eh? Say - is it all right if I have some refreshments waiting for me? I won't need much; just a little food for some energy and something to drink?"She was suddenly all-business again, although her gaze was still a bit flirtatious."Of course!" She tapped away at the screen some more "We'll make sure you have an attendant should you need anything else, as well." After a few more keystrokes, she smiled at him "Everything should be ready for you! If you'll follow the path to your right, our baths are just beyond the annex. We hope you enjoy your stay!"------------------------------------------------------------- After a bit of instruction, and an uphill battle that ended with Aedon nearly screaming at the AI to "just get him out of the karking thing", the Zeltron had finally managed to temporarily rid himself of the IS-15 tactical suit and made his way to the recovery baths. He settled himself in, and took a few minutes to just enjoy the bubbling jets as they coaxed his aching muscles into submission. That, coupled with the refreshments consisting of some energizing fruit and a nice selection of seltzer with a tangy bite to it, and the past few hours of rigorous labor seemed to melt away.*
*It settled Aedon into the proper frame of mind, as he was currently looking over the information that Operative Strahovski had sent him.Operative Candidacy Assessment Test #3: Singular Combat
-- Your third assessment will be one-on-one combat with another operative, to be determined. You should be prepared for any number of scenarios. The simulation will be considered complete when either you or your opponent are incapacitated or are unable to continue. You or your opponent can also force the other to surrender - although this is highly not recommended. Consider the possibilities of your capture, if you need sufficient motivation.
Test will be conducted in Simulation Room #S-12, as before. Be prepared to take down your opponent with lethal force. They've been instructed to do the same.
- Operative Strahovski There wasn't a dossier, or a breakdown, like there was last time. And yet, the situation was quite clear - Aedon needed to be ready to put his life on the line, yet again. Something in Aedon began to stir again...a little more than the act that he was putting on during the simulations. It was like he was back in the Slums on Coruscant. The Amethyst District. Every day was a challenge to survive. The next minute wasn't promised to you. He'd almost forgotten how it felt. Just like that, he was...ready. Eager, even.Another set of beeps came through on the datapad he was holding. His personal communicator, and this time, it was Na'me who had contacted him...Hey Gav,
I realized you'd taken the ETA-5 out on a joyride, and I figured it had to do with meeting Jerrak on one of the other Skips. Since they've had you out there for a while, I figured I'd give you a wave and send you something that I managed to find. You're gonna get a kick outta this one, man. Check it.
- Na'me And then, as he was taking a drink of his tangy seltzer, he saw it......And before he could prepare himself, he let out a rather comical spit-take, coughing and sputtering, before breaking out into a fit of laughter."Oh...my kriffin'--what the frack, Mal?! Were ya short on creds or something??? Geez, I can't even look at it! It's like seeing my own sister!"And apparently...that wasn't the WORST of them. Several more images came up, and Aedon nearly blushed.*
*Nearly.*
*And with that, Aedon closed out the file, dropped the datapad off to the side, and just proceeded chortle inwardly like an idiot for the next half hour.*
*.....He'd figure out how to make better use of that blackmail later.

In the few hours since Aedon had been "taking it easy", he'd had some time in the spa, a few laughs, and then had the Organization's AI consort, Azura, direct him to his assigned quarters for the duration of his assessment period. It was pretty much everything the AI had explained to him on the way over - a basic condo-style apartment, with a common area, dining space, a decent kitchen, and a master and guest bedroom, with one and a half 'freshers. The master bedroom had its own en suite refresher that Aedon quite liked. And the bed itself was quite comfortable, he found, once he'd laid down for a quick nap. A few hours later, and he woke to find himself feeling more or less rejuvenated; ready to tackle the next objective.*
*The third assessment was meant to be a one-on-one combat simulation. Lethal force was authorized, and Aedon would know next-to-nothing about his opponent going in. He supposed that there might be situations exactly like these in his "career" with this Organization. That was what he probably should be thinking about, but he didn't want to clutter his mind with too much just yet. For now, it was enough to focus on the fight. The rest would come once he knew where he stood with them.*
*He had to think about how he wanted to approach this fight. Aedon's physical prowess was more in his speed and dexterity. He had spent most of his early years being quicker than his opponents, and more wily than those who hunted him. Yeah, sure, it was easy enough to spot his purple mop in the crowd, but Aedon was also good at making himself inconspicuous and unassuming. Handling himself in a fight usually came down to being quicker and smarter than his opponent. His tactical knowledge came in the form of the Verpine martial arts he was taught as a kid and the expert fencing he learned later in life. With his current tools and weapons, he figured that he would be better off relying on his skill with a sword and the Verpine blade-fighting style, keeping his blaster and whatever small demo charges he would have as a standby. He looked over the table in front of him.*
*Sitting on it was the IS-15 suit, one of his two Death Hammer blasters, the kata-style short blade that came with the suit, and the tactical harness that he wore over the suit itself that had his holsters, pouches, and anchor points for his tools on it. For the next while, he would spend his time preparing his weapons, strategizing, and readying his tool kit for the encounter to come.

Aedon was ready.*
*Well, to say that he was "ready" was likely an overstatement, but, he was as ready as he was going to get, considering the stakes.
He stood next to the table in his apartment, having already donned the IS-15 suit. This attempt at fitting the suit had gone much better than the time before. Aedon learned to turn the dial incrementally, rather than all at once. The fit was now much better. He was securing his armaments to their anchor points, adjusting his harness, and double-checking all of the levels on his suit to make sure everything was operating optimally. He slicked his hair back, folding and clipping the lengthy bits so that he could wear the helmet to the suit comfortably. Once everything was attached and secure, he anchored the suit's helmet to the magnetic waist-point, slid the vibro-kata back into its sheath, and holstered his Death Hammer blaster before looking himself over in the mirror that stood not too far from him, next to the apartment's main door.He barely recognized himself. Now, he was the "Operative". It was a far cry from "shoddy smuggler captain." It was so foreign to him, the idea that he was willing to take his first steps into a more clandestine lifestyle after spending so much time in the spotlight as a business owner and working a crappy day job being a lackluster peacekeeper. Now, it seemed, he was taking steps to affect actual change in the galaxy.*
*Or, maybe, it was just an attempt at making a change in himself.*
*One could only wonder...
Once he felt confident that he looked the part of "the Operative", Aedon took his leave of the Refuge apartments, and began making his way back to the CATS Annex.
