With a sudden jerk of his head, he let out a laugh a bit louder than intended. Oh how easy it was to make people believe something that wasn't true due to first impressions and appearances. No doubt some of the masters would find him and speak their mind, chastising him for not keeping his students in line and attacking one of their own. He had a feeling nothing really happened, based on Mariah's words, yet he was certain there would be some twisting of realities to keep from making the student look like an utter fool and weakling, never realizing they were actually dealing with a skilled opponent. "Well, your youthful beauty would certainly fool nearly anyone you meet. At first, that is. A trait we seem to share. When you look young, people see a less experienced warrior. Couple that with your stealth tricks and it ultimately seals their belief. A blessing in battle but a burden at any other point." He was expecting her to call him out on his hiding games, though it was implied as a 'trait they shared.'
His attention shifted back to her as she turned fully to him, his smirk fading as he watched her with focused eyes. It was slightly surprising when closed the distance between them and slipped down to her knees next to him. He noticed the look in her eye, the focus stare that seemed to try and figure him out further. Even more was the fact she looked as if she had every intention of staring where he was was. She had questions or was otherwise curious about him.
When she spoke of the facade continuing, calling him master in the process, he only shook his head with the lightest of smiles. He could see the kneeling aspect played as a student learning from their master. Yet, it would require someone to pass by to notice that, to which he was thankful they were outside the sight line of anyone who might have been wandering the courtyard this late. He thought about correcting her on calling him master once more, but opted against it. unlike everyone else who just did it because or forgot his mention of it, Mariah was intentionally doing so and he wouldn't allow her the satisfaction of growing irritated.
But as his eyes looked into hers, he couldn't help but feel there was more to her words than what was revealed on the surface. Was there anything or was he just over thinking it? In the moment, he couldn't figure it out. In truth, she wasn't only the first person within the academy to hear him play, but to see his nature when no one else was around. If anyone saw him sitting here relaxing as he was playing soothing songs, they'd think even less of him than normal. That tough appearance, while still true to himself, was built as the only appearance. And being 'caught' like this left him a little unfocused in reading between the lines.
Then came the question. To the point, yet covering so many things. He could figure with what she knew of him, it boiled down to hiding his presence, being here when not a Sith, teaching these students, and putting up with the other masters and students. Finally breaking her gaze, he turned his attention to the sky. "Do what exactly? Why deal with the judgement of others? Why teach these students? Why remain here when I'm not a Sith and see things so differently than them? Or maybe, the bigger question, why do I hide myself much like you do?" He looked to her out of the corner of his eyes for a hard moment, wondering if she'd provide a more specific answer, though it wouldn't matter in the end. "I came here four months ago when I felt the convergence of darkness. Nothing I haven't felt before, but there was something different about this one: unity. I had to know what it was about. After years of wandering the stars, unable to find a place I could belong or whose ideals could handle my own, I found a home here. The first person I met was the Sith'ari. He found my experiences and knowledge of great worth, though I wasn't a Sith. It had been awhile since I had taught an apprentice and I wished to pass on what I knew, so he allowed me to teach to create a greater breed of warrior. As for the judgments passed to me by those around me, well, let's just say when you reach my age, you stop concerning yourself with what others think. I was granted this role by the Sith'ari, end of story. They can say what they wish, but as long as I do what I set out to, then their opinion don't matter."
Though he brought it up, he had intentionally left out an answer to hiding his presence. As one who did so herself, he wanted to see just how much that knowledge was worth seeking out.

If there was one difference that Mariah could seal, it was his ease and openness, even towards a woman he had just met. His laughter, smile, his explanation. He left her to ask the questions, and he answered them. However, despite all other mischief intentions within her expressions, the woman before him carried herself with a lingering sense of caution, even if she was the one who caught him off-guard sending an array of questions his way. The more she discovered, though, the more guarded she grew. The way he spoke about their shared traits. Wandering the stars. Unable to find a place where he belonged. His age. Her jaw locked. The fact that he didn't understand the deeper meaning of her earlier words was now a matter of the past.
Again, it was that same story woven around unity. Hearing it from the Jen'ari made it a difficult thing to believe. Anything she could glean about the Blackguard was grounded around those principles, though. To hear it from another who refused to walk their path but still train their young solidified that aspect for her. She would want to stay close for the next several years, to see what would come of this Sith'ari's goals for his people. In that same thought, a single ray of light dispelled some of the shadows that shrouded this enigma sitting before her.
When his explanation was all said and done, it was easy enough to realize that he didn't answer this bigger question, as he had put it -- to hide himself as she does. There was a lingering feeling that she shouldn't take the bait, if but for the sole reasoning of all of their similarities up until this point. If they truly had so much in common, though, then this was one thing she knew would define another difference between them, and thus, the crimson haired woman met her own hesitance with a headstrong force. While she could have simply asked, the harshness of her usual demeanor started to crack through her inquisitive surface.
"If you've truly stopped concerning yourself with what they think, then why hide the truth of yourself from them?" Her tone carried an abrupt sharpness, and her eyes narrowed upon him, as if she waited for some sense of a verbal onslaught in defense to it. "What are you gaining by hiding, Gavin?"

From time to time, Gavin’s eyes shifted to see her reactions. Not once did she speak about his claim of similar traits, to which he found interesting. But perhaps it was answered in her expressions. It was almost as if he had hit home with her, not only in his initial comment, but his explanation thus far. It was as if everything she heard was a reflection of herself. But that couldn’t have been true. No way Vannihr could have been that accurate. Finding someone that similar to himself should have been an impossible feat.
But then came the question he knew she’d look to, the very one he withheld. Sometimes a person could be measured and figured out by the questions they asked or the way they spoke. Sometimes, it simply shed a small beam of light on the bigger mystery. The way she asked the question was different than the rest. It was something she wished an answer to for one reason or another. What followed could end up shining a wider beam on her.
Leaning back, Gavin let himself lay upon the ground, arms stretched out behind his head. He looked casual and comfortable, but when he spoke, his voice was serious and focused. "I started hiding my presence when I began my wandering years ago. At that time, I had chosen solitude, my own self appointed exile. I didn’t want to be found, didn’t want to be noticed. Moving from planet to planet, keeping myself unremarkable in the eyes of others, allowed me to move around without much more than a glance. I remained all but invisible to anyone I passed. After so long, it became a natural instinct. But it still holds purpose. In battle, you become underestimated. Even in everyday life, people think little of you. The reason why I keep all that hidden now is because they are not ready to know who I am and what I capable of. Just telling them wouldn’t do much. Sometimes, truth can only be revealed through proper revelation." He then looked over to her. "So why tell you then? Simply put, you are not like them. If there was ever a person who could understand, I think you would."

Despite her harshness, Mariah watched as Gavin only laid himself upon the ground and stretched. For whatever instinct had flowed through her, it led her left hand to find the silver and onyx hilt within her cloak. She understood more, why this one. Why Aria led her to him. What she could see in him and why she wanted so desperately for this conversation to take place. For all that he had spoken of up to this point -- all of their similarities -- there was one thing that separated the two of them. One defining difference, a lesson that she had often attempted to guide Mariah to learn: one had found comfort and simplicity even after all the years of solitude; the other still clung to the very basics of survival, predator or prey. Even now.
It was the sound of his voice, now grave and speaking every word as if held some significant importance, that halted her from acting. At the mention of his exile, her fierce crimson gaze fell from him and found an empty space between the two. His continued explanation resonated in more ways than she would let on, in more ways than she would ever admit to. Her fingers brushed against the silver hilt, even when his words soothed away the murderous impulses that had flared up within her.
Even when she could hear the slight rustle of his movement, those blue eyes upon her, she remained statuesque and unmoving. There were several beats of nothing when his explanation had reached completion, the sounds of bustling students and masters from afar offering the only refuge from what the woman considered deafening silence. With everything said, there was only one thing she could conjure up in response.
"You're a fool."
Her words were quiet, but piercing. He could continue to live here, in his newly established home. Comfortable. Hiding, if he so wished. However, it was that life that drew the line in the sand between the two of them. It was this, Mariah was sure, that her own entity had wanted to show her, to prove that it was possible, even for her. Now, more than ever, she wanted to leave this one behind her and confront her for the trouble which she had caused. It was another beat before Mariah could remove her hand from her saber’s hilt and stand to her feet. Her gaze not once found his again.
"May the Force guide you, to one day revealing your truth."
In any other scenario, she would have simply walked away without a word. However, it boiled down to one thing. It was no fault of his own that she found him here. He gave her all of the answers she sought. With at least something of a farewell, she turned from him and began her steady departure from the courtyard.

Her presence did nothing to betray her feelings over his words, but her gaze, or lack thereof was enough to tell Gavin that what he said had somehow struck a cord with the crimson haired woman. To what degree, though, he could not tell. His eyes remained fixed upon her, trying to figure her out, to grasp what she was feeling. But it was all for not. While the mystery that was Gavin was slowly starting to unravel, her's was only thickening, kept locked by her will and desire.
It had been a long time since he had concerned himself with the aspect of survival. More than once had he faced death only to be pulled back to the living realm. After those few encounters, he had lost his fear of it, especially when those times came at his own choice of sacrifice. If it came, it came. No point in trying to fight it. But it was more than that that numbed his sense of self preservation. It was the many years of living. Watching everything fade away with time, friends moving on, family passing away, and orders crumbling, it had left him with nothing for some time. It was this that led to his exile, his endless wandering. If he was attached to nothing, then there was nothing to lose. But that, in turn, gave way to solitude and emptiness. After decades, he desired for a home again, for someone to walk beside him, anything, to alleviate the growing pain. Any normal person would have ended their own life, but he had been incapable of such, only ready to accept death from an outside source.
It was a long time before she finally spoke, her response one that had been unexpected. Still, he only looked at her, seeing her gaze remain turned away. Her words were much quieter than they had been, further signifying that what he said had resonated within her mind in some way. Shortly after, she stood before giving a farewell and turning away. His gaze returned to the sky as night was taking over. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had upset her in some way. Taking a deep breath, he pushed himself to his feet and called out to her. "Have you been given a place to stay for the night?" If she had already been giving a room for the night, then there was little else he felt he could do. But if she hadn't, he would give her access to one to give her a more comfortable night of rest.

In the few short moments she had, separating herself from Gavin, Mariah had managed to silence the livid thoughts that seethed their way to the surface. There was no reason to continue dwelling on them. The two had their similarities. Too many of them, revealed in such a short time, but they were only similarities. That was all. He had no questions for her; her questions had been amply satisfied. There was no sense in lingering here any longer. Meeting him changed nothing. If she was attached to nothing, then there was nothing to lose, and that, in turn, gave way to the solitude and emptiness. However, what could earn her undesirable pity was simply a single constant in the chaos of life. When allies turned to foes, when her life was put on the line countless times, she had only herself to depend on living another day.
She had thought her cruel words would have been enough to halt Gavin, yet she still heard his voice calling back out to her. Although she willed her feet to keep moving forward, she found herself paused in place. After all that was said, he still revealed at least some concern for her. He had as much will and patience as the one in her head.
Stepping back, she turned to stand profile to him, offering her answer over her shoulder. "I have a room within my ship."
In truth, she hadn't been given a room to rest within at the Academy. It wasn't a concern for the Jen'ari. It wasn't a concern for her. If it was a concern for Gavin, though, she felt as though she had no other option. If her answer wasn't sufficient for his liking, she would hear him out for the sole reason she didn't want him following her back to her ship. There was a sense of detachment with her carefully chosen words, after all. A wanderer to another, it was more imperative with him than any other that he not step foot within.

He had expected Mariah to keep walking, only yelling out as she walked, if that. Her mind seemed shaken, for lack of a better word, from what he could tell and had no desire to continue their conversation. If that would have been the case, then that would be the end of it as the chances of them ever crossing paths again seemed low. Yet, she had stopped and even turned to look at him with with a response.
As he had come to guess, she would end up sleeping aboard her ship before departure. It brought back memories of the countless nights her did himself, even in the first few days of his arrival at the academy. It was the home they knew, where they felt safe. If they needed a quick departure, they were already there, reducing the time to that of a ship start up. But he also knew, that in comparison to an actual bed, it wasn't very comfortable. All he could do was offer a place for the night. However, he didn't have the authority to grant access to even the guest rooms, much less make a request this late in the day. That left him but a single option, one he figured she'd be adamant in denying. "Well, if you want, you can use my room for the night. It'll certainly be more comfortable than your ship." As he spoke, he moved towards her, stopping a foot away. His eyes looked upon her, awaiting her answer.

Long ago, her ship was as much of a home as she could have imagined one. It wasn't until she brought in another young life to call it his as well that she realized how much it truly was lacking. Over the many years, her views of a home had shifted; however, nothing within the physical realm did. There were some things outside of her control, others she didn’t have the means to change. She wanted nothing more than to dismiss him, but when it boiled down, she couldn't deny that Gavin understood at least in part. However, it burned another question in her mind.
His room. At least the social implications weren't something she concerned herself with nor cared about. With the events of the day, surely this would be cherry on top if anyone caught wind, and she wondered if he realized this in any way. Either way, his words were true; it would provide more comfort than her ship. However, that was a theme she was finding wrapped around this entire conversation. Comfort, like he, was an enigma to her. With it, she found her burning question finally bubbling to the surface.
"Why?" she growled, hearing his quiet footsteps nearing her again. "What do you think you have to gain in giving up your quarters for a stranger? One who you will never see again after we part ways?"
It was clear that she was inwardly adamant in denying the offer. She didn't seek his aid, was outwardly cold towards him, yet he was still freely offering it. What did he have to gain? If it was solely up to her, she would have left by now. However, she didn't move. The voice in her head was gone, but it was if she could still hear her as clearly as when she sang over the melody of his flute. Follow and trust. No doubt she had planned for this. These stupid trials she placed for her at any given point.
"Where would you rest for the night? Your ship?"
Her voice was steadier now, only remnants of her earlier exasperation murmured in her tones. What more, her words also whispered the opposite of the refusal. She shifted her weight back to that guarded, even stance; however, she also turned just enough so that her back wasn't fully facing him. Whether she was offering him this chance to explain or simply guarding herself further from him was anyone's guess.

He could hear it in her voice when she responded. It was not an option she was for. To even think that it came at some sort of price or granted him any value. True enough, he felt the need to ask, to offer such aid. However, at no point was he too caught up with her choice. He would offer and she would decide. Once upon a time, he might have worked adamantly to ensure she took the offer, ran by some need of doing right. But that sentiment had long since past.
Tilting his head, he looked down at her, his calm easy expression never changing. "Gain? There is nothing to gain from it. I merely felt that it would be rude to not offer you a better place to rest before you depart. Whether or not you choose to take it remains your own." As her second question came into play, he noticed a shift in her voice. Through it all, she seemed to be considering the option. She even turned to face him, granting him a bit more attention so to hear his answer. Closing his eyes, he gave a shrug. "I think I'll stay out here tonight. It has been quite some time since I slept under the stars."

Kindness without gain. They had already gone over the clarification that he was not like those she expected to meet here. It seemed that the crimson haired woman before him needed further clarification that he wasn't like most others she had bumped into during her decades of travels. What more, his easiness and nonchalant attitude was as resilient as she was. Breaking him down, as if to try and reveal some hidden reality about him, was an impossible feat. Despite her cruelty, he still felt it would be rude not to offer...
"More of your codes?"
Crossing her arms over her chest, she felt a sting in her side. The injury she had nearly forgotten about in the puzzle of this encounter. If there was any good that would come in remaining within the Academy, it would be to be closer to the medbay, should she need it. She would have no need for a sudden escape tonight. Weighing her two options, it was a simple enough choice, if but for convenience purposes only.
"I may take you up on your offer," she murmured quietly in answer.
With the night beginning its descent over the sky, Mariah's gaze lifted up towards the sky at the mention of the stars. A low but thoughtful hum resonated from her. Iridonia was among the planets she had yet to visit, this being the first time her feet touched its soil. In her short time here, she didn't imagine that it would be a planet known for its stars. With the Sith Academy nearby, she was sure that the skies here would pale in comparison to others they had both seen.
"I can't imagine that you'll see very many stars."
She was sure that he would find content either way. It was the only thing about his nature that she could pick up on. Her gaze narrowed, however remaining staring into the distant heavens above. In the growing shroud of dusk, her mind painted the various skies she had seen. Those of the most recent past were hazed and unfamiliar, but the further she trekked back through her past the more vivid she could remember them being. It was an strange thing to realize, especially after all of these years. Her sister's song resonated again in her memory, and with it, she let out a defeated sigh.
"You said you found a home here." Her statement, though quiet, carried the same sharpness as some of her earlier comments, even if she now appeared at ease at least on the surface. Her eyes falling from the sky, she looked back over at him. Her expression revealed nothing truly remarkable, other than that crimson gaze searching him again. "Do you ever regret settling?"

His head dropped with a smirk at the mention of it being another one of his codes. He began to wonder if she would view most everything he did as such. Lifting his eyes to meet hers again, he couldn’t help but shake his head. "Code? No, more like common courtesy."
He said nothing as she decided to take him up on his offer of her nightly residence. Despite the fact she was settling into it, he felt it best not to poke the lion less its fury be unleashed. Looking up, he shrugged in a realized acknowledgment. In some ways, it was more a figure of speech, meant for the simple reality of sleeping outdoors. But it was a small fact that slipped his mind, nonetheless. The lights around them would make for poor stargazing. As with her, he, too, began to dwell on the skies he had seen aside from this one. So many to count, yet he remembered them all. Diamonds of the skies, they aided in casting aside fustration, doubt, and sorrow. At least they did for him, anyway. "Yes, suppose you’re right. Still, it’ll be fine."
He began to move passed her, ready to lead her on when her next questions came. He had made it a good five feet with his strides before stopping. He didn’t turn back to look her, silence hanging in the air for a few solid moments as he looked to find an answer for her. The hidden truth of it was that he had made a home for himself here, yet, it wasn’t the home he sought. Even now, he wondered if he’d ever find that feeling again. Time would only tell. For now, he’d remain and keep his eyes to the sky and see if that home would finding reach him again.
Taking a deep breath, he responded, turning his just enough to fix his gaze upon her. "No." It was all that came from him as he stood there for what seemed like forever. In his eyes, should Mariah have been able to see it from his stance, was something that hadn’t been seen there. They seemed to glow now instead of pierce, as if there was a faint sense of longing within them. Even if she couldn’t see his eyes, his softer, emptier tone suggested he was keeping something hidden.
After a few moments, he blinked and the piercing gaze came back as he turned and made his way inside.

After all they had discussed, Gavin still must not have realized that he showed her the first bit of true kindness in a long time. Dismissing common courtesy as codes, his empathy as foolish, Mariah was all too hasty to ignore the underlying message, that there were good people still in this universe. Even with his correction, she simply scoffed in some form of disbelief. She wouldn’t push the matter, though. Truth be told, she was growing weary of attempting to break him down, even just a little. All it was ever met with was a gentle correction, an easy smile, or like now, a smirk of some sort. Although she wouldn't admit to it, he had won.
She followed close behind him as he began to guide the two inside, no doubt fulfilling his earlier offer. Her eyes watched him carefully as they walked only those few steps. And then he stopped. Mariah, however, closed the gap between the two of them as she awaited his response. Something deep down told her that she already knew the answer, just from his hesitance alone. Still, she found herself stopping next to him, perhaps the closest she had allowed the two to be up until this point. Even though he didn’t look at her, instead staring off into those skies that cast away those churning doubts within his mind, when he turned to finally face her, Mariah’s crimson stare had locked upon his face. Watching, and oddly patient for his answer to come.
When his 'no' resounded, she could hear the hollowness in his tone. It was but a word. An answer to her question, and nothing more. For a woman who showed such a fiery disposition, she wasn't ignorant to these things. Apathetic at best, but regarding matters she was so closely woven with, that shell had dissipated, at least for now. Nonetheless, she didn’t say anything at first. She couldn't. Before she could, Gavin had already departed inside the Academy. With a faint shake of her head, she followed close behind with hastened steps.

Duvrax led Krokaa out to the entrance courtyard and over to the side out of the way of anyone coming or going. They had just finished their lesson with Gavin, spent over three hours in the training area and yet Duvrax had talked his friend into heading outside to continue training for a while longer. The resistance Krokaa put up was slight, mostly due to the time already spent. Yet, just as Duvrax did, so too did Krokka wish to keep growing and progressing, which came from training over and over until everything truly settling in one's mind.
As the two reached an area that seemed good for a little sparring, Krkoaa simply stood there with his arms crossed, looking at his friend.
"it's amazing to think that in only a couple days, you've completely changed. Your desire for power still remains the same, but everything else has changed. Always complaining and angry, never putting out more effort than required for these 'pathetic lessons, and bad-mouthing Gavin. And now look at you."
Duvrax merely scoffed with a shrug. He could see just as everyone did. The change was apparent and it all had to do with his encounter with the man. His eyes had been opened up in so many ways.
"What do you expect? I challenged him, thought him less than myself. And in no time, he took me down without breaking a sweat. I didn't realize it in the moment because of all that anger, but afterward, when I was able to think back, it became clear. It was beyond easy for him. His defense, his attacks, everything. I could feel it; he was holding himself back. When I went down, that alone was a shock to my system. It was like those impacts erased the anger I held towards him and his teachings as I saw them used against me as if it was nothing. And his following words only took it further. Face him yourself and you'll see. But hell, to be honest, we all changed after that, didn't we?" Duvrax ignited the red blade of the training saber and began spinning it around, seeking to further his own handling of the weapon with spins and the like as they talked.
"I'd be fooling myself if I said we didn't. We all felt as you did. Well, except for maybe Thera." He gave a chuckle at the mention. Everyone in the group knew of her crush at this point. It was only Kosrezic that made the big scene about it out in the open. "You were just the only one who really had the balls and stupidity to stand up to him. Then again, if you hadn't, I don't think we would be seeing things like we are now. He said we were ready to progress and would have started on these lessons today anyway, but we would still feel frustrated in learning only the basics and being held back. It's only through that we truly learned what he had in store for us."
"She sure does like setting her standards high, doesn't she? She might be the oldest in the group, but seriously? She crushes on a guy that we once thought in his late twenties, early thirties, which is bad enough, only to find out he's nearly two centuries old? I'm still trying to wrap my head around that part, but she just needs to find somebody a little closer to our age. He then thought on what Gavin hoped for them, giving Krokaa a nod. "That is quite the expectation, isn't it? To be capable of facing the Sith'ari? I doubt there are more than a couple who could stand up to Lord Savage as it is, and he feels that we can reach that? Most would call him insane if they heard that. Yet, it makes me proud to think that he can get us there. And I'm certainly not going to lay back and disappoint him. If that's the goal, then I'll spend every opportunity trying to get there."
Krokaa gave a nod as he ignited his own blade. As if he needed any more reason to want to keep going, his friend's words were the tipping point that made him truly want to keep going. And so they did, pressing on for another hour in the Shii-Cho training. They even attempted near the end to get a handle on using the form with a sinlge hand. Not only did they want to get a feel for doing so because they eventually would for any of the reason Gavin mentioned earlier, but to also see how they liked using but a single hand and if it would become part of their own take on the form.
Raara had followed behind the Zabraks as they made their way outside, but stayed back so not to give the impression she was following them. She had her own reason for heading outdoors but stood back a bit when she heard them talking, as she was curious to what they were doing, especially at the sound of a lightsaber coming to life. She listened to the words, nodding in her own affirmation before turning and heading off to a different direction. Finding a cozy spot, she took a seat and laid back on the ground. It was her routine after leaving the training area. She liked gazing at the sky and thinking of her family. Every day she hoped she was getting stronger and now she knew she'd obtain the power she desired to free her family. Just a little while longer and she'd go back and end the lives of those who enslaved those she loved so much.

As they did most days, Krokaa and Duvrax worked upon their combat in the entrance courtyard. As the two went, the thoughts of what they wished to achieved was constantly at the front of their minds. They hoped that by pushing their training, they could answer the questions.
For Duvrax, the answers came quickly and with ease. Having been born with a higher potential in the Force, a larger body with greater strength, and brought up with a mindset of the Sith, his path was clear. He would be a vessel of strength and power, seeking to grab hold of the most powerful and devastating of Force abilities and combat techniques.
However, Krokaa wasn’t quite as sure. He knew he wanted to be strong and capable, but he wasn’t quite certain where his focus best needed to rest. He couldn’t decide what suited him. In fact, the more he trained, the more questions he had. All he could do was keep going and hope he’d have a break through.

Viox Savage Two temple guards drag the limp body of a youth between them and throw him against the cobbles."Sir we found this youth sulking in the shadows around the temple grounds. The guard then lowers his head in shame and mutters."Somehow he overcame two of our number." The guard on the left grabs the youth's hair and pulls up his bloody blackened face.

A commotion and then a summons from the guards, roused the headmaster from his slumber. Donning his robes and his mask, the Sith made his way to the entrance courtyard, where two guards were holding a beaten young man. As he approached, he extended his perceptions outwards, encompassing the boy's mind. Raw, untamed potential was indeed there. Perhaps this urchin could be shaped and molded into a Sith, he thought to himself. The Sith'ari was always on the lookout for potential candidates for the Academy here, and if it could be restored, potentially an academy on Kamino. Regardless of that, the headmaster spoke to the guards.
Take him to the dungeons. I will come speak to the boy there...
A harsh, but ultimately unsurprising move from the headmaster. The youth had, according to the guards, managed to gain the upper hand over two og them before being apprehended. This indicated he was dangerous, especially if he was untrained. A more secure location would not only serve to isolate the youth, but to prevent anyone else other than the headmaster, access to him, for the time being.

Kreed's still unconscious form was dragged over the cobbled stones inside the bowels of the temple, before long the guards had him incarcerated in the dungeon, the guards turned to leave, the one tailing turned and punched the unconscious youth before leaving.
"That's for good measure, I hope you last equally as long as the previous...... victim."
The two guards laughed as they left and locked the cell.

Having taken the time to return to his dorm to drop off a few things, Duvrax made his way out to the courtyard as was part of his daily activities. Even as Gavin had begun to lighten the amount of time he required his students to train as they came to learn and become skilled in both combat and Fore control, Duvrax continued to press forward. He might have let go of his cocky and entitled nature thanks to Gavin's tutelage, but his desire to grow in power and strength never ended. All the man had done was help focus the path the Zabrak wished to take.
As the years went by, he had faced different encounters, each proving how well he was coming along. With each success, the drive to keep pushing forward grew. First facing the older students after their first year, then the Great Hunt at the end of their third. The challenges presented seemed like a near-impossible task, but both times they came out far better than could have been expected for their considered training and age. Even now, the boy had no intention of stopping. He sought to reach the peak of his power and more, working to stand by the statement Gavin had made so long ago and that was they would eventually be capable of giving the Sith'ari a challenge. But Duvrax intended to go further, to gain strength and skill that surpassed the man.
And that was why he continued to come out here everyday after the hours of training. He and Krokaa would continue to train for a few more hours each day to continue pushing and to never let the edges' dull.

Krokaa rested up against the ledge of one of the courtyard walls as he awaited his friend to arrive. It was unusual for Duvrax to be as late as he was as they typically made it out here together. Yet, he found that that Duvrax had remained behind in the training area for a moment and opted to just head out and wait. It did, however, give the Zabrak some time to think. Think about the years passed and the training they received. He also worked to figure out new methods they could implement against Gavin during their spars to ensure at least one victory against him before their training was over. Yet, it was always difficult to do. No matter how much stronger they got, no matter how precise their movements were against him, he always proved to be a bit stronger and always ready for whatever they threw at him. As such, he doubted they ever achieve a victory as he was always holding back, keeping himself just beyond their reach. It was a clever tactic in Krokaa's mind. Be too strong and you make students give up or end up like Duvrax in the beginning and just lashing out with anger. By always just being above them, making them feel like the next time they could beat him if they pushed a little harder kept them working to becoming better. And by always being just out of their reach, it ensured constant growth. At least for those who were dedicated and had discipline.
After a few moments, he watched as Duvrax finally arrived. Shaking his head with a scoff, he pushed off the wall. "A bit surprising to see you here this late. Get caught up talking with Master Phoenix, or were you wooed by Master Vesperia?"

Duvrax raised his hands in wonderment to Krokaa's claims. He might have been a bit of a hit with some of the ladies, but having his attention caught by Master Vesperia was certainly not a thing. "Neither one. Seriously? You think I was going to stick around to watch her? No, I did stay, curious to what interaction Master Phoenix was about to get into, but decided to leave before anything happened. Not going to get anywhere by letting myself get distracted. Besides, I get enough action in my downtime."
Jumping up on top of the wall where they had open room to fight, Duvrax removed his crossguard lightsaber and ignited the crimson blade. It pulsed with power as he awaited his friend. "Enough of the talk. Unless you're trying to talk yourself out of the fight?" Bringing his saber up, he held it in front of him in a classic Form V stance.
