It didn't take long to dress the few wounds Gavin had gained from his fight with Mariah. His biggest issue was the heavy exhaustion and depletion of his Force reserves. A good night's rest was all he needed to restore his strength and a week or so to fully heal the damaged received. There were a few moments he actually winced under the care of the doctors, something he rarely did. He had become accustomed to pain and learned to utilize it in battle, but now, in his more relaxed state, he could feel those heavier strikes the woman made against him take their toll. It was in such times that he was really grateful for his natural healing abilities. It made sure he wasn't down for long.
With everything done and taken care of, he had allowed himself to stay within the medbay. Normally, he'd head back to his chambers and resume things as always. However, he had allowed Mariah to use his room once again. It wasn't clear if she had accepted the offer this time considering her stubborn nature, but for safety sake, he assumed she did. The last thing he needed to do was go to his room and see her there and receive the full force of whatever punishment she'd dish out. He could have done as he had before and head out to the courtyard but opted to stay where he was for the night. If for some strange reason she wished to speak with him or need something, this would be where she'd come.
*As Gavin drifted off into his sleep, his mind was pulled deeper into his being by the call of the others. With the opening of his eyes, he was standing on the water of his inner world, the mangrove swamp surrounding him. Standing before him was both Vannihr and Coretha, amused smiles on there faces. He looked at each of them before shaking his head. "Go ahead. Spit it out you two. What's so amusing? Being put into such a state by her?"
A giggle came from Coretha as he smile grew. "Perhaps that's a bit amusing, yes. It's not often you get pushed into such occasions fighting someone. Though you were holding back, she did push you pretty hard. Then again, I think it's safe to say you're just rusty. But it is nice to see you enjoying yourself."
There was a bit of a scoff, one Gavin knew to hold a bit of dark humor as well as a touch of disappointment. "That is completely unacceptable, letting yourself get beat up like that. You've definitely let yourself go over the years. Good thing she's around to keep you on your toes." The demon tilted his head a bit as the smirk lessened. "There's something about her that felt...different than most. She's certainly a strong woman, that's for sure. But I believe there's more to her than what you saw."
Gavin then nodded, remembering that last act of defiance, the sheer will behind breaking his entangling shadows. It was for only a moment, but he felt something surge within her. "I agree. Whether a dormant power or something she's keeping hidden, I don't know. Hopefully, with time, I'll find the answer."
As the trio stood there, unusually sounds began to resonate around the area. At first, it was hard to make out. But as Gavin focused on it, it quickly cleared up. It sounded as if someone was speaking through water, the voice a woman all muffled and echoey.*
As the voice called to his in his sleep, he began to stir to see Mariah standing there. Forcing himself into a seat position, he yawned as he looked at her confused. Did he just hear her right? They were leaving? Just what was she going on about? Coming from her, it was beyond a strange thing to say out of nowhere in the early hours of the morning. "Can I help you with something? What do you mean 'we' are leaving?" It didn;t take long for the sleep stir of his eyes faded and the focused, piercing stare returned as he awaited her response.
