What are the things that you think makes someone stand out for Best Non-Force? What criteria do you think the Sithies judges should be looking for in nominations?

well aside from the obvious fact of them being Non-Force sensitive/user, I think they should have a good ol' trusty blaster at their side and be able to come up with creative solutions to problems that a Jedi or Sith might otherwise use the Force to deal with. Perhaps even an old transport or ship that has served as their home for the past 5 years.

I'm thinking. 'kay. Let's see. Being non-Force is tough in the JvS galaxy. Most of the time on these forums, you're facing down epic characters that can throw you across the room with their minds. So how do you balance against that? Some people use tech and armors. Some use special weapons or Force-negating trinkets. But what it really boils down to are two things: emotional and physical durability, and smarts. When you're up against the Force, you have to be able to take the bad hits, keep going, and think on your feet. Creativity, like Traevis suggested, against the Force and in using tech, using whatever is around them. Non-Force is a huge category spanning many different types of characters, so I'm assuming it's one of the harder ones to judge. The Non-Force could showcase resilient but beat-up characters in rough situations, characters that have odds stacked against them but never give up. Characters with zinging personalities who endure. In the past, that seemed to be a favorite theme with the judges. But focusing a little more on the way the character uses his Non-Forcery when tangled up with Force-filled situations would probably make more sense. Ingenuity, balanced writing (meaning not just conjuring random epic weapons on the spot), blasters and tech/armor/surrounding uses, etc. But most of the time, it's that character who doesn't necessarily use all the non-Force goodies in the Star Wars book, who takes those hits and gets smeared on the floor and loses the game sometimes. It's that character that draws you in and makes you feel, makes you care, captures your attention. It's the good story-telling that really decides who wins each category, in my opinion. So judge the technical. But don't forget to look at the story AND the character, too.

One thing to look at is how they deal with living in a galaxy where the Force and Force users exist. Do they know about it, or are they oblivious? Do they have large areas of ignorance, or do they believe a lot of things that aren't true? Do they believe it exists, or do they write it off as nonsense? How do they view Jedi and Sith? Do they perceieve a difference between them?

One of the coolest things about non Force users is how they use what they have. How they adapt, and how they get what they need, or where they need to be. Having the Force makes you like a demigod as far as human relations goes- you can either get what you want through manipulative mind magic, or through simple force adept status, or even ridiculous displays of Force. Non force users don't often have that luxury. Sure, a good blaster strategically placed in the underside of a guy's chin can be incredibly persuasive, but how about a little shake of the ass, fluttering of eyelashes, and a winning smile? Wordcraft on the level of an awe inspiring speaker? Skills that pay the bills?
What makes a non forcie stand out is how they do what they do, and what makes them better at it than the next guy. What makes them stand out in a crowd. Because lets face it; while in this galaxy they're not especially uncommon, there are bound to be a couple who can go toe to toe with a saber jockey and make an even better show.

Being that there is already an award for Mandalorians I would say that Best Non-Force character should go to a Non-Mandalorian as well. Seems more fair to me that way. I had some other thoughts, but I haven't had time to write them out yet, I just thought I'd throw that bit in for discussion.

My thoughts allied with Adrien. Mandos (and others like them) may not use THE Force, but often still use force, if that makes sense. I'm thinking more using wit, and since I can't come up with a better metaphor, more Jack Sparrow than Terminator.
