Xeonon, you'd have to be out of your mind to think I wouldn't go for this.
I'd actually been expecting the idea to come eventually, but I'll have to fill you in OOC on the IC events, motivations, etc that we had to devise ad hoc after the collapse of the Yavin RP. That changed almost everything about the storyline for us, but we still had Kuat to explain. It works out well enough in the end, though not as well as it would have originally. But hey, that's what happens when an entire faction dips out all at once. I always loathe having to pull new story arcs out of my bum. :/
On the Sith: It's not that we don't accept Sith views wholesale. We disagree with the historical Order's methods, but not the entirety of its ideology. Ander has come to see the Jedi the same way, not wholly good, just as the Sith aren't wholly evil. He actually more appreciates the Sith's willingness to -act-, rather than submit to the paralysis of bureaucracy. We try not to judge any book by its cover, so to speak, and are actually more in support of the new Empire's desire to provide an alternative to the Republic's stagnant democracy (this is of course an IC viewpoint).
The run down on the Holy War: Originally our goal was to essentially push Force Users out of positions of influence and power in civilian governments, and like many of the Mandalorian Clans, hoped to see a less repugnant way to carry out that effort. Of course, the Clan leaders that got the most attention were those like Taung, who of course destroyed worlds. It should be noted that GALSAF was utterly kept in the dark about those plans until they had already been acted out. Others like Ander were hoping to curb Intalbo's maliciousness, change things from the inside, you could say. We knew Ashrah Intalbo's war would proceed either way, and wanted to act as a subtle barrier against his psychotic aggression. Unfortunately, him and the Yavinites leaving the site after we had already committed to the Kuat RP left us having to scramble to reorganize our storylines. We had to void our involvement on Yavin IV (which didn't get far to begin with), and while we still wanted to be involved in the Kuat story, I had to find a way to explain it. What I came up with was GALSAF leaders attempting to get close enough to Mandalorian inner circles to glean information about their future plans and exploits. That plan was sound enough except for the fact that the Kuat Battle essentially ended the war for the Mandalorians. I'm still reeling from the superb job the Kuat writers did working their defense.
Obviously, that left GALSAF in an awkward position, having already been involved in the Kuat battle, and now seen as enemies, which is why we're talking about this now. Thankfully, it makes for a fantastic premise to more writing, and I'm glad you brought this up. I'm all for it.
We did have the
Basterd's Hand involved at Kuat, along with the
Hardpoint, which was destroyed, and the
Firestorm. So that's plenty for the Imperial government to go on, I would say.
I like the angle you're approaching it from, though I'll want the organization to come out of it all with a more well rounded point of view from its pursuers. I'm thinking some skirmishes are in order, and investigations on your side's behalf, that eventually lead to the realization that GALSAF's involvement in the Debacle of Kuat (as we've come to call it lol) was a misjudgment rather than something akin to Naziism. Essentially, we just don't want to be pursued forever, for that would seriously hamper our ability to realistically conduct storylines in a great number of ways.
You mention middle men being brought to justice, and I like your thinking, though I'm not so vain that I could allow lower level GALSAF personnel suffer such a fate while Ander escapes unscathed. It is not in Ander's character to let others take the fall for his mistakes and failures.
That being said, I think there's a couple of ways we can satisfy that need for justice without working against the grain. How about a pursuit that leads to several skirmishes between the Empire's forces and our own, eventually leading to Ander's capture and subsequent trial? Maybe the capture and trial of a few others of GALSAF's leadership as well? We were wanting to write an attempted mutiny during the Yavin RP, and I've outlined the event through narrative though we never got to actually write it. Perhaps Ander's defense of his comrades is the mutiny itself, he can claim they attempted to remove him from power and alter their course of involvement, but he prevented it, and therefore the responsibility lies solely with him?
By the time Ander's arraigned perhaps investigations on your side begins to lead to the idea that GALSAF's involvement in Kuat was more a result of miscalculation than evil intent.
This of course doesn't end in Ander's exoneration, but leaves some within the government to at least better understand his position. And to avoid my having to leave the character to rot in jail forever, maybe we can work out a way that Ander ends up being able to assist the government of the Empire in some manner or another, allowing him a conditional release, during which time he works closely with the Imperial government or military.
Once that operation, mission, term of service, what have you, has been completed, we can figure out a way to allow the character to be returned to his former duties with GALSAF, which would be headed by another during his absence. Hell, we could even go a couple years into the future with it, if need be. I wouldn't want him to sit in a cell for five minutes before being let free, that would defeat the purpose entirely.
We can even include conditions that force GALSAF to relinquish some of their autonomy, at least in regards to the Imperial government. Indentured servitude, essentially, that pulls our organization from its intended course as a neutral faction. This can be great for establishing tensions within the organization and its ranks. The Empire could even use us against the Republic, under threat of the most extreme forms of justice, or even outright destruction.
That certainly would be a hateful thing to write, but a fantastic story idea, I think. This could actually better define our stories for the entire Cold War RP!
A final note on the combat aspects of the RP: We're a small force, roughly 2,500 commandos strong. We have a well organized fighting force, but like I said, small. So to make these coming fights worth while, they'll have to be conducted in a way that we're able to actually operate. We have a Black Operations Group, and the main commando force is more than capable of handling themselves in mid-sized fights, but our focus is the precise application of tactical knowledge and force.
It's hard to really say more on that, though the only point is that dropping an entire military force on our organization won't leave much room for the RP to last very long. lol
Those are just my rampant thoughts, let me know what you think.
