*John watched Ander explain everything and then looked at his squad and nodded. The four of them quickly attached their helmets and began putting on the armor plates before they were even mentioned. They helped each other out with the legs and then studied their HUD systems, customizing it to their preferences. John got everything set up in a flash. He watched as his brothers still messed with eveything. Max was having trouble deciding the color of his HUD, while Rick and Thomas began arguing weapons. John shook his head and patted Max on the shoulderbafter hearing Ander acknowledge them.*
John -Max, let's help out these guys, huh?-
Max -You got it boss.-
*John nodded and gave Max a little push as they both walked around, helping anyone that needed assisstance with their armor. Thomas and Rick continued to argue on the weapon and what they were used to.*
Rick -He said that the weapon is very accurate, a child could get a head shot from a kilometer away.
Thomas -You don't know a thing about sniping. That DC-17 sniper rifle was my baby, you can't replace a man's weapon!-
Rick -You wouldn't know a weapon if it shot you in the eye!-
John -If you two ladies are done, why don't you help others instead of bickering.-

*Amara listened to Ander as he went over the specifics of the Verpine carbine. She examined hers all the while from muzzle to stock, she herself had shot one such rifle before. When Ander reached lifted his helmet for all to see and began to describe its every function, and the fact that they would need to keep them on or with them at all times. This caused a faint smile to form on her lips. Unlike most of the beings in the room, she was already wearing hers. She was Ubese and rarely, if ever, showed her face to anyone. The armor was a different story however. She, like the others, was wearing the same black body suit.*
*She lifted the chest and back plate, scanning it over to get a better awareness as to what she was putting on. It seemed, in her mind, slightly bulkier then her customized armor from her bounty hunter days. But that was all part of her past now, or so she hoped. She slid the armor on over her head and began to fasten in down till it was snug. From there the rest of her gear went on easily. This was all strange to her though. Not the armor or the rifle, that was a part of daily life to her. Being around this many sentients at one time, interacting with them, socializing with them. It was a far cry from the xenophobic lifestyle placed on her by her people. Then again she was considered and oddity amongst her own kind, maybe this was for the better.*

Ander Tagira Lord Commander of the Galactic Security Assistance Force [GALSAF] Bow Hangar Bay of the Basterd's Hand 0600 by Abo Dreth's rotation period Day 3 The recruits had all spent the rest of the previous day getting used to their weapons and gear. No one had been allowed to fire their weapons as of yet, but Ander assured them all that part was coming soon. He stood before the 3,000 recruits, all arrayed in formations with their respective units, inside the bow hangar bay of the Basterd's Hand. Behind him were 48 gunships, one for each platoon in GALSAF's 1st Infantry Brigade Commando Team. Ander was garbed in full combat beskar'gam. His rifle was slung across his chest, the muzzle clipped to his utility belt to hold it in place. Every recruit inside the hangar bay was wearing full gear as well, with their weapons secured in the same fashion as Ander's was. His gear pack sat on the deck at his feet, the same way each recruit had theirs. Uniformity. Perfect for training, garbage for actual combat. Ander didn't expect uniformity in his soldiers, in fact he didn't want it. But such things would come in time. For now, they each needed to learn the proper way of doing things before they could learn best what worked for themselves. Through his helmet, Ander began to speak, slapping a gauntleted hand against the hull of the gunship behind him. This is the Infantry variant of the Low-Altitude Assault Transport, or Larty gunship. She packs four Automated Walker Droids and four speeder bikes, along with a handful of extra weapons and gear. We have one gunship assigned to each platoon, which fits thirty soldiers in its troop bay. He pointed upwards to the various weapons mounted on the gunship. There are four composite-beam laser weapons mounted on the Larty gunship, two on the nose, and two just aft of the troop doors. There are missile launchers mounted on the dorsal section of the vehicle, forward of the engines. Two laser cannons are likewise mounted on the nose and ass-end of the ship. The gullwing doors feature slots for personal weapons that can be opened in low altitudes. Any of the weapons you have been assigned can be mounted into these slots for personnel defense. Even rocket launchers. Ander looked back to the armored recruits. Like everything else you have been issued, this vehicle is an essential part of our operations. You will all be trained in piloting and gunning for this vessel. You will all learn how to maintain this vessel, perform repairs, both in and out of combat situations. You will drill with this weapon until you are spent and hate this vessel. And you will treat it with respect.Ander waited for a moment, letting his words sink in. Every piece of equipment the recruits worked with they would know inside and out before the end of their training. Today, we're going to drop into the planet's surface. I hope everyone slept well because we'll be there for several months without refit. Ander took a moment to clarify his words. Refit is when you are taken out of a training or combat environment so that units can replenish ammunition, repair gear, replace lost or injured personnel, and return to the field for further operations. If you smoke, I hope you brought plenty of cigarettes. Ander chuckled along with the rest of the recruits before continuing. The surface of Abo Dreth is hazardous, dangerous. The atmosphere, poisonous. I have chosen this world to begin our training so that you can better learn your armor and helmet systems. They will protect you, they will help you survive. You will drink your own recycled piss-water, live off nutrient supplements, breathe the same air you have exhaled a hundred times over. You will live in this armor, or this planet will kill you.Ander looked around at the hidden faces of his recruits before continuing. Our focus will be on physical training, weapons use, dismounted tactics and maneuvers, and operations with our various vehicles. You will learn how to shoot, move, and communicate information between yourself and your fellow soldiers. You will learn your equipment better than the names of your own family. You will learn to recognize your fellow recruits without ever seeing their faces. You will learn how to clear buildings and structures, plan operations, move in hostile territory without arising suspicion. You will learn how to plan an offensive on an enemy objective while supporting your various elements and taking full advantage of the assets and resources at your disposal.Ander stepped up into the troop bay of the Larty gunship, reaching up for the stabilizer bar that was bolted into the ceiling. This is the end game. You will become the very best or you will become nothing at all. Study what we teach you, spend every waking moment relearning what you have learned. Tinker with your weapons, find what works best for you. Improvise, kill time, whatever you can think of to further your training as a commando, do it. You will all be trained as leaders, because in GALSAF, there are no followers. We are all chiefs without tribesmen, because our tribesmen are the people of the Galaxy, and they need us to lead them to a promised land. There is no more time for play, no time for relaxation. Every moment you spend here you will spend honing your abilities, furthering your knowledge, sharpening your skills. Learn from me, Leftenant Calo, General Altic. But most of all, learn from each other. Because in the battlefield, the Commandos on your right and left are the only ones you have keeping you alive. You don't work for me, you don't work for anyone but the people of the Galaxy. Ander slapped a gauntleted fist against his stomach. We are GALSAF Commandos, and anyone who interferes with our administration of justice will hang.He looked to the cockpit of the gunship and ordered the pilot to make the call for the Battalion to prep the engines. Load up into your respective platoon's gunships recruits, we have things to learn.

*Kaytra stood in formation like the rest of the commandos. Anders words ringing out across the hangar. Behind him were the LAATs of which hes spoke. This peeked her curiousity, ship were something she was used to, something she knew. Her attention turned back to the man in front of her, as he told them that they'd be living in their armor and where they were going. Once given the command, she and the others, surged forward and boarded the LAATs. She climbed into the ship with thirty other troops and prepared for what was to come next.*

*He stood there in silence, arms crossed and gear prepped. The speech was as good as the others. The only difference was what they were doing. He would learn to fly a gunship nicknamed the Larty until he hated it and they were to train in full armor on a planet hazardous to their own health. They would live in their armor, theoretically and almost literally become one with their armor. This was an extreme, but he had to prove people wrong. He had to give himself a name. Knowing he would have to learn name after name, he began to study the people all around, including the clone soldiers that were paired up together. But he knew no one here, and he would have to suffer with that for now. They would not return until they were told to return. No refilling ammo, no healing of wounds in a medical bay, nothing from this massive ship they couldn't take with them would be available to them. This was survival of a group at its finest. If anyone were to back out they would best do it now, because they either turned back now, or took the risk of dying with a collapsed lung. Dominik thought about the free time and immediately scavenged up an idea. There were many ways to craft a weapon, but he had to find the tools and the supply. All he had to do was study the planet's foliage, its life and what could be used as a weapon. He thought about this as he stood in his battalion's Larty and smiled as the doors closed. They would know him, whether he was liked or not.*

*It was the third day. A day most of these recruits should call the day of reckoning. Their moment was on that planet. They would learn everything they needed, even the four of the clones that stood there together in formation. A small sense of unity. Battle would be different as well as keeping yourself alive. The squad lived in their clone armor issued to them from day one. A small change in outfit, weapon tech and goal which they fought for and nothing has changed them. They stayed the same, but their brotherhood would remain in an evolved state, continuing to evolve. They stood their with hands against their backs and heads pointed at the gunships. John had already noticed the one their battallion would use but frowned when he saw the gunships previously. He didn't like them one bit, not after his incident on Geonosis. Everyone who knew him or researched up his file on Kamino knew what happened. He never told anyone except his squad. Of course someone still spilled a black paint on his background. He intended for no one to know his past. Their commander might give her sob story and the truth to others, but he would never tell.*
*A sniper and an excellenct shot at that, Thomas knew all about refits, but he never received one so this was no different then his past missions. Crystaall would leave him on the ground with the clips on his belt and had him cover her and the other three. He never complained... but this was a new territory. He had more people to watch over, more to keep track of... more people that could easily lose their lives because of sudden impulse or the immidiate decision to longer keep walking. This was something he never paid heed to. Never had to watch it happen, but now it was forced. There had to be a few or just one who would be foolish enough to take off their helmets, one's who had bad memmory leaving a rifle in a forest and returning to their commander's wrath. He would never witness that wrath. His pride and honor would take over once he hit the ground with boots clanking against the turf. He would watch everything he could and he knew if anything, Max or himself would be the better out of the four. He would make no mistakes.*
*Rick chuckled at the words Ander spoke. He was going to pilot a gunship. He wouldn't be surprised by Max's possible fear. He was a gun-ho man at best and kept moving forward. Why John took him in during the war, he never knew, but he killed a lot of droids with his rifle. But piloting was not his strong suit, if anything he'd be in a laser cannon with Max flying, Thomas sniping out an open door and John watching for the LZ and picking out straggling soldiers with a pistol opposite of Thomas. But they were to do this to get in... to be a GALSAF commando. An average man fighting for the average person. He wished it was more of a glory thing but he understood John's reasons for getting them involved, and he didn't like it.*
This was the toughest part... standing here like a brick of many stacked together to form a symmetrical wall. It was a pain in his ass, he wasn't as good as the other three, but he was smart. A strategist, a medic and a mechanic. A jack of trades and master of one. He bested everyone in hand-to-hand combat. The piloting Ander spoke of was that of nothing but boring... and there was already a pilot. He bet he couldn't even touch the controls. The rest of the squad spoke of refits, but he never witnessed it during either war, surprised by how long they have lived. But he couldn't blame them for dragging him here. He would truly learn a soldier's point of view. This would be a great moment for him. And as they all stepped in the Larty, keeping close together, he smiled. They would suffer or strive. The latter would be the best outcome of this training.*

Zimmy shifts awkwardly inside of his armor. The skin-tight fibers grasping at his extremities felt as though they were tourniquets. He was itching in places he didn't know could itch. But it was relatively easy to ignore. Zimmy possessed a discipline that was utterly foreign to most fourteen-year-olds, beaten into him during his too-short childhood. He stood close to his platoon's gunship, his pack at his feet. There were a few items in that bag that he was not told to bring, but no one told him not to bring them either. His lightsaber lay next to a personal datapad and a few pictures stuffed into a sack and stashed among the more vital items Zimmy's pack held. There was a tiny whir from his helmet as the air circulation function kicked on. The device blew stale air into his nostrils. This would take getting used to.
The boy had done a little reading about the planet below them. He recalled the Encyclopedia entry in the back of his mind. Abo Dreth: Atmosphere, Type III, Nitrogen based. Breath Mask required. Located in the Tingle Arm, Galactic Coordinates: S-3. No native intelligent life. It seemed as good a place as any to train a small army. The only people populating the planet were scattered scientists and prospectors. There was no major spaceport, no large population centers and lots and lots of empty space. Zimmy saw Ander stepping into his Larty and gathered his gear, slinging the pack and rifle over opposite shoulders, tightening the pack in place. The young Firrerreo tucked himself away into a corner of the gunship, standing by a window so that he could watch their descent through the atmosphere.

Ander Tagira [GC-01] and Delmani Altic [GC-02] Abo Dreth, 1100 hours local time Abo Dreth. A Corporate Sector world. Sparsely habited, nitrogen-based atmosphere, flat terrain lined with silver rivers and lakes. The atmosphere required the majority of GALSAF's recruits to remain sealed within their armor for the duration of their stay, or else risk inhaling the poisonous air. The world was home to only a few widely dispersed settlements; Ander doubted anyone would even realize they were present on the planet. He was standing behind Delmani Altic and his son, Calo Tagira, his trusted companions and fellow commanders. The pair had split the entire force into its four respective battalions, which would be named at some point during their training. Their LAAT gunships had landed on the surface of the world only an hour before, and now recruits were milling about, awaiting further orders. In advance of their arrival, Ander had designated a route for them to take across the planet's primary continent, which was several thousand kilometers long and wide. The oceans on Abo Dreth were small, but GALSAF's journey on the world would end at one of them, far to the West. Delmani was standing before the recruits in full armor and gear, his pack resting on the ground at his feet.Alright, this is what's going to happen! He called, the vocoder in his helmet amplifying his voice for all to hear. We will be moving here soon. Our journey will take us from this location, two thousand kilometers West, to a coastline. Only once every recruit has reached the final destination will we pack up and leave this world. Leaders have been designated from amongst our existing staff to take command of each unit. They will be your guides. They will be your teachers. It is important that you listen to them if you want to live. It is absolutely vital, however, to listen to them if you want to succeed.Delmani let the weight of his words hang in the air for a brief moment, before taking control of the HUD systems of every recruit on the ground. Their displays all began showing the same information, a large overview of the entire 2,000 kilometer landmass. Our location, or insertion point, is that blue downward facing arrow dubbed "First I-B-C-T." Our route is displayed in that dotted green line. Our final destination, or extraction point, is that blue upward facing arrow. The dotted green line, our route line, has a series of bright red "X" marks along it. At each of those locations, we have set up a training ground. These training grounds will cover every single type of vehicle, weapon and tactic you will need to learn in order to leave this world with a full arsenal of knowledge and skills. Languages will be learned along the way, and specific locations have been set up to test you on that knowledge before allowing you to proceed. Each and every recruit must pass these training locations before their entire Company can move on.Delmani paused for a moment, allowing the 3,000 recruits to get their bearings and review the information he had pointed out to them on their HUDs. He continued shortly after, outlining their training regimen. There will be no physical training in the usual sense. We will not stand about in a formation and stretch our groins or jump up and down in the air, or lift heavy rocks. We will get our physical training through our real training. By the time you have completed this maneuver, you will be in a physical condition well beyond what you are currently capable of,. This I promise you.Delmani zoomed the HUD system of every recruit in on the first objective, which was roughly 50 kilometers away. Our first stop will be to this location here. Delmani highlighted the objective, replacing the "X" with a blue square symbol, marked "B." Note that Objective Able is not listed on this map. Objective Able, which covers the operation, maintenance and repair of our helmet and armor systems, we already conducted on the Basterd's Hand. We will continue to train in these areas along the way. Along the way to Objective Baker, we will learn to move as members of a fire team, and how to conduct our operations according to the Rules and Regulations of the GALSAF Charter. You will learn these things, and remember them.Delmani gave the recruits another moment to catch up if they needed it, then reached for his gear pack and slung it over his back. The pack was light to Delmani, but filled to the brim with everything he would need to complete the mission on Abo Dreth. Literal decades of experience benefited his mind and body greatly. The rest of the recruits were likewise equipped, though not all of them ready to carry such a heavy load. Delmani had no worries though; eventually they would all either succeed or fail. The old Clone Wars veteran hefted his rifle in one hand, clipping it to the left shoulder plate of his armor, then stepped into place in front of 2nd Battalion's recruits. He opened a closed channel with both Tagira's, elder and younger. We're ready to go. Who've you got covering First Battalion? Ander's reply came in immediately. I've got Marsburq on it. Delmani nodded his approval. Aachen Marsburq had served with the Empire for over a decade before defecting to the New Republic at the onset of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Tagira had recruited him to Yavin IV some years later, to help lead the Yavin 4 Defense Forces. The man was brilliant, as only the best leaders were. Delmani turned on his booted heel and spoke directly to his Battalion as Ander, Calo, and Aachen stepped before their respective units.Ander stood before 4th Battalion, his gear back settled on his back and his weapon clipped to his shoulder. His sidearm was holstered at his hip and his lightsaber, untouched for months, remained tucked away at the small of his back, just below the rear plate of his beskar'gam. He watched Aachen Marsburq signal for 1st Battalion to follow him, marching away into the distance as they began their 50 kilometer trek to their first objective, where their recruits would learn how to move as a team on many different levels. Once they reached Objective Baker, they would be tested in their knowledge, and then begin their weapons training. Ander waited silently as 2nd Battalion also stepped off, and 3rd Battalion after them. The minutes turned into an hour as he allowed the rest of the force to get a good amount of distance ahead them. Each Battalion now had at least 5 kilometers between them, minimal spacing for such a large maneuvering element. As he watched 3rd Battalion fade away into the distance, Ander held a gauntleted hand up in the air, his fist closed. After a moment, he waved it forward, signaling for 4th Battalion's recruits to follow him. Now he activated 4th Battalion's open-channel communications frequency, so that he could speak to all of the recruits as they marched. With every step he offered knowledge and insight, teaching his recruits how to become commandos even as they literally stepped into the role. There are many different sizes of what we call "elements." An element is a section of a unit, whether it is an individual commando, a squad, a platoon, company, or in this case, battalion. Ander explained, turning to face his soldiers as they marched. He walked backwards for quite some time, using the 360ยบ HUD system to watch his backside. The most basic element we have is the team. A team consists of three commandos. A machine gunner, an ordnance commando, and a rifle commando. A squad consists of two teams, plus a Squad Leader. When you decide how to move as a team, look at the terrain, the situation you're in, the likelihood that you'll run into hostiles, and so on. There are many different ways to move. We can move as a Point Formation, Diamond Formation, File Formation, or a Line Formation. The goal of a formation is to balance fire power with maneuverability. If you place all your fire power on one end of a formation, you won't be able to react to fire coming from the other side. It also makes it difficult to maneuver through certain areas, if you are not employing the right formation style.Ander began pointing out recruits to join him as the unit continued forward. He grabbed Dominik Malsk, Zimmy, and @kaytra, signaling for them to march alongside him. He pointed them each out to the rest of the battalion, who could see him through the off-set displays of their HUDs. Dominik will serve as the machine gunner. Zimmy, the ordnance commando. Kaytra will be the rifle commando. Ander began to arrange the three recruits into an arrow-head formation, placing Kaytra at the front, and the other two behind her, slightly spread out. This formation helps you cut through reasonable terrain, like forests and plains. Our machine gunner, Dominik, can focus his attention on the left and rear of the formation, Zimmy the right and rear, and Kaytra can maintain her focus forward of the group as well as slightly left and right. All around security, is the goal folks. Ander added, gesturing with his arms to encompass the area around him. You want a gun pointed in every direction, so you can spot and kill the enemy before they spot and kill you.Ander waved the three recruits off, returning them to their locations within the Battalion. As they continued forward, Ander outlined the other formation types, their advantages and disadvantages, and the types of situations they were typically used for.File formations are terrible for anything other than dense forests, mountains, and tightly packed urban locations. He explained, pulling another three recruits from the formation, two of them being Max and Rick. He oriented the three soldiers alongside the battalion of recruits, in a single-file line. This formation is weak in defense because it does not allow the group to maintain a full view of the area around them. We have our men all in a line, and that means the enemy doesn't have to shoot as long to kill them all.The battalion continued forward at a decent pace while Ander explained and demonstrated the various formations, adding to the wealth of information the recruits had already absorbed. These formations also apply to larger elements, like platoons, companies and entire battalions. All we have to do is imagine that each individual soldier in these formation types represents a larger unit. Instead of sticking one commando in the front of the Point Formation, we use an entire platoon, or company.Ander demonstrated this by slowing their pace enough to organize the entire battalion into their respective companies. Jig, King and Love Companies were now marching alongside one another, with King Company taking point, and Jig and Love Companies somewhat behind and spread out, forming an arrow-head with the entire battalion. Ander trotted ahead of the large formation so the recruits could see him. He opened his arms, gesturing to the unit as a whole. Makes sense, doesn't it? Now we're using what's called the Company Point Battalion Formation. It's a Battalion Formation, with a Point made of each Company. He clapped his hands together, then spent several moments reorganizing the unit once more, so that Jig Company marched first, with King and Love Companies each behind Jig in a line. This would be a Company File Battalion Formation. For the time being, Ander left the unit in that method of organization, marching forward and back of three companies as he further explained. Even inside a Battalion formation, we can have Companies produce their own arrangements. As I mentioned before, it all depends on the mission you have to conduct, the enemy you are facing, the terrain you are operating in, the troops you have at your disposal, the time constraints you may have working against you, and any non-combatants you might have to worry about. All these factors affect how we operate in the moment. They're all important, though some more so than others depending on the situation.Ander continued speaking and demonstrating, linking his HUD system with the helmets of the entire battalion to show them outlines of the formations, how they are organized and employed, as well as a variety of other things regarding how GALSAF Commandos were expected to conduct themselves during myriad different mission profiles. He went over reacting to hard contact, approaching an enemy-held objective, clearing urban areas, and setting up cordons with vehicles around an objective. These are all things we are going to cover here on Abo Dreth, and will continue to train in during our missions to other worlds. This is but a taste of the training we are going to force on ourselves, on each other. Continue practicing these formations amongst yourselves. Start on the team level, three recruits at a time. Keep marching as you do so, you need to learn how to shift between these formations with ease. We'll rarely be able to stop a maneuver just so we can stuff our panties back into our pants. Once you're comfortable with the team level, get together with another team and work as a squad. Then get three other squads and work as a platoon. After that, get all four platoons together and work as a company.Ander made his way quickly to the front of the formation, so that all could see him. I refuse to give you leaders. I have already given you the knowledge you need. Now embrace it. Work together, learn what works best for you based on what I've taught you thus far. These skills will save your life some day, and more importantly, they'll save the lives of countless innocent people throughout the Galaxy. Become the best of the best. Become chiefs, all. Because with GALSAF, there are no followers!

*Kaytra followed the orders Ander gave. Going through the formations with Dominik Malsk and Zimmy. It was slow going at first with the rest of the squads, getting more challenging each time the group got larger. The more they practice though the easier it became. But it would still take time before they had mastered such things.*
*As Kaytra and her group shifted into another position, her vision became blurred again. She cursed to herself as she became temporarily blind from the sudden adjustment. While her cybernetics and HUD display waged yet another battle with each other, she accidentally stepped out of formation. She almost panicked until her vision came back long enough for her to return to position. This happened several more times as her eyes and HUD failed to line up. She cursed out loud the third time it happened. Luckily for her the group stopped momentarily to readjust themselves. She blindly groped at her helmet with the hopes that she could fix the problem from the outside. Unfortunately she couldn't feel anything that could solve her problem. Leaning slightly to her right she spoke to the person next to her.*
::Hey. do you know how to adjust these helmets? Mines messing with my cybernetics.:: *The being standing next to her simply shrugged and spoke in a language she didn't understand. She slowly leaned away from the person and stared straight ahead. This was going to be harder then she thought. Once again as the group started moving, her cybernetic eyes almost flatlined into blurred images of color. She let out a groan and attempted once again to keep up with the groups. Every once in a while receiving agitated advice or warnings from other commandos about being out of line or coming close to running into them.*

*This had to be expected. They land, and they weren't given even a single break from either lectures or marching forward to the objectives on their helmet's HUD. He didn't wish to speak out so he just listened and assumed his position with Zimmy and Tatham, away from the others. He assumed his position and did as he was told. He noticed that everyone watched the three of them until they were put back into formation to watch another three. They were put in a straight line. It was a good example for a bad strategy. He continued to listen but he could only focus on bits and pieces, but he tinkered with his helmet earlier to allow it to take Audio recordings constantly, so if he missed anything, he could play it back. He noticed Kaytra having trouble, but he knew he couldn't fix that problem. He'd never worked with cybernetics having problems with regular equipment. He hoped someone could fix it for her.*

*Rick was not amused at this. All he wanted to do was the pull the trigger on a brand new rifle. But instead, he gets stuck with mech-head Max. Second, he was being used for a bad example. He could hear the small chuckles John and Thomas made as he stood in the back and followed Ander's orders. The brat kid got machine-gun duty for the good example and he gets put in the rear of the bad? He couldn't think of how he managed to get this bad of a reputation already. He was supposed to be strong, capable and the best heavy there is. This was not his greatest moment.*
*The muttering he could hear was not surprising, it was an always an ego issue with meat-for-brains and he could easily see it as he and Rick were placed for a bad example of what not to do in battle. Or at least the best example at the time. The muttering continued after they were put back in line, switching between partners, learning names, meeting each other for possibly a few seconds. Until he heard the issue over the comms. A person's cybernetics was interfering with their helmet. He smiled and thought of a young girl for a moment, much older than him, and yet just as reckless. It seemed only yesterday he had solved the problem for her arms. Max quickly hopped into the three man group that had Kaytra with them as he quickly tapped her on the head with his index finger.*
Max: -This will only take a second. I know how buggy cybernetics are with regular tech. Close your eyes and hold your breath, this is going to make things a little difficult to see, and I can't fix your air until I get the HUD to accept your body's required tech.-
*With precision, Max began to rewire the helmet, closing up the air filter as he deactivated it to completely work out the problem. It took only a matter of seconds as he fixed everything up and put every wire back in its place, along with the small wire connection Max managed to establish between the woman's body and her helmet. He activated the air system quickly and then reset the helmet's HUD system and patted her on the shoulder.*
Max: -Everything should be fine now, I hope you were ok with the small time of air loss. You're going to have to redo all your changes to your HUD if you did anything to it, and it shouldn't bug out anymore.-

*Kaytra felt someone tap on her helmet. She turned to face one of the clone troopers she had seen on their first day on the ship. She felt slightly relieved when her said he could help her with her cybernetics. Doing as he said, she closed her eyes and held her breath, hoping that it wasn't some kind of trick. After several seconds, she was able to breath again and her cybernetics seemed to be working as they were supposed to. She turned to the trooper and gave a nod.*
::Thanks. Max, right?::

Max: -Yea, that's me. You are Kaytra Tatham, I hope I said that right. Its good to meet you.-
*He tried to speak calmly, knowing that Thomas would be likely to mess with him. They were each given dossiers of certain individuals John thought they would NEED to know, and it just so happened Max got hers, while Rick and Thomas took an assortment of others, with John taking the most important ones. He didn't notice anything unusual about her profile, not that he cared for anyone's past, which John couldn't get a hold of, but he made sure to prep his tech skills for cybernetics before they came onto the Basterd's Hand. Max only looked down for a moment and then looked back up with a half smile.*
Max: -To properly introduce myself, I am Maxwell Xol. Its the name I chose for when the squad ever went our separate ways. Not really given names as a clone but a long number and the knowledge that you are one of many.-

Zimmy shifted from foot to foot, flexing the muscles in his calves and thighs as he did so. He was nervous. Technology had never been his strong suit his already constant bombardment by it was unsettling. Not that he was illiterate when it came to coms and datapads, he just hated to rely upon them. His childhood training had focused upon relying upon his own senses, seeing the world through his eyes. In the suit, he felt suffocated, held in. He wanted to run and steal a gunship and fly back home, anything to get out of the damned suit.
Zimmy came to attention as Delmani came before the 3,000 assembled recruits. He listened to the man speak, watched as he instructed them with the help of their HUDs. The quality of the electronics in his helmet impressed Zimmy. The boy was used to second hand junk dumped off on recyclers or scavengers by shady merchants. Even though he was still nervous of it, he felt a little spoiled. He gasped as his name was called.
Zimmy came forward with poorly hidden nerves and performed his actions dutifully. He tripped during the second maneuver. His nerves got the best of him causing him to freeze for a moment. He crawled the last four feet to cover and began laying down covering fire. He headed back to his position in the crowd of recruits after his dismissal. The boy stood silently, looking straight ahead, hoping that nobody noticed him. He had never felt lonely like this before, especially surrounded by so many people. He just wanted to disappear. He did as the formations moved back and forth, Ander directing the whole battalion this time. The Mechanical breath his suit gave him blew into his face as Ander finished with them, making him long to breathe fresh air.

*Kaytra gave a nod when Max asked if her pronounced her name right.*
::Yeah, I'm Kaytra::
*One of many. Being a clone was kind of a strange thought to her. Then again she was mostly droid, so that must seem strange to others.*
::MY father always told me it wasn't the name that made the person, but their deeds.:: *She gave a shrug and glanced across the rest of the group before looking back at Max.* ::Then again. My father was a pirate. So that goes without saying.::

Max: -Whether he was a pirate or not, he sounds like a wise man.-
*Max remained silent after those words and watched as most people switched to meet new people and assume a different position of the three man formation on occassion. He noticed that his 'brother's tried their best to stick near one another as he remained with Kaytra. It was probably best for him to stick with someone, lean who they were as a person and move on, but something told him he shouldn't just learn who she was and leave for another.*

Ander was glad to see the recruits mingling amongst one another as they continued their long march. He noticed pockets of soldiers forming here and there as they grew acquainted with each other, but was quick to remind them of their spacing as they pressed on. Keep your distance from one another! He barked. You never know when a grenade or a mortar round might hit, and when it does, you're better off not standing in clumps! You want to minimize the impact of enemy ordnance. Ander told them, then began going over typical approach maneuvers as they marched. Silence is golden, always. You never want to reveal your presence to anyone, especially the enemy. Hiding from civilians is a must as well, it's hard to tell who's watching and reporting your presence to whom. That brings us to our next topic. Land navigation and terrain association. Keep aware of your surroundings, and always be prepared before you go out on mission. Research the areas you're going to be operating in and keep in mind that we're all leaders here. Never feel like you can't speak up or point something out. We are each others' eyes and ears. Ander began discussing topics of terrain and environment, reminding the recruits that METT-TC always applied. The key terrain features of any operative area are simple and easy to remember. Hills are areas that jut up from the land alone. Ridge lines are an elevated series of hills. Valleys are large depressions in the land. Spurs are the areas that protrude from an elevated land mass, such as a hill or ridge line. Draws are the depressions between spurs. Cliffs are simple. Being able to identify these key terrain features and associate them on our available maps and sensor readings are important. You always need to know where you are, and how best to get to where you're going. Ander continued the lesson as he had the recruits point out specific terrain features around them by name. The group caught on quickly. Over the next couple of hours, Ander began to focus on commando movement techniques. You always want to minimize your profile when you're traveling. There are a few different types of maneuvers, and they revolve around the known enemy presence. When we are not expecting to meet an enemy, we travel in what's called traveling overwatch. It's a more relaxed manner of maneuver. Each unit will be covered by another and they move together. Bounding overwatch is utilized when we know there's an enemy in the area, but they do not know about us. As always, one unit covers another. Once one team has reached a certain distance, they take up a security position and allow the other team to move. Essentially, multiple units are bounding passed one another, always providing security for each other. The last form is called active overwatch. Each unit must move together more quickly, establishing only hasty positions with which to cover one another while they move on an expectant enemy or objective. We will use this form mostly when we have identified our target or our objective, and need to progress there quickly. Ander split the unit into teams of three, each with a squad leader assigned. They began practicing these maneuvers, both on an individual level and a team level. These movement techniques are critical to both speed and security. Before you move, you always want to identify your next piece of cover. Once you have, and the rest of your team is in place to cover your movements, you make for that piece of cover as quickly as you can. We want to focus on providing security for each other, so when one of us has to move, we don't have to worry about covering ourselves. Speed is essential. Bounding can wear you out, which is why we'll be practicing it the entire time we're here. From now on, wherever we go, we will be employing one method of maneuvering or another. If you go somewhere with another commando, you will bound. You will identify cover, and you will pull security for each other. Always. Just like your helmets, it will be with you, always. I don't care if you're stepping away to take a piss, you will bound there with a fellow commando. It sounds ridiculous, I know, but it will ingrain these methods into your mind and body. Ander moved on as the unit continued forward across the dusty terrain of Abo Dreth. Soon, the recruits were practicing low crawling, minimizing their profiles as they moved in secret towards designated objectives in the distance. The work was tiring for many, but Ander was with them the entire time, crawling on the ground with his weapon held in front of him with one hand, always pulling security. Security, security, security. We are always pulling security. When you stop to regroup, you pull security first. When you reach a fallen commando to render aid, you pull security first. Your weapon will always follow your eyes and your ears. Never aim one without the other. What good is spotting a target if your rifle isn't aimed at them, ready to shoot? For hours they drilled, covering the vast distance towards Objective Able slowly and painfully. There would be no physical training because their exercise would be their combat scenarios. Sometime later, as night was falling on Abo Dreth, Ander brought the unit of recruits to a halt. Most of them were covered in dust and dirt, smearing their armor plates and filling the spaces in between. Many of them had dirtied their weapons, an issue Ander was quick to address. He grabbed two recruits' rifles, one from a young Rodian male, the other from Max, one of Squadron 99's soldiers. Look at these two weapons. Ander called as he held them over his head. The Rodian's was covered in dust and dirt, a stark contrast to the relatively clean rifle he had taken from Max. It's not always possible to avoid dirtying our weapons, but we must treat these tools like they are our only lifeline, because in fact they are. If you cannot rely on your weapon to save your life, your life might as well be lost. Ander returned the weapons to their owners and gathered the recruits around him. Tonight we'll be setting up what's called a field base. A field base is an area where we can pause and refill on ammunition, get sleep, eat, and most importantly, to plan future actions during an operation. When deciding where to set up a field base, terrain is most important. You want it to be concealed, hidden, and with as many covered positions as you can find. Once the area has been selected, you set up 360ยบ security into a circle. Imagine an analog clock. You want soldiers at every point on that clock. Heavy weaponry should be dispersed evenly, and oriented towards the most likely avenues of approach. Leadership arrange themselves in the center of the formation so they can be better protected while they plan out future actions. No one enters or leaves the perimeter without every commando knowing. We must always take accountability of our soldiers, knowing where each one of them are at any given time. We can't move on if we don't have everyone accounted for, or we risk leaving people behind. Ander began organizing the unit into several different field bases. They were dispersed along the terrain, off of their path of travel, several circles of recruits arrayed around a center of designated leaders. We'll camp out here for the night. Security shifts will be set at fifty percent. That means half of the commandos will pull security while the other half sleep, eat, and plan. Tomorrow morning, we will head out and continue towards Objective Able, the shooting range. Do not allow yourselves to fall asleep. If you can't stand it, let someone know, and we'll replace you. There is no shame in that. It is better to be replaced with a fresh commando than to lose security and let potential enemies harm us and our fellow commandos. Forget your pride here, recruits, we have no need of it. With that, Ander chose a single formation to rest at the center of, resting his head on his gear pack as he settled in for the night.

*Kaytra moved with the rest of the group. Sticking to their new traveling method of using cover. When they finally reached what would be their camp for the night, she let out a sigh. This was familiar to her, yet some how very different. Most of her early years had been training, not military training, but training none the less.*
*She stuck close to Max, he was the only other person she really knew other then Kel. Which was okay, she would eventually learn who many others were over time. Till then she would take things one step at a time. First step was setting up base and keeping watch, luckily for her she got second watch, just enough time to get some rest.*

*Ander had to begun to go into more strategic maneuvers for combat such as pulling security, and overwatch techniques. He also went to give them direction on not to be so clustered together and that your weapon is your life. Take it with care. Now hey were suppose to set up a field base, which basically was where thy would camp for the night. He was given second watch, but he couldn't sleep. He assumed this was his best chance to do what he wanted. He tampered with his helmet, disabling his connection with the others, but only temporarily. He watched as most went to sleep with first watchers probably scattered about to keep an open eye of every direction. Dominik slung his rifle over his back and did his best to sneak off from the rest of the group. He gave a small cough after his air began to become stale with his own scent. He sighed at this and kept moving farther from the group. He made sure he could see the 'base' and soon stood up from his crouched position. He Looked around for several moments to just see the flat land. He sighed at this and just fell backwards onto his ass. He never thought he would take a rifle and practice with it. He came here to be a man of justice, though that is what they were training to do. Be a group of many to protect a larger number of those who suffered under tyranny and oppression. Once they got back on the Basterd's Hand, he might discuss the issue with Ander. He soon shuddered at the thought if he was unwise with his want for a physical weapon instead of a ranged one.. He shook his head and looked back at the camp. He was stuck here with veterans, average men and women, along with the occasional wanna-be. He made his way back to the camp and soon made himself comfortable, propping himself up against a small ledge as he rested. He kept an eye open until he could no longer feel his face.*

*Everything they knew would mean they were already prepared for training such as this. Unfortunately, having been out of action for years, the three members of Squadron 99 that stuck together and did their best to follow Ander's instruction of taking cover. The three stuck together using the techniques, but in the process began to give each other dirty looks as they repeatedly got in each others way. John managed to keep his cool, but it was obvious that Thomas and Rick were at each others throats with the occasional bickering. Max only stayed with the last group of people he was with, keeping an eye on his brothers and Kaytra as he moved from cover to cover. Soon after Ander declared they would take camp on spot, with everyone receiving 1st shift or 2nd shift orders. John and Rick got 2nd while Max and Thomas got 1st. Max and Thomas took different positions, separating each other on opposite sides of the camp. John remained awake despite his orders, sitting down next to Rick who fell fast asleep in his armor.
Max: -So you're not going to rest 11-10?-
John: -As leader of you four, I can't take luxuries like sleep 11-13.-
Thomas: -And we're going to use our names when?-
John: -When you become sick of numbers Thomas.-
Thomas: -Already have sir.-
John only smiled in his helmet and stretched his arms after Thomas spoke with such confidence. As he stretched he turned to look around, seeing a shadowed figure walk out of the camp and later return.
John: -I think...-
Thomas: -I already saw him, I wouldn't mind the kid, we have no need to report something as subtle as that.-
John: -And I'll say when we do report it.-
Max and Thomas: -Yes sir.-
