The swarm of droids had several things in their advantage. The first was their size & speed, even a well drilled soldier would have a difficult time hitting something that small & moving that fast. The second advantage was the terrain. On the rough, rocky side of the mountain, the droid's ability to scale the rock face mean that they could easily gain cover, only exposing themselves long enough to fire at the cadets. The Final advantage was that they were hive linked, so the entire group reacted as a single whole as apposed to the untried cadets.
The three fireteams of SS Operatives crossed the open space of the landing pad in under a minute, ignoring the few shots that glanced off their thick armour. Two minutes after the shuttle's doors had opened, the blast door leading into the mountain complex was blown inwards by a pair of shaped breaching charges. Rushing across the deck strewn with still glowing fragments of molten blast door, the fireteams entered the bunker. Moments later, the swarms of droids also poured into the opening, leaving behind a few smashed comrades that had fallen to lucky shots. Once inside, the droids did as their programming dictated, forcing themselves into the ventilation & other access system lines such as sewer. From there they would spread out & map the layout, as well as spring ambushes wherever they could.
Without further knowledge of the structure, the fireteams contented themselves to forcing themselves deeper into the bunker. The ship outside was left forgotten, either they would complete their mission to kill those in command here, or they would die. If they were successful, a new shuttle would be send down for the remaining Operatives.
