Welcome friend, I apologize for the shortness: I'm on my Iphone. Unlike other sites, JvS does not make use of a character approval system - we have a few banned species such as the Gen'dai, and a few force powers that we don't allow (Force storm, wormhole version) as well as a few other things, but beyond that the scope of a character is completely up to the RPer. This allows for a broad range of creativity. Basically, the core rules are don't call hits on other people in combat, and don't make your own character something GMed or outrageously powerful - if he IS powerful in an area, make sure he's weak somewhere else.

As for the guides and such, there's really only two sections on the site you should at least glimpse over. The general rules and regulations, and specific rulings on things that have been an issue in the past for the site, both covered here:

We're a pretty laid back place compared to other RP sites, no minimum posting quality, no minimum amount of words needed for a post - though its something of an unspoken rule that you put out more than a sentence or two at a time. There's a process for obtaining rare items and such Inuni (in universe), but again, the general rule of thumb is when in doubt, RP it out. EDIT: P.S, names every once and a while get a little problematic when setting up an account I've found. If you go into your account and try and change the display name, you should be able to put in a space just fine. if the problem persists, it might be an issue unique to your account, and one of the Whills (Whills = admins) might be able to fix it for you.
