I've been playing with the idea of having a network of Shard operatives collecting intel from various factions around the galaxy for a while now. The idea is that a droid can get into places that organics can't, will hear things that organics won't, and are ignored in a way that organics aren't. Droids are ubiquitous in the Star Wars universe, and no one ever pays them any mind.
What I'm looking for are a few players willing to either create or NPC Shard characters for the network. How you collect your intel is up to you, as is the faction or planet you wish to work within. Ideally, you'll be able to obtain OOC permission to be there beforehand.
The storylines will largely be self driven. As operatives, you'll be required to work independently of all but the most general of instructions. I'll probably have this character act as a handler, coming around from time to time to covertly collect data, but really, you won't have to deal with me much. This will definitely be a plus for some folks who would otherwise be discouraged.
Why do this now? Shards have long been discriminated against, and the Cold War is the perfect chance to turn that around a little bit. Knowledge is power, and by knowing where all the bodies are buried, we can gain a considerable amount of leverage. Information will be traded to various factions, not for money, but for favors. If we do this right, the Network has the potential to become plenty powerful in its own right.
So if you're interested in spy-themed RP, maybe with folks you've never written with before, now's the time to give it a go.
