Listening, Kaylex's jaw dropped when the woman lit her laser swords. He could feel Oblee stiffen as she threatened them. Despite being terrified of how this would go down, beneath the mask, Kaylex smirked and held up his hands in surrender.
Look lady, we ain't looking for any trouble, alright? No need to get hostile here. We ain't done nothing, 'sides talk to ya.
At this moment, Oblee decided to speak up, still warily eyeing up the woman wielding two lightsabers.
"In ting jeejee lwaa babatpiuh bai uen, Kaylex. Jee tee dotke kahkonh joppay jeejee bancaie tee boonowa bu datka hocan..." (Maybe we should listen to her, Kaylex. I ain't dying when we still haven't found the beast yet...)
Shaking his head, Kaylex shot a glare back to his associate.
Oblee, I've told you, we are close. I've spent my entire life studying these elusive creatures. We are on the right track, I assure you.
At this point, they would either be allowed to continue, or they'd be cut down. Or eaten, should the greater Krayt show up. Alone, neither party stood much chance, but perhaps if they worked together, they could fell the great beast without it costing them their lives...?

Luxeria looked between the two as they spoke. Like them, she didn't wish for a fight either, though her reasons were different. She was confident enough in her abilities that she believed she could take the beast down alone. However, if she was facing them when it appeared, taking it down as well as them would be extremely difficult. And she wasn't about to let another take her prize much less help her claim it. This hunt was a trial in and of itself. She had to do it alone to further prove her capabilities to herself, the Blackguard, and the Sith'ari.
She then caught the final words spoken from Kaylex, causing her eyes to focus in hard upon him. So she was close to the beast. That was good to know. If that was the case, she further believed herself to be the key in drawing it out. As such, there was no more time to waste. Deactivating her sabers, she gave them another hard glance. "The beast is mine and mine alone. Interfere and I will kill you." At that point, she let the Dark-side flow through and her pendant, her presence once again becoming amplified as her forest green eyes turned to a burnibg orange before them. "That is you're only warning."
She let her gaze linger upon them for a moment more before turning her back to them and making her way back to the ship, which was lowering down from where it hovered to allow her an easier means of boarding.

Somewhere nearby.
The squabbling of the three hunters was loud enough for their prey to hear which alerted the greater Krayt to where the hunters were. The Greater Krayt dragon began to move towards the hunters that had gathered, for it was hungry and some or all of the hunters would make for a nice snack. The Krayt let out a roar as it moved closer to it's prey.

Just as Luxeria reached the area beneath the boarding ramp, she came to a stop as she heard the roar eminating from the sands nearby. It sounded massive, making her believe this to be the creature she sought. Looking to her right where it came from, she gave a smirk, her presence rising higher and mixing with the pendant around her neck in hopes to draw it out.
She then turned back to the other two, the smirk fading and her gaze becoming a deathly stare as the last warning she'd give. If they so much as got close enough to attack it, she'd kill them first before resuming her bout with the dragon.
Jumping up onto the boarding ramp, she pulled out her comlink and presented her orders to Satele. ::Satele, turn the ship to the portside and make our way forward and raise altitude to one-hundred meters. Our prey is nearby::
Doing as instructed, the A.I turned the ship to the leftband begabn a slow cruisevacross the sand, lifting up to the designated altitude, just with reach of the dragon should it be fully grown, but far enough away to easily avoid a sudden attack.

The Dune Sea was not a nice place. It was hot. It was dusty. It was empty. It was light years from anything even remotely like population. Of course this made it a rather nice place to run field tests of various older tank designs with the idea in mind to replace the current in use system.
Clan D'Ordinii had collected four of the most common tank chassis available in the galaxy. Any one of these would be widely & cheaply available. Of course, the final selection would have to be heavily modified before it entered common service to the clan, but that would be true of any design. & strangely enough it would be less cost intensive than the current method of completely internal fabrication. The AAT was an older Confederacy design. Its major advantage is that it would require the least modification. The AT-ST was a much newer Imperial design. Sturdy & reliable. It would require the heaviest modification to put into service, but it was the current forerunner in favor. The somewhat older T2-B rebel design was also a possibility. It was by far the most common & cheapest of the designs being tested. The last was the Republic TX-130. While not nearly as common as the T2-B, it would require much less modification.
So far, none of the standard modifications had been implemented. This meant that each would require an actual test pilot for the testing, instead of being able to be remotely control or drone control. Of course, not all the tests required a pilot in the craft either. Fifty of each craft had been moved to the test site, & while many would survive, it was certain that some wouldn't.
There was a loud KRUMP As the AAT currently on the testing range exploded in a ball of flames. The test staff took careful notes on how much power & in what spots the craft could survive damage. That particular unit had been exploded & repaired several times already, but eventually it would pass beyond a usable point, as several others already had. At other points on the range, AATs maneuvered in formation or ran through test courses designed to test the limits of the craft. Off to one side, the test crews of the AT-STs worked to prepare their craft for the next round. Off to the south, out of range (& behind a ridge) of any miss fired ordinance, Rested the TX-130 & T2-B models. Further south even than that (well in the distance) resting the core ship of the sub-clan that had been contracted out to do this work.
The test crews would be both familiar & strange, to any locals that wandered by. The short nature & distinctive voices of jawas would be instantly recognized, but the mandalorian armor (& occasional duster or wide brimmed hat) would be a touch strange. This group was strange even before they had left this world & eventually joined up with a mandalorian clan. Back then, they had been the Sand Lightning jawa clan. Now they were part of Clan D'Ordinii.

Vesh put down the macrobinoculars after observing part of the mandalorian weapons test. Laying prone on the edge of a large dune a few kilometres away from the exploding AAT lay 4 members of the Bloodrage Pirates. Vesh and her recon team were scouting ahead for an operation that had personally been approved by Arkan, the leader of the Pirates.
Vesh had been stationed on Tatooine for over two local years and had managed to build an extensive network of contacts since the Pirates had officially moved away. In the power vacuum multiple areas of control had opened up and the opportunities had multiplied. The latest was the build up of a Mandalorian weapons test happening in a remote area of the Dune Sea. The latest observation had confirmed this and confirmed the vehicles involved. Sliding backwards from the edge of the dune, Vesh turned to her recon team.
“The equipment is all there and the unused weapons are being stored to the south of the range. The storage area seems to be behind some sort of rise in the terrain. As I see it, we have 2 choices, either assault the storage area while the majority of the enemy are concerned with testing or we hit them during the night.”
The team discussed each option quietly amongst themselves, but they concluded that a night raid would mean too many enemy personnel would be camped near the vehicles and they would have a better response time. So a daylight raid was decided and in order to not lose the element of surprise, they would attack today, as soon as they were in position. The four Echani Pirates moved back to their stolen speeder and Vesh keyed in a transmission as they sped away to re-group closer to the southern staging area.

In a landspeeder not too far away from the Mandalorian staging area, sat Vesh and her recon team. Her macrobonoculars were out again and she was observing the building that she believed was some kind of administrative office or and sort of command centre for this weapons staging area. Either way that is where she believed the access codes for the armoured vehicles that were yet to be tested. The building and the facility in general looked to be moderately guarded, obviously they were not expecting much trouble out here apart from the occasional Tuskan Raider. Vesh and her team could have probably been successful in a full frontal assault of the facility but the guards may have been able to stall them long enough for any vehicles being tested to reinforce and spell defeat for the pirates. Defeat was not an option! Vesh was still observing the admin building when she pressed the activation button on her commlink.
On the other side of the facility, furthest from the main gate and admin building a small group of the pirates had disguised themselves as Tusken Raiders, complete with slug throwers and gaffi sticks. They were laying in wait behind a small sand dune near to the perimeter fence. There were eight of them in total and they were waiting for the signal that had just popped up on their commlinks. After a deep breath they all stood and ran over the sand dune towards the perimeter fence. They all began yelling link Tuskan Raiders and began firing at any and all of the nearest guards. Their job was to make it through the fence and cause as much chaos as they could on their side of the staging area.
A large smile slowly rippled across Vesh’s sleek, Echani face as she saw the attack begin through her scope.

It wasn't uncommon for tuskans raid or spy on the testing grounds. A fact that meant everything but the most basic bedding & mess areas were located on the core ship some distance away. With yet another group of local raiders causing trouble, a ten man squad of the on duty guards rushed out of the building. A few seconds later, they had mounted up on speeder bikes (most of the bikes looking very customized & possibly illegal in most civilized areas) & took off across the many kilometers of open testing grounds. They had a combination of enough faith in their own skills & trust in their fellow pilots, that they didn't even detour around the active testing areas. Judging from the number of bike left at the barrack complex, there were only another 10 troopers.

The smile on Vesh’s face seemed to broaden as she observed a squad of guards mount speeder bikes and speed off across the range. The distraction was working. There would almost certainly be guards left in the building but the pirate reckoned a good deal would have been despatched to tackle her distraction.
“Lets go!”
She ordered the rest of her team after observing the departing guards to have made it a good distance across the testing facility. Vesh put her macro binoculars back in her hip pouch and drew her blaster rifle ready to begin. She sat in the passenger seat of an unarmed speeder with a driver and two rear seated passengers. There were four other speeders with a similar compliment and an armed Flash speeder with three crew and a mounted blaster cannon.
Once the order had been given the speeders accelerated to full speeder heading towards the front gates. The crew started firing their blaster rifles at any guards they could see and the Flash speeder turned it’s blaster cannon in the gate and the gate supports, hoping to destroy the gate before the speeders arrived. The plan was to be within range of the admin building before the enemy could exit and mount up.

The remaining guards bolted into action with the sharp crack of a cannon blast. It was not the sound itself that caused the issue, as the testing range had been awash in that sort of sound for a few weeks now. Instead it was both the direction & proximity of the blast that caused the reaction. The compound & testing area didn't have much in the way of a border. After all the tanks needed plenty of area to run around in & the shifting sand would make it difficult anyway. They did have a simple trestle arm blocking the main way into the barracks cluster from the south though, mostly to keep the sparse local wildlife out.
The pirates would have to go through the barrack area to reach the parked tanks or the testing area (unless they decided to circle around wide), but it would take them a few moment to file their units through the now open section. Going out would be much easier on this side, as the shifting sands & border meant that anything floating could head out in any direction.
The remaining ten guards had been idly interested in the hopes that they would be called for reinforcements to the group out responding. But now it seemed something different was in store. Either way they were prepared. Rushing to the various windows & doors of the guard barracks, they had a clear view down the entrance path & the six speeders heading rapidly toward them. The building gave them some cover, but it would do little to stop blasts from that mounted gun. Nine of the guards opened fire immediately, spraying blaster rounds toward the lead vehicle. If they managed to disable it soon enough, it would block the access for the others behind it, forcing the enemy to approach on foot & preventing them from using the mounted gun. The last jawa though? He was busy call this attack in to the core ship.

The enemy had opened fire, a swift response that impressed and annoyed Vesh in equal measure. The speeders passengers immediately returned fire, they didn’t need orders for that. They also didn’t need orders to prioritise the upper floor windows which would have better firing positions. As they approached the gate to the barracks area the first speeder made a swift right turn to start to flank around the enemy occupied building in an anti-clockwise direction. During this turn the speeder took several hits and two of the passengers were hit, one of them fatally.
The second speeder followed swiftly behind but once it was through the gate it began to flank the barrack building in a clockwise direction. It too took a few hits and again one of the passengers was fatally wounded. The remaining three unarmed speeders alternated their evasive manoeuvres, splitting their force between clockwise and anti-clockwise movement. The armed Flash speeder was the last to cross the gate into the barracks area and turned to begin a clockwise circle around the building. It was moving a little slower than the other but the laser cannon had already begun firing on the building’s ground floor.
Vesh was still in the lead speeder but it had taken significant damage, slowing it down and causing it to smoke from the engine compartment. She instructed the driver to pull over directly next to the barracks building in an area that was only overlooked by a single small window. Both of the living occupants jumped out of the speeder with their rifles drawn and began to move along the wall of the building towards the nearest door. This door was close to the end of the wall and it would take several seconds for them to reach it, as the remaining speeders circled the building and avoided any “friendly fire” incidents.

The building had not been designed to stand up to vehicle grade fire. It hadn't really been designed to stand up to any kind of fire all all. While the lighter handheld weapons only blast small holes into the walls & the roof beyond, the larger vehicle cannon effectively gutted the building with only a few shots. What was left of the walls quickly turned the inside of the building into a roaring furnace. One which nothing exited.
The other two buildings in the square arrangement (forming opposite side of a large square, with the gate as the third side & the now burning barrack on the fourth) did not appear to be of any more solid construction. On the plus side, neither of them appeared to be occupied at the moment. Both appeared to be additional bunk houses, but neither had the second story like the primary bunk house did. Further in toward the testing grounds were the garages & parking areas.
Or course, all of this did not go unnoticed. While the reporting jawa hadn't managed to include much detail, he had managed to get word off that they were under attack before the transmission was suddenly cut. Already back at the core ship, defensive troops were starting to scramble into gear. Of course, someone back at base had the bright idea that they technically already had a fair number of tanks deployed. It would only be a matter of making a few extra calls ...

"Stage 2 is a go."
Vesh gave the orders over the comm as she inspected the damage and roaring fire of the barrack building. She had not anticipated that the buildings would have been so quickly constructed and so easily destroyed. She hoped that any codes to activate the tanks awaiting testing had not been in this building.
"You and you, search that building. You and you search that building. You, go and secure the parking area around the un-tested tanks. Let me know if there is any enemy presence."
All of the pirate speeders had gathered around Vesh after the initial resistance had been eliminated. She ordered the searches of the two remaining building, assigning two of the unarmed speeders each to get this done. She had ordered the armed Flash speeder to move off towards the parking area. The enemies next move would be to scramble to secure their hardware, she could not let that happen.
Coming over the horizon from the middle of the desert, the Pirate’s stage 2. Three Platoon Attack Craft were speeding towards the testing area. These were carrying the sixty extra Reapers that would drive the “liberated” tanks out of the testing area to the RV. Vesh could see them and their dust plume from her position next to one of the remaining barrack building. She still needed the activation codes for the test tanks.

The other buildings proved empty but for the day to day clutter that meant people lived in there. The staging area however, proved to be blessedly unoccupied. A quickly glance inside any of the tanks on the field would show that the majority of them had been effectively hot wired into service already. Those few tanks with functional key pads had the codes literally taped to the panel.
While the squad of ten mandos on speeder bikes blazed in toward what was likely a distraction, though they didn't know about the other things going on at the camp, they opened fire with the embedded weapons of their mounts. There was no uniform nature to this weaponry, instead it was a mix of different blaster types, several of them originally crew serviced weapons. Though one had an ion cannon of some kind and another had what seemed to be an automatic grenade launcher.
By now the core ship had reached the forces in the testing grounds. The AATs currently on active maneuvers in the field began to swing south toward the base camp. Despite their speed, it would still take a few precious minutes to reach the camp due to local terrain & general distance. The AT-STs were much closer, but they would take longer to bring up to speed. In either case, it would be a race to see which body of tanks would return to the base camp first.

“There’s nothing here boss!”
This was the second time Vesh had heard this after her team had finished searching the second empty building. They must have been keeping whatever codes or keys were required for the tanks with the tanks themselves, not very secure. The truth would be even less secure than she thought.
“Mount up, down to the tanks!”
She yelled just as the Platoon Attack Craft pulled through the remains of the barracks gate. Vesh and the Reaper that had left their damaged speeder, mounted up in the spare seats of the other four. Vesh’s original speeder was now crushed under the weight of a half-collapsed wall of the barracks building. They salvaged the gear from their fallen comrades and the speeder convoy rushed over to the staging area.
The armed Flash speeder had dismounted the two passengers and had taken up a position between the unattended tanks and the rest of the testing facility. They could see that normal testing had been put on hold and that several of the vehicles being tested were moving towards the staging area. The speeder was no match for an AAT or AT-ST but it would deter any scouts on speeders or any advanced infantry. The passengers had been taking a look around the staging area and one of them even opened up and jumped inside one of the Sabre-tanks.
Vesh and her speeder convoy quickly arrived and the Executioner quickly disembarked to get an update on the situation. It was quite dire now, if they did not get moving quickly the Mandalorian forces from the testing area would descend on them. They would not take kindly to the Pirates actions. Just as she was about to go off on a huge rant at the nearest pirate, she was interrupted as the top hatch of a Sabre-tank popped open. Luckily it was one of the pirates but he still found many blasters pointed his way.
“Vesh, the codes are inside the tanks!”
“Pilots get to your tanks! You know the drill, a fighting withdraw to the RV point. Speeders, scout ahead and secure the route. Let’s go people, if you fall behind I’m leaving you in the care of the Mandalorians!”
Her orders were bellowed without any delay after hearing the good news. The pilots wasted no time disembarking from the platoon attack craft and rushing to the nearest tank. Jumping inside most of them found codes to activate the tanks and those that didn’t found they could be activated without any codes. Vesh boarded her speeder once again and moved towards where the flash speeder was. The other light speeders began moving back through the barracks area and out of the testing area towards the pirate RV.

The the ten mounted guards finally reached the small raiding party of eight 'tuskan raiders'. Most forces would dismount & engage. But that wasn't the way for this particular group of Jawa Mandalorians. Instead, a number of autocannons & other mounted weaponry began to chew up long tracks of sand as the mounter guards strafed right through the center of the disguised pirates. Even the smallest of the mounted weapons was far larger than someone would expect to be mounted on a speeder bike, but these jawas loved two things above all. Speed & guns. The thunder of their attack & their un-muffled engines was a wave of pain to unprotected ears & was strong enough to be felt deep in a person's guts as the craft roared past.
Meanwhile, the AATs continued to speed toward the now fleeing pirate tanks. As the first of the AT-STs stuttered into motion.

Long before the pirates
The Dune sea had no memory, when the sun set the sand did not remember the heat of the day. When it rose it did not recall the frigid embrace of the night. The desert held no memory. Any footsteps one left were soon swallowed up by the sand and the winds. If you fell you would soon be covered by the sand and forgotten. Zed did not know how long he had walked, or how long he had been here. He had come to the desert as many others had before him to hide, or in some cases to die. It was said that a man would become dehydrated within 30 minutes of being here. They would perish soon after. The only thing that kept Zed going was instinct. Instinct and The Force that kept him alive when nothing else remained.
Still life existed even out here, and despite his utter exhaustion, despite the rumbling in his stomach from not eating for who knows how many days or weeks he gone without food. More on reflex than need Zed stood still in the dawns light. He would have been shivered if not for the excitement of the hunt. Beneath his hand a juvenile Profogg dug itself out of the sand and prepared itself for the day. Faster than the eye could track Zed stuck out and grabbed the Profogg. Using a small blade he cut the creatures throat and pinched out the blood drinking it thirstily. Mixing it with some of the water he still had left he found the mixture oddly satisfying and thirst quenching. Starting a fire with some dung he had found that belonged to a Eoopie he tossed the beast into the flames until the skin blackened and charred. Eating the meat without much relish soon after it was done he began his march again. Zed walked until the sun had risen fully into the sky and the second one was cresting the horizon. At this point the ungainly tall man knelt and began to dig. He dug without tool or aid until a trench no bigger than his body and three feet deep was dug into the sand. It was dug so that for most of the day Zed would be covered in shade except for the middle of the day and the hours before and after it. At this point the sun beat down on the cloak he had placed over the top. He tried to sleep.
Waking, or at least giving up on sleep as the first of the two suns was starting to set Zed looked up and saw a Urusai overhead. Walking out of his coffin sized depression in the ground Zed took a few steps before falling into the sand face first. He did not move. He waited, patiently until the Urusai landed on his back. Just as fast as before he grabbed the creature and using the Force ended its life. With the same efficiency as with the Profogg Zed took as much from the animal as he could feasting on his stringy flesh. When he could get no more he began another walk through the night. Walking more so not to freeze than with a purpose he struck out in a random direction his mind already blank.

& There stood The OldDead man. Smack in the middle of The Dune Sea. Dirt upon dirt. & just his luck, the very moment his feet settled on solid land a tremendous wind picked up a weighty amount of that land, hurling it directly at him. Instinctively he closed his eyes and awaited the onslaught. And the sand blew right through him. Eyes opening he remembered that whole dead business and mumbled -An Tiarna- 'Right....' An Tiarna truly could relate with some crackpot with a lightsaber mowing down an entire Tusken village. Well not the cute little Raiders. But the rest? Yes. He'd kill them all. & he asked himself, 'Self what was it that brought us here? Lightsaber Crystals?' Self replied sharply 'Not that type of Crystal brought us here you amadant!' & there he stood arguing with himself

By the time Epona had came to a slow canter she was exhausted. And thirsty! A smile grew on her face and she rolled her Eyes. Right in front of where she had stopped lie an oasis. A few hardy trees and shrubs. And did she just see an animal? Who cares? She thought; I need water. Slowly she walked up to the pool. Bending down Epona took a long drink and then she stripped down and she the task of dousing herself with water. Discarding the notion she dived into the oasis. After a long wonderful dip she climbed up out of the water. Carefully she dressed. She had dreamt of the triplets several times in the past whilre. These dreams had become more and more frequent an vivid. Something was up

Nartaga sat on the sandy ground in front of a small heating unit, staring at the heating element burn a bright orange. His cycler rifle leaned against his shoulder at an angle into the ground, the barrel pointing up towards the dark hued sky. They had made camp for the night, and the two small tents that were being used by the adventuring party for shelter, while making for less than great shelter, were better than nothing. Still, the noise the material made in the wind, though mostly his thoughts, kept the young Tusken shaman awake this night.
He had been...content was not the right word, but a better one did not come to mind in the moment - living alone in the Mospics of Tatooine. Away from the troubles of his people, his tribe, at least directly. Indirectly the pressure of his people's opinion of him still impacted him deeply, down to his core. In their eyes, he threw aside all of their traditions in favor of becoming closer to the outsiders, those where his own origins came from. To the most ardent believers in the traditional ways of the R'Crurak tribe, this only reinforced their opinions of those not born of Tatooine. Taking orphans had been a mistake, it sullied the tribe and diluted the connection their people had with land.
He had been in a torpor, at least mentally and spiritually. Removed and separate from his troubles, at least in theory. In truth, they had slowly been eating away at his soul, dragging him down into a deep depression. He had been a shell of himself, only performing basic actions needed for survival, all while those feelings nipped at the edges of his mind; no matter how much he told himself that this was what was best, that he was...content.
Nartaga turned his head as he heard the crunch of sand behind him, his hands instinctively moving to ready his cycler rifle, but stopping when he saw Zed exit from one of the tents in their camp.
