Indeed, had Panno been but a mere mortal he would have been tired out by the terrain. However he was a force user, as long as he let the force flow through him the winding pattern over hills and across slopes would not slow him down any. Well it would not tire him out. It was still going to be a long walk to the cave entrance.

Left foot, right foot, and so on with a scanner in his hand, just like everyones favourite red shirts he would look down every now and then whenever it would make a noise. He was looking down for so long on after the first hour of walking that he missed something. Taking a step to far Pannos foot did not find solid ground, and as it continued to go down it brought him with it. The hill had a steep embankment, nearly 90 degrees. He fell, and fell and fell. Although it was only 20 seconds or so to him it felt a lot longer as time slowed. He did not want to look down, but did to see the incline soften and as he hit it gracefully he was able to see behind him. All the grass and shurbbery behind him was ripped out, the back of his red armour now stained green.

Laying there for a few minutes to catch his breath the Dressillian kept on going.

* thud* As he lay on the ground resting the squad of troopers and I stood in an arc protecting the other side of the blast doors of the Cavern based hangar. the troopers utilized an Experimental commando armor that I had designed based on inspiration from my old “Grey tech” armor while I had my cowl raised over my head concealing my face in the darkness within. using the modified adjustments of cerebral implant, I connected myself within the sealed comm channel that the troopers used to speak securely within their helmets.
‘ Lids online’ [:: Sir, do you know who this is?::]
in the Darkness of my cowl I paused, and thanked myself for my ocular upgrades. the eyes themselves were organic similar to a natural eye, but I had them designed with a special “Second lid” film that would seal over the eye in the same manner as a Nictitating membrane but would allow me to see information accessed via my prototype sub-wave network “Starnet”. [:: the info is coming online now. Name is Panno Grai`Tal, Affiliation appears to be with the Galactic Empire based on Armor markings… That’s it::] [:: That’s it? what do you mean? you are using that Starnet communication network of yours, you should be able to see rank, weaknesses … everything.::] [:: one problem there Sergeant, yes I can pull facial recognition and look him up on every database… BUT, I have to have synchronized starnet with that information network prior. So, either he is not in the databases that I have synchronized with, or the additional information I seek is above my security clearance.::] [:: … ::] [:: he is getting up. steel yourselves men, but do not aim guns until he crosses the threshold and displays intent to engage.::] As Panno crossed over the threshold of the Hangar my hands were at my sidearms (my pistol on my left side, my heirloom saber to my right) I did not want to be the first to draw. when Panno noticed the arc of men barring his way I smiled in the cloak of my cowl, the membrane receding from its place over my eyes.“ Greetings traveler, you appear to be lost. Allow me to help you out. My name is Diamonte Tuhlute, and I know the best way out of this range… Twins, would you kindly?” the two trooper in the capstone of the arc at my request went to an “At ease” position, Raised their hands to level with their head, brought their hands to the sides of their helmets and removed them, placing the helmets on the ground. then the trooper standing on my right, Panno’s left stuck a foot behind and pivoted to face me. the troopers then in synchronized cadence walked to Panno and myself, stopping at a personal distance to each of our persons and held their hands out flat.
When the trooper came to me, I removed my saber and pistol from my waist in such a way that I could not use activate either, raised them to show Panno I had no intent to harm, and placed then in the hands of the troop directly to me. I then placed my hands up (showing they were empty) and lowered my Cowl from above my head, revealing my face.“ However, I must ask that we both Disarm ourselves. this is a place of peace and the main reason I have a squad of commandos is for the protection of this place from unnecessary violence.”

The force indeed works in strange ways. Who would have thought he could bump into them totally by happen stance like this. Maybe it was a clue. Whatever it may have meant, meant little to Panno. The person he had been following was there. It was hard to miss someone when those around them all wore matching armour. I mean he was dressed like a Jedi, and the aura he gave out spoke about his dedication to the light. He remained silent for a minute, weighing the odds. Sure he was here to follow Diamonte, track his actions but he had not been told how. Its nice to finally come face to face with you Mr Tuhlute, I am Panno Grai'Tal... The rest of what he said was cut off as one of the twins approached him. Tensing for battle he was surprised by this outcome. Was it worth it to disarm when there were still a dozen armed guards around him? Did he really have a choice? If he did not he would no doubt be cut to ribbons, and the Empire would never know about this or his death. Removing the lightsaber from his chest he put it in the mans hand, then did likewise with his sword. As it came out of the scabbard it gave off a colour similiar to human flesh, signifying his nervousness. Please be careful with that, its priceless. Turning his attention back to Monte his forehead crinkled even more giving him the appearance of a wrinkled old mummy. I think you should know, the Empire is after you. Right now its just monitoring but sooner or later they will take more drastic measures.

[::sir, he is only attempting get a rise out of you. My best recommendation would simply be to ignore the situation and ask why he is here.::]
I heard the voice of the Sergeant in my head as my own conscience, imploring me not to continue the discussion regarding the reasons the empire, however my hood was down…. the only shield protecting me from scrutiny in terms of pauses… i could not even pause to form proper words via my implant, so… taking the words in my head their value, i decided against their advice
“Thank you for the insight to the size… or the focus of the empire intellegence network. I can assure you that there are vast numbers of Jedi that the empire would find vastly more value to the cause of the empire as opposed to a little known Rock collector that i am. But, let us speak no more of this…”
I paused noticing the Twins walking up SIF’s boarding ramp and placing them with reverence within before exiting as Pixar sealed the shuttle preventing anyone from entering at the moment. i remember the unique design and glow of the sword that he handed over and processed the information (difficult without my lenses, but i could manage) it related back to an article i saw recently regarding noteworthy craftsmen throughout the galaxy… Panno’s name came in a couple places behind my own. The craftsman was still learning but he was raising fast i knew at a point soon his prowess would eclipse my own.
“On a different not Panno, although this past year kept me from reading news, I have seen your name pop-up as a prominent craftsmen… That sword, did you use a special technique when imbuing it with energies of the force....?"
[::sir, now might be less of a good time to swap trade secrets, and more of a time to find out why he is her or at least GET HIM OUT OF HERE…::]
“well yes, i quite understand that…” the sergeant’s words ringing in my head well before i could think what i might have been doing and revealed a secret regarding my neural implants by speaking as opposed to even pausing since the Sergeant's words interupted my own thought. “… what i meant to say is Master Grai`Tal, it is quite apparent that your following me here was not accidental, and further more if the Empire has and number of men watching moves that i publicly make, then you are at least among their number… what enticed you to tail me on this particular journey, to this specific cavern system?”

Perhaps he was just a rock collector, just like Panno was someone who made pointy rocks. There was such a thing as selling yourself short, and then there was this. Did Diamonte really believe himself to be insignificant? This was a man who had taken charge in a dark time in the universe, someone who had not only aided in re-opening the Yavin Praxeum but was the Headmaster for a time. Someone of his stature could move mountains.
Raising the thicker skin where his eyebrow would have been he wondered about the sanity of this Jedi. That was until it dawned on him he might have some way to talk to the other people. Be it in his ear or in his skull it mattered little to him, obviously one of them had cut in on what he had asked. The Jedi might not be a threat, but the security might be so he figured it wasnt safe to answer the first question right away.
Would you believe I was sent on this mission because I accidentally took the Emperor on a joyride?
He wasnt exactly kidding about that. Except instead of joyride, it was more kidnapping. Still he could not complain considering he should have been killed for this.
I was sent here to watch you, and people dont often come to Bakura unless they are here for a reason.
Should he tell him that the force had sent him a vision? It was fleeting, and only showed him standing beside Monte as equals and united. Whatever would happen in this cavern would no doubt lead to that.
Oh and the sword is made using a combination of ancient Jedi, Jensaarai and Imperial Knight techniques. The best of all the worlds coming together to create something better.

It was my turn to raise an eyebrow that Panno didn’t answer my main question when asked of him. It either meant he did not trust me or it was the troopers that still were surrounding him. Taking a gamble i uttered two words
“perimeter. two.”
The men left the arc and took places around the perimeter of the room. one of the troopers with helmets on maintained observation on panno, and (as was required) one maintained observation on me. turning my attention to the man, i relaxed myself.
“I would… if i believed there was change in leadership. My father and Grandfather both left details in their holocrons of the emperor. and pleasantries aside that person would either promote you to a position where they would be able to keep a close eye on you… or more likely, squib the kidnapping by killing you themself.”
I left the guess as to whom i was referring in the dark. But not wishing to take up more time, i once more raised my hood, but this time i extended the light of my aura out just a little bit so that my face, albeit shadowed appeared past the cowl and was visible to Panno.
“Alright, i will tell you what is going on. It is true that few, even within the jedi know of a temple in the mountains of Bakura, however, as your eyes clearly show you this place is here. as for the ‘how’ to save a lecture on 4th and 5th dimensional quantum mechanics, just understand me when i say that the idea of this location is analogous to dust on the boot of a traveler. when a friend of my family came to this galaxy, the idea of this place as he brought with him created this place to co-exist with what he said and planted itself behind the mind of those he spoke of this existence to and thus temporally this place always existed… just out of the mind of Jedi. …i wouldn’t think to hard on this.”
I stopped to breath, the exact concept i explained, while physically true was hard to understand leading many people to doubt validity of what i just claimed
“However, on the easier subject of ‘why’ i am here it goes back to something a master artisan taught me while i was studying to be a jedi artisan. ‘as artisans we must be as children and ever curious. for the instant we grow complacent in our understandings, is the instant that we are passed over as craftsmen and become irrelevant.’ having a job that did allow me to explore the heavens and sate curiosity made me grow complacent as an exchange for my own sanity. however, the first question i wanted answered when i was relieve of that duty was to understand what mechanic made the so-called ‘Darksaber’ flat and why a weapon of light which emitted plasma as the blade would shine black. To that end, i am here seeking answers from the most knowledgable figures when it comes to the construction of lightsabers.”

He tried to understand, he really did. It sounded like he was talking about time and someone being able to control it but it really eluded him for the most part. Its a good thing he had recently watched a holovid by a man named Nolan who had used the same terms. Thankfully the conversation had turned to something he knew about. Craftsmanship.
My own master taught me the same saying and it is ever at more core.
It was true that Finnick did not quite keep learning but grew complacent in his age, but his youthful exuberance had been passed onto Panno.
A darksaber eh? Ive heard the rumors of them but never once believed them to be true. Ive been all over and have seen a great many things, including curved lightsaber blades but never flat. If there was someone here who actually knew how to construct one that would be amazing, but the knowledge and all those who possessed it were lost or died thousands of years ago. Right?
He was actually here to gather information on Diamonte, and what better way than to befriend the Jedi. If he gained some knowledge at the same time was it really that bad. Then he would get to see first hand why this Artisian was such a grave threat to the longevity to the Empire.

i took a moment or two in silence gazing in Panno’s direction but unaware if i was staring through the man to see his soul, or past him. The man that stood before me was in one of two groups as far as i could tell from our time thus far. The first logical grouping meant he had it through Imperial intelligence that I was sure that whatever i was seeking would be found here. the other option would be that he was a member of a group i pejoratively referred to as ‘Pudding-brains’… my rational for the second group was his statement assuming I was here seeking someone to train me in the style of creating these sabers. there was a specific saber was a legend in the history Holos… If the records were true, while Panno may be several years my Senior, the research i had done on this issue paced me ahead of him.
“You are starting from the wrong question… neither of us are apprentices to a master artisan, we must approach this problem from the most manageable portion. I am not here to seek a master to train me to make one of these sabers for myself. rather i want to definitely learn to make this saber, and doing that i will use any & every scrap for understandable data from encounters.”
I paced in an open circle around Panno, stopping at random intervals
“The Question: during the duel on Concordia between Kenobi and Vizla, what was the difference in power between the two sabers before Kenobi began using force abilities to turn the tide to his favor
The question: During the Duel on Carlac between Tano and Vizla, what factors matched the fighters evenly that jedi Tano had to slash Vizla’s Jetpack for an opening to escape
The question just one more: during the Takeover on Mandalore, in the Duel between Maul and Vizla what power factors changed that if the rules of single combat were fairly enforced would lead to Maul effortless success?”
returning to my former place i pivoted cleanly to face Panno once again… i didn’t really expect him to know any of these battles, to know the outcomes, or even to have a plausible answer as to why these events happened.
“The hypothesis that brought me here was that the Darksaber is not just a matter of output differentials between two sabers that determines the which saber ends on top. In the hands of a force user, we are looking at a saber if it is properly constructed that becomes a king maker, a saber without any possible close peer. that is why i am here, i have reason to believe that a wise figure named Huyang may be found here. and if anyone is likely to have a clue as to the the nature of construction it would be him.”
Suddenly a cloaked figure walks from the darkened corridor hearing the Footprints i turned to see my muscles tensed believing it to be an ally of Panno’s who came in through another entrance… but seeing some of the troops were saluting the figure as he entered i realized this was not a man to fear
he wore a weathered jedi cloak with the Cowl drawn. i was not sure if it was made like mine so that i could not see past, or if he had an invisible head, but peering past the cowl i could not see anything in the hood for the darkness that shielded his face. in his left hand he held a unique walking stick… the top was curved and bigger so as to accommodate a ball inside like a lantern. I did not know it at the time, but the orb drew from the bearer’s own aura and gave off light accordingly.
=???= "Welcome Techi... so you are the one the Council notified me would be coming. it is an honor to meet you, i am Arika, the caretaker of these Bakuran Archives. … i was unaware you would be bringing an uninvited guest of such weak light with you… but the council trusts your judgement and so i will escort you to the room where the Architect Communes.”
The figure tapped his staff against the floor twice and one of the trooper walked towards me, offering me a old small screened device
=Arika= “You will need this device. it has been several years since the Architect has been able to say a single word that the sentient ear could understand.”
I smiled looking over the device. it was certainly familiar to me in design… bt i really did not hope that i was expected to use this device without making it more accessible to myself. Locating the System Identification Module, i popped the card out and into a slot on my cybernetic right arm. It took only a couple of moments to duplicate and format a chip to work in concert with the Operating system as well as my personal communication network. when the new chip was installed, i tossed the unit to Panno…(Knowing that while Panno would be able understand what was going on, research some facts on the Temple's network and attempt to look up data on Starnet, he would need considerable skill to hack my private communications) At the same time, i sent a sealed communication to Pixar aboard Rouge Comet via my cerebral transmitter.
“You hold onto the commlink while we are down here… i already have the system internalized”
[::Pixar, i have synced the comms with Starnet. i have two tasks for you… first off keep an eye on the new unit and if need be break sync between the networks if the unit starts eyeing data on Starnet archives… i have tossed the actual unit to an Imperial intelligence officer. Can’t have him knowing too much about our private network. second, see if you can’t spider out and discover data currently not on Starnet that would be useful in the Data archives of Project: JH.::]
with everyone bustling around getting ready i whistled to get my Squad’s attention.
“Alright men, you know names and numbers… even distribuation half on escort, half on hangar duty. form up.”
I turn to face Panno
“my friend, for the safety of everyone, would you kindly walk ahead of me?”
as the group left the hangar, Arika lead the group followed by two commandos, Panno, myself and the other three troopers behind me.

As Diamonte circled him, he stood still and listened. It was true he did not know much about the darksaber, beyond it being lost in a raid during the Old Republic. Kenobi though, that was a name every force user knew. The fact that the Clone Wars veteran was steeped in the sabers past was something interesting. Maybe when he had the chance he would have to look up these names.
I will have to take your word on that, maybe when I have time I will search the Imperial-
Stopping midsentance Panno whipped his head toward the sound of footsteps. Just as the Jedi thought it was an ally Panno thought it was someone Diamonte had sent ahead. Sensing the Diamonte tense up Panno made the same move. If there was a second Jedi who was armed here things could very well get out of hand. Only when things turned back to talking did he let himself believe things were not going to get out of hand.
Snatching the datapad from the air he looked it over as well. Unlike Monte he did not have the same experience with things like this, nor a cybernetic attachment to put a copy of the chip in.
You trust me enough to give me this He said shaking the datapad
But not enough to walk beside or behind you? Very well I understand.
He was not hurt by the sentiment, it made sense. Both from a recent political view, the past histories of the two orders and the fact that Panno had come outright and said he was here to report his movements to the Empire. Hoping one of the guards was not about to end his life he walked forward eager to meet this "Architect" that Arika had spoken of.
If you do not mind me asking, how am I weak of light?
He assumed it had something to do with how he viewed the force compared to other force sects but to be safe he had to know. More than one fight has been sparked on ideologies that differed in view in the slightest manner. A fight was something he was rather hoping to avoid today.

I didn’t answer the question of trust immediately. mostly it was just keeping an extra set of eyes on the man so that he could not sneak off and attempt to steal more secrets to give to the empire to increase their standing.
yes i had a problem with self-degradation, but at the same time i personally viewed my own words as vastly more realist than i was give credit for. in terms of the my tenure as interim Headmaster, i realized that an academy would need someone who could commit to remaining in a single locations for months on end within the role of headmaster… and as i had said before, while my tenure gave me time in a dedicated location to hone my force abilities and learn new ones, it did little for me to grow curious about the galaxy at large and mysteries that i could tackle like this current topic. however, i was the only one who did not have commitments that could stay and act as headmaster.
Panno on the other hand, had me scratching myself in a catch 22 pattern. If Panno was truthful, he was a danger because anything he learned would be transmitted to the empire in exchange of release from the shadow of previous misdeeds such as the ‘joyride’ to which he boasted. If Panno was not truthful, what else about him was false? was he really even a Dressellian? Beyond that all i could say on the Empire was that despite getting more regular intellegence that i was able to get my hands on regarding the dealings of the Republic than the empire, and despite my current active refusal to work once more as a “Knight of the republic” due to the sustained Corruption in the senate… I held in my honest opinion that the ideal operation of the Republic was better than the Ideal operation of the Empire.
Panno’s Datapad lit up with a message as i attempted to answer[:: The names you have heard are honorific Instramtan names of legacy… Arika’s name comes from his Initials of “S” and “A” much like the name he called me ‘Techi’ comes from My initials of “D” and “T” … anyway, Arika is a hardline conservative when it comes to the principals of the jedi order. If he is who i think he is, then he at one time served on a council which protected this site, but fell into disagreement with the other masters when he proposed the belief that there should always be one jedi watching the temple… to the point that the one jedi was ever him. …in light of certain events that happened within the last year, my registry as a ‘grey’ jedi who is at odds with the council’s rulings would make me of a lesser light in his eyes.
you have the comm because I hope that when you caught wind of me coming to Bakura that now the REASON i am here is more important to you than being able to report my movement to the empire. …if that is the case, you will need the Comm to understand what the Architect is saying as much as i will ::] As the message finished transmitting we entered the chamber where the “Architect” communed. Much to my surprise however, there was not one ‘Architect’ as my research would suggest but 5. Arika commented that with the number of Academies in the old republic era, multiple ‘Architects’ were instituted, each shared a linked database of experiences and styles, but each had its own personality with which to deal with the younglings that came to it. However to the unit standing below looking up at the Architects the room gave off a blue ethereal glow as mist blurred the edges of the room. The architects themselves upon the Balcony were as Ethereal dieties, no longer with a tangible body, but still with a tangible connection to the force and to the data pad. all of a sudden, Arika tapped his staff before he and the troops left the chamber - at the same time that 4 of the hooded figures vanished from the room. leaving pan and myself alone with this robed figure. as he spoke, his words were audible to me via my implant, however they appeared on the Screen of the data pad that Panno was holding. =???=“ welcome weary travelers, I am Yishu one of the Architects, there is nothing that is known about the Artificing of lightsabers that i and my brothers do not know. Come closer and know me better.” I took a tentative step forward, stepping so that i could no longer see Panno. The instant i did so, the figure changed location from the balcony to 5 paces ahead of me.“ I am Diamonte Tuhlute of the Jedi order, this is Panno Grai`Tal, of the Imperial Knights… I… We come seeking wisdom of the origin of the Darksaber.”

Hearing the ping of a message Panno jerked his head to one side knowing somehow that whatever was sent was meant for his eyes. Before he could look though they entered the grand hall. His eyes were not focused on the people but rather they room itself. The guttering torches, the griffon's chiselled into the wall beneath the feet of the 'Architects", the pillars and finally on the windows. From this vantage point he could not see what was on the coloured glass but judging by the rest of the room it was something spectacular.
Looking down he read the message. Panno nodded but he did not reply. He was here to report to the Empire the mans whereabouts. What he was doing; not what he learned here. More and more often he heard Nicamadeus saying "For the greater good" in his mind. Some nights that was all he could think about. If indeed there was darksaber information here that could lead to its construction he could tell. He could outfit all 900 some odd Imperial Knights with them and set forth.
Had he been a different man, and experienced other things he would have done such a thing. Followed orders without questioning them. Now though he did. He was no grunt, he was a Dressilian who prized freedom and honesty above all. As much as he admired the new Emperor he knew if he was given this tactical advantage in the field he would go to war and fight destroying hundreds of worlds. Just before entering he sent the message.
If I don't give them what they want, then I will most likely get my head cut off as a traitor. I dont know how they will trust my word, nor if you will but anything we find on Darksaber will remain between us... However I will have to pass you off as a doddering fool.
In truth he would leave out most of the stuff that happened here out of his report. The location, the whole explanation of the cavern they were in. All they had was his word that he was not lying. He did not know how he would do it yet but these little acts of rebellion would help him maintain his sanity.
The message had just finished sending as Yishu spoke. Settling in for the long haul of reading, he looked back and walked the same distance as Monte so they were beside one another. Bowing down at the waist, right hand across his stomach and left on his back he stood again.
It is a honour to be in your presence.
Unsure of what to call him, he left out the honorific term. Eventually he knew it would be revealed to him, and if not he would follow Montes lead.

I closed the conversation off on that end for the moment. I wasn’t exactly sure how to work my words… but I was fine with having a reputation as a Doddering fool to the public’s eye because once someone reaches out to know me… they see that my brilliance comes from the eccentricities that not knowing me would gain me the label of “Doddering fool”
The specter in front of us took it’s time finding the story it would tell us… When it did, Yishu dropped its hood revealing the head similar to the N-K Necrosis.
=Yishu=“ ah yes, the mis-named saber, I know it well. People consider that the lightsaber as an Archetype is called the ‘Darksaber’ because of the most notable example. this conclusion is false, and why no one has learned to make the saber correctly since the age of the protosaber. but I am getting ahead of myself… let me show you” a light emanated from the Comm Panno held in his hand, and the Lightsaber hilt stolen by the members of clan Vizla appeared in the center of the three of us. at his own design when the story fit, the saber would break down into the components. in the darkness of my cowl, I was observing and recording all of the data…“ The artisan who crafted the saber attempted to disprove a belief that the saber was required a high amount of precision in order to create the 8 blades of color. he though that the pieces of the focusing lens were interchangeable and could substitute a the portion of the lens that was comprised of Unstable crystal for more dense crystals. the result was that although had he obeyed the directions he would have had a brilliant Purple blade, diverting from the design causes the blade to turn a midnight shade of black.” I listened intently as Yishu described the history of the flat-bladed saber that was developed by the jedi around 5000 BBY in an attempt to gain a tactical advantage over the Sith who used the same blade. meanwhile my left eye was attracted to the design of the focusing lens on the saber... not only because it fused the crystal and lens together, but also the design of it reminded me of something just out of my mind." these blades required complex and precise creation. several crystals had to be forged, each crystal would have to be trimmed to a uniform length, and then the crystals would be cut into pieces harvesting the portions of each crystal to fit together in a single Lens. The jedi council was not fond of using a synthetic crystal, but allowed the practice as trials for an Artisan to be elevated to the rank of master. The council formally ordered the cessation and destruction of the flat bladed sabers 500 years to the Civil war when it was discovered that red was a possible blade color through the process of these forged sabers. after this, though the greatest example of the remaining was the museum piece the “Darksaber” one such blade would be claimed to be in a mob boss’ collection." “ Is there anything else I…” the audio was cut though Panno was able to read Yishu asking what other questions we had before he disappeared as a figure. I attempted to reach Pixar on Starnet, but even that call was unanswered and merely pinged around the chamber, echoing every time it was in range of my receiver.“ It would appear regardless of where the troops were hired from… they do not intend for the plans of the Darksaber to leave this planet. unfortunately, we have the two best craftsmen to date on the inside of this bubble, and as far as I can sense every entrance is sealed from the inside. We can get out if we work together, but this project will require both of our active participation.” I reached into one of the pouches on my robe and pulled out a pyramidal holocron on a circular base. I held it in my open palms “ If you are skilled in Technometry, I will need you to scour the room for pieces we can fashion into makeshift design to build a couple of these unique lightsabers.
I don’t know what you should do if you cannot… I have to scour my family’s holocron. particular design of the saber’s lens reminded me of something I had see before… Yishu was very clear there are eight known variating colors of this saber… and that getting a black saber was a mark of incompetence… but every fiber of my being tells me there is a 9th true variation.”

Today was truly turning into one of those days. A cavern that existed outside the universe, and yet inside of it. Droids that knew things thought lost, who then disappeared as if they became one with The Force. Now he and another held knowledge of the Darksaber and were trapped. Panno felt like panicking. If he came out of this cave and 70 years had passed he might just have to kill Monte out of spite.
Darn he really couldnt have stuck around until I could ask him how to get out...
He assumed this was part of the quest were only the worthy can get what they desire. If they can pull themselves from this stone grave they will know something that could give them a step above the rest of the galaxy.
I have to confess, you are no doubt more skilled in Technometry than me. I focus more on metal working, but I will do what I can to help us get out of here.
Leaving Monte to do his thing with the family holocron Panno walked around the hall his mind both there and not. He was stepped in the force looking for objects that stood out. In truth he had only used this once before. He was much more adept at shatterpoint, which helped him find the weaknesses when forging armour. They were rather related, but instead of looking for ways to unravel the galaxy he looked for parts he could use to make a lighsaber.
You know Monte, this would have been easier had neither of us given up our lightsabers right?
As he spoke he walked up and took one of the torches that adorned the wall. The interior was hollow, and using his crushgaunt on his left hand he ripped off the part that held the flame. Turning it over it appeared longer than needed (half a meter), and would make a crude hilt.

“The irony is not lost upon me. however, I believe you are approaching this from a mouse in a cage surrounded by rats as opposed to a child trying to free a piece of candy stuck inside a puzzle box.”
as i said these words i wondered if Panno was truly following along… and i silently wished that would not have to strike down troops assigned to me by the council. If this was truly “forbidden” knowledge… then there were two feasible conclusions. the first being the council believed that my inquiry to this saber may be a sign i would be turning into an enemy of the order, the other being that this was a test to make sure that the knowledge of the dark saber would not fall into hands of an ill-equipped Jedi… or Craftsmen in Panno’s case.
Delving into the knowledge of the holocron, the gate keeper morphed from my own likeness to that of my fore-bearers until i came to a man who introduced himself to be the Last Tuhlute to not be in the lineage of the throne of Instramta. the man was an Artificer, like myself who focused on swords of Instramtan tradition. his blades were rumored to split a blaster shot in half and not be cut by a lightsaber. searching through what he left inside the holocron, i found a chart of lamination techniques to which the memory of the Darksaber’s lens fit.
“Panno, i was right, the Darksaber’s lens is based on instramtan sword lamination techniques. the Darksaber’s lens was a failed Honsanmai., and there IS a 9th form. “
i closed my eyes and placed my left hand to the ground, reaching through the force to connect with technology in the room. feeling familiar forces i pulled back and began to instruct Panno
“The chandelier above needs to come down… be carful though, i need the crystals to forge the lenses. behind the tapestries should be plasma batteries. you get those… i will see if i can turn the pedestal in this alcove into a makeshift crystal forge so we might seal these crystals.”
While Panno grabbed the supplies i indeed attempted to convert the pedestal into a forge… it only required minor jiggery-pokery to do so… for the remaining time i attempted to find which of my gadgets tucked in my hand would allow me to cut down the crystals into the appropriate size… finding that it was in the middle finger and safety mean it could be the only finger extended.

He kept his comment to himself, this was no time for bickering. In his experience if things had a chance to get worse, they usually did. So those rats as Monte put it, would probably turn out to be cyberneticlly enhances force suing ninja rats.
Be prepared in case I lose control of the chandelier.
With that he closed his eyes and raised both his hands, this was all about the delicacies of the force. Reaching out with his mind he felt the cold metal holding it up, the crystal both real and fake ones. Apparently these Architects were willing to go some of the way but not all. Snapping the chain the crystal chandelier fell several feet before the Imperial Knight was able to slow its descent without damaging any of the crystals. Dropping it in front of Monte his eyes opened.
At least a dozen of those crystals were replaced, synthetically made and not natural. Im not sure which you would prefer but have at em.
Before walking away to the tapestries he reached into his belt and withdrew 3 power crystals plus the one on his right wrist.
In case what I bring you isnt enough.
Normally those could power up the miniature shield generator on his wrist for an hour at a time. However it was small, and this was no small undertaking. Those would drain no doubt, but hopefully it would be enough to get them out of here.
Since we are making a makeshift lightsaber I assume youll need one for the power source right? Something like the original sabers used Tython back in the day.
Walking over to the aforementioned tapestries he looked at them much a scholar would. However instead of trying to figure out the meaning behind each his goal was to see if there was any way of taking it off that would end badly. Thus far, excluding the whole trapped in a tomb thing things had been going very well. To well. After a minute of staring he figured he should just go for it. Picking up one side, then the other he lifted expected to be shocked or worse. When nothing happened he took the plasma battery from behind the picture, wondering what it was powering.

“The synthetic ones are what i need… if what I know, and what i learned to be true, creating these sabers will take crystals of the three archetypes of Synthetics…. I would recommend if you would turn away for this next part… i don’t have the tools to adjust the cutting beam.”
As i said that, i appeared to go into a stance standing straight up… what was happening in reality was that instead of focusing on the organic portion of my body, my spirit was contained within the neural upgrades turning me into a emotional super computer.
The first step was taking the Lamination process from the chart, converting it into a 3D model, and then figuring how the pieces and parts fit together. That took moments thanks to the neural processors and my own natural genius.
the second step was programming this sequence into a cutting program so that i could sand away the extraneous crystal ensuring that the remaining piece would fit together with the other parts. for this, i would require the beam in the middle finger of my left hand, and a special device that would levitate and adjust the gem as i made the cut. this took longer This portion took longer since i was doing each piece individually, plus i had to be careful to sand, not cut the crystal so that the light inside would remain pure and could become brighter when combined once more into a single crystal.
the problem was, although i had more than the correct number of right pieces to create two perfect lenses, i did not know how to make the correct recipe to create them… i set one synthetic aside so that i would have a spare if either of the lenses was not correctly made… but the remaining crystals i assigned different roles so that hopefully one of the two blades would have the correct combination.
as the parts were formed into their correct parts, they were placed into two piles according to which lens they would help form. when each piece was ready, i returned to “consciousness” to grab some things from my satchel for the next step.
From the Satchel i grabbed: two pair of eye protection and a jar of multicolored dust. I tossed a pair to Panno before i put my own set on. then dumping the contents of the jar into the basin of the makeshift furnace, i centered myself as the dust… shards of other lightsaber crystals i refined for exact purposes, ignited into a rainbow flame.
not turning from my work, i explained to Panno that the dust was shavings from old crystals that still had spark of ashla within them. these shavings could convert into a unique matter bearing flame that i could use to fuse materials in some of the work that i did, that could be categorized by an outsider as ‘alchemy’.
as the flame licked the crystal shards, the borders sealed together into a single crystal. no pocket of air to be found. and as I applied two extra coats of the fire outside to ensure the pieces could not come apart, the harmony of the shards became a single melody, signifying that the crystal shards in each lens had melded into one crystal.
As i placed the completed crystals on the sides of the pedestal i went to seat myself on the stairs, the fire still burning in the makeshift furnace. i felt weary from the ordeal… but then again these were techniques that i knew… not panno. taking a deep breath in I relaxed against that stairs.
“The fire is tuned to my aura it shall extinguish itself when i have relaxed and am no longer possessive over the flame… when it does so take one of the crystals and tune it to yourself… we shall find out whether either of the crystals was correctly combined.”
one of the crystals WAS correctly made, and when we ignited our sabers we would find out whose blade was tuned to their Aura… and whose blade was black. in the pit of my heart from my training with crystals, i had a strong hunch which one would reveal the black blade. but i let Panno choose ahead of me.

Panno settled in for a rare treat. He was allowed to watch a true master in his own element. Leaning on a wall as he watched, the Imperial Knight wondered what it would be like if Monte was in a place he called a workshop. This was makeshift work at best and it was still spectacular. He couldn't help but wonder if the middle finger also acted as a big "fuck you" to the Architect.
Snatching the pair of goggles out of the air he did not put them on right away. Everything up to this point had been easy to watch. He wasnt sure why he would need them. Then the fire started. The bright flame blinded him as he looked into it. Despite putting the eye protection on it took until the end of the explanation for him to get it back. He would need to remember this for later, on the off chance he ever carried lightsaber shards in the future.
Are crystals only fit to be in a saber capable of that? I must confess I have never seen anything like that. It was... well it was amazing.
Unlike Monte he did not know which would work, if either. He was used to seeing crystals created in a large machine and these looked nothing like those. Especially before they had been created. Once the flames died down Panno reached in and picked out one of the crystals.
Using the force he took apart more of his right gauntlet, wires, springs and other mechanical parts floated around him, as did everything else he needed to create a working blade. Sure he could do this by hand, as hundred of thousands of Force users had done since the start of time. This however was not the time for that. This was the time to get things done. This wasnt a test.
Tell me if you see me making a mistake. Its been over 15 years since I have had to make one of these from scratch, and even then I had all the necessary pieces and then some.
Sitting down he immersed himself in the Force. Pouring himself both to the job and the crystal Monte had forged he laboured to create a working saber, fitting many of the smaller pieces into place outside before they went into the "hilt". The tensest moment, if one can be tense while in a deep meditative state; was when he attached the power source to the wires and gizmos that would allow it to fire on. The wires had started to overheat as they were used to having less of a strain, but they held. Fitting in the focusing lens Monte had made his eyes opened up. The irises still a light shade of blue.
Here goes nothing.
Activating it, nothing happened for a second. Then the hilt started to shake and a blade emerged slowly. Black. Somewhere somehow this one had a fault in it, however small.
Not bad considering what you had to work with eh?
The hilt itself was nearly twice the size of an average one nearly half a meter, but the blade itself seemed to suck up all light. Its outline white, as if that was the light being sucked in it appeared stable for the moment but he did not want to push his luck and turned it off.

“I wouldn’t be so quick on that consider this a failure… my process of Art is as much a science as it is a mental supernova”
and then something i truly did not expect to happen. as the fire went out i felt more than a breeze of power return to my fingertips. i felt supercharged… and i chose to do something with it.
laying a bite not hard to break skin on each finger of my organic left hand i focused the energy to the fingertips. slamming the hand against the wall my force presence jutted out finding each mechanical component in the walls that could be combined into a lightsaber. Including the parts that Panno had placed before me i felt the pieces swirl in my mind and create a saber. when i knew i had enough i balled my fist and ripped it away and each piece flew to the center of the chamber. i stood and walked to the podium
“I knew two things as fact. the first, I did not know what the proper combination was for this saber, the latter, that i had enough pieces for two tries. assuming that each piece in this design could not touch another pice of the same type, that left me with few options. and my mind decided it more prudent to fail and learn two incorrect combinations, than to be successful and not know why.”
my left hand still moving pieces into position my right hand reached up and tossed the other test crystal into the combination. as the Crystal aligned with the saber, the saber collapsed upon itself, causing the hilt to combine and be born. the finished product looked very similar to the sabers i forbearer made than to what Panno had made. It was still not the perfect hilt though.
“that is why we are taught to honor those that fail and are inspired by their failure.”
the saber drops vertically into my hand as i take a stance like the hero on the original star wars posters… i tentatively tap the ignition causing a pulse of rainbow light. smiling i bring the saber down completing the “Makahsi salute” and igniting the blade to a brilliant golden color.

Pannos jaw actually dropped, he had seen some amazing sights in the galaxy regarding the force. This however was at the top of his list. His skill in the force was nothing compared to this, at least in this area.
That reminds me of a story I heard of a master craftsman back in the day. The man tried and failed nearly 2,000 times to develop a better way to heat a fire beyond bellows and hot coals. And when asked about it, he said "I didn't fail; I found out 2,000 ways how not to heat a fire," but he only needed one way to make it work. Except this time there are 9 ways... but you get the point yeah?
Nodding his head he smiled, however one giant problem still remained.
You do know that we are still locked in here though yeah? Its nice to know you can make these but what if we cant get out?
Sorry to be Johnny Raincloud, but its true. Pannos own cheap imitation of a blade, and Diamontes excellent nearly perfect lightsaber might not be able to help them out if the Architect did not allow it.

I nodded
“i heard that, however i also heard that the same craftsman was a notorious plagiarist of others ideas. but yes, i get the point.”
i shook my head
“approach this from a trial… not a trap. If this was a trap, it is not a well played one. they left two geniuses in a room with all the raw material to build lightsabers. … or plasma cannons. if this was a trap they would have either gassed us by now to make sure we would be unconscious by now. or the troops would have come in, guns blazing…. here.”
I extinguished my saber and tossed the hilt to panno, expecting him to figure out what i was doing and do the same.
“While my mind is great, i must admit that my skill in combat is equivalently terrible. that sword is best in your hands while we fight our way out. as for how… i would suspect the glowing red button to the right of the door would open the mechanism.”
