Csilla, the homeworld of the Chiss, was a cold world of glaciers and snowy wastes located deep within Chiss Space, and served as the capital of the Chiss Ascendancy.

Two stealthed Ardent Fast frigates sat in an erratic orbit over Csilla. When you read stealthed, don't think invisible, so much as camouflaged. They had been modified with a specially polarized ray shield that trapped most of the ship's energy emissions, as well as most of the light and other radiation that might normally be reflected off the ship's hull. Unfortunately, these shields did nothing to stop incoming radiation, including lasers, which left the ship vulnerable to attack if found. A side effect of the shield was that the ships were forced to rely entirely on passive sensors, or information relayed from sensor buoys. Of which there were two in system, both orbiting the sun on paths out beyond Csilla's own orbit. There used to be more, but most have fallen into disrepair, been stolen, and/or destroyed; which played conveniently into Renan's hopes that the system would appear empty to anyone who happened to stumble upon it. The Ardents where here to serve in the eventuality that someone would come to Csilla that would not be fooled by appearances alone.

The system still lay oddly empty, though there was now an authorized path to and from the system for Chiss merchants to follow, though they were strongly encouraged to move in convoys when entering and leaving this system in particular. The prescribed route was not easy to find, but was easy enough to follow. A new Chiss-SD orbited the system's star, ready to respond to any threats to the system. The two ardent-class frigates had long since been re-tasked and sent off on missions throughout the ascendancy, mostly just stabilizing hyper-routes between the Ascendancy's many worlds.
As time wore on, the Ascendancy slowly recovered from it's devastating civil war. While things still weren't back to where they used to be, they were steadily growing closer to that point and even showing signs of surpassing the former glories of the Ascendancy. Renan now sought to strengthen the ascendancy as a whole and seeing to the necessary restructuring of its governing body.

Csilla is once again a functioning capital for the Chiss Ascendancy. The new ruling council has not yet been selected, though many have put forth their claims to a seat on the council. The primary deciding factor that the selections comity is looking for is competence, followed by other useful skills, heredity is strangley absent from the selection process, which leaves many chiss uneasy about the new government, though none want to start a new civil war, so they watch and wait hoping that things will sort themselves out sooner rather than later.

The council had finally been selected. It consisted of eighteen of the best and the brightest to be found in the Chiss Ascendancy. The council had reviewed the work Renan had done to lay out a fair governing system for the Ascendancy, and while they tweaked the system to better fit their various fields of expertise, and to clarify a few of the vague points in the policy, they largely left it as it was. Much of his work was grandfathered in, because of his dedication to the Chiss people and his eye for the long term. Oddly, he was not a council member, nor was he involved in the governance of any significant portion of the ascendancy. Instead he was going out into the "known" galaxy, where he planned to inspect and evaluate the governing systems in power. This was more a private project than any official espionage, so it would not be the most detailed of surveys, but what he did find would be made available to the council.
For this trip Renan had been furnished with K'elvit't an Anabassica-class Cruiser. For this trip, Renan would be traveling with two body guards, one clerical assistant, and six teams of four Asrallka. The Asrallka, would be deploying to various foreign capitals where they would begin their work, occasionally sending reports back to Csilla, through very secure and convoluted channels. Their mission was separate form Renan's, though he was aware of it. The k'elvit't sat in orbit, taking on the last of it's provisions for the trip. It would be leaving within the month, and Renan was enjoying a few weeks vacation, after having almost single-handedly rebuilt the Ascendancy over the last few decades.

The K'elvit't was ready and fully stocked, the passengers were all aboard, and Renan was eager to be underway. The captain, a young chiss of considerable skill, gave orders to disengage the dock and to fire manoeuvring thrusters. Once the K'elvit't was a safe distance from the docks, the primary drive was engaged and the vessel moved to the edge of the gravity shadow cast by Csilla. From there the ships navigator set a course for the known galaxy. What they would find, well, that was anyone's best guess. As far as they knew the Yuuzhan Vong might have finally subdued the known galaxy, which would make this a very short trip indeed. A silent dread settled over the crew, as the ship's hyperdrive was engaged and it left everything they knew very far behind them.

The first reports begin filtering in from Asrallka team Bsotim'i based on the market world of Dressel. The reports often generated more questions than answers, but as time progressed, and Renan's official report arrived, the puzzle began to peice it's self together and Csilla's ruling council began to gain a basic understanding of the known-galaxies current state.

The ice world that lingered within this system was the home of the blue-skinned Chiss humanoids and was known as the capital of the isolationist, but technologically advanced Chiss Ascendancy. Csilla, a home of glaciers and ice, frozen wastelands and yet was the center of a great galactic power within the Unknown Region. Despite such a rigid world, this part of the galaxy, known as Chiss Space, was probably one of the few civilized portions of the Unknown Region close to the known galaxy. And today, it would become the centerpiece and conclusion of a long and enduring campaign. Upon this day, the Ascendancy would fall...
Chiss Space was invaded shortly after the conclusion of the Battle for Nirauan and the re-garrison of Illum by the First Order, a most recent and foremost Imperial faction within the known galaxy. Formed out the remnants of the now dissolved Galactic Empire and united under the charisma of their Supreme Commander, the First Order militarized quickly within Imperial Space and began rapid expansion. From their capital territories in Imperial Space, First Order fleets and armies surged forth, expanding east, west and south. Many lawless systems, left to fend for themselves after the fall of the Republic, were brought under the firm and iron-grip of the militant faction. Csilla, despite not being a lawless system, was the unknown target of the Imperial's Unknown Region Campaign.
The blitz surged from systems that neighbored the Unknown Region and struck southward immediately. Nirauan, Illum as well as other neighboring systems fell under the influence and the armed forces of the First Order. Waves of warships, augmented by the newly conceived Resurgent-class Star Destroyers, laid waste to defiant worlds as Stormtroopers brought populations under their firm control and garrisoned lonely systems in order to control these newly conquered sectors. Csilla was the crown jewel of the campaign, laid out carefully by Nicademus and his staff of seasoned officers. Chiss Space would be invaded and, at first, the well-trained Chiss Expeditionary Defense Force held their own against the First Order's forces. Yet it was the sheer momentum of victory and their vast resources that allowed the Imperials to grind down their firm opposition and force them to cave in under pressure. World after world of the Ascendancy fell to the power of their Imperial invaders. There were some planets, however, that willingly submitted to the military rule while others still resisted even as the Supreme Commander moved a bulk of the Imperial Navy for Csilla.
The Ascendancy had plenty of time to prepare for this titanic showdown with their Imperial adversaries. Even as the first Star Destroyers entered the space over Csilla, all hell would break loose as the Chiss opened fire upon the encroaching Imperials. It was only a matter on if the patriotic fervor and discipline of the Chiss could win the day and turn the tide or would the mighty war machine of the First Order bring the Ascendancy to its knees... All bets were in the hands of the First Order, who had been met with nothing but success after success. Their momentum and their seasoned troops would be the major factors in their victory, as well as the trained leadership of their warships and units.
Clouds of Chiss Star Destroyers, lines of frigates and crusiers, circled the planet of Csilla as the titanic struggle began. Nicademus would enter the battle, on the bridge of the Praetorian alongside additional reinforcements from a neighboring system. Alarms immediately went off as his vessel barely missed the smoldering hulk of another Imperial-class Star Destroyer. In fact, the space they had exited hyperspace from was littered with various space hulks, both Imperial and Chiss. The initial wave had met heavy resistance from the Chiss Expeditionary Defense Fleet, forcing the Supreme Commander to order a full-scale invasion upon Csilla. Fleet Admiral Gavin of the First Order's Vanguard Fleet was dead by the time they arrived; his flagship torn apart by the debris of a Star Destroyer... forcing command upon Commodore Vance, who took control of the Vanguard Fleet, from his own vessel, a Gladiator-class Star Destroyer. Reinforcements were being poured in by the Supreme Commander's orders; even a small flotilla of recently built Resurgent-class Star Destroyers had joined the fight and were tearing apart oncoming Chiss craft.
Nicademus reviewed the battle, as he was recently arrived with a fresh wave of warships. Reports flowed in from various command vessels and a full display of the unfolding battle was given to the Supreme Commander through his bridge's holomap. It was utter chaos, even if one looked out the viewport. A distant flash reflected off of the Imperial's face as he looked up, seeing a Star Destroyer among the fleet's right flank, implode from the pressure of oncoming Chiss salvos. The Imperial ordered his staff to get him every report and bring him up to speed on the situation. His warships and crew needed his leadership more than ever now. In order to perform his duties, Nicademus needed to be informed of the various Imperial and opposition's positions, composition, damage reports and oncoming reinforcements. Csilla would be the most gruesome battle of this campaign... and it would be a hard fought victory for the First Order.

Sir, we are about to exit hyperspace, last sensor scans indicated heavy Chiss resistance in orbit...
Divert power to the forward shields, prep the gun teams and get those TIE's ready for immediate deployment...
Right away. Orders were quickly spread down the chain of command, with the gun crews quickly taking their marks, whilst TIE pilots began boarding their craft, and boarding crews assembled in their designated areas. The Resurgence dropped forth from hyperspace a few moments later, the ship and its crew looking equally as battle tested as one another, as its entry point dropped them within the thick of a small chiss flotila. But its entrance was by no means a quiet one, with the bow of the Resurgence ramming through the middle of a Nuruodo-class Broadside Frigate, shearing the smaller craft in half before gun crews started acquiring targets on various ships and firing. Meanwhile, The TIE/fo and TIE/sf starfighter wings started deploying out of the Starboart and Port hangar entrances, moving to engage the Chiss clawcraft.
Meanwhile, Harnan sat firmly ensconced upon his throne on the bridge of the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, which surved as the mobile command center of the Knights of Ren, several of whom were aboard with him. As he opened a comm line to those not on the bridge, his gaze lingered upon Illaria as she stood at the viewport, this battle serving as the first time they had been in the same location since Nirauan, and even then it had been the briefest of time spent passing one another by We've arrived to Csilla, prepare for battle, we have heavy fleet resistance. All boarding parties are to deploy immediately...

Our reinforcements from the Knights of Ren have appeared, Supreme Commander. Also, word from the Empire of the Hand's fleet... first wave ETA is three hours from now, Sir.
Excellent. Send word to the Resurgence; have them command the remainder of the Vanguard Fleet and the right flank. They need the firepower of the Resurgence to continue their advance upon Chiss forces.
The order was sent to the Resurgence moments later; the Supreme Commander requesting that the Knights of Ren take command of their right flank with the absence of Fleet Admiral Gavin. They are to coordinate with Commodore Vance, who had taken command after the death of Gavin. From there, Nicademus would order his own contingent to make for the center flank, ordering a spearhead formation to punch through the screen of Chiss destroyers that stood in the way of the Imperial advance.
It was to go a titanic battle... one for the history books to come; the assimilation or the subjugation of the Chiss Ascendancy. Their fate was undetermined at this time as Nicademus focused more on the battle at hand. He had contemplated what would happen once Chiss Space was thoroughly under the thumb of the First Order's militant regime. The Empire of the Hand's soldiers had been assimilated; granted rank and new designations. First Order equipment was granted to them, upgrading their appearance and weaponry to better suit their role in this ongoing campaign.
At first, there was some tension between the First Order's core group and the newcomers to their ranks, yet the elevation of several key commanders from among the Hand's soldiery helped ease those tensions. Their tacticians were used on the bridges of various ships while even these new units were given campaign experience on the ground alongside the First Order's longer standing veterans and recruits. Nicademus sought to ensure these new soldiers and his own core group were united in their desire to serve the First Order. He did not wish for his newcomers to feel like cannon fodder nor subjugated warriors, but rather to make it seem like nothing changed; save the banner they served under. High Command elevated several personnel while ensuring others, depending upon their career with the Hand, were given new ranks or given a rank equivalent to their old one in the First Order's hierarchy. Their fleets joined alongside the First Order's armada as it plunged headfirst into Chiss Space. They served in the vanguard and the rear, as reinforcements and marines... the Supreme Commander sought to ensure that the Hand's soldiers felt that they were wanted and appreciated. This would help in ensuring their loyalty in the future to come.
The Supreme Commander turned once more to the unfolding battle as he moved to his command chair, taking a seat immediately. Officers rushed back and forth across the bridge, preparing for the first contact with the approaching battle line of Chiss warships. With a gesture of his hand, the Praetorian opened fire with its heavy turbolasers, smashing into the closest Chiss Destroyer. The unrelenting barrage caused its shields to buckle and become strained. TIE Wings launched from their respective ships and engaged Chiss Clawcraft and began strafing nearby warships. For now, the Supreme Commander leaned back in his chair, watching the battle unfold around him...

Csilla.
Homeworld of the Chiss. The seat of the Ascendancy, its very foundation. Beautiful, yet frigid. The glacier-ridden planet glowed a brilliant blue against the darkened backdrop of space, now painted scarlet with the amount of enemy forces that sought to counter the might of the First Order war machine on its doorstep. If they would only kneel…
It had started long before the Resurgence had even dropped out of hyperspace. The uneasiness. The discomfort. The agitation. The feeling that something dark was encroaching upon her very being. Illaria could not yet pinpoint the source of her tension. It left her muscles coiled and taut, as if she were about to explode into action at any given moment. The Shapeshifter was troubled, withdrawn as she stood at the viewport chewing on her lower lip. Crossing her arms over her chest, she brings a hand up to rub against the side of her face, an uneasy quietness hanging about her countenance.
The moment they reverted to real space, Illaria understood everything. This was the source of her distress. Thoughts scatter as if there is an electrical storm raging across the surface of her brain. Too many short-circuits to make sense of things anymore. She wanted to pace across the length of the viewport like a caged Nexu, but the Master had taught her better control than that. As always, she stashed away the nervous energy for later use, for productive use. Pacing was never useful to anyone. Inhaling deeply, she grasps at some semblance of control as she absentmindedly taps her fingers against her golden cheek. The Shapeshifter was never certain whether she, amongst the whole of the Knights of Ren, felt things on a much deeper level than the others – was affected to a greater extent than they – or if she merely lacked the ability to allow herself to become numb to the world around her or was unable to even just summon the composure to hide her misgivings. A third option occurred to her then. Perhaps she was just defective?
It was as if the area surrounding Csilla had been requisitioned for a starship graveyard. Still smoldering hulks of ships Illaria could not even begin to identify drifted by the transparisteel viewport as she stood there solemnly. “So….this all looks…” She pauses a moment as her eyes dart this way and that, following the trails of metallic debris as it floats by them. “..bad..” Off in the distance, her silver eyes linger upon a Star Destroyer taking heavy fire from the Chiss forces. She shifts uneasily as it suddenly appears to pop like a bloated Hutt. Unconsciously, she steps back a bit from the viewport. Dread creeps down her spine like a void spider, her stomach suddenly sinking as if it were full of durasteel. The answer seemed to dangle just out of her grasp.
Briefly, Illaria's thoughts drift to Nicademus, her eyes scanning the battlefield and she thinks she can just barely make out the outline of the Praetorian just off the Resurgence's portside. She gazes upon the starship a moment longer as its weapons come online and the gunnery techs brilliantly demolish the nearest Chiss Destroyer. There it is. The Destroyer's shields buckle and like a wave washing over her on the Gold Beaches of Corellia, the cold numbness prickles across every inch of her body as several thousand lives suddenly disappear into the void of space. It cut like a thousand tiny daggers as the sensation swept across her nerve endings. It was an unnatural cold of the likes that made her recoil the second she came into contact with it it. It was the kind of coldness that robbed her body of every last bit of warmth and sent her mind reeling in chaos. Then there was silence.
“Coming…here..” Illaria turns her head to look over her shoulder as she feels the weight of Harnan’s gaze upon her. Her head tilts slightly to the side as she regards him with a look of curiosity. “Good idea or bad idea?” She inquires in an apprehensive tone, her voice soft as her fingers tap her cheek in time with a music to which only she knows the rhythm.

Harnan had been uncertain how Illaria was going to react to her first naval battle, especially one on this scale with ships of all sorts of classifications clashing with one another and trading shots across the void of space. Even as he sat there watching her, dozens of craft were combusting under the weight of turbolaser fire on both sides, although the Imperials were still managing to maintain some semblance of an advantage over the Chiss defence forces. He almost wanted to laugh as she made the most obvious statement about this situation, but he stopped himself, sensing her distress at everything she was feeling, most likely for the first time on such a grand scale. He removed his helmet and placed it upon the arm of his throne, before rising to his feet as Illaria scanned the assembled ships, knowing that she was looking to make sure the Praetorian was intact. Even if he still bore something of a grudge for Nicademus after everything that happened, he had at least made some peace with himself in the previous weeks of campainging through the Unknown Regions with regards to the man.
But even as he sensed her brief relief at seeing the Supreme Commander's ship was alright, she recoiled several moments later as the Praetorian's target was blasted from existence. Where Illaria felt too much, Harnan felt nothing, his past life with the Knights of Zakuul and years of imprisonment having dulled his senses against such mass suffering and extermination of life. But yet, he was still able to acutely sense Illaria's feelings as she turned to look at him, and asked the one question that broke through his fortified exterior and drove deep within him. He made his way across the bridge, drawn to her by a deep sense of protection, as he debated with himself what the answer to her question was. He really had landed himself in this situation quite badly, and where once everything had been soo simple, it had all quickly become quite complicated by everything that had happened.
He sighs heavily as he stops behind her, his gaze lingering upon the fleet battle before them as he rests his hands upon her shoulders, giving them a gentle rub, before he extended his presence in the force around her, enshrouding her in a protective bubble. His grip on her soon shifted as he drew her into his embrace, his arms wrapping around her upper torso, as he shifted his gaze back down to meet hers. It had been a mistake to not take her to any fleet battles before this one, so that she might have had a chance to prepare herself for all of this, but at the same time, it was better to get this over and done with now that they were here. There was no backing out now, and he would have to do his best to ensure her focus was elsewhere and reassure her, even if he wasn't all that certain himself Good idea... If only to bring order to those who desperately seek it...
Sir, The Praetorian is raising us on the comms. We've got orders to take command of the remnants of the Vanguard Fleet. Commodore Vance is awaiting orders... Harnan didn't move an inch, moving only if Illaria chose to rebuke him, as he looked back out at the battle before them, with a small holoprojection appearing on the viewport in front of him listing what ships were being given to their command. With the firepower of the Resurgence now added to the Vanguard Fleet's strength, they would be able to hold and potentially push their advantage on the right flank, as another report came up, detailing what ships the enemy had nearby. Listed amongst them, was an Ascendancy-class Star Destroyer, which was the largest ship on the right flank, and was likely serving as the flag ship of the forces near them Captain, I want our focus to be on that Ascendancy-class Star Destroyer, blast anything between us and it, we're going to go and say hi... What do you say Lady Ren? Up for a little stroll?

Post by Azria Delvardus on Feb 6, 2016 21:57:24 GMT -8
Azria Delvardus, First Commissar of the First Order Special Training Corps, strode through the bustling hallways of the Praetorian. Alarm klaxons blared, echoing off the walls of the ship and penetrating their depths to rouse any off-duty crewmembers that had not already reported to their stations. The emergency siren indicated that the Imperial-class Star Destroyer had finally entered the battlefield and drew attention to the ongoing combat with the aid of both the flashing lights and blaring warning sound.
The Imperial was dressed befitting her rank, donning a charcoal gray officer’s uniform comprised of a starchily pressed long-sleeved jacket and the more traditional breeches. Officer’s buckle polished with precision, her regulation black leather boots were equally spotless. Several rank cylinders were clipped within their small pockets on her breast with a matching rank insignia armband stitched into the sleeve of the officer’s greatcoat that was currently draped over her arm. Running black gloved fingers over her head to ensure her red hair was as it should be, she pulls on a crested command cap, the First Order insignia proudly displayed. One of the lower ranking officers, from her division, that trailed in her wake quickened his pace as she moved to put on her greatcoat. Swiftly taking the coat from her grasp, he held it out as she slipped her arms into the sleeves before helping to settle it about her shoulders. Waving off any further assistance, the Imperial folds the collar and lapels before hastening toward the main hangar bay, the tails of her greatcoat billowing out behind her – appearance immaculate in her military uniform.
With each stride, Azria’s mind became clearer and more resolute as she built up herself inside her head and constructed the compelling words she knew her forces needed to hear. Steeling herself, the Imperial resolved to think only of her future from here on in. The future that she would build according to her own designs, mould to perfection, and direct to achieve ultimate control. Then, with each following stride, she felt more in charge, in command of her own mind and body. Without breaking stride, she continued on down the hall as a skittish Rebaxan Columi MSE-series mouse droid swerved out of her way and around her boots, giving her a wide berth in passing. Holding herself with pride, she strode through the command center of the Praetorian’s main hangar bay before exiting out the other side and heading down onto the floor of the hangar deck itself.
Several squadrons’ worth of Special Forces pilots, denoted by the two crimson stripes running down each side of their helmets, quickly assembled and stood at attention as the First Commissar made her way over to the group. Walking out in front of the pilots, all eyes rested on Azria as she came to a stop before them, flanked by the senior officers of her division. Silent and composed, her azure eyes swept across those assembled as if she were attempting to ascertain who was a liable ally and who was a traitor. She governed her units with an iron fist, yet commanded the respect of every soldier. Everything about her screamed discipline, right down to the way she ordered her own thoughts and presented herself to others. Quite suddenly, her posture stiffened as she clasped her hands behind her back and began to speak – her words simultaneously broadcasting on an encrypted First Order comm channel for those under her watch, not currently present.
“Soldiers of the First Order, the time has finally come for you to do your part to support our noble cause. It is your duty to impart stability upon the galactic citizenry. To bring law to lawless systems. And to instill order across all reaches of the galaxy. This is your call to arms.” Azria’s gaze wandered across the pilots arrayed in front of her. “The Empire of the Hand opposed us on Nirauan. We responded by removing the plague that sickened their ranks, casting out disorder and anarchy. Replacing these with order and discipline. Now…the Chiss Ascendancy seeks to halt our righteous crusade for which you have laid the foundation, upon which you have built the might of the First Order, to which you have dedicated and risked your lives!” Her voice resonated with a tone of confident authority as she spoke with an unbridled enthusiasm. The First Commissar lowered her voice as she continued, solemnly. “There will never be a more suitable moment to seize our chance to tip the scales of justice in the proper direction and ensure they remain there for all eternity. Right now, I am offering you..” Her eyes began scanning the pilots again, making eye contact with each of them in turn, as if she is speaking to them on an individual level. “..the chance to liberate those that have become lost in a galaxy mired by corruption and depravity, to be a warrior of the First Order and use this just power, that our Supreme Commander has seen fit to confer upon you, to put an end to the exploitation of the galactic citizenry and ensure everlasting stability for generations to come.”
Her power over others really was not unique, but in her position, it was extremely beneficial to her ambitions and the motivation of others. It was power born of a command bestowed upon the Imperial by her brother, the Supreme Commander of the First Order. It was a power that she did not always realize she had, yet it was the result of carefully practiced use. She could bend others to her very will and sculpt their own motivations and ambitions to suit her needs. It was executed with such skill that she quite nearly had others believing that they breathed solely because she allowed them to do so.
“Now is the time for you to heed our Supreme Commander’s call and take up arms, give further meaning to your existence!” Azria was little more than a visionary with a dream she and her brothers all shared. Despite the fact that her whole family was bereft of the ability to touch or even sense the Force, the depth of the intelligence lurking in her gaze broadcast the gravity of underestimating what she was capable of. It was clear that the Imperial cared little for what others thought of her; all that she asked of them was that they obey. Her training methods were odd and appeared untested to the naked eye, and in most cases, this was true, but they worked and were rather effective. Because she produced some of the more talented soldiers and pilots within the First Order, her methods were inconsequential as long as she, herself, produced results. “It is time to fight for the only thing that will ever matter…to wrest the galaxy from a path of chaos and corruption! For the First Order!” She finished her patriotic speech with flourish, a small smile ghosting across her scarlet painted lips. Azria had broken these men and women down into nothing and then built them back up into pillars of the First Order. They were loyal without question. The soldiers assembled in front of the First Commissar raised their hands simultaneously in a swift salute before she dismissed them.
Azria swept out of the hangar as the squadrons of pilots began the launch process and headed out to battle. Before long, she found herself entering the command bridge of the Praetorian, dismissing the senior officers from her division as she made her way over to where her brother sat observing the battle in his command chair. Offering a crisp salute, she spoke in a respectful tone, “Supreme Commander. Special Forces are awaiting your orders.” The First Commissar moved to stand off to his side, hands clasped behind her back, watching her officers like a Drayberian hawk as they went about their duties monitoring the pilots.

Nicademus easily heard the familiar footsteps of his sister among the commotion of his command bridge. His eyes did not glance at her for the slightest second as they were focused upon watching the weaponry of the Praetorian hammered the Chiss Destroyer that was closest to their range. Blooms of orange, yellow and red emitted from the surface of the Chiss warship as the heavy turbolasers and concussion missiles slammed against the ship's unprotected shell. The shields were long gone as the First Commissar walked upon the bridge from meeting with the First Order's pilots. The Supreme Commander eventually tore his gaze away from the viewport as a chunk of the Chiss Destroyer was torn apart, allowing himself to briefly look away from the battlefield and focus upon the statement made by his younger sister.
Calmly, the gloved hand of Nicademus reaches over and keys a console on his command chair, bringing up a holoimage of the Chiss flagship that commanded the current battle line his fleet was engaging. From the tenacity and ferociousness of the initial engagement, this battle line most likely held the most veteran and experienced crews that the Ascendancy could throw at the First Order. Take out the flagship and the entire formation would crumble... just as it did for the Empire of the Hand on Nirauan. This time, the Supreme Commander was more than willing to use other personnel instead of his Sith assets.Take a mixed unit of commandos and marines, First Commissar, along with a squad or two of Imperial Knights. We need that flagship removed from the picture... whoever commands that vessel is a seasoned officer and one that must be either eliminated or captured. The removal of this battle line's commanding officer will give us a needed advantage to punch a much needed hole through this perimeter in the Chiss defensive formation. From the initial engagement, the ships we are facing are most likely the best and brightest of the Ascendancy. If we can cut off the head, the body will wither.Nicademus would lean back into his command chair as the order was given. The Praetorian housed a good chunk of units that the First Commissar would need from the Imperial Elite Guard; seasoned shocktroopers, equipped for marine function with heavy weaponry and explosives, alongside a contingent of trained and lethal Storm commandos. The flagship surely had forces equivalent to what the Supreme Commander had brought with him, but the edge that the First Order had over the Ascendancy was the force-sensitive members of the Knights of Ren and the highly disciplined Imperial Knights. Both assets would give the boarding parties an edge over the defending Chiss troops due to the individuality of the Ren and the disciplined nature of the Imperial Knights. Both would surely ensure the day was won...
He turned slightly in his chair as the flash of a great explosion reflected off his face. The Imperial witnessed the destruction of the overpowered and outgunned Chiss Destroyer, turning it into a swarm of smoldering debris. Within seconds, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer's weaponry was turned on several smaller frigates that lingered nearby. After some time examining the battlefield, Nicademus would once more glance over at his sister.Rousing speech you gave to the TIE pilots, Azria. The hangar's overseer keyed me in so I could hear it myself. Make sure its recorded for propaganda purposes; we could use some more material than my usual droning voice over the communication waves throughout our occupied worlds and territories. I would recommend contacting the Resurgence and seeing what they have planned. If they can spare some Knights, coordinate with them.

Azria stood there patiently at her brother’s side, watching the space battle unfold before her very eyes. She did not fidget, she did not pace, or otherwise display her impatience. She stood stock-still, observing the destruction unleashed by the Praetorian upon the unlucky Ascendancy vessels. It was violent and brilliant and…beautiful. At the slightest movement from the Supreme Commander, the Imperial turned her eyes from the viewport, attentive to his actions.
As the holo-projection of the Chiss flagship coalesced into view, Azria’s gaze drifted over to it before wandering back to her brother. She listened intently as he instructed her to remove the flagship from the field of play. That would be challenging, but she relished challenges and welcomed the opportunity to return to the battlefield after Garqi. In response, she simply nodded her head, agreeing with his strategy. It was smart and would serve the same purpose as what he had tasked his Sith assets with doing on Nirauan. Though, she could not say she cared too much for the Sith, she was delighted to know that he had faith enough in her to trust her with an equally important mission.
The First Commissar continued standing there as the Supreme Commander turned slightly to return his gaze to the raging fleet battle taking place. “Thank you, sir. Your praise is not wasted on me. As for a recording, I shall be sure to have one of the officers in my division get that to you.” Turning from the Supreme Commander, she motions with two fingers for one of her officers to approach. As he calmly made his way over, he paused and offered a salute before looking at the First Commissar. “Sir?” Azria returns her hand to her side and folds it at her lower back once more. “Get a comm out to the Resurgence and let them know that we are going to send a boarding party over to the Ascendancy’s flagship. Inquire as to whether they would like to join us. After you have done that, be sure to see that the Supreme Commander receives a copy of today's speech.” The officer snapped off another salute. “Yes, sir.”
The Imperial's azure eyes followed the officer until she saw that he made it over to the comm techs then turned back to her brother. “Supreme Commander, if I may, I would prefer to take a single squad of my best soldiers to board the Ascendancy’s flagship. I have several soldiers in mind that should be more than capable of executing such a mission.”

Illaria watched with a hint of apprehension in her eyes as Harnan walked from his station across the bridge and approached her from behind. She looked up to him as his eyes lingered on the starships clashing for dominance outside the viewport. It almost hurt her, in a very physical sense, to be present here for…all of this. It felt as if she were stuck in a suspended state of agony, the feeling of death and the suffering of those dying constantly present around her. There was no escape. She felt every last one as their presences burned so brightly within the Force, like a pulsar star before it goes dark. Nothing seemed to ease the terrible burden of which sat heavily atop her shoulders.
Because she had never been exposed to this kind of fighting and mass destruction before, Illaria had no defenses against the devastation that constantly bombarded her senses. It was something she suspected would come with time and practice, but it was not going to happen any time soon. She does not even jump as Harnan places his hands on her shoulders for her mind is otherwise occupied, erratically attempting to make sense of every little event taking place around them. She is very nearly oblivious until her best friend extends his presence around her like a fortified wall, providing her with the armour she knows she needs to learn how to develop on her own now – armour that would be capable of shielding her much like Harnan had done for her over the past decade.
As his arms wrap around her, the tension suddenly seems to dissipate from her body. And she is almost certain she can hear the melodic harmony of the Force drifting in the currents around her once more. The Shapeshifter’s silver-touched eyes seem to wander around the command bridge as if she is privy to things present beyond anyone else’s sight. With the quiet order of her mind once more restored, she lets out a slow controlled breath as her muscles loosen and slacken even further. It is as if she is suddenly aware of Harnan’s presence once more as she meets his gaze and brings her hands up to rest on his arms encircling her upper torso, nodding slowly at his response to her question.
“Yes, that makes sense. If this chaos ends in order, then….good idea.” Turning her gaze back out toward the ongoing fleet battle outside the viewport, she regains her composure as she closes her eyes. “I can hear the song again.” She breathes softly, referencing the way the Force manifests itself to her. “Thank you.” As the Captain speaks to Harnan, the Shapeshifter reopens her eyes and languidly turns her head to look over her shoulder at him. Her gaze does not linger as she turns back to investigate what Harnan is doing. Finding nothing that holds her attention, she closes her eyes once more, basking in the stillness. It barely registers with her, when Harnan addresses her. Humming in response, she considers his proposal for a moment before turning her gaze to him. “I think you and I both know that would be a bad idea. And if I know it is a bad idea, then that probably means it is a really, really, really bad idea.” Clenching her jaw, she watches as yet another Chiss starship breaks apart in brilliant flashes of light. She did not want to voice her thoughts aloud, did not want to confront the truth, but she knew she needed to. “I would be nothing but a liability right now and that is unacceptable. I will remain here on the Resurgence to correct this.”

As she thanked him, Harnam smiled for the first time in what seemed like a long while, though in truth it was the first time he had felt happy since they had visited Deralia. But even as he felt contentment with the result of his actions right now, he knew it had been this same contentment which had lost him the battle to begin with. However, was it really so bad to just be content, to be the one able to shield her from that which Nicademus could not, so that she might once more hear that sweet melody which only she could percieve and smile with joy. He had done so for years, and yet, a part of him still wanted more, to take a role he did not think he could ever fill in her life. For now though, she did not need him to be distracted by his warring feelings, she needed him to be the shield against the onslaught, and for now, he would do that.
In that exact moment, that Atlantia walked onto the bridge, clad in her robes and mask, and found Harnan cuddling Illaria close at the front of the bridge. For most, it was merely two friends sharing a moment together, but to Atlantia's devious little mind, it was an embrace shared between star struck lovers, whom cried out desperately for one another, and yet found solace in another. But as the diminuative Ren moved closer to the couple, she could tell that all was not right, as she felt Harnan's presense forming a protective shield around Illaria, providing her the defence she lacked from all this death. But it was the Shapeshifters response to Harnan's question, and the hesitancy with which she made it, that really struck a chord within him, as she walked up to the pair and cuddled Illaria's leg, purring gently against it. Harnan looked down at Atlantia, already well aware of what his protégé was up to and preparing to do.
He knew Illaria was right, as bad judgement as she did have at times, in this at least, she was quite correct. The moment he let his protection around her down, she would be assaulted by it all again, and he could not fight others, whilst fighting to protect her at the same time. He gave Atlantia a stern look, as the woman looked up at him, warning her of the consequences, should she fail in the task she was already preparing to assume. It wasn't until he was certain that Atlantia was enshrouding Illaria, that Harnan withdrew his own protection, letting out something of a dejected sigh, whilst at the same time, knowing this was the right course of action Very well, but I dont want Atlantia to leave your side, understood! He gave Illaria a stern look as he made his demands clear, and he knew she wouldn't try argue the point with him, especially since she seemed well aware of her own inabilities in this situation. Knowing he was likey to get reprimanded for it later, he gave her a kiss on the top of her head, before letting his grip on her go, an invisible void forming between them as he turned away and made his way to his throne, grabbing his helmet from the arm. The battle continued to rage on, as The Resurgence and the Vanguard fleet continued to unload turbolaser and ion cannon fire upon the ships between them and the Ascendancy-class Star Destroyer. Harnan continued on his way off the bridge, leaving Captain Lasek in charge of ensuring they stayed their course, before his comm link beeped, alerting him to a number of communiques.
He couldn't get just five minutes to himself, before the first comm message started playing, which was a speech being made by First Commissar Azria Delvardus to a hangar of TIE pilots, but also to all of the First Order soldiers. And just like that, he was almost immediately brought back from his slight melancholy, and quickly reminded of how badly he wanted to plouge that field of hers. As the speech concluded, Riot Control Troopers throughout the Resurgence drew their Z6 riot control baton's and spun them in the air, in a semi battle cry in support of the First Commisar. Harnan then clicked the second comm message as he walked into the main hangar bay, where troopers were busy readying the Atmospheric Assault Lander's and loading up. This time, it was a message asking if the Knights of Ren wished to participate in boarding the Ascendancy's flagship, a task that they were already working on taking care of. Harnan opened a comm line back as a squad of Riot Control Troopers assembled before him We are already working on it, so do let the First Commissar know she is more than welcome to join us instead... Meanwhile, Atlantia remained at Illaria's side, keeping to the task that she had been assigned by Harnan, as she looked up at the shapeshifter, wondering if perhaps it was better they took The Conquest and went elsewhere. But she was certain that Illaria would object to that idea, and so did not even bother to voice it as she waited for Illaria, before she spoke through her helmet's voice enhancement system You are so adorable sometimes! So, what now?

The Imperial's azure eyes followed the officer until she saw that he made it over to the comm techs then turned back to her brother. “Supreme Commander, if I may, I would prefer to take a single squad of my best soldiers to board the Ascendancy’s flagship. I have several soldiers in mind that should be more than capable of executing such a mission.” Nicademus's gaze would slowly turn to once more gaze upon his sister. It was stern and calculative; something that was normal for Azria as she was his sister. She had seen the disciplined boy grow up into the ambitious teenager and the stern young adult. From there, there was an absent interaction between the two as Nicademus left for greater ambitions and goals. Yet this gaze was much more than what it used to be. Before, Azria had known her brother as the ambitious family member and the trained security personnel of Eriadu. This gaze belonged to a commander of men, a leader of a nation, the gaze of a true Imperial. He was still her brother, but Nicademus was also her superior and benefactor. After all, he had approved of her elevation to First Commissar, not because she was family, but because she was capable. The Imperial always had an eye for those with merit and experience and favored the capable over connections.
The Supreme Commander gently taps the armrest upon his command chair as he thought quietly for a moment. The First Commissar had to have made this suggestion for reasons of course, yet this was the flagship of the Ascendancy's main battle line. There would be more needed than just a single squad of elite Stormtroopers from Azria's personal selection. His gloved hand stops tapping the armrest suddenly before the Imperial speaks.I will accept the suggestion, First Commissar. However, it is still prudent that you take the forces I suggested. After all, this is the main flagship of the defensive line we are facing. The best and most elite of Chiss soldiers will be protecting it. At least the marine forces that I insist on you taking will be good at keeping the defender's attention split between your personal cadre and the advancing marines.

Sequestered within the heart of the Resurgence, Sohei had secluded himself within his personalized meditation chamber in preparation for what was to come. It was in the centre of that cavernous structure the Knight of Ren had found himself kneeling before a barren basalt altar, with his arms coiled at his side. He was nude and bathed in the billowing contrails of nearly a dozen pots of smouldering incense. The aromatic smoke curled across his skin as it rose towards the vent affixed above, pouring into his pores and leaving the former Inquisitor with the cloying scent of cinnamon. His head had hung low, remaining that way as the doors behind him had parted. With the sudden onrush of recycled air bathing his bare flesh, the Knight shuddered in the pleasure such a chill had offered him. A savagely beautiful grin of serpentine proportions had slithered onto his lips, curling them with an almost insidious grace. Sohei had known who had come, and they knew their purpose.
They were his slaves, after all. Indentured Serfs who repaired his armour, and who joined him in his private abode in the moments before adorning the man in his obsidian warplate. Ten flickering souls had glided across the basalt surface, silently padding through the darkness as they approached their master. Without lifting his head to acknowledge them, the Knight of Ren raised his arms - allowing his muscles to slither and shift underneath his taut skin - to beckon them closer. It was time. They stepped further into the darkness, taking hold of their fears and lifting their glittering silvered chalices afore them. Within these polished pewter goblets, sloshed an unguent solution that reeked of spices and purified herbs. Thus, holding their cups before them as if they were asking for salvation from some unholy deity, Sohei had roused himself from the floor and stood with his arms stretched wide. As their master had straightened before them, each of the slaves had eagerly dipped their hands into the viscous liquid and brushed their coated digits along Sohei's seemingly sculpted flesh. Minutes had passed before the indentured serf's were done, and several had emitted a soft moan as their hands had spread the unnatural aphrodisiac across the master's gender.
Lucius was pleased, and they had learned well. The first time he had brought them to his private chamber, they had whined and pleaded; believing him to be some merciless Sith eager to spill their blood to sate the needs of some dark god. He had spent many a night consoling each and every one of them to dissuade them of such foolish notions; all the while seducing them into submitting to his desires, convincing them all that what he wished - was what they wished. Oddly enough, this had coincided with the First Order's opening salvo over Nirauan and had become the sole focus of his attention during such an errant venture. One could only imagine how sarcastically pleased the most militant arm of the Rennite's would be. He didn't care. The master had chosen him to be his favoured son, and that's all that mattered in the end.
When his figure had been bathed in the cloying scents of exotic worlds, Sohei allowed himself to be sculpted by his slaves. Curved hooks danced across his body, before cleansing his flesh of the unguent ritual oils, leaving his tanned flesh as the embodiment of perfection. His smile had remained as his slaves had departed the chamber, leaving the Knight alone with his thoughts. The sensation caressing his skin was a welcome surprise, as it spoke of a courageous heart emboldened by the opiates laced within his bathing solvent. He didn't deny the creature of the pleasure, and let his hands crawl across his bare flesh. Sohei had whispered something, something that had made the indentured slave behind him gasp with aural pleasure. Turning swiftly, so fast that the slave had barely registered that his Master had moved at all, the Knight of Ren found his hands exploring the flesh of this intrepid soul. Passions were on the rise, and Sohei had found himself eagerly giving into the dizzying pirouette of pleasure. There was no greater sensation than of the taking, and Lucius would not be denied. The man before him was like a mirrored version of himself, and he couldn't help but laugh as he brought the man into his embrace. How lucky was he to have found another that resembled him? With his vanity aflame and his mind succumbing to his heart's desire, the Knight of Ren forcibly locked his lips with those of the slave. He wanted more of this man, to feel the way he had felt, and to have himself no longer bound by the burden of this rancorous guilt that weighed on his shoulders.
That was when their momentary passion was abruptly interrupted by the door's parting once more. It wasn't that time yet.
Who dared? The pleasure he yearned for was quickly cast aside as a tidal wave of anger surged through his veins. Bathed in the luminescence of the room behind his meditation chamber, a lone Stormtrooper stood his rifle slung before him. A messenger no doubt, Sohei had mused. His oh so loving brother had relished tormenting him in such trivial ways. Were they not in the middle of a technological revolution? had they not invented such a thing as a communicator?
With his smile instantaneously curling into a venomous snarl, Sohei pushed the half-naked slave away from his stripped figure and stalked through the darkness towards the light. "What?!" The man was shocked. Apparently he hadn't expected to see... this. Sohei didn't care. The others had already filled their heads with lies and slander about what he did in his personal life, who was to believe yet another tale of depravity. "S... Sire!" The Soldier stammered. "Out with it!" Sohei forcibly retorted, his irritation ruining the perfection wrought on his face. "Lord Harnan wished me to relay our arrival within the Csilla sector." It took a moment for the Knight of Ren to reign in the unfurled beast that boiled within his breast, and as he re-established his mental hold upon his emotions - the Stormtrooper leant in, letting his rifle hang by his side. "Did you hear me, sir?" Flicking his eyes upwards, meeting the lifeless gaze of the smiling soldier, Sohei pointedly gestured with his jaw towards the door before dismissing the Stormtrooper. As the alabaster clad warrior had left, Sohei roared with a terrible fury. What else could he do? His emotions, like the smoke before, needed to vent - lest they fester within his heart and eat away at his will like cancer. With his wordless cry of rage resounding within his personal chambers, adjacent to his meditation sphere, the Knight began to laugh. One day, he mused. One day. Level-headed and calm, several moments later, Lucius returns to the embrace of his fortress of solitude and silently summons the rest of his slaves to finish what they had started.
Nearly an hour later, Sohei had removed himself from the shadow drenched interior of his chambers, clad in the accoutrements of war. Fitted and polished plates of ebony were affixed to his form, with only the folded fabric of a silk-spun tabard to deny himself the pleasure of being encased in the armour of midnight. The sleeveless tunic was dyed in the hue of crushed violets, and broken only by the former Inquisitor's heraldry emblazoned in the centre. Painted in brushed gold; Sohei's sigil was that of a palatine eagle with its wings outstretched and it's gaze cast towards the heavens. Had he desired to tell the tale of how he had gotten such a symbol, Lucius would find himself bored within moments of its retelling. The past was of little consequence, and it was doubtful that anyone outside his personal circle would ask him. Thus, free of his gathered slaves, the Knight of Ren stalked through the halls of the Resurgent- Class Star Destroyer as it sailed the obsidian tides of space, killing those that believed themselves Ascendant with every thunderous beat of it's tremendous heart.
It was then that the Knight had found himself within the warship's deployment hangar, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of an army readying itself for war. To no-one's surprise, Sohei was disinterested with the proceedings taking place before his eyes. What point would there be in focusing on the details of what he's already seen a thousand times over? No matter how many times they redesign the Star Destroyer, it's deployment deck had remained marginally similar in every respect. Dull Imperial grey lacquer, mingling with heat-treated obsidian. Where were more artistic minds when the drawing board was present? Blood of the true, this damned warship could use some colour. Letting an exaggerated sigh of boredom slip through his Helmet's vox-grille, the Knight glided across the flight deck looking for something that would catch his eye. Be damned if he boards an enemy vessel in something that lacks style. That was when he saw it. Near the entrance and South of the Main corridor, a sole Atmospheric Assault Lander that had been marked with something he could only assume wasn't regulation.
With his steps bringing him ever closer to the dropship, Sohei's glittered darkly as the image came into view. This... This was exactly what he was looking for! This vessel was marked by the hands of a creative soul, and as the former Inquisitor admired the brushwork - a pair of Stormtroopers had approached him from behind with confusion and concern painting their auras in a disgusting hue. "This is an excellent likeness. I take it you've met the First Commissar in person, then?" He said, coyly. The two Stormtroopers cast a glance each other's way before silently nodding to the intimidating figure that stood before them. "I must commend you both for your work; I never thought the Supreme Commander's own sister would look so good bent over and dressed so scantily. A token of good fortune, I take it?" One of the Troopers had advanced upon the painting and the Knight thereafter, nodding politely as his gauntleted hand struck the hull where her painted posterior had resided. The other had done the same before the pair had drifted away from Sohei's person and boarded the dropship. Lucius smiled. How quaint. I wonder how she would react if she had seen such artwork, thought the Alsakan. Taking a step back to allow nearly two squads of Stormtroopers to bang their armoured fists against the woman's pigmented behind, Sohei couldn't help but chuckle and stare.
Oh, what trouble they would be in if she had ever found out.
