While transmissions were received and transmitted, the Bleeding Orifice held its position near the hyper lane, only drifting so far as to avoid collision with any future vessels entering the system. Within the confines of the organic vessel's cockpit, Shendor listened to the reply from Commodore Paxter Thorne, his scarred brow raising ever so slightly while his mqaaq'it eye implants glowed more intensely than before.
The Ascendency no longer controlled the system? They had considered this possibility, though the Intendant was admittedly surprised, given his own interactions with the blue skinned people. They never struck him as the sort to turn tail and run. That said, if they no longer controlled Ilum, the non-hostility pact known as a the Treaty of Lwhekk was no longer valid, at least so far as this system was concerned. Yet there was some other offered information that did not check with the Praetorite's records.
Salutations, Commodore Paxter Thorne. Now to the meat of it. My name is Shendor of Domain Yin, Prefect of the Praetorite Vong. Once my organization maintained a non-hostility treaty with the Chiss of this sector. I had hoped to reestablish diplomatic ties between our two peoples, but seeing as they are no longer here, that changes things somewhat.
Despite being connected over the villip choir, with the cognition hood still over the Intendant's head, he was still being fed data from the Bleeding Orifice's sensors. That there was a Victory II-class Star Destroyer nearby did not escape his attention, but as it didn't appear to be barreling down on them yet with its turbolaser cannons hot, it didn't seem like something to be worried about. At least not yet.
We have heard of this Emperor Nicademus Delvardus, from an old contact amongst the Imperial Knights who we have provided services for in the past, though the last time our records were updated he was the Emperor of the Imperial Remnant, not the First Order. The Praetorite has been active beyond the borders of this galaxy for the last few years, so I mean no offense when I ask, what is the First Order? Our ignorance is a result of our absence.

Thorne pondered for a brief moment. Now that the commander of the so-called Praetorite Vong mentioned it, he remembered that the Ascendency itself wasn't only gone from Ilum for a long time, but also had witnessed a lot of changes nowadays. Inner turmoil, new movements rising among the Chiss... there were at least some rumors he remembered from few briefings with the High Command. How long had these Yuuzhan Vong remained outside of the galaxy's borders if they remembered the Imperial Remnant under Nicademus before he officially became Emperor of a unified Empire. It seemed like there was a lot to explain.
::We understand your situation, Prefect Shendor::, he continiued diplomatically over another transmission, ::The First Order is the successor of the Galactic Empire and those, that followed after it, following the tradition of the Fel Empire and having reestablished itself to a similiar position in power as once Emperor Palpatine held over the galaxy. Most of our enemies have fallen and the galaxy is at peace due to our presence.:: Well, aside of course from some other factions that do concern not only Grand Admiral Kasalle but probably others within the First Order. Nontheless, Thorne himself barely bothered with these thoughts for since the Emperor had pacified Mon Calamari and brought back Coruscant into the fold of the Empire once more, the First Order had more trouble bothering with regular rebels and pirates than major factions, that tended to wage open war with them. Even the Corellian Coalition that currently opposed them didn't dare to strike an attack upon them. With several oversectors under their controll, the First Order had indeed achieved, where most other heirs to the Empire failed. ::Unfortunately I am nothing more than a fleet officer, Prefect and thus can only recommend you to either send a diplomatic envoy to Muunilinst in order to get in contact with Grand Moff Kasalle, my superior or to directly set course to Coruscant in order to announce yourself before the Emperor himself.:: He briefly paused, as one of his subordinates whispered something to him. Twirling his walrus mustache somewhat nervously, he then continiued the transmission. ::Apparently the Grand Moff is already on her way though, as I was told.::, he then said, somewhat apologizing, ::We will make sure to explain the situation to her, given that current situation. Is there anything we should tell her or report towards the First Order's High Command?::

So, they'd actually done it. Yuuzhan Vong didn't really smile but the eye sacks beneath the Prefect's mqaaq'it bulged ever so slightly, indicating pleasure. Nem had regaled Shendor and the others of their Domain with tales of his discussions with the infidel knight, Xeonon Solomon, of secret missions and intelligence sharing to promote a unified atheistic galactic government. He was perhaps mildly disappointed to have missed the grand change and all the conquest in between, but he didn't regret leaving when they did, despite all they had left behind. They might not have been there to see the vision through to the end, but they had been there at the beginning of it all. There was nothing wrong with being a footnote in some greater things shadow.
It is a long way from here to Coruscant, Commodore Thorne, and our race had never been safe to freely travel the hyperspace routes. The vast crimes of the Yuuzhan Vong Empire are still carried upon our shoulders. We are... There was hesitation in his voice, and his tone turned sour. ...hated, I suppose is the right word to use, by a great many species that inhabit this galaxy. Frankly, I don't dispute their enmity, it has been earned. There is much to atone for, but it will fall to someone else to make amends. My only interest is in the prolonged survival of my species.
It was an unnecessary overshare, maybe a little tactical if he was honest. Shendor wanted to convey the general feeling of his people, to make it known that post Yuuzhan Vong War, they weren't the same species. He wanted to be genuine. In the brief few seconds a superior officer might ask Thorne about his opinion of the Prefect, genuine was as good as he could expect.
I imagine a Grand Moff would be able to negotiate on behalf of your First Order. Convey then that our superior, Nem of Domain Yin, Executor of the Praetorite would like to speak with this Grand Moff. It is my belief that the Praetorite can be of service to the First Order. If Imperial Knight Xeonon Solomon still lives and serves your Empire, he can vouch for our sincerity. There was a final pause before a query. He, Executor Nem of Domain Yin, will most likely wish to see the caves. Would such a thing be possible?
Though he didn't say it specifically, the only caves he could have been talking about were the crystal caves. They were a wonder of the galaxy and something the Executor hadn't been able to see when the Chiss were in control of the planet. If Shendor could arrange a meeting in the caves with this grand moff, Nem would be in his debt, a good position to be for a rising star amongst the Praetorite.

Paxter Thorne knew that the whole situation was a diplomatic matter, yet he also understood that there wasn't much he could say, when the Yuuzhan Vong Prefect explained the very reasons why a lot of people, including the Imperials themselves distrusted them. Their people were once considered as a threat by most within the galaxy, one of the few times where the Imperials of old had to ally up even with the New Republic. Nowadays there were technically methods and strategies available with which a similiar threat could be fought back of course and yet, as Prefect Shendor explained, the distrust would still remain. Whether it be in the form of Vong raiders or others that feared that they might pose a threat again, they would certainly give the xenophobes within the First Order even more reasons for their agendas.
Perhaps it was a blessing, that these Praetorite Vong have found their way into the Muunilinst oversector. While Grand Moff Kasalle was mainly a person of the navy, she had ensured over the past time within her office that the ideals of the Fel Empire were upheld within her oversector. Degrees of the Emperor, where slave trade within the First Order was abolished were forced upon Imperial nobility and their subsidiary companies without any hesitation, leading briefly to a small crisis in the oversector, where most of the old guard opposed Kasalle's plans. It was even rumored that further conflicts within the border regions between the Corellian Coalition and the First Order were even sparked by displeased noble families, including even the Grand Moff's own family. Simultaneously though several humanoid citizens, including the Muun and others from the oversector, began to volunteerly join the ranks of Stormtroopers and officers within the oversector as the propaganda spread. Thorne knew that out of most Grand Moffs Jenia Kasalle was probably one of the better choices that could lead these negotiations.
::Unfortunately I can not answer whether it will be possible to visit the caves, when a meeting will be arranged, yet I will inform the Grand Moff of your request, Prefect.::, the Commodore eventually stated after a while, ::We will respond once we have discussed the matter with her.:: The communication ended and it was made clear that the Imperials would need their time until they would respond again.
Nearly half an hour passed, when another ship entered the orbit of Ilum, a larger Star Destroyer variant, that was most likely unknown towards the Praetoriate Vong. The dagger-shaped vessel slowly rendevouszed with the smaller Victory-II class vessel, before another transmission was sent over by the Commodore. ::Paxter Thorne to Prefect Shendor of Domain Yin, Grand Moff Kasalle has arrived and is permitting a meeting within the caves. Her personal shuttle will be on it's way towards the agreed location, while we will also send you the coordinates, if necessary. All imperial forces have been informed within the system.:: Few seconds later the Bleeding Orifice recieved data from sides of the Imperials that could be encoded easily, revealing the coordinates of the meeting point and a weather forecast onto the location for the next hours. The First Order's Grand Moff had accepted their invitation.

While time past on by the Intendant and crew of the Bleeding Orifice kept in communications with the Price of Pain, updating the Executor of all that had been said and learned. The Executor was so intrigued he had ordered his flag ship to immediately jump to darkspace and travel to the system.Shendor relayed the Specter one last time.Prefect Shendor to Commodore Thorne, we understand and are pleased. The Executor will be arriving shortly. Bleeding Orifice, out.It was an hour later when a Ro'ik chuun m'arh silently exited darkspace, like a sharks fin slipping beneath the waves as it went on the hunt, drifting towards Ilum at low speed. The black hulled vessel of bone excretion armour and yorik coral was the Price of Pain, flagship of Executor Nem of Domain Yin, head of the Praetorite Vong. Though the ablative coating of the hull was self repairing over time, this particular hull showed a vast number of scars. It had seen action in its day and lived through it. Thanks to those scars it would never forget. At the back end of the ship, Nem strode through an open hatch sphincter, entering the rear compartment of the yorik-trema Blood Chalice. A large glistaweb robe shimmered around his lithe jaguar like frame, revealing glimpses of the glossy black cloaker body suit he wore from toe to neck. He took a seat and withdrew his qahsa personal device, tapping on the screen as he scrolled through his latest updates. Joining him in the compartment were four Yuuzhan Vong warrior caste in full vonduun skerr kyrric, each carrying an amphistaff coiled in various states about their armoured bodies. Lastly was a chazrach reptoid that served as the Executor's personal scribe, utterly mindless other than in its ability to record everything the Executor did and said. A hiss sounded into the silent void, an exhalation of gas as the yorik-trema separated from the Price of Pain, moving towards the planet by means of dovin basal propulsion. The transport literally manipulated gravity to move itself. Inside the pilot operated the villip choir, this one fitted with the same sort of biot attachment the Bleeding Orifice had used to communicate over electronic frequencies, known as an oggzil. The pilot contacted Ilum's control.Blood Chalice to Ilum Imperial Control, Executor Nem of Domain Yin is aboard and we are headed to the agreed upon coordinates. They didn't wait, but continued on towards the surface and their destination. The First Order representative had said the Imperial forces in the area had been notified and they were trusting that was so.

Unsurprisingly the Imperials didn't react too much on the approaching biological shuttle, as the Grand Moff kept to her word. The First Order was careful, yet seemed to respect a diplomatic meeting. It didn't take long for one of the officers to respond from the surface. ::Understood, Blood Chalice, the Grand Moff awaits you on the surface.::
It was to be expected, given that earlier a white shuttle, similiar to a Lambda-shuttle, had made it's way towards the surface from the recently arrived Conservator-class Star Destroyer. So far things seemed to be calm on Ilum, as the next blizzard that could potentially endanger a flight towards the area of the Crystal Caves wasn't detected so far. Thus the vessel was able to descend without further troubles.

Rising from the upper atmosphere into the cold airless clutches of the void, the yorik-trema 'Blood Chalice' pursued a return course to the ro'ik chuun m'arh 'Price of Pain', gliding towards the organic frigate on wings of gravity. Its whip like tail swept the vacuum behind it, stirring up motes of orbital dust in its wake. Long tentacles protruded between crevices in the ablative yorik coral hull of the larger vessel, reaching out to grasp the living shuttle and bind it close to its surface, until the shuttle's own hatch-sphincter lined up with the frigate's oqa membrane. When the seal was complete the Executor exited the organic shuttle craft and made his way towards the Price of Pain's bridge, arriving just as the ship had turned back towards open space and made the lightspeed jump into darkspace.

Patrols over Ilum go with the regular schedule, as the high security transportation of kyber crystals from the system towards major shipyards continiues. Starfighter patrols, composing of the regular First Order TIE fighters and singular TIE Signals, that are scanning various perimeters within a system for any activity continiue to serve being more effective, allowing the Empire to track down various pirate and smuggler activities within the system. Those, that approach Ilum's orbit and neighbouring systems had to be careful if their intentions were of shady nature, given that the First Order had learnt from initial mistakes during their patrols.

Ro'ik Chuun M'arh - Coral Cosair Black web like tendrils blinked into existence and vanished in a blinding flash of light as a Yuuzhan Vong frigate analog emerged from the corridors of darkspace, manipulating gravity with powerful dovin basal arrays as it decelerated from lightspeed travel upon entering the system. The rough yorik coral hull had been genetically manipulated to a hue of black matching the lightless void around it, causing the Corsair to glide across the vacuum like an invisible wraith, its spines and coral arms lit by orange glowing lambents that lit space like speckles of starlight. The metallic spine of an oggzil protruded from the upper hull like a slender mast, crackling with electrical current as the villip choir it was connected to triggered the living organism's reflex. The Praetorite Vong vessel broadcast its information on a general comm-channel, announcing itself in the system to fellow First Order forces shortly after exiting darkspace. Locking on to Ilum's gravity well, the ro'ik chuun m'arh pulled itself through space towards the planet, with a belly full of 'special' cargo.Shendor Yin stood on the bridge, staring out into the void with two glowing crimson mqaaq'it, his ocular implants magnifying the Prefect's view of the planet through the membranous view-spider screen. The Intendant crossed vein strewn arms behind his back, his flesh wrapped in a symbiotic layer of second skin known as a cloaker. The glossy black texture covered Yuuzhan Vong from toe to throat, emphasising his lean athletic physique. He wore a long robeskin hood over his head that draped over his back down to his shins. The whole look cast his scarred facial features in a veil of shifting shadows, the lower half of his skeletal visage hidden behind a starfish shaped gnullith rebreather. A yorik-coral sheath rested on his hip with a the serrated blade of a curved coufee dagger thrust in it. The Prefect was a deadly example of the militant domain of assassins and spies. Several larger looking Yuuzhan Vong lurked in the dark corners of the bridge, only the edges of their corpse pallor flesh visible around their purple eyesacks. The Hunters served as the Prefect's shadow, a lethal bodyguard of invisible killers."Status on the special cargo?" Inquired the Intendant, turning from the organic window towards the rest of the bridge where members of his domain were symbiotically adhered to cognition thrones linked to their nervous systems. His brow ridges narrowed, giving his red eyes a menacing quality. "Coming out of stasis right on schedule, Prefect." Shendor nodded, slinking over to the command pulpit, the long slender fingers of his hands gripping the coral railing tightly. Bowing his head, the Intendant wondered what had brought him to this moment, here on the outskirts of the galaxy. A wisp of steam blew from his gnulliths gills as the rebreather vented carbon dioxide and sucked into oxygen, briefly creating a ghostly veil over the Prefect's infernal eyes. "Then take us in."The Coral Corsair proceeded towards the planet.

Flocks of TIE fighters were patrolling the area already, when the dagger-shaped silhouette of the Star-Destroyer Charybdis emerged from hyperspace. As while things became silent, the Conservator-class flagship of Grand Admiral Jenia Kasalle was known to the system of Ilum, since she had reigned over the sector for quite some time under the gouvernment of the First Order.
Taking a glance out of the bridge window, the silver-haired woman in her dark uniform, more reminiscent of the Moff uniform than the regular attire of the Grand Admirality, was waiting vigilant, as if she had to study the situation. Quite some time had passed since she was here the last time, reunited with her fleet at once. Aside the large planet in front of her, she already had spotted the sight of the two familiar Victory II-class Star Destroyers, Banshee and Specter , alonside their Vindicator escorts. Her loyal Commodores were awaiting orders, the lines of communication already opened up by an officer. "Status Report!", she immidiately commanded, her voice calm, yet piercing like clear ice, "What is the situation of the Empire?"
Now that the Grand Admiral had returned from the Outer Regions beyond theknown galaxy, the rendezvous point over Ilum was more than critical to her. Much had happened in her absence since the Emperor had passed away and since she swore her loyality towards his rightful heir Octavian and thus she would require all the intel she could gather before once again she would fight once more for the First Order.

Due to its relative isolation, Ilum was saved entirely from the chaos and violence of the Third Imperial Civil War. Given the strong presence of the Supreme Commander's own personnel, soldiers, and officers, this system was entirely loyal to the cause of the Emperor Octavian. There weren't even whispers of dissent within the hallways and rooms of the Imperial base on the planet nor among the vessels that orbited the world above. Simply put, it was a loyal bastion. There was a peace here, despite the strength of the Imperial Military that was ever present. All went about their routines, carrying on and performing their duties to the letter. For when the war was over, a new duty would call: one that would see the Empire renewed and rebuilt... but in what way?
