Thanks to the benefit of Senator Schurz's status, despite being a brand new senator leading a new delegation, Scipio kept its office near the upper levels in the office building. Walking in to the receiving room impressed upon the visitor a sense or regality and welcoming. In the receiving room were oaken bookshelves covered with rare manuscripts, including the biography written thanks to everyone who considered themselves close to the senator, also the Manifesto of Jedi master Pong Krell. straight ahead where two desks, one belonged to whatever intern was assigned to the delegation, the other belonged to Drake Kogarne so that he could oversee the intern, and also maintain knowledge on current events on Scipio or research any topic the senator requests if additional information is available.
it is worth noting, that in the “Blind” corner and set out of immediate eye position sit Ren Daido, for the purpose of being IN the room should someone with the intent to harm attempted to come into the office
to the room to the right was the Senator’s office or rather the room where the voting members of the delegation did their work. the Oak and Mahogany of the receiving room was replaced with the finest polished marble Scipio could offer. in each corner stood a quarter of a Corinthian column to add to the grandeur. on the walls were draped tapestries with Scipian legends woven upon them and trimmed with purple. while the western wall was filled with mahogany bookshelves with more practical, but still rare books, Like first prints of the latest editions of legal codes, and histories of member planets of the republic, the eastern wall contained trophies, like the breastplate of a fallen Mandalorian from the holy war, the helmet of a clone who sliced his phase I and Phase II helmets together for one uniquely his own, and the lightsaber of a Jedi Sentinel who fell in the Great Purge trying to hide on Scipio. To the north, behind a mahogany desk and seated on fine Corinthian leather sat Senator Fortis. to the south in a similar situation sat Representative Watanabe of the IGBC. both desks were usually littered with documents, proposals to be drafted, research to be considered, or bills waiting to come up for a vote.
One last room to mention sat behind an empty bookcase. this was to conceal the meeting room. a mix of granite and steel to form a safe room laden with jammers to make anyone scanning the room believe that the room wasn’t there. it is here, if secrecy was needed the senator could be briefed on all manner of topics from military to potential threats to the Republic. It is here if a guest could be tucked away to speak with the senator should the guest feel nervous or fear for their life. And lastly, If the senate building be under attack or the senator is targeted, it is here he would be safest from the assailant.

With the visit to the Alderaanian Embassy concluded, the Hapan Delegation had moved swiftly through Galactic City to the Senate Rotunda proper. Originally, they had come here to speak solely with the Crowned Princess of New Alderaan, however as the meeting had come to a close, the Queen Mother had desired to speak with more than her solitary sum. To ensure that she was not to be alone, her armada in orbit had contacted several of the Representatives currently unengaged with the upcoming electoral processes. Surprisingly enough, after the death of the Vice Chancellor had been made public, few sought to run after such a highly... disreputable position. That said when the Consortium had made the call, several senators of note had arrived in the Senatorial Office formerly devoted to the system of Scipio. It was in a sorry state of abandonment, as the world - like many others in the years before the present - had ceded from the Republic and thus with no Senator to replace the loss, the room would remain in such a state until a replacement was found. Though, with the events that had been set in motion, such a time would never come to pass. Instead, the room would only fall deeper into disrepair as the Rotunda itself would soon become nothing more than a monument to failure.
Wiping her finger along the dust-smeared desk, Lyra Vid'aan, once the first and former Supreme Chancellor of this very Republic and the current residing Senator of Coruscant, tutted at the cleanliness of her surroundings. "Couldn't we have met in my office?"
The Queen Mother, standing in the altered dress she had worn to the Alderaanian Embassy earlier that same day, shook her head. "I'm afraid not, my friend. It wouldn't be taken well by the others, as it would be seen as the Consortium places a higher regard in Coruscant's well-being rather than all of her closest allies. Consider this neutral ground if you will."
Lyra nodded in response. Her words held truth, despite how much she chafed at the idea of being in such a filthy place. Her Hus - No. He was dead, slain a year before in the same manner that killed the Vice-Chancellor. A brutal assassination. At least, she took some comfort in the way he had passed. Clean, efficient, lethal. He didn't suffer, unlike what the reports had suggested about Darma. Taking a ragged breath, Lyra found her thoughts about the past pushed aside by the sudden entrance of a disheveled woman, followed by the remainder of their number. They were the last of the Senator's that had found themselves outside the Corellian Delegate's camp - the last that had not left the Republic due to ties beyond anyone's comprehension.
Without delay, each of the arriving delegation had introduced themselves to the Queen Mother and her frighteningly tall husband. They knew their time here would be short before tomorrow's proceedings, and they felt uneasy being in the presence of a fully armoured Epicanthix. Then again, even without the future looming over their heads like a storm-cloud, they would've been off put by the towering figure.
"Thank you for coming on such short notice," Araneya began with a diplomat's smile. "I know you've all got big plans for tomorrow and have little time to waste on such trivial manners as a call from an old friend." She laughed slightly, a gesture that was meant to clear the air of the billowing sensation of unease. It had seemingly worked as many of the Representatives had laughed along with her, while others merely cracked a smile. "So, in recognition of that fact, I'll keep this brief. As your spies have no doubt informed you, the Consortium had come to Coruscant with a single goal in mind. To meet with the Senator from New Alderaan to discuss the future of the Republic." She waved a dismissive hand towards one of the Representatives that was about to interrupt her. "I know, I should've spoken with the Senatorial delegation at large in regards to such a burden. However, what I had to say, was for her ears alone. Thus, leading me to the reason I had come here and am now seemingly wasting your time." She cleared her throat and made sure that all present had her undivided attention. "I want you all to throw your support behind Standash Thul as the new Supreme Chancellor of the Republic."
Her demand was met with silence.
"You can't be serious." Lyra had said after several heartbeats had passed. "That girl has little knowledge of how things operate, let alone she's untested in the Senate. What good could she do as our figurehead?"
Other dissenting voices had made their case until the armoured giant had shifted. His once folded arms fell to his hips and laughter rumbled forth from behind his metallic visage.
"Were you not in such a place some odd years ago, Lyra? You were merely the Governor of Coruscant when you and your comrades had decided to reform the Galactic Coalition of Confederated Systems into the Republic. They had chosen you, a woman of little renown, to become the first Supreme Chancellor. What makes the Lady Thul any different?"
"She's a pacifist!" One man had said, his voice barking over the others.
"Considering that the Republic has long been untouched by the echoes of war, one would think that such a gentle woman would make for an ideal candidate for the future, no?" The Queen Mother riposted, silencing those that sought to weigh in with their thoughts. "Pacifism does not imply apathy, nor ignorance. All that it states is that she will be taking the future of the Republic in her hands and guiding it towards an end that's beneficial for us all."
Lyra's eyes narrowed.
"End? To what end do you speak?"
The Queen Mother smiled as she subtly tilted her head.
"The End of the Republic," A thin smile had crossed her lips. "Of course."
Exasperated gasps and cries of disbelief ran throughout the various delegations, and several had voiced their derision. In response, the Queen Mother placed both of her hands in the air, placating her supposed friends to halt their outrage so that she could further extrapolate on her words.
"My friends. You knew that this day was coming, long after Lyra's term had come to an end and the Republic after that fell into political ruin. You've borne witness to Scandal after Scandal, and yet nothing's been done to legitimise the Government. Just last year, when the ashes of the Second Mandalorian Crusade had finally settled - one of your own had admitted to being a War Criminal - yet you all stood by and watched from the sidelines as he retook his seat. Before that, promises of aid and support had been broken or unanswered. Enemies lingered on all sides, and yet..." She paused, more for dramatic effect than anything else. "Nothing was done. You've become complacent and corrupted by the very system you sought to set straight. I think it's finally time to come to terms with the sins each of you bear. The time has finally come for you to end this charade. With your support thrown behind Standash Thul, she will take this virulent institution and a farce of a Government and dismantle it from the head down."
Lyra tutted once more. "Say we vote for the Alderaanian Girl, what guarantee do you have that she will do as you've asked of her? Had I been in that position, I would've told you that you're dreaming. We sought to emulate the Republic of Old, and though we've been bogged down by bureaucracy and scandals, it hardly means that the Republic should meet its end at the hands of one of its own."
"To be honest, I've considered invading Coruscant and destroying the Republic by force. With just the soldier's attached to my Honour Guard, I'd be able to take out every military installation in the System and seize the Senate before you'd be able to understand what happened. In fact, as the vote has yet to take place, that's still a possibility." She scoffed at how blunt she had become, mentally noting how much of her Husband's forthright nature she was starting to adopt. "However, I don't want that to happen. I want us to be still friends after the Republic's been dissolved, and to ensure that's the case - I've requested that everything you've put into the Republic would be returned in full after the announcement's been made. Even to the worlds that have ceded from this Government shall be reimbursed. This, I believe, is a more suitable route for all as we can walk away from the myriad of controversies with our heads held high."
"What shall we do if aid is needed?" Another faceless Senator had asked aloud. "The Republic was always there for us when we needed help. Without it, what shall we do?"
"Are you sure that was the case, Serrah? As the logs put it, your world's been untouched by foreign hands for some time now. It won't do for you to lie to me, not when we all know the Truth."
The man grumbled. "So much for being the Devil's Advocate."
"Without your funds being diverted to feed the greed and wealth of other worlds, you'll be free to do with your credits as you like. Who knows, you might even be able to get that Planetary Defence Force you've been droning on about for the last few months."
Slipping her arms underneath one another and pressing them firmly to her chest, the Queen Mother flashed a victorious grin.
"So, I take it since I've made my intentions clear and silenced your qualms, you'll be voting in favour of the Alderaanian girl?"
Some nodded, others had voiced their agreement. Lyra was the last among the delegation to say anything. She stood there for several moments contemplating the future and what it might bring to her world if there was no longer a Republic to assume governance. That would open the door to others that sought to replace the Republic, but the more she thought about it from that angle, the more she realized that such an occurrence would take place whether or not the Republic was in power. People wanted Coruscant, not only for it's strategic placement upon the galactic map but for the historical symbolism the world had held. Shaking her head and tossing her hands up in defeat, Lyra relented.
"Fine," She said with a heavy sigh. "She's got my support. With us, only the Corellians and the Naboo stand in her way of a unanimous shoe-in. I only hope that you're right in freeing us from this ridicule."
