How To Create a Character/Edit your Profile
Greetings and Salutations, fellow members of Jedi vs Sith! This How-To guide will instruct you on how to go about creating a character. We are not like most roleplaying websites, as we do not require you to submit your character for review. All you have to do is follow these steps and you are all set to start writing.
Moving further down....
Just a few more sections to go. Hang in there, you are doing great!
Home stretch.
*Note- Do not forget to click the Save Personal Settings button, so all of your hard will be saved.
Congratulations!
Confetti flies into the air and fireworks explode in the sky as you complete your first JvS character.
Great job! Glad you made it through all of that. Now that you've completed your first JvS character, feel free to start writing. You can look for stories to join, or create your own requests for other members in the Roleplay Planning section of the website. Or you can start out running, so to speak, in the Universe. Do be mindful of other members, and play nice! Oh, and never forget to have fun!

Greetings and Salutations, fellow members of Jedi vs Sith! This How-To guide will instruct you on how to go about creating a character. We are not like most roleplaying websites, as we do not require you to submit your character for review. All you have to do is follow these steps and you are all set to start writing.
To start off on creating your character, you will need to click the profile button at the top of the homepage page. It looks like this:
You will then be taken to your profile page. This is how other members see your profile. Click the 'Edit Profile' button on the right, and you will then be taken to another page that will look like this:
From this screen you can edit your avatar by either linking a picture or selecting an image on your computer. After optionally putting in an avatar, click on the 'Personal' tab next to the 'Avatar' tab. You will then be taken to your character's profile page.
As shown in the picture above, there is a blank area to enter your Display Name. Your Username and Display name can be different. It can be, but is not not limited to, the character's name. The Username is used for logging in, while the Display Name can be capitalized and have spaces in it. This is how other memberss will see your name on the forums.
Now that you have changed your display name to whatever you like, you are now ready to continue. The sections below are where you fill out the information for your character. You can put as much or as little as you wish. Let me give you a brief run-down of what each of these are used for...
Now that you have changed your display name to whatever you like, you are now ready to continue. The sections below are where you fill out the information for your character. You can put as much or as little as you wish. Let me give you a brief run-down of what each of these are used for...
- Official Name- This is different from both the Username and Display name. This is the official name of your character. Whatever your character's full name, or alias, is, this is the place to write it in.
- Quote- Have a snappy one-liner that is stuck in your head that your character said in a post? Put it here. It might give people insight into your character and how they talk or act.
- Gender- Is your character male, female, a hermaphrodite, asexual, or none of the above?
- Age- How old is your character?
- Species- Star Wars has a wide variety of species, sentient and non-sentient. For a list of restricted or banned species, please follow this link.
- Homeworld- Where is your character from? Where do they consider home? This is not limited to a planet.
- Occupation- What does your character do? examples: Jedi, Sith, Rogue, Mercenary, or Tap Dancer.
- Force Alignment- It would not be Star Wars without the Force. Here you can state your allegiance, or lack thereof, to the Force. Or let people that you are not Force sensitive.
- Affiliation- This is where you can state to whom your character's allegiance lies. Whether it be Faction, an idea or item (such as credits), a single person, or even themselves.
Moving further down....
- Appearance- What does your character look like? Do they have any scars? What do they normally wear? How tall are they? Are they skinny, fat, or muscular?
- Biography- This is the section where you have a chance to write out the history of your character. Anything exciting happen in their lives or have they lived a normal, quiet life? It's your character and your story to tell.
- Weapons- What weapons does your character carry around, or have in their possession?
- Force Powers- If your character is Force Sensitive, this is where you can put their known Force Powers. Usually the 'Top Ten' Force Powers are put in this section. Labelling how proficient they are with each power can also be done here, if desired.
Just a few more sections to go. Hang in there, you are doing great!
- Personal Spaceship- This is your character's personal starship. Each character is given a choice of starting with one ship up to the classification of a Support ship. This does not mean you will be stuck with a medical ship. To find out the different classifications of ships that JvS allows, follow this link.
- Fleet- If your character has multiple starships under their command, you can list them here. If your character does not have the credits or manpower needed to keep a fleet running, it is best to either limit the number of ships or leave this blank. For rules on personal fleets, follow this link.
- Ground Forces- If your character has ground forces under their control, list them here. The same rule as with personal fleets applies here. If your character does not have the ability to support large amounts of troops, it is best to either limit the number of ground forces or leave this blank. For rules on ground forces, follow this link.
- Traffic Light and Additional- A 'Traffic Light' is the word we use for determining how you want to roleplay, what you are looking for, and how often you are on. The Additional section is where you can elaborate on your traffic light color. Here is a short description of each color and what it means.
- Purple- I am on hiatus, or vacation, or am not very active, or this character is closed down for the time being.
- Blue- I am on pretty often, and am open to all kinds of RP, including character death.
- Green- I am also on pretty often, and am open to all kinds of RP, excluding character death.
- Yellow- I am on often, but I am only looking for stable stories that follow a set plot.
- Orange- I like to plan out closed stories and go through them over the course of a long, or short time.
- Red- I write in closed storylines. PM me for more details on stories I am doing and ask to join up.
Home stretch.
- Known Masters- Here you can put in all the people your character has trained under in their life. Listing people mentioned in your character's biography here, or anyone else's character your own character has trained under.
- Known Apprentices- Here you list everyone your character has ever trained, whether it be an NPC (non-player character), or another member's character.
- NPC's- Non-player characters are characters that are written by the author, but are not main characters with their own profile account. An example of this would be an astromech droid, or a military general under the command of your character. The possibilities are endless.
- Accomplishments/Goals- This is where you list the accomplishments and goals of you and your character. Brag a bit about conquering a planet, or let it be known you will have your revenge.
- Author- This final section is where you can tell us a bit about yourself. A 'Get to Know Me' section. This is optional, and not necessary at all, but it can be fun to get to know the mind behind the madness.
*Note- Do not forget to click the Save Personal Settings button, so all of your hard will be saved.
Congratulations!
