Now for clarification I chose the directory, happy the badges are gone and its lack of purpose. I think the galactic directory is an excellent idea, taking all the planets and labelling their alliance for quick and easy checking. More so than that, it can tell you if there is a major RP there if you wanted to get ambitious.
I for one never really liked the badge system nor even the traffic light system. The badges in particular though do not have much of a place these days, back in the wonder years they were primarily used for taxation or prestige. The better your badge the more money you had, the more ships you could buy to wage war. Well with the whole economy something of a joke these days that makes that part of badges useless. The other side is the prestige, the whole "we uphold ourselves to a higher standard" thing there your writing is "better" than other planets. I can think of two worlds who had it. One was not exclusive to anyone. You could go there get drunk and have a good time. The other one though, well we dont talk about it. Maybe it was perceived elitism, maybe it wasnt but it left a bad taste in everyones mouth. It was that elitisim (real or not) that led to groups being formed and less interaction. Let sleeping dogs lay. Unless you institue the blue traffic light system on every planet. That would be fun. Shoutout to @dantedeveaux for coming up with that idea.
The third thing was the lack or purpose. To my knowledge the system was underutilized. So few people actually checked or even maintained a planets guide, and if they did well then not to many checked it out. If you wanted information on the planet the easiest thing to do was go to Wookieepedia or check out the last couple pages of writing. That usually cleared up everything. Now I cant say I didnt ever use it, here on 2.0 I wrote one up for Aaragu, one that is in desperate need of updating. Its only one of a handful written though, most planets do not have one and I think that speaks volumes towards the whole not needing them.
Okay now someone counter my points. I want a nice clean debate.

But if the guide entries WERE accurate and current, would you use them?

If they were all up to date 100% of the time I could see them as a useful tool when starting a new RP on the planet or looking for like minded individuals so I would probably use it.

I normally go to people instead of a written guide, meaning that I know who I like to write with, and generally I'm too busy to go looking for new places. Not to mention, half the time I'm trying to come up with plotlines and help out new people. So, I wish I had more time to deal with it.

It might be nice to have a 'rough list' section as well. Basically a list of the planets on the boards, their IC loyalties (Republic, Empire, Mando, Independent), & one main RP focus (War, Politics, Business, Personal, etc). & keep that as up to date as possible. That way people could get a rough idea of places their RP might work, with the individual planet guides updated less frequently, generally only for major changes.
Examples
Core Worlds >Corellia (Republic, Personal) >Kuat (Empire, Politics) Tingel Arm >Etti IV (Mando, Business)

The purpose of this poll is to help me decide which of my ideas for the site are worth pursuing, so keep the ideas flowing. :^)
