Yeah I was just coming back to say I meant the 28th, apparently me and calendars don't cooperate. But if you folks think weekends are bad (and you'd probably know better than I do) then what about Tuesday the 31... I mean 30th yeah the 30th is the Tuesday

I would be in for a randomness sort of thing (council of knowledge style) i just probably wouldn't be as quick to take part in battles...

That's the beauty of spontaneousness, it basically is whatever you make it, everything from bar brawls and world explosions to drinking tea and talking philosophy, it'll be all sorts of things

So this is an announcement before she dies out. We are doing this.
TUESDAY the 30th
Location: Dagobah
Time: 10am-10pm EST
Rough outline for being there: There was a distress signal sent out to you, your faction, your friend (whatever) and you go. To bad it was sent out to all them. Everyone. Getting there you find a prefab base. Whatever you want to do goes from there.
Rules: 1. Keep it to the rules 2. The natural laws may be bent but not broken 3. If you show up you accept the risks 4. Your colour badge will be taken into consideration but will not save you 5. Everyone must bring bacon 6. You do not talk about fight club 7. Keep the posts small, we do not need a novella (maybe 5-8 paragraphs for example) 8. Keep the planet knocking up to a minimum 9. A plot may be given but it is up to you to advance it or ignore it 10. After the prescribed time all activity may continue but under the regular rules of the boards. 11. Death is optional after it ends but find a way to make it fit

I likely won't be around for much or any of this, but I like the decisiveness, and I want to see this happen before the momentum can fade. I'm also not sure whether a 12 hour window will work as well as a shorter, more concentrated one would? But let's try it, and see how it goes. Any questions or disputes that arise should be handled by the participating Guild Councilors, if possible.
I will try to make time to create announcements tomorrow, including on the Facebook page and on Twitter.
P.S. Don't be a jerk, and please, please don't make me dust off the banhammer. :^)

I'm contemplating between two alts to use, one Jedi, one Sith. Since I won't be on until about halfway through (maybe earlier) I'll just check out who all's there and decide which character to use based on what would bring more diversity, hopefully.

So I would call that a success. I want some feedback from people though, what was good, what was bad, what can be done to improve it? How often are we going to do this? How else can we attract more people to join them?

I liked it, quite a lot. A little silly, but just what the Doctor ordered. Quid Pro Quo and such. Earlier public announcement? Prizes? Promise of nudity?

It was good. Attendance was a bit small and it took a little while to take off until more people showed up. I'll reiterate Galdaart's thing about earlier public announcement. There could have been more seriousness, but the part I was in wasn't the main part of the RP so it was serious enough for my taste. Maybe less railroading would be better?
I'd like to see it become a bigger event. I envision a series of "day-long RP events" like this, one after the other. This makes it less susceptible to people missing out. What would set this apart from normal RP (besides the promise of spontaneity and meeting up with different people) is you could post a set of loose objectives at the start of the first day, and then each day thereafter post a summary of the previous day's events (helpful for those who missed certain parts of it) and update/adjust the objectives for the upcoming day. So, like normal RP, but with different faces, and "breaks in the action" that help keep the party going, and help the RP follow the RPers instead of vice-versa.

We can definitely improve on the timing of the publicity with more pre-planning (and when fewer holidays interfere...)
It's rewarding for me as an administrator to see an idea like this succeed.

Someone else had mentioned a set of loose examples, and I tried to bring in one but I had done it to late and under thought that part. There will totally be a plot for the next one beyond getting people there.
So how often do people think? Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly? I do like the "make it last for a couple days". I know its meant to be a few hours at a time but there is potential in having it last for a couple days (Look at Dagobah peter out at 10 despite it just getting traction a couple hours earlier)

This is just my opinion, but if it was weekly, I wouldn't be able to make many of these awesome events. Bi-weekly is about right. Allows for some planning and fore-thought, but not to the extent that a monthly event would get planned to death.
Basically, enough time for the host planet / Councilor to get a map or set of circumstances or framework planned, advertise ahead of time (especially if it's same time every two weeks...) and drum up interest. Not so much time that it basically becomes a planned, closed RP.

I liked it a lot and would support it happening on a regular basis. I'd say once or twice a month would be best but that's just my opinion. Having it last a couple of days would be good but I'd only be able to make weekends if that was the case, can't be booking days off work for this every month! I suppose shuffling the schedule around would allow most people to attend.

I like these things and cannot wait for the next one (maybe i will even plan it) but i have to agree, days are long gone that we can pull off a timed event like the battle arena of 1.0...
my solution is similar to BP's extend it a couple days, like perhaps a weekend.

Another possibility is to carry out the same location/storyline continuing over multiple sessions. Say 3 hours a day, but multiple days in a row, or once a week, etc.
Basically: pick the times that everyone is available and commit to showing up then. And anything that gets posted in between is fair game, but it's a bonus and no one would expect an immediate response "after hours."

Bi-weekly seems like it could work the best, wouldn't be too often but it would be just often enough to keep people excited, occupied, and not losing interest. As far as continuing previous arcs go, I actually wanted to ask if we'd potentially pick up the Dagobah one up to completion, I admit I was kind of interested in the goal, and I'm also curious as far as my own RP goes; I had something I had wanted to do on Dagobah after it was over, unrelated to the RP, but didn't want to skip ahead in case this one got continued. It's fine if we're considering this one dead, just am curious.
