I have played these kind of games before, but never here. I am looking to get started. My character is a refugee with a photographic memory and a genius IQ and basic untrained connection to the Force. I don't know what direction i want to take her, but i am really open to all ideas. Thanks.

Hi,
First of all welcome to JvS, I do hope you will find what you are wanting or needing to do.
First though, if you do not mind me asking, what kind of activity do you expect from the person who most likely would want to write with you?
Either way, I am encouraging you perhaps to set your foot on the future spontaneous RP (here) and perhaps depending on what you truly want to do either get in contact with someone hopefully in the Jedi OOC thread or any place else, if all fails, well I may have an idea, but again that is depending on what type of activity you are looking for?

I am looking for something that makes sense with the tragic backstory i have given her and the strengths and weaknesses of her mind. I do what her trained in the force by someone, and getting Kent a Lightsaber. I guess those are the short term goals i have for her.

If you want to take the Sith route (We have really good cookies), we're currently looking for members to join up with the Galactic Empire on Kuat. My character is actually known for being an Illusionist which uses the force to trick the mind. If Kent is a very smart person, that could be a potential way to take her in training with the force (whether you choose the light or darkiside). What styles of RP are you looking for here? A lot of action and fighting? Spying? Smuggling? Diplomacy? If you have any preferences, we would love to help lead you to writers who would work really well with you! Welcome to JvS by the way!!  |

Welcome, Kent!!  Your profile says, "I like her most powerful tool to be her mind, not the Force". I love you already!  We need more brains, less crazy complex powerful Force stuff. But that's just my inner non-Force cheerleaders two cents. Everyone's already given some good suggestions. Only thing I'd add is to simply peruse the JvS RP Planning threads, see who is looking for what, get to know some of the writers. You could also look around the IC planet threads for ideas. Most of the writing here on JvS is pre-planned or semi closed, but if you find a story or a character that catches your interest, shoot them a message about it! Depending on the story, many of us are more than happy to see if we can shuffle details around and make an opening for new people. We do have a chat room, it's not the busiest place in the 'verse but people stop in to talk every once in a while and it's a nice place to see what people are up to. Scroll to the top of the page and click on the Comm Chat button, it'll open the chat room. Register with Chatango and you're good to go! Are you generally a slower poster or one of those quick-fire posters? Feel free to message any of us with questions or ideas, or hash out your plots right here.  |

For the moment at least, i plan on at least checking in once a day. but if i dont have and major projects or school stuff i can be on a lot. i expect to be pretty quick.
I love this concept of group story telling we have the opportunity to do here. I really just want something that fits. I have been on other sites like this and to much the character combinations are just sooooo random. Star Wars has such an expansive universe that should never be a problem.
I guess i am looking to build a character really similar to Lea in cannon. A great fighter, all around ability but with her eyes on a greater end game. Diplomacy is really in her wheel house. I dont know if any of that makes sense. But that is kinda what i am looking for. Someone with great story telling abilities and maybe help me learn how things work here. im really interested in learning how lightsaber dueling works.

First of all, I'd simply like say something that has been touched on multiple times, but here it is anyways; "Welcome to Jedi vs. Sith!"
Anyways, allow me to introduce myself. The name's Bradley, but most people here just call me "Cath" and I respond to either. Personally I'm am super excited to see a brand new face around these parts and I will help in any way that I can and though I'm replying from my main account which is a Mandalorian I have characters in just about every aspect of SW affiliation. Whether it be Sith, Mandalorian, Jedi, Diplomat, etc, but I'm not here to try and sell myself as the person to write with. Basically anybody on this site would be open to writing with anyone and work around their SLs to incorporate a new writer (all you would have to do is ask) as Karana said earlier.

Learning how duelling works on JvS is a pretty simple thing and there are many people around who can walk you through it. Probably everyone who has said something so far to you has likely been through a duel or some kind of fight either In Character or in the Galactic Battle Arena. I think Andor used to be a judge or something in the GBA so he might be a good person to talk to.
For the most part all you really need to do is describe clearly what your character does in reaction to who ever you may be fighting while making sure not to call hits and honestly if you can reply to everything in just a few sentences or prefer to write long paragraphs it really doesn't matter. I don't know to many people who are picky about who they duel with so you should be good either way. Anyway that's about all I can think of saying on that and as I said before there are plenty of people who can help you develop your fighting abilities here on JvS and just remember fighting is awesome. XD
