These rules outlined here are considered temporary and may be subject to change at any time.

Regarding Non-Yuuzhan Vong and Vong Technology
The use of Yuuzhan Vong (YV) technology by non YV is expressly prohibited within the JvS universe. This rule has been brought about to curb the abuse of such technology by players seeking to gain what is construed as an unfair advantage against other players and to align as closely as possible, given the confines of this type of RP based site, to SW canon. While we are aware that there has been much recorded use of such technology by non-Vong within the EU we have had to restrict its use here to ensure no misuse.
Regarding the Use of the Force by Yuuzhan Vong
The use of the Force by Yuuzhan Vong characters has been expressly prohibited within the JvS universe. The rule has been brought about to ensure that the species is written as closely as possible to their canon counterparts (in which there was only one example of a Force-using Vong), and that fair play can come of the trade off between their technology and the Force (and Force-resistance).
Regarding Personal Clones
Due to abuse in the past of some players having more than one clone, players will be allowed to have only one personal clone at a time. Proper RP must be done to show the process of a clone being planned and made in a proper pre-made cloning facility, or fabricated facility in which the facility must be RP'ed being made. Additionally, once a clone has been used, the player must RP obtaining a new clone and undergo at least a three week waiting period (real time) in which the clone is made. However, if you choose to make a clone that is grown in a short amount of time, we ask that players reflect the effects seen in canon in which clones that are made in short periods suffered from accelerated deterioration and other birth defects.
Regarding Sith Swords, Jedi Katantas, and Force-imbued Materials
Any Force-imbued material is restricted to PC only. In general, any Force-enhanced blade must have RP support to verify its existence. Beyond using the Force to strengthen the blade, any abilities demonstrated by the weapons (e.g. the oft-noted ability of Sith Swords to absorb Force Lightning and discharge it later) must be specifically addressed in the RP of the sword's origin. The performance of a sword beyond a standard blade should be reflected in the effort, quality, and duration of the RP of the sword's creation.
Regarding Energy Resistant Metals/Alloys
Rare and powerful materials (i.e. beskar, cortosis, etc.), due to their rarity and power, require good judgment on the part of the writer. Ideally, there should be an in universe story or RP that can be linked back to as proof of obtaining the item, to prevent abuse. In the case of Player Characters (PCs), if it is reasonable that your character would have access to rare metals (such as a Mandalorian with Beskar'gam or a PC having one or two small items of a rare material), this is understandable and some leeway is given. However, while this oversight is allowed in the case of individual characters, the abuse of the suspension of disbelief to equip whole fighting forces or to create ships without legitimate RP backing will not be tolerated. If someone is reported as being suspected to be abusing the leniency of this rule, the Whills shall determine the course of action and make a ruling on the item(s).
When it comes to RP about acquiring said materials, if the metal's planet of origin does not exist on the boards, you may use the Journal of the Whills or Open Space threads as a substitute. In the case of beskar, it should be acquired only from MandalMotors, or a legitimate Mandalorian Smith with the knowledge to work it. Mandalore is the only world on JvS that has beskar.
Regarding Lightsaber Crystals
Full restriction:
Partial restriction:
It should also be noted that many Lightsaber Crystals are said to grant "additional damage" and similar such things - please bare in mind that many of the crystals that do so, do so only in a Computer Game and the effects are therefore deemed to be Game Mechanics that do not translate particularly well to text-based-RP such as this. Although not an absolute rule (as we have not yet gone over the details of every Lightsaber Crystal), it is both best practice and the usual PGC advice to only utilise crystal bonus properties that have been seen or referenced in non-computer or RP game sources, such as the novels and comic books.
Regarding Restricted Force Powers
This is a list of Force Powers that are banned for use in Open RP.* With the exception of the Force Abilities on this list, any other abilities may be used in any RP without prior approval. With the permission of whomever you RP with, of course, the powers on this list may also be used. Any abuse of these abilities will result in disciplinary action from the Whill Tribunal.
*The Force abilities on this list are subject to change as new Star Wars media is released and as the Whills deem fit.
Regarding Restricted Species
With the exception of the species on this list, any species may be used in any RP without alternative approval. With the permission of whomever you RP with, of course, the species on that list may also be used.
Full Restriction:
Regarding Shapeshifting
Species that can shapeshift should respect the following guidelines in terms of what they can/cannot shift into, and over what sort of timeframe they may do so.
Regarding Ysalamir
Any claims of ysalamir ownership should be able to be backed up by RP on Myrkr showing their removal from trees, how they are kept alive, and their removal from the planet - bearing in mind that very few knew the proper way to do that. Carrying a ysalamir 24/7 is unrealistic also - if you do carry one, it will require a nutrient frame, and constant replenishment of the food in it.
Regarding Canon Artifacts
Unique (rule of thumb: named) canon artifacts are not permitted for general Open RP use. This includes personal items (such as the Amulet of Kalara or Mace Windu's lightsaber) and vehicles (such as the Millennium Falcon or the Executor [note that vehicles of the same class are allowed: YT-1300's and Executor-class super star destroyers, in these cases]).
Regarding Superweapons
The use of Superweapons in Open RP is not allowed.

- For certain species, like the Clawdites, their abilities increase with age, but also cause them great discomfort and pain to complete their change in shape. Only very talented Clawdites can maintain their form while they sleep, and few could perfectly mimic another being. Clawdites have to focus intensely on their form to maintain, and if they are distracted risk reverting to their natural form.
- Changelings such as the Shi'ido have greater powers of shapeshifting, but they also only increase with age. Shapeshifting causes them no discomfort or pain, and they are able to perfectly mimic almost any species, sentient or not, as well as inanimate objects, to a degree. They can increase their mass, but by doing so they risk being stuck in that form for an extended amount of time.
- Shapeshifting takes time and energy to complete. It is not an instant change. Simply saying that the changeling immediately turns itself into a Rodian to hide in a crowd is not how it works. The speed not only depends on the age of the changeling, but their abilities as well. Saying you are the fastest changeling, again, is also not how this should be worked around.
- For Open RP, a good rule of thumb is to go over the change in a minimum of a single post. Be descriptive. How do others (NPCs) react to seeing a human turn into a Rodian? The focus needed is comparable to the focus needed to use the Force, and should be written out as such.
