*These rules are subject to change at any time.
Considerations
Restrictions
Allowed Ground Forces
20 - Supreme class vehicles - 150m+
300 - Heavy class vehicles - 15m+
600 - Medium class vehicles - 10-15m
1,000 - Light class vehicles - 0-10m
50 - NPC Generals
5 up to and including master-equivalent (less powerful than PC).
45 Force Sensitive to Padawan level.
1,000 - Commando Troops
Commando Troops have no capability of using the Force.
Commando Troops are highly specialized troops, and may possess advanced knowledge of skills like espionage, explosives and slicing. These are just examples.
Commandos are likely to have superior equipment to other troops.
10,000 - Elite Troops
Have no capability of using the force. Elite Troops are more highly trained than Standard Troops.
50,000 - Standard Troops
Have no capability of using the force. Standard Troops are the core of any army, be they Stormtroopers, Battle Droids, or standard Wookiee Infantry.
Any vehicle may be substituted using the following guides:
10 Heavy = 1 Supreme
5 Medium = 1 Heavy.
10 Light = 1 Medium.
Note: You cannot trade up for more Supreme-class vehicles.
Troops may be exchanged for vehicles using the following guide:
10 standard troops = 1 light vehicle
Any troops may be substituted using the following guides:
10 Elites = 1 Commando Troop member.
10 Troops = 1 Elite Troop member.
1 NPC General = 10 Commando Troops. (Up to a maximum of 20 NPC Generals can be traded down for additional troops.)
Note: You cannot trade up for more NPC Generals.
Orbital Defenses
2 - Orbital Defense Platforms per planet*
or
144 - Satellites**
or
864 - Space Mines
*Orbital Defense Platforms are defined here as any armed or military purpose station in orbit around a planet (e.g. a Golan Defense platform).
**Satellites are defined here as military-purpose artificial satellites with roughly the same armament as a starfighter.
Orbital defenses may be substituted using the following guide:
1 defense platform = 72 satellites or 432 space mines
1 Satellite = 6 space mines
Unless a configuration of orbital defenses (where you have particular defenses; where your satellites are, where the minefields are) is specifically stated in the description of what defenses you have, said defenses are assumed to be evenly distributed around the planet. This means, essentially, that it is impossible to close off a planet using these defenses. You cannot simply 'assume' your defenses happen to be wherever an enemy fleet is.
Stationary Ground Defenses
Located at points of ownership (eg: cities and faction HQs, defenses may not be placed in open terrain).
3 - Ground-based Orbital Emplacements per planet*
1 - Shield per city/base/significant holding
*A Ground-based Orbital Emplacement is defined here as any weapon capable of attacking an orbital target.
Faction Bonuses
1 - Additional orbital defense platform or equivalent per every 10 members set to default per faction.
These orbital defenses may be placed at any planet, as decided by faction leaders. However, the whereabouts of these defenses must be clearly stated and may not be moved to different planets during battle.
Considerations
- The ability to RP planetary defenses relies on the Planetary Guides to be able to tell other members what defenses are in place and where they are. Thus, if a planet is not opted into the Guide, planetary defenses are considered to be invalid unless they have been described to an attacker OOC and the attacker has agreed to take them into account. If any dispute arises from the use of such defenses on a world not opted into the Guide, those defenses will be ruled against.
- These allowances are designed to aid planetary defenders and bring a realistic approach to the game. The rules do not cover every possible option and we ask that members use common sense when applying the regulations. The troops under your command should make sense - lightsaber-wielding Wookiee fighting for the Empire would be an extreme example of troops not making sense.
- Planets with no canon indigenous population have no ability to raise and support an planetary defense force, so they do not receive a ground force allotment. However, they can still receive allotments for ground-based stationary defenses and orbital defenses.
- Planets that contain no livable land space (such as gas giants and wholly molten planets) do not receive allotments for ground-based stationary defenses. However they still receive allotments for orbital defenses.
- Planets that match both the above categories only receive the orbital defenses allotment.
Restrictions
- Troops/Technology from/inspired by sources other than Star Wars canon are disallowed.
- As with fleets, any ground troops considered to be unique 'super-weapons' are out of bounds.
- Planetary shields are not allowed.
