Khazak stood facing Anya across the seething pit. The fire burning stronger now in his yellow eyes than ever before. He glared at the woman who had once been his friend, on that fateful day on Kashyyk he had run. Unable to quell the darkness within himself Khazak had fled and snuck off world. He had gathered his hatred in preparation for this, he had always known that one day either her or Saris would come for him. Khazak yelled across to the woman "Where is Saris? Too busy to come to fight me himself? Or did you want the pleasure of killing me all to yourself Anya." Khazak said almost spitting her name. He held his right hand out and the single bladed saber flew from his belt into it. Igniting it the crimson blade emerged and contrasted to the grey around them from falling ash. He awaited Anya's response as he took a few steps away from the pit, never turning his back on her.

"I am not here to kill you, Khazak." She stood opposite the sith as the magma seethed between them, eyes locked on his as he moved away. She could feel as much as see the anger and hatred that now permeated him. "I am only here to stop you. I would prefer if you did not choose death in the process." She stood her ground on her side of the magma pool, mind centered and calm in spite of the intense heat and raging fury of the world around her. If anything, the furious intensity of the elements only seemed to rejuvenate her, though there was none of the nervous jitters that often accompanied the excess of energy before a battle. She knew he would not leave without resolving his business with her, now that she had tracked him down, so there was no reason to initiate hostility before he grew impatient and did so himself. That had been a sticking point with him. Always wanting more, faster. Never satisfied with what he already possessed. For an instant, regret touched the edge of her calm, skating by along its circumference before once again disappearing from her thoughts.

"LIAR" Khazak screamed across the pit at Anya. He paced back and forth swinging his saber at air, working himself into a frenzy. With every moment his anger built, until it coalesced into a burning feeling of adrenaline and rage within him. "Im going to kill you! Then im going to hunt him down and rip his heart out before his own eyes!" Khazak yelled to the world. He took off around the edge of the pit streaking towards Anya. Every step driven by the hatred that fueled him, every heartbeat pressing more burning blood through his veins. He bared his teeth like fangs and his eyes glowed yellow as the sun as he roared while charging. As he neared her he didn't even attempt to slow, instead he brought his blade before him and swung it downwards at her attempting to cut her from her right shoulder to her left hip. "DIE" Khazak screamed as the blade fell.

Her heart sank as his fury grew, yet her calm center remained as he charged around the pit, faster than any mortal should have been able. "Emotion, yet peace." The mantra of the early jedi order cycled through her mind as the distance closed, and she pulled her own saber free of its resting place, igniting the blade in a burst a violet light. She took a stance with her left foot leading and raised the blade in a defensive posture, catching Khazak's attack above her head and directing it aside with a slight leftward motion. She made no move to counter-attack, however, and simply kept her blade in a ready position. Though if he kept coming at the rate he was moving, he'd soon impale himself with no effort from her.

His Blade contacted hers and red and purple sparks blazed between them. As she deflected his blade he could hear her speaking to herself, reciting the Jedi code. As his blade came down to her left the turned and stepped with his left foot backwards so that her back was towards the pit of lava. He was now facing her and he threw both hands in front of himself and cast out with the force as hard as he could. Khazak used all his resentment and anger to fuel him as the threw out a mighty force push screaming "YOUR CODE IS A LIE"

The attack held great power, fueled as it was by the young man's dark fury, but little focus. It careened toward her like a boulder fashioned from pure hate, and she met it with implacable calm. "Ignorance, yet knowledge." The wave struck with the force of a hurricane, washing over her; flowing into her. She felt her opponent's power, and turned it into her own. She may not possess an innate level of power to rival that of the young man, but what she lacked in strength she had long ago made up in skill and training.
She could have released it then, reached out with a focus honed from centuries of experience to crush his heart in a single moment, but she held back. She was here to redeem Khazak, not destroy him. Instead, she held onto the power, merging it with her own and coiling it within herself; waiting for his next move.

After his attack failed Khazak stared at Anya in disbelief. Stepping forward and leading with his left foot he brought his saber at her neck from his right side. The crimson blade arcing forward in its deadly path. As it neared her Khazak assumed the saber would be blocked and his left hand which had been held near his left hip opened just slightly. The second saber that had previously been out of sight worn on his back shot into his hand. He angled his hand so that the blade was facing Anya and ignited it, the purple blade springing to life in a flash as it raced towards her.

She could already feel it in her bones, a deep ache that spread through her entire body as the building power within her threatened to break free of this prison of flesh and blood. She reacted to the new attack out of instinct and training, rather than any coherent thought of conscious plan. Her jaw clenched as her blade rose to deflect the horizontal slash over her head, her mind beginning to strain with the effort of holding back the power she continued to feed within her. Her right hand released the hilt as his left began to open, and the energy buckler strapped to her arm sprang to life as the violet blade struck toward her midsection, angled to avert the strike away from her.
"Passion, yet serenity."

Flourishing with the strike Khazak continued his physical assault. He backed off momentarily before launching a renewed assault. He slashed at her face with the purple saber cutting from left to right. immediately after his red saber attempted to stab beneath her guard towards her stomach. Continuing from there he would attempt to throw her off balance by rushing her with his sabers in a guard position across his body, before delivering a powerful downward cut with both blades towards her head.

The first two attacks were easy enough to counter, her saber once again redirected the strike at her neck, while her shield merely took a different angle to sent the stab careening off to her right. It was the third attack that caused her the most trouble, driving down hard on top of her even as her muscles began to tremble. The blow forced her left knee to the ground, even as she held the shield overhead to block it. She barely felt the impact of her knee on the stone below, such was the pain that coursed through her bones and began to drain her muscles of their strength, but she refused to release the power she held. It was still too early.
"Chaos, yet harmony."
Instead, she continued feeding the growing inferno, ignoring the agony that lanced through her being as she gritted out the fourth line of the old Jedi code. This battle was no longer merely a fight against a former student, it had become a war with the darkness within herself, the drive and desire to harness what power she had and unleash it to kill and maim and destroy. The predator in her yearned to simply extend her mind and let all that power come crashing down against the being in front of her, brushing aside whatever defenses he might erect to leave him utterly decimated in its wake. Yet it was the Jedi in her that remained in control, reigning in the errant energy and gripping it tight, regardless of the pain it caused. She was not a slave to her instincts; no, she was a Jedi, and she served the living force. This power growing within her would not be turned to the dark, regardless of how it had originated. Even the most vile occurrence could be used to serve the light, a proverb she intended to personify this day.

Khazak kept his right saber forcing her shield down, using his leverage and size to keep her pinned. While he did that he swung his left saber towards her head, forcing her to either block with her saber or be decapitated. The minute her saber contacted his he would drive his right knee in a force assisted knee towards her left temple.

"Death..." She ground out the word through gritted teeth, intercepting the incoming blade with her own saber. When her opponent's foot left the ground, she moved, pushing forward and left as she rose. She forced her shield up and angled it to push his right-hand saber further that way, almost certainly compromising both his balance and the power of the knee strike, which would now miss her temple entirely and strike her shoulder or ribcage. In either case, the pain she already felt would drown out that of whatever injury he inflicted with the attack. "...Yet the force."
Every nerve in her body felt like ice. Her bones ached with the fury of a thousand breaks, and her skin felt on fire as the energy she held fought to escape. It was only now that she began to release it, beginning as little more than a subtle glow on her skin. It grew quickly, the glow becoming a brilliant white light radiating from her in all directions, purging darkness and evil in everything it touched. It payed no heed to physical obstructions, piercing through them with little resistance, its path driven by the force. The brilliance grew to truly blinding proportions as she let loose a wordless cry.
Force light was what they called this power, though few ever had the capacity to wield it as devastatingly as she did now. It would purge the darkness from this place and everything in it, and those that could not release their evil would be purged themselves. Turned to mere husks of flesh with everything they were stripped away, carried off with the darkness they could not relinquish.
If, however, they were able to release their vile nature, they would be purged of darkness and the force, yes, but whatever else they are would remain whole. Able to live on. It was a small mercy, but if Anya ever believed in one thing, it was the power of redemption. Even in the most dire of circumstances, she gave her former pupil a choice. He could resist the purge and be destroyed, or accept it and live on as a redeemed man. It was up to him.

Due to the nature of this duel and the limited posts, I have read through the duel in its entirety in order to come up with a judgment. So without further ado, let me break down this duel.
Khazak: You were the aggressor through the fight and for that, you were awarded some points on my virtual scorecard.
Anya: You were able to negate every attack and wrote of the effect of power trapped within tearing apart your character from inside. As such, you also swung for a finale of a hit which if resolved as written, would leave Anya as a clear victor. However, in this case, the effects were not allowed to play out. As such, I have little offensive pressure from this character.
Judgement: All in all, I find that even though Khazak pressed a relentless, offensive assault, Anya held control for most of, if not the entire bought in my eyes. Because of this, I declare Anya Faye to be the winner.
