The Jedi Order

Yo i'm a Knight of the Old Republic who was frozen in stasis until he was more or less awoken by Jud, we had a short RP and now i'm stuck on Malachor V. Alaric Lamar is related to the late Vrook Lamar and is a classic example of the interventionist Jedi knight of the old republic with an unflinching belief in the righteousness of his/jedi's cause. This is eventually going to become his character flaw, that he is too militant and eventually after coming to grips with the galaxy and how its changed from his time, he might snap and lose faith in independent government and thought and eventually try to be a lightside despot and eventually fall to the darkside

The Jedi Order is officially a unified branch with a central headquarters in Felucia. There is a High Council, consisting mostly of NPCs but three PC players: Myself, Rawkill, and Serrin Roma. The Council is more of a formality, an IC figurehead. While it's not a bad idea to check with other Jedi writers when coming up with story ideas, we're not here to restrict you. But if your character does something crazy, off the wall, and truly poorly representative of the Order, then we might have to reprimand you IC, yes.

Question for anyone who knows: The Jedi Watchmen group still exists, but with no leader. Is this a thing that's still being used, or should we perhaps cast it to the wayside? Unless of course someone wants to step up and take over the group again.

I'm gonna assume then that the Jedi Watchmen group is safe to be shelved for the time being and help cut down on superfluous usergroups. For that matter, seeing as the Order now calls Felucia its home, I'm contemplating requesting the transfer of HQ rights to the Jedi Base and axing of the Felucia usergroup as well. Or just merging the usergroup membership, if that's possible, but I plan on talking to people first about that. Like the public Jedi crowd, as well as one or two specific people.

On the note of usergroups though, I'm very curious about something. @dantedeveaux and Gene Kenobi, since you're the leaders of this group, I wanted to ask you about this Order of Vandelhelm group. No one has to defend their actions, no one is being put on trial, just wanted to ask a few questions. I skimmed some of the RP of the group's members and found your characters' desires to build a "freer" Order, one less "strict" than the mainline Jedi Order. This raised an eyebrow, I admit; after the efforts in the past to first of all consolidate the Order into one and even finally name a centralized headquarters, it's a little concerning to me to see people splitting off again.

But that's what this was for, to touch base OOC and try to get some understand of each other. My questions are thus:

1. What is your guys' intended relationship with the larger Order? Branch? Allies? Avoid if possible?
2. What is your or your characters' actual perception of the JvS Jedi Order's beliefs that your characters apparently find stifling?

The second one is more interesting to me because I'm realizing that there really is no defined and easily-accessible rule set or creed for our site's version of the Order. Because honestly... I see it as fairly loose myself, especially due to Aerandir's own character, but I also understand from this that it wouldn't be readily apparent to just anyone. If anything, you guys have helped me identify a flaw in our own system that I'd like to fix. I talked it over with another Jedi writer and it's something we will work on, publicly.

To reiterate, your reasons are your own, I'm not asking anyone to change your minds, I'm just curious about some of these things for both our sakes. Honestly this is free for anyone to answer, even those not involved with the Vandelhelm group. I'd certainly like to remove some of the vagueness of how our Order operates. To the Vandelhelm group specifically, I'm not asking you to change your minds or story or anything, just seeking some mutual understanding, and I wish you the best in your RP!
