Dragging a reply to this post over here, as I'd planned to do even before reading the last note in order to clarify something that didn't seem to me to be on-topic with that thread, but felt it deserved clarification. The current iteration of what it means to be a Jedi - large armies, fleets, vast resources unbecoming for any one Jedi, is distasteful to us. We are keepers of the peace - not soldiers. This slight could have been looked over, perhaps, if such resources had been put to actual use; but, as The Shepherd said before us - Kashyyyk remains a Sith world, despite vast resources to take it. And, in reference to the Sith, their own numbers and factions have grown wildly out of proportion to Jedi forces, with Jedi being lax in actively being Jedi, and putting a stop to letting such corruption grow in their backyard. This is all incredibly inaccurate. Any armies and fleets nowadays belong to the Alliance, who are the main bulk of forces opposing the First Order in our little Civil War. And Kashyyyk? Liberated from the Sith almost a full year ago, so no, it does not remain a Sith world; actually, it belongs to the Alliance. As far as Sith numbers growing wildly out of proportion to Jedi forces... I guess you're right. Because there's hardly any Sith around anymore, and the few that are either work solo or with the First Order. With all due respect, this attempt of yours to make a "pure" Order seems based on lack of understanding of the current atmosphere. Part of that, again, is on us for not having it displayed more clearly just what kind of Jedi Order we truly are, since it's basically been a hodgepodge of various ideals across all of canon, which we hope to rectify soon and are attempting to work with to do. Not gonna lie, I feel like toes have been stepped on, especially after the lengthy efforts to try to get everyone on one page with the unification and finally centralization of the Order. Nothing wrong with a branch; we still have them, though it's mostly just Corellia. I just feel like this whole ideal of "making the Jedi pure again" seems somewhat out of nowhere, and something of an antithesis to the very difficult unification efforts. Plus, IC, what with the whole Civil War thing going on, it also feels poorly-timed. It may not be your intent to make us feel alienated, but some of your word choices and implications are giving off that vibe somewhat, I won't lie. Figure it's just better to get these feelings off my chest than bottle them up though, ya know?

The voices of your two responses sound vastly different Aer. Can you ascertain as to why?

To clarify the general context of what Dante was saying, I believe the summation of it would be that the Jedi have lost their way in the eyes of many. Yavin being one of the more prime examples in my book. I can see how there might have been a generalization taken away from it, but the explanation was not intended to alienate anyone but merely shed some light on the complications of the Jedi Order as a whole. Gene for example is not keen on how powerful the Jedi have seemingly become, and that they hold possession over entire worlds. In his father's day and in his eyes there needs to be an established government like said Alliance or the Republic that the Jedi can work in tandem with. Otherwise the point of the Jedi is moot. They should not act without dire need.
However, I do agree with Amlu in that you changed tones rather abruptly. We are not excluding anyone, and are more than willing to ally with the rest of the Jedi. However, we do not condone the more extreme methods that some of the Jedi have taken in solving the problems of the Galaxy. It's not the Jedi way to take the problems of others upon themselves. Only to defend the weak against those who would oppress and enslave them, or in the extreme case kill them. As was said: They are keepers of the peace not soldiers.

But that's exactly what we're trying to do, and are doing. The Jedi don't actually hold possession over any world, Felucia is run by the Felucian government. On an OOC level, we NPC the orbital control and such, but that's merely because no one has a character specifically running Felucia. the same is true for Corellia. The Jedi there do not run the planet, nor own it, that's all handled by Dmitri Koronov. Yeah, there is some NPCs, but you'll find for the most part, they aren't Jedi, and hold true to their political beliefs. The whole idea of the Alliance, is to give us a governmental alliance to work in tandem with. And for those choosing to ignore that stuff, there is always local governments that the Jedi can lend aide to.
Yeah, there is complications with the Jedi Order, and that is what we are trying to fix and sort out with the Jedi Creed discussion. We want to figure out what's going wrong, where people are still straying from the path, and work together to fix things.

I didn't really change tones, I just let loose some personal frustrations instead of, like I said, bottling them up. Better to get them out in the open than let things bottle up, especially now that you guys have given a response publicly that, from my end, seems based on misconceptions. I didn't mean to suggest you guys should just consider yourselves a branch of our Order, I was speaking rhetorically. I could've taken a better approach to it (thanks much Rawkill) but that's what collaboration is about, voicing thoughts and concerns and building off them. Sorry if I came off contradictory, it wasn't my intent. Rawkill put it much beter than I could've.

That might be the case, as both of you have said, but I think that this is something we need to do in order to establish something that can be built off of that is in a safe(ish) location and new. That is not to say that we won't reach out to the other Jedi for collaboration or support, but that we are choosing to act as an independent council like Dantooine's council was during the time of Revan. In truth I feel every branch of the Jedi Order, unless dictated otherwise, is a part of the greater Jedi order as a whole. I think creed is the wrong term, personally, and that it should be better decided that we decide on a code that everyone can follow and that works to keep the Jedi unified. There will be branch councils and branch orders, but that does not mean that the Order is a lost cause. If that makes sense, I'm saying a code to follow is a good place to start.

That's absolutely fair enough, I get you guys, and I'm sorry for the trouble. If anything I should be thanking you for leading us to realize our shortcomings in the senses mentioned above. Keep doing what you're doing (not that I could or want to stop you) and I look forward to hopefully collaborating with you guys in the future.

Creed/Code, they are the same basic thing. They are both dictates for which a group follows. I mean, the basic point of the discussion is to come to an agreement on a code to follow as a whole. Either way, semantics of the word aside, changed it to Code.
Admittedly, my only concern is that of an OOC perspective, in that we already have few Jedi. And trying to figure out which of your statements are purely IC and which are more OOC is difficult. I mean, yeah, we have branch orders and such IC. But I do hope, that on an OOC level, that you guys don't entirely cut yourselves off from the rest of us and do actively work to participate in the discussions in the other thread so that we don't accidentally create some large divide between us, and can maintain a partnership. After all, you guys can see problems, and I would very much like to see if we can't better incorporate these concerns into the wider order.

This is me extending a hand of collaboration from now onward. Just IC it might be hard to until we've established a functioning temple. We have no intention of isolating ourselves OOC or IC. Just to have our own place to work and grow as, as I see it, a place of learning and isolation.

Just to have our own place to work and grow as, as I see it, a place of learning and isolation. Indeed. We have no intention of completely shutting ourselves off. As Gene put it, our own place to work and grow, in the ways we see fit, in the spirit of furthering the Jedi cause by, attempting anyway, to fix some of the problems we see. A place of learning and isolation, we felt, was the best way to do this. Frankly, we anticipated backlash from what could have been perceived as an intentional fracturing of the Jedi - we may have taken too firm a stand in the assumption it would be received as such. I apologize if this is so, and extend a hand of collaboration as well. I would be bold enough to say, we may even welcome a visit from our cousins to our dusty planet. Though, this may take some time IC.

So it's time to announce a new plan going forward with the Jedi Order. Just as the Alliance is becoming the Galactic Alliance with a more centralized leadership and government, after doing a couple talks behind the scenes, the same needs to be done with the Jedi Order as well. I wouldn't suggest this lightly; those who know me best understand how hesitant I would be to suggest this in the past. But, I'm willing to take this on, however not without community support.
Aerandir Calmcacil will be named Grand Master of the Jedi Order.
This won't remove the High Council, of course, and we'll figure out the best way to approach this IC. I also want to make sure there are no reasonable objections to this from our existing Jedi writers. I'm not gonna rush right into this; going to give enough time for Jedi writers to get eyes on this and put in their two cents. Otherwise... well, some leadership changes are coming.

As a side note. Are we gonna drop all the individual academy user groups and just put all the members into the central Jedi Order usergroup? And just set the Temples as multiple Faction HQs? Just seems pointless to leave all the individual academy usegroups if their only function is to allow us to have the Temples as Faction HQs.
