So there is a stark line between the fans. Those who like the prequels and those who dont. So I want to know which of the two trilogies did you like more? Ill be straight with everyone. I liked everything about the prequels. I have always unironically liked Jar Jar and said he was a Sith Lord before it was cool. I liked Jake Lloyd, Hayden Christensen, and even the politics. It was an all around great trilogy. Not to mention the lightsaber choreography was SUPERB and was really fleshed out. My only real hate on it is Natalie Portman in ROTS and how her character really sucked. Now that said I really liked the original trilogy and still do. Its just that the prequels were better.

I will throw a vote toward the prequels! Loved the lightsaber choreography as well. They look like they are fighting much more deliberately than the erratic attacks you see in the originals. My favorite part about the prequels is the irony of the Jedi. How controlling, and rigid like the Empire they are. How even the "good guys" meaning their very best can go wrong when Order is overstepped.
Most of my complaints about the prequels are that character's attitudes varying so drastically. Such as Kenobi clinging to a probe when he's one of the relatively more cautious Jedi. Yoda is almost too helpful and wise in the prequels when you consider what a pain in the ass he is in the originals! He is a borderline senile maniac. He makes Luke work for all of his answers, desperately and frustratingly so. He is weird and quirky. All personality that he lacks in the prequels because he plays the role of the burdened wise old master. I wish that ROTS had given us a more resolute than conflicted Anakin, something closer to the Vader we know, or at least some ending scene of him doing Vader things. Being cold, calculating, ruthless, and pragmatic. Losing the emotion for the black masked heartless bastard we all love. Beginning his battle against the rebels, or finishing off the Jedi. Anything to make me feel better about the transitional jump he makes as a character from trying to save Padme, to slave to the Emperor.
Something I HAVE to point out is the action scenes! Even in complete CG the prequels dominate in action because in the originals.....dude, nobody holds their gun like a FLIPPING GUN. Watch the way the rebels and storm troopers run around with their weapons. There is no soldier like quality to it whatsoever. Not even pretending to be soldiers of any kind lol. They look like little kids in a nerf war the way they swing their weapons around. Everybody fires from the hip for whatever reason, and every scope goes to waste. You would think if your only role in the movie was to be some militant extra that you would try a little harder to mimic some discipline. Just a random grievance I thought I would throw out there after having recently rewatched them all before going to 7.
My favorite movie is ROTJ though. Favorite part in the whole series is when the Emperor leaks the intel to the rebels and they all come flocking to a fully operational half constructed death star ready to annihilate them. Puts that pressure in your chest as the good guys are getting ground to dust with 30 minutes left of movie and it is all on Luke's shoulders....only for Darth Vader to save the day!

Voting for Prequels because actual Sith, not fruity Emperor and half-assed attempt to restore the Jedi Order by flighty teenager who does exactly what his father and Qui-Gon did and disobeyed orders, but somehow gets exalted at the pillar of what a Jedi ought to be in the post-Imperial universe.

I enjoy all equally. I cannot choose a preference in all honesty. I do believe the prequels are too harshly judged and, I know shall take heat for this, but I love Jar Jar. lol

It will always be the original trilogy for me. It has the better characters, better and more memorable dialogue, stronger emotion and weight to nearly each and every scene, they just did everything so well. Even the effects in general hold up pretty solidly, including the battles. ... except the Obi-Wan vs. Vader fight but we don't talk about that one.
The prequels don't have bad story or characters, just very botched presentation. A different screenplay writer and director would have done wonders for these films, much like in the case of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The CGI isn't exactly terrible but it is a bit overused... ... and I'll admit to liking Jar Jar a bit, though on my recent marathon of the series I did see how he was maybe also a bit overused... But in the end, the films are too saturated with stilted writing, iffy acting, and some of the worst romantic scenes and dialogue I've ever witnessed for me to truly enjoy them. The only highlights are Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid, and I will say I do enjoy watching Palpatine's complete manipulation of everything, it's just unfortunate I have to sit through the rest of the schlock to be able to enjoy it.
In the end, I could sum it up succinctly as this: The prequel trilogy needs defending. The original trilogy doesn't.
OT for life.
