Faina listens closely to Nicademus' answers to those questions that he has been asked, intent on learning all that she can in order to better be prepared to fulfill her duties even though she knows that even the best of plans can fall apart at the seams once the hypothetical gives way to the real, which does not have any obligation to unfold in the anticipated patterns a plan would require of it. It is best, Faina has learned, to understand a plan enough that she is able to coordinate her efforts with those of others acting on the same plan; all the while remaining mentally flexible enough to avoid any disequilibrium a plan's unraveling might inspire.
That Nicademus has no personal score to settle comes as little surprise to Faina, for she has always felt that the Supreme Commander is, while certainly capable of feeling passionate about some things, ultimately a creature of logic and reason, his cool tactician's mind almost certainly ensuring that he makes decisions free from the petty distractions such as vendettas which might plague lesser beings. It is also those very qualities of cold logic and tactical brilliance that cause Faina to feel a faint tinge of chilly paranoia when Nicademus explains the composition of the forces he intends to send in order to fulfill the mission he has called the Imperial Knights here to discuss; for what better way would there be to dispose of those the Supreme Commander may feel have outlived their usefulness now that there are so many Dark Side Force users at his disposal? Faina mentally chides herself for the thought almost as soon as it crosses her mind, telling herself that her long time spent operating alone and allowing her darker thoughts and fears regarding the allies the First Order has welcomed into its ranks to run rampant has left her seeing things in the shadows that are, possibly, not there at all.
Almost, but not quite, smiling at the jaunty comment Aeryn makes after Nicademus has concluded his answers to the questions he has been asked, Faina clears her throat and asks a question she imagines is on the minds of all in the room, "How soon will we be departing for The Maw, sir?"

Nicademus turns to Faina who asks of the operation's departure time.
With the preparations underway, we should be departing within a few days. In the mean time, I would suggest you all get your weapons and armor checked by the master armorer. I cannot have any flaws present that could cause this entire operation to fall apart. I am not sure what resistance we may meet, but I doubt it will be pretty.
Without another word, the Supreme Commander turns back to revive the files he had on the data chip. Imperial Knights began to file out, following the suggestion of their leader to get their equipment checked and prepped for the upcoming mission. Nicademus had high hopes for the success and knew he could trust on the Imperial Knights to ensure its success.

Anya continued to watch the display and listened as more questions were asked and answered. In the end, there was little to gather from this meeting other than where they were going and what they were after, Everything else was a mystery, but that part didn't bother her. She was taught to always expect the unexpected along with the worse.
As the Knights began to file out, Anya remained behind, still looking at the images before her, squaring away all the information she could as well as thinking on possible outcomes. They wouldn't be alone, with quite the backing from the Storm troopers as well. Overall, she didn't think there would be much of an issue. She also wasn't concerned about the state of her armor. Since the attempted coup against Nicademus, Anya had not worn her armor. It was repaired since that battle and simply waited to be used again. As for her weapons, her lightsabers were kept in shape and were in perfect working order. Her chakrams were also in great condition thanks to keeping them clean and sharpened. They had proved their effectiveness when it cut through Antares's armor in that battle.
Al in all, she was ready for their departure. The only thing left was to wait until that time.

Nodding after Nicademus has given them the time frame for their departure for the mission, Faina stays in place as others begin to file out, turning to Panno after a moment to say, "Well, it looks as though we do have some time, so if that offer to teach me how to repair those scratches on my gauntlet still stands, I'd like to take you up on it."
A few days is not so bad, Faina tells herself as she waits for the Dresselian master armorer to reply, surely she can find ways to occupy herself for that long so that her mind has no opportunity to dredge up her doubts and fears to haunt her. Repairing her armor or drilling may not be as sure of a means to keep her mind quiet and still as being in the heat of battle has reliably been, but they will do, Faina reassures herself, until the next opportunity to lose herself in battle presents itself.

* Aeryn waits for the room to clear and after a few moments is standing inside with only himself, Faina and Anya left alone with the supreme commander. Walking up to Nicademus, he gives curt nod and then speaks *
" May I have your ear for a brief moment sir "

*** This takes place before the Dantooine Campaign***
* Aeryn walks the halls of the Tower of the Imperial Knights in solace. Though he had been apart of this legendary order now for a few months he still felt out of place and was kept at a distance by the other memebers. Though he had proven himself in combat and passed the trials to become an Imperial Knight, he felt as if his past was worn like a badge on his chest that the entire First Order judged him for. Plus it did not help that he had chosen to forgo wearing the armor that was expected to be worn by an Imperial Knight and to practice combat and force techniques considered by the others as unorthodox. Because of this he relapsed back into the old patterns he had come accustomed to as a Jedi Shadow, keeping to himself and working alone.
Though the Supreme Commander did not mind his actions, choosing to utilize him for specific missions that once again separated him from the other Knights; Aeryn felt as if because of this his brothers and sisters viewed him as someone who did not have to follow the rules and in turn would not be held accountable for his actions nor could be punished for not following their strict guidelines.
Aeryn pushes these thoughts out of his head as he enters the grand training arena at the top of the Tower, he had chosen to forgo his meditation that day and opt for a more physical approach to clear his head. Taking off his outerwear leaving him in only a black tank top, black combat pants and his black boots; Aeryn enters his training regime into the simulation pedestal. Stretching for a few moments before the simulation began, Aeryn then unclips his lightsabers from his belt. With the flick of his thumbs the blades spring to life. He holds his personal lightsaber in his right hand, its cyan blade glowing brightly. In his left his Imperial Knight issued lightsaber with its silver blade glows just as brightly.
At that moment, multiple training droids come to life, some with lightsabers and others with blasters. Aeryn leaps forward as a hail of blaster fire comes at him, deflecting the incoming fire, he lands in the center of the droids firing at him. Aeryn spins sweeping his sabers around him taking down the droids with one fast motion. Flipping backwards he uses the force to push another into a wall dismantling it.
Aeryn trains for the next hour non stop until the simualtion ends for there where no more training droids left to send out. He watches as they are dragged off of the training arena floor to be repaired, Aeryn takes a seat and grabs a bottle of water. Wiping his face with a towel and letting the force fill his body as he prepares for another session*

Training Room - Prior to Dantooine Campaign
Faina accepts the tongue lashing that her superior Imperial Knight, a thirty-one year old human male with reddish-brown hair and a perpetual scowl, delivers after calling a halt to the training exercise he had been conducting with Faina and two other Imperial Knights without rancor and in her customary silence. Faina knows that Macario's criticism, boiling down to the central issue of Faina's lack of unit cohesion during the exercise, is not entirely without merit. There was a time, when she first joined the Imperial Knights, that Faina could not imagine being criticized for a lack of teamwork; trained by her parents, who were Imperial Knights themselves, Faina had been instilled with an appreciation for the benefits of the Imperial Knight's focus on fighting as a unit greater than the sum of its parts, but that was long ago when things seemed much simpler. Having operated primarily alone in the recent campaigns the First Order has utilized Imperial Knights in, as well as having developed doubts as to whether the order that she was once so certain served the Light still does so now that make her uncertain of whether or not she any longer fits in with her fellow Imperial Knights that betray no hint of concern about their role in the evolving First Order, Faina knows that overcoming the habits that her solitary battles have instilled in her will take some time.
"Understood," Faina says tersely when Macario's critique has reached it's end. Faina nods to her fellow Imperial Knights after Macario, who will be acting as their commanding officer when they are deployed along with the Imperial Knights when the First Order attacks Dantooine, offers them all a few final words of advice and wisdom meant to help foster their unit cohesion. Restless, as she often is when not on the battlefield where she can set her festering doubts and fears about whether she and her Imperial Knights are not sowing Darkness rather than Light aside, where the brutal simplicity of combat has come, paradoxically, to offer her an always all-too fleeting sense of peace as she surrenders to rhythms and cadences of battle, Faina does not join her fellow Imperial Knights as they leave, instead electing to continue to train alone so that she can practice some of what Macario had suggested she work on.

* Aeryn watches the other Imperial Knights in the training room get scolded by their teacher. It was a senseless training regime that he had asked the Knights to take part in, training like that would get them killed. Holding on to the old traditional fighting styles like many of the Imperial Knights did only made them obsolete and ineffective in the new types of warfare that where engulfing the Galaxy. Aeryn knew that is why the Sith and the Knights of Ren had been allowed to run so rampantly and unchecked within the First Order. Because they got the job done. He knew that soon the Imperial Knights would be phased out into glorified body guards and nothing more.
Aeryn watches as a single female Imperial Knight stays behind to continue training. He speaks out to her*
" Its the teachings that are a problem, not your skills "

Faina arches an eyebrow inquisitively when Aeryn, whom she recognizes from having seen him during a mission briefing, suggests that Macario's instruction may have been lacking rather than her skill level, grunting noncommittally as she contemplates the merits of what he has said. Ultimately deciding that the statement is one that, as it comes down in the end to a matter of personal opinion as well as depending upon the vagaries of circumstance, cannot truly be verified in any meaningful sense, Faina gives a shrug of her shoulders and says in a non-argumentative tone suggesting that she intends to offer her own opinion rather than to refute Aeryn's own opinion, "I'm not sure I would agree. Praetoria Vonil and Praetoria Ishu are both highly effective when employed by a group of Imperial Knights that can all bear its underlying philosophy in mind, which is what Macario, our CO, was trying to teach us. I've just . . ."
Faina pauses, brows knitting as she admits what appears to be a somewhat painful truth to herself, "I've just gotten used to operating primarily alone rather than as a part of a unit, and have been having some difficulty in letting go of some of the habits I've formed, which I definitely need to do in order to be an effective part of a team. Laughing, realizing that she is more likely than not offering more of an answer than Aeryn was probably intending to invite with his remark, Faina says, Teachings are only a part of the equation anyway, in the end it always comes down to how effectively one can employ them."

* Aeryn stands up and walks over to Faina standing a few feet from her. He understood what she had said for he wasn't much of a team player as well. *
" It was wrong for me to intrude in such a way, but sometimes no matter how you try some pieces just don't fit "
* Aeryn looks Faina in the eyes, he could feel her sense of duty and passion in the force. She did not suppress her feelings like so many of the Knights did, she had an opinion and voiced it, which Aeryn greatly respected *\
" A team needs to bring balance with all those in it. Not just a forced union, you must know those you fight with just as you know yourself. You can train all the time but if the team does not have chemistry then failure is inevitable."
* Aeryn knows that anything he says could not sit well with Faina for he did speak the unorthodox*
" You know as well as I do that we are being turned into nothing more then glorified body guards and figureheads, we need to change how we do things. I think you and I could create a great team "

Shaking her head when Aeryn suggests that it had been wrong for him to intrude, Faina hopes to convey that she has not found their conversation intrusive or unwelcome. Her expression remains, however, pensive as she listens to what Aeryn goes on to say; for though she knows that he is not condemning her for not being able to assimilate with her fellow Imperial Knights, Faina cannot help but think that she is failing in some essential way, that her inability to return to the habits and practices that she had been trained to hold and hone by her parents is a betrayal of their teachings and of their faith in her. There was a time, when she had first learned of the Imperial Remnant, and of the possibility that she might serve as an Imperial Knight with honor just as her parents had before her, and as they had trained her to do, that Faina had no difficulty whatsoever in finding the kind of balance and unity with her fellow Imperial Knights that Aeryn speaks of; but now that the First Order has evolved from the Imperial Remnant, she finds it harder and harder to believe that she, or the man she once believed was the very embodiment of the Force, serves the Light at all when so many that have willingly given themselves over to the Dark Side have joined their ranks.
Aeryn's suggestion that the Imperial Knights are in danger of becoming little more than bodyguards or set pieces is a sobering one even though, in her heart, Faina suspects that they are in an even greater danger than that, and she nods grimly after a moment, overcoming her natural inclination to deny such sentiments for fear of betraying the true depths of her doubts and fears where the present and future of the Imperial Knights is concerned, to admit to at least a fraction of what she has been feeling with. It is strangely comforting to have heard another Imperial Knight express their concerns, and yet Faina cannot quite overcome her recently acquired paranoia that her doubts and fears might be sensed and lead to her banishment, or worse, and so she meets Aeryn's suggestion that he and she might together find the chemistry and sense of belonging that it would seem has been denied to both of them among their fellow Imperial Knights with obvious caution, asking him skeptically, "A great team? After I just admitted that I'm used to working alone and haven't been able to shed the habits I've acquired while working solo? What if I'm just a piece that will never fit with other pieces now? What if I'd only doom you to failure?"
"I appreciate the sentiment, Faina says, her hopefulness that she is wrong about her not being able to fit evident in her eyes despite her protest as she looks from Aeryn and down towards her lightsaber hilt, but I think you might want to look for a more balanced piece to fit with."

*Aeryn takes a few steps closer and looks her in the eyes. Just for a brief moment Aeryn becomes lost in her eyes, there was something there he could feel it. But as soon as those feelings crept up within him they are shattered by a barrage of memories from the past. Through the force Aeryn could feel a connection with Faina, for they where of the same breed. Raised from a young age to follow the path set before them and then somewhere along the way became lost and did the only thing they thought was the right thing to do at that time. Retreat into ones self and push everything else away. Choosing this path became easier as one pursued by in the end only left you empy which Aeryn felt every day. A slight smile crosses Aeryn's face before he speaks*
" I was a Jedi Shadow in the past...my whole life was centered around working alone. I understand what your feeling "
* Aeryn lets out a light laugh *
" I have made this far, i don't think hanging out with you will doom me to anything"
* Aeryn places a hand on Faina's shoulder and his other hand over her's as she holds her lightsaber *
" Faina I don't want you to change, its the fact that your not like any of the other Knights that has drawn me to you...I believe that we both have our own strengths and weaknesses. But channeling them together, we could become unstoppable. "
* Aeryn lets his hands fall to his side and looks away for a brief second. " What was happening" he thought to himself, for so long he was content with being on his own. he truly didn't care to interact with anyone but now he couldn't resist from wanting to help Faina...was it the force or something else*
" Plus I need someone else I can stir up trouble with "

Though she would not go so far as to say that she and Faina are friends, Nicolina has fought alongside the Imperial Knight often enough that she feels there is a bond between them; and that bond and its attendant sense of obligation are what had lead to Nicolina's decision to seek Faina out here at the Tower of the Imperial Knights. Having met Faina not long after the younger woman had joined the Imperial Knights, Nicolina had gotten the distinct impression from Faina's demeanor on Nirauan that something was weighing on her mind; for while Faina had always struck Nicolina as being both taciturn and having a stick lodged firmly up her bum, the Imperial Knight's reticence seemed to have a different quality to it. Having led men and women for as long as she has, in addition to having recently undergone rigorous psychological, observational, and other analytical training under Darth Rebellious after being assigned to the First Order's Security Bureau, Nicolina understands all too well the dangers PTSD, burnout, or other conditions present to members of any active military, and so would rather see that the Imperial Knight, if her gut feeling is correct, at least knows she has a sympathetic ear available to her.
Having witnessed the reactions her dress uniform can inspire, the Security Bureau not especially beloved given that one of its many roles is seeking out and dealing with any traitors among the ranks of the First Order, Nicolina elects to make her visit to the Tower of the Imperial Knights in civilian attire, wearing olive cargo pants, black combat boots, and a black top under a dark brown Neo-leather flight jacket that is bulky enough to conceal the SE-14r holstered at the small of her back. Finding Faina takes a bit of legwork, but Nicolina eventually finds the Imperial Knight in a training room.
Since Faina is speaking with someone when she finds the Imperial Knight, Nicolina does not interrupt their conversation, and instead leans casually against the wall beside the door to wait for an opportunity to make her presence known, taking her handheld datapad from a side pocket of her jacket and surfing the holonet for any interesting news that might have happened since the last time she checked.

Faina is not sure exactly when it was that it became difficult for her to trust others, difficult not to immediately question the true intentions or motives behind what those around her say and do. She was not always so mistrustful or suspicious, not always plagued with the thought that she courts paranoia or has perhaps already crossed some invisible line dividing healthy skepticism from dysfunction, which may explain why Faina finds herself tempted to accept what Aeryn tells her at face value. That her fellow Imperial Knight was once a Jedi, too, Faina is self-aware enough to realize, plays a role in the willingness she feels to consider setting aside her usual caution; for while she has always felt the Jedi often displayed a certain lack of resolve or willingness to proactively serve the Light, she has never doubted that those that serve in the Jedi Order are on the right side of the battle between Light and Dark, and so feels safe in assuming that Aeryn himself is also on the side of the Light even though she has begun to doubt that the Imperial Knights themselves, as an Order, are still firmly on that same side since the First Order has allied itself with so very many that are of the Dark Side.
Faina is clearly struggling with something as, in the silence that follows what Aeryn says, she looks from him to the lightsaber hilt in her hand with no trace of humor on her expression despite his joke. In the end it is not only what Aeryn said that sways her, but Faina's lingering memories of what it felt like when she first joined the Imperial Knights, when her trust in their Order and her fellow Knights like Xeonon was absolute and untarnished, and when she had not yet learned of how many Sith and other Darksiders had wormed themselves into positions of influence within the ranks of the Imperial Remnant before it had fell into ruin only to rise from its own ashes in the form of the First Order.
A single, silent nod conveys Faina's acceptance of what she believes Aeryn offers, the somber expression that accompanies the gesture indicating that the pact is not one that she has entered lightly. Noting the arrival of Nicolina, who she recognizes despite the fact that she has not seen the Stormtrooper lieutenant without her armor since she has seen her without her helmet one a few occasions, Faina arches an eyebrow in puzzlement as she and Nicolina have never met when not on a mission or a battlefield. Patting Aeryn on the shoulder, Faina says, "Hang on a sec, I'm going to see what this is about," as she nods towards the woman that has entered the training room.
Walking towards Nicolina, her expression revealing her confusion as to why the other woman is here given how out of practice Faina has become in policing her expressions in the company of others with how accustomed she is to being alone, Faina asks a bit bluntly, "Why are you here?"

* Aeryn takes a step back as Faina moves past him and walks towards the woman who was leaning up against the wall opposite of them. Aeryn looks over at her, and studies the women with the force. Crossing his arms across his chest, Aeryn watches from the center of the training room. He knew this woman wasn't an Imperial Knight but she was a member of the First order, even though she was likely to be aligned with them, Aeryn was not to thrilled to have an outsider in the Imperial Knights Tower. *

Nicolina chuckles with a shake of her head when greeted, not entirely unpredictably, with a pronounced lack of warmth by the Imperial Knight she has come to see. Opening her arms out after returning her datapad to a jacket pocket, Nicolina asks Faina, "What, no hug? Lowering her arms and stuffing her hands in her pockets, Nicolina arches an eyebrow as she says pointedly and ih an amused tone, Good to see you too Knight Nikulin. Had some leave time come up, was in the area, so thought I'd come and pay you a visit, Nicolina explains briefly, casually, and not entirely completely. Glancing towards the guy Faina had been talking to earlier, Nicolina, who figures that she may have to put off her plan to try and see if she cannot get a feel for whether her instincts are right about Nikulin being under some kind of stress are right since she isn't sure whether having anyone else around at the time she makes the attempt will help or hinder the effort, asks, But, if I'm interrupting something, I can always make that visit another time?"
As Aeryn studies her through and with the assistance of the Force, he will be able to discern that Nicolina herself is not attuned to the Force; and depending on how thoroughly he endeavors to peer into her character or mind, Aeryn may be able to gleam a bit of additional information, such as her unswerving loyalty to the core ideals of the First Order, and her absolute belief in its espoused intent to bring order to a universe so often lacking in and suffering from a lack of strongly enforced order. Aeryn may also be able to sense that, though she is not a Force sensitive, Nicolina has received some degree of training in keeping her mind and thoughts secure against efforts to pry into it.

The confusion evident in Faina's expression only intensifies as Nicolina, in her apparently habitual need to joke constantly, falls back on humor to express herself in a way that Faina finds both irritating and, given how it obfuscates any sense of the woman's true intentions, frustratingly baffling. It has been so long since Faina has so much as entertained the idea of having anything remotely resembling a life outside of her duties as an Imperial Knights that it takes her a moment to consider that the Stormtrooper is actually here for the, in Faina's eyes, trivial reasons that she states rather than for something more purposeful.
Lifting a hand to rub her right temple with a befuddled expression, Faina tries to fathom the possible reasons Nicolina could have for, as she had put it, visiting her given how little they know of one another as well as how very different they seem to be. Unable to think of any explanation, Faina asks, "But, what do you . . . shaking her head as it occurs to her that it is just possible that Nicolina has no ulterior motive, Faina finds herself apologizing for meeting what is more likely than not a simple, polite invitation to socialize with suspicion, saying, Sorry, um, no, you aren't interrupting anything, not really. Um, she tries to remember what normal beings might do or say in the current situation, and comes up with, so, this is Aeryn Morningstar," gesturing towards her fellow Imperial Knight before motioning for him to come over in the hope that he will join the conversation as well, ideally helping her with remembering what sorts of things beings talk about when not discussing things like combat tactics or strategies.

He hopes the gesture would direct Nicolina to him and alleviate some of social awkwardness he could sense Faina was feeling. Aeryn nudges Faina with his shoulder lightly *

Had she not seen the pronounced change in Faina's comportment when they had last met during the fighting on Nirauan, Nicolina would probably find the Imperial Knight's stiffness every bit as amusing now as she had on other occasions, but as the whole reason she has come to look in on the younger woman is to determine whether she is in danger of cracking under the inevitable pressures being a part of the First Order at this time in its history entails, Nicolina instead realizes that she will need to reign her usual irreverent brand of humor in if she is to have any hope of forging any kind of bond or connection with the Imperial Knight.
A decent enough judge of behavior to guess that Faina is less than comfortable with being the focus of attention at the moment, Nicolina follows Morningstar's lead and focuses more on him for the time being, reaching out to shake his hand and introducing herself not entirely accurately since she figures downplaying her role with the Security Bureau will avoid any discomfort it might cause the Imperial Knights, "First Lieutenant Foresi, with the 25th Stormtrooper Infantry Division from Khomm. Or just Nicolina, she says with a lop-sided grin as she returns her hand to her jacket pocket. So, Nicolina asks the duo, you two up for grabbing a drink or two, or getting something to eat maybe?"

* Aeryn couldn't honestly say he had ever been friendly with a storm trooper before. In his past years as Jedi Shadow he had fought more then he could count, but now being apart of the First Order he was working alongside them and in some cases leading them into battle. But it was never to late to overcome the habits of old, and Aeryn knew that if he was to be successful in his endeavors as an Imperial Knight he would have to learn to play nicely with the soldiers of the First Order.
Aeryn looks down at Faina and then nods to Nicolina in approval to the idea of getting a drink *
" I think I can answer for the both of us that we have had enough training for one day, A drink and some good company is much needed "
