Laid to RestLocation: Rhommamool Timeframe: Sometime between the First Order's successful acquisition of Bastion and the orbital battle raging over Csilla.
During the First Order's acquisition of the Imperial world of Bastion, High Admiral Savage felt a calling within the Force. It beckoned him back to the familair world of Rhommamool. Reluctant to leave his post above Bastion, the High Admiral loads up his apprentice and takes his Scimitar, Shadow of the Night, leaving his fleet in orbit over Bastion to maintain an Imperial presence while he is away. The Shadow exited the hangar bay of the Legacy of the Void into the blackness of space. It arced around the ship, then accelerated away from the planet. Once clear of the planet's naturally formed gravity well, the Sith Infiltrator jumped to hyperspace. As the ship settled into hyperspace, Savage sat down on the floor before the cockpit controls. He crossed his legs and allowed his eyes to flutter shut, delving into the Force. He needed to know more about the nature of the 'calling'. It's true purpose eluded him. He knew where it was leading him, and yet he was reluctant to go. Knowing what Rhommamool was symbolic of, especially to him, made him incredibly wary. It could have been the essence of his father trying to lure him back. If that was the case, then heading back to Rhommamool was not an option. So far, no such deceptions could be felt. But as a precautionary measure, Savage had decided to bring his apprentice, Cain Dracus, with him. Facing any kind of remnant of his father was incredibly risky alone. With Cain present, he knew that together, the two Sith could overcome anything that the Force or Xander decided to throw at them. Savage continued to delve deeper into the Force, searching for answers...as the Infiltrator made its way through hyperspace towards the crimson wasteland that was Rhommamool.

Location: Hyperspace Transition, on board Lord Savage's Infiltrator, Shadow of the Night.
As the ship jumped to hyperspace, Cain watched as his master sat down on the floor before the cockpit consoles. Aside from the gentle thrum of the ship beneath his booted feet, and the soft beeping of the consoles, no other noise could be heard. Aside from Cain's raspy metallic wheezing, that is. Cain thought it best to leave his master alone on the bridge of the ship. He stepped into the lift that was off to his right and rode it down to the main level of the ship. As Cain disembarked the lift in the ready room, he immediately turned right again, entering his bunk on the ship. The Infiltrator wasn't a large vessel by any means, but Cain was grateful for his ability to get away from his master and give him some space.
Truth be told, Cain hadn't seen his master this worked up over anything, ever. Even with his betrayal of Lord Grauswien, he wasn't this on edge. Sure, the betrayal ate at him for a while, but then he eventually got over it. No. This was different. And Cain didn't blame him for being on edge. Returning to Rhommamool wasn't an easy feat. That crimson ball of sand was many things to both him and his master. And at one time it was home. It was comforting and it was relaxing to head back there. But now, heading back to that wasteland...something seemed off. Especially after Xander had nearly three decades to poison the very earth he stood on. It was a very unsettling thought, knowing that they were going to set foot on Rhommamool after all these years. And Cain, despite being a ruthless Sith, knew why Viox had brought him along. Xander had been an incredibly devious foe, so there was no telling what he had left behind that had been designed to harm or otherwise influence them. He was a master of manipulation, and Viox had succumbed to his manipulations once before. Hopefully this time, with Cain present, they would both be able to help pull each other through this trial that lay ahead of them. And hopefully whatever it was that was drawing Viox to the planet had nothing to do with his father. If Xander was any way involved with this, then it most certainly was a trap. A trap most likely engineered to either kill the both of them, or bring Xander back from the realm of Chaos. Either way, neither thought was very comforting, especially the latter of the two.
Cain sank to the floor within his room, crossed his legs, and began to meditate. He wanted to be prepared to face whatever it was that was waiting for him on Rhommamool...

Savage was still seated on the floor before the cockpit controls. Physically that's where he was. Mentally, he was elsewhere completely.
Before his mind's eye, sat an image of the Imperial Council Hall in the domed city of Exodus on Rhommamool. In it's prime, the city was a marvel. Pristine, clean and shielded from the harsh desert by the large bio-dome that encompassed the entire city. Now, the city sat abandoned. The bio-dome had fallen into disrepair after the fall of the Imperial Sovereign House of Savage. Dozens of the large octagonal panels had shattered, allowing the desert into the dome. Where once beautiful green trees stood proudly lining the many walkways of the city, now decrepit and withered twigs poked through the sand. Where there once was immaculate shine of white marble etched with a beautiful gold trim, now the dirty and cracked marble sat. The tarnished gold had lost all of its luster. All that remained of a once proud people was now left to rot and decay as the planet slowly reclaimed everything. The Imperial Council Hall once stood as a pinnacle of the Imperial Sovereign House, and before that, a pinnacle of the Tyrian Triumvirate as the Grand Council Hall. Now there was nothing grand about the massive building. It appeared sad, dark and hollow. It had once housed the guests of the Triumvirate and then the Empire, and now it sat empty. Void of life and purpose. It saddened him to see how much everything had changed. As the image faded, the abrupt image of a pale figure snapped across his mind's eye.
The sudden appearance and then disappearance of the image caught Savage to snap out of his meditative state. His fierce yellow eyes snapped open, darting from side to side, trying to clear the image that had been briefly etched into his mind's eye. Whoever, or whatever that was...if felt very familiar to him. And yet it also felt very cold and dark. Repressed almost. Savage rose to his feet, stretched, the plopped down in the pilot's seat. With a weary sigh, he leaned back in the chair. They'd be on Rhommamool's doorstep within the hour. And Savage wanted to be prepared for anything.

The Shadow of the Night exited hyperspace above the crimson desert world of Rhommamool. Mixed emotions swirled about within the dark being. So much had befallen the planet during his time there. And many of the crises had left him changed, not for the better either. His long lost love had been miraculously resurrected in Redhaven during the time that Lady Lilandra Lyske, otherwise known as Deathstalker, had been discovered. The Regan Insurrection had taken place, resulting in the subsequent death of his love as well. Following that tumultuous time, the FPA had been created, and an attempt to remove the Osarian Jedi had been made. Unfortunately that endeavor resulted in defeat for the Triumvirate. In the wake of these events, Lilandra's long lost brother and sister arrived at Rhommamool and attempted to assassinate the three members of the Triumvirate, in order to re-establish the Noble House of Lyske. It failed with the death of Gemini Lyske, at the hands of Savage himself as well as the death of her brother and the imprisonment of Lilandra. Eventually, Lilandra was found innocent of all involvement. After that, there had been the Great Draconian Purge. His apprentice's parasitic life form had managed to accumulate sufficient enough biomass to create the Dracus Hivemind. The Hivemind was the governing intelligence of the Dracus parasite. It was cunning, calculated and incredibly deceitful in it's attempts to consume the planet. If Viox and his brother Vladimir hadn't have located where the Hivemind was operating out of in time, Redhaven would have fallen. In the end, Vladimir had perished, Venom Starkiller nuked the former Lady's Feign headquarters, Praxus and Amaris Jade held the line at Redhaven and Viox had been gravely injured. Despite all of that, the Triumvirate had prevailed. Several months later, Venom Starkiller and General Mathew Planius joined forces and formed the Rhommamoolian Separatist movement. This prompted the Tyrian Triumvirate to strike back against their former kin. At this time, Lord-General Praxus and Lady Lyske had been killed. News of Lilandra's demise spread quickly, and eventually reached the ears of her uncle, Cygnus Tarkin. Cygnus, mad with rage and grief, gathered his allies and laid siege to the already strained forces of the Triumvirate, siding and supporting the Separatists. Eventually the Imperial Alliance was driven off and the Separatists had been silence. But the Triumvirate was broken in the wake of these events. Eventually Regan B'ree's son rose up and instigated the Crimson Order uprising. It was staged when all three Triumvirate members had been away from the planet. As this struggle progressed to the point where in nearly succeeded, Xander Savage and the remaining forces from the Royal House of Savage mysteriously arrived. They aided with the battle against the Crimson Order and slowly began to integrate his forces with those of Rhommamool. In truth, he managed to get under the Triumvirate's skin and spread into its veins like a poison. After a few months of being at Rhommamool, Xander launched an attack against the Triumvirate by systematically slaughtering key members of the Triumvirate military. Through bribery, manipulation, coercion and threats, Xander managed to take down the fleet and standing army with little loss to himself. As a final act of manipulation, he coerced his son to join his cause and betray the Triumvirate he had served so loyally. With Xander's near flawless invasion and the betrayal of Viox Savage, the Imperial Sovereign House of Savage rose up and consumed the stagnant remains of the Triumvirate. And finally, Viox then betrayed his father and helped his son, Vallius, rebel against Xander and his Empire. Viox killed Xander during the final engagement between the Empire and the Independent Alliance. And that was when he fled Rhommamool, never to return. Until now it seemed.
As he had done countless times in the past, Savage expertly piloted the craft into Rhommamool's atmosphere. Savage peered across the crimson sands as the craft soared over the ever shifting dunes, towards the broken, skeletal remains of the once extravagant biodome over Rhommamool's former capital of Exodus. Flying past the crumbling buildings, Savage brought the craft down to settle on its former landing zone near the southern most temple by the Imperial Council Hall. The pad supports creaked and groaned under the weight of the craft, but held true. A testament to the engineering of the Tyrian people. Savage then rose from the seat and made his way over to the lift. Once on the main level of the ship, he strode out down the exit ramp. The arid wind whipped up granules of sand as it rushed past. Despite wearing his cloak with cowl raised, the sand stung against his exposed face. A feeling he had long forgotten. Though it brought back repressed memories. Savage shook his head and squinted as he looked off towards the once grand Council Hall. The heavy footfalls of his apprentice snapped him out of his reverie. Savage turned and watched his apprentice. The tattered remains of his cloak flailing about in the wind. He otherwise seemed unaffected by the sand being whipped about. His metallic wheezing was nearly drowned out by the howl of the wind. He inhaled and then exhaled loudly.
"The arid desert air...it has been too long. Despite all that has transpired, this place still feels...right. As if we still have unfinished business to fulfill."
Savage scowled darkly at his armor clad apprentice.
"This place has nothing left for us. And it doesn't feel as it did anymore...a formidable presence lingers here still. Remain on your guard. There is no telling what sort of creatures, sentient or otherwise, have taken up refuge within the ruins of the city. Whatever lead us here needs to be dealt with soon. We cannot linger for too long. There are still many dark secrets from the Overlord here..."
Savage trailed off, turned on his heel, and began walking towards the temple entrance. Cain fell into step behind his master, constantly scanning his surroundings.

Rhommamool. Grand City of Exodus. (Formerly the Grand City of Tyr). Imperial Council Hall, Southern Sith Temple.
Cain followed his master through the shattered doors of the Sith Temple. Upon entering the Temple, they duo was granted refuge from the blistering winds and pelting sands. Cain's helmet's HUD automatically compensated for the low light surroundings, switching its optical setting to the low light mode. He scanned the cavernous temple once, before speaking. His harsh and raspy metallic tone echoing softly within the confines of the large temple.
Cain Dracus:"Master, I sense that we are no longer the only ones within this temple." Cain paused briefly, extending his perceptions out. During his work with the Dracus, Cain had become rather adept at sensing other primitive beasts. "Primitive and driven by baser instincts. Surprising to sense such creatures here, though the Overlord did favor this temple over the others. Perhaps his dark taint drew the beasts here."Cain glanced over at his master, before he could question him."Tuk'ata. Ravenous hounds of the Sith. Guarding some sort of secret the Overlord had placed in this temple, no doubt."
Savage made a sharp, horizontal swipe across his throat, indicating Cain to be silent. He then motioned ahead of them. Barely discernible through the dimly lit interior of the temple, Cain spotted the glowing red eyes of a Tuk'ata as it prowled the interior of the temple. Cain finally pulled his gaze from the creature and glanced back to where his master had been standing seconds before. He had disappeared. A barely audible rustle of a cloak caught his ear. Glancing up, he saw his master up on a support beam that ran the length of the interior of the temple. Cain tensed up his legs and gathered the Force around him. In one swift motions, Cain launched himself up into the air, and landed silently on the beam, just as the Tuk'ata approached where he had been standing mere seconds before. His master motioned for him to follow and remain silent. Cain crouched down and fell into step behind his master. Hopefully they could pass through the temple without incident. The Tuk'ata were a ferocious beast, undoubtedly quite hungry. He had no intentions of tangling with the beasts. But he did make a mental note to return here at a later date to collect test subjects. He had yet to test the Dracus infection on anything living aside from human or humanoid beings. Testing on animals would most likely produce interesting results. Cain continued to follow his master.

The main atrium of the Temple spanned before them in a pyramid style. Along the outer most walls of the Temple, numerous open air levels spanned upwards. The support joist that the duo was on ran all the way across to the other side of the temple. And on the other side of the temple was the entrance into the Imperial Council Hall. And that was exactly where he wanted to be.
Savage sprinted across the beam deftly, partially crouched, trying to minimize the sound he made as he moved. Fortunately for them, the howling wind outside was slipping through the structural defects of the Temple. That was making enough background noise to mask their approach as well as Cain's raspy breathing. Upon nearing the other side, Savage leaped from the beam and landed softly on the sand covered floor. Cain followed suit. Savage glanced behind them. Noticing the Tuk'ata pack was still occupied on the other side of the Temple, Savage strode towards the door leading into the Imperial Council Hall. As Savage and his apprentice crossed through the threshold, the door automatically sealed behind them. Savage paused mid stride, knowing that they had just triggered a trap. Cain turned about and placed a clawed hand upon the door, his raspy metallic voice spoke as softly as he could muster.
"This isn't a good sign. Either the Overlord's presence still remains here, or someone else has unwillingly called this place home and is protecting it from intruders."
Savage glanced back at his apprentice.
"Neither option bodes well for us. We keep pressing forward, however. The less time we spend here, the less likely we are to stumble across anything left behind by either the Overlord or an unwilling squatter. I didn't come here for conflict...I came here to find what brought me here and then leave."
Cain turned about and nodded in agreement.
"Onward we go."
Savage strode towards the bank of turbolifts, as he had done so many times in the past. He doubted the lifts would still be operational, but if this was a trap, or they were trespassing on some unknown beings territory, then maybe some of the building's functionality may have been restored.

As Savage and his apprentice approached the turbolifts, the stench of decay and rot met his senses. He scanned the area quickly. Several dead Tuk'ata were strewn about. Evidence of combat could still be seen. Savage paused.
"It appears as though someone came through here..."
He glanced over at his apprentice, who was also examining the corpses. Something didn't sit well with him. There was still a darkness about the place, but it wasn't as overwhelming as he had expected it to be. Something was very off. Savage pressed the button on one of the turbolifts, summoning it to the ground level. As he scanned his surroundings, he watched his apprentice. Despite Cain's loyalty, he had a feeling that at some point in the near future, there was going to be a conflict between them. He shook the thoughts from his head. They had a job to do. The turbolift chimed as it arrived at their level. Savage stepped into the lift, followed by his apprentice. The next stop was Overlord's penthouse at the top of the building. Perhaps there they would discover the reasoning behind why he felt compelled to come back to this place...

Inside the lift, as it rose, Cain spoke to his master.
Cain Dracus:"Something troubles me, master. I couldn't sense it before, in the temple, but I can sense it now. A great emptiness, gnawing at the edge of my perceptions. Something is not right..."
If he had been able to elaborate on that feeling, he would have. There was a gaping hole in the Force here. And it was unnatural. Not so much as something was torn away, but more like something had left. And in leaving, it lifted a great shroud from the planet, revealing old wounds.

Savage nodded on agreement. Now that they were away from the Temple, the Force felt perverted here. As if something, or in this case, someone, was causing it. The building itself seemed to ooze this odd feeling, like something was still lingering. But it didn't feel like the essence of his father. No, that essence seemed faint. Still present perhaps, but faint enough to indicate that Xander's essence was no longer fully present. That meant either he had finally moved on or something much worse. And Savage didn't really want to find out which. His father had been a very powerful, deceitful ruler. There was no telling what sort of oddities still lingered. Whatever it was, Savage knew it didn't stem from Xander. So many other Sith had been killed on the planet, bot during the time of the Empire as well as during the Triumvirate. It wouldn't surprise him if the essences of Praxus or Lilandra still lingered faintly. And with Lilandra's unique ability to Death stalk, she probably was still around. No this was different though. Despite him residing in a pit pf the Dark Side, Savage remembered them fondly. And then it occurred to him. Perhaps the odd essence he was feeling was Kalen...only time would tell if that assumption was correct or not. And at this point, both he and Cain were too for into this to back out now.
