*Hapes' surface was marked by large oceans, forests, and mountains. Much of the surface was untouched due to the Hapan love of beauty, with Hapans preferring to stay in cities such as Ta'a Chume'Dan, the capital city of Hapes.*

After a tense, yet fortunately ultimately uneventful journey through the Transitory Mists, Faelan disembarks from his M22-T Krayt gunship and, as he adjusts the sling of his A280C blaster rifle, tells his brother, Lorcan, walking down the ramp beside him, Take Fionnuala and set up a defensive perimeter while we wait for the rest of the Mando'ade to arrive.
The ship's sensors, prior to being powered down, showed nothing of concern in the area chosen as the Mando'ade force's rendezvous point, and so Faelan has little concern that their arrival had attracted any notice from the planet's defensive forces. Successful stealthy arrival on the planet's surface or no, Faelan is a pragmatist, and so as his brother and Fionnuala move to positions enabling them to watch over the rally point, Faelan and Raichel camouflage the ship to prevent its being observed by any aerial patrols the planet's defensive forces might make while they wait for the rest of the mission team to arrive so that they can then begin conducting their operation.

As the light shuttle they had arrived in had been disguised as normal inter cluster traffic, the had landed in one of the cities. This meant however that they had to send someone out to the rally point to collect the others. A casual inspection would not show anything odd about the person. He was average enough as far as humans went that any attempt to describe him would be fairly pointless & was kitted out in simple, local hiking cloths with a small survival pack & a walking stick. His only real weapon was a small blaster to fend off any local wildlife that might get the wrong idea.
He had been close enough to the site to spot the M22 come in for a landing. A few minutes later & he spotted movement of armored figures. He very nearly sighed & returned without the backup, but followed through with the contact. He boldly strode into the small clearing, making no attempt at hiding.
-Tally Morning Gents. It is a little warm for clothes that heavy, don't you think?

Making a mental note to check the ship's sensors, which he could have sworn he checked without noting anything of concern when they had set down, Falean uses hand signals to have his men stand down as well as, for those who had been ordered to do so, to continue through with the order to secure the perimeter as the humanoid male that had apparently gone completely unnoticed by all present until now and has blithely approached their landing zone steps forward bold as you please and greets them.
Given that they were provided no details, save for the intended meeting point with the force they are joining for this venture, concerning the ways or means of making contact with that force, Faelan finds it completely within the realm of possibility that their cheeky visitor is the answer to how that contact is to be made; for he finds that explanation for the coincidental presence of the man here and now more logical than any other, especially when the man is either in possession of a singularly large pair of balls or completely and utterly devoid of the sense of danger most beings might experience were they stumble upon a group of armed and armored sentients conducting themselves in military fashion.
Pragmatic and not known for his sense of humor, Faelan nonetheless elects to remove any doubts as to their visitor's identity by ignoring his rhetorical question and instead posing one of his own that should establish rather quickly whether his suspicions regarding the man are founded, Tion'cuy?

Tally was somewhat surprised & a little disappointed that no one had spotted him until he reached the clearing. Or at least if anyone had spotted him, they didn't do anything to stop him. A little itch on his shoulder said he likely had a blaster trained on him for the last five minutes of his walk. On the plus side, it did look they had done a fairly good job of hiding their ship while he walked in toward the landing site. He wasn't surprised about passing unnoticed from any sensors though, his initial distance from the site, plus not carrying any tech but a small blaster (& a highly illegal, but hard to spot sensor baffle) would have made it incredibly unlikely.
-Tally I'm your contact, Di'kut. Who else where you expecting? The local welcoming committee? I do have to give you props for getting this far in ... well, that. This isn't that kind of raid though. if we try to blast our way in, all we are going to get is a nice warm grave. I would rather avoid that. Did any of you think to bring local clothing, or will we need to raid my closet first?

His question, after a fashion, answered, Faelan ignores their contact's jibes, dryly replying, Rest easy, your wardrobe is safe, vod. We may not have the latest Hapan fashions available, but if it's mufti we'll need, we have our own closet to raid.
After informing his team that they will be needing to change into civvies before moving out, Faelan excuses himself so that he too can change once he has asked their contact how many men are required for the venture that has brought them here.
Rejoining their contact not long afterwards, garbed now in nondescript attire from which all identifying labels have been removed and that would not seem out of place on most worlds, Faelan and those he has chosen to accompany him for the operation gather around Tally, each armed only with sidearms or, in some instances, vibroblades that, fortunately for them, are nearly ubiquitously carried in the universe they are a part of.
Faelan, his long reddish-brown hair secured in a loose pony-tail, looks comfortable enough in mufti despite the fact his demeanor has a distinctly military cast to it that no change in clothing can quite conceal, as he asks Tally, "Where to now?"
Fionnuala, a thirty seven year old female of mixed Lorrdian and Morganian ancestry with a mane of blonde dreadlocks and a body covered with floral tattoos, stands beside Lorcan, Faelan's younger brother as they wait for Tally's reply, her green eyes scanning the area around them with a quiet watchfullness that is at odds with the eternally amused upturned corner of her lips while Lorcan, more muscular than his wiry framed sibling, scowls as he openly appraises their contact as though doing so might afford him some insight into the man's character.

==Hapes Raid SL== <<106 PP; O9 Sector, Hapes>>
Tally quickly informed the group on the details on the setup on world. His crew had managed to do most of the grunt work in the computers, forging & stealing fields, but they needed people with unknown faces to serve as the insert unit. That meant Tally & at least two other people, preferably three. The hike back would take several hours, giving them plenty of time for going over the details. The short version however was that the insert group would be posing as an inspection team from a third party civilian oversight company. The company was real, as was its job, however, no actual team was scheduled for the day in question. In had all been very carefully hacked into the company's computers, but edited so that it wouldn't actually dispatch a team.
Once inside they would split into two teams. The first, with Tally, would perform a local system hack to bypass the lock to areas the inspection team shouldn't go. There were several possibilities, but the one the mission was aiming for was the 'cold room'. A large data-storage vault that held detailed backup plans for a vast number of ship systems & designs. With the first team effectively holding open the door, the second team would go in, local the data files in question & copy the data. However, the local hacks wouldn't last forever, if the second team took too long, they would be stuck inside the sub zero room until the next scheduled sweep ... in eight months. Once out, the two teams would hook back up & smuggle the data out of the building with no-one the wiser.
If everything went well at least. If someone at the company decided to do a random check & notice the dispatch order, they might have to deal with the actually inspection team showing up while they were already there. Or the local hacks might not hold as long as calculated. Or any number of other unforeseen situations. Unfortunately, the cover would mean they would be going in unarmed & in street clothes. That meant that they only had whatever weapons the building guards might be carrying around to play with. Tally had not doubt at all that he would be able to arm himself inside if needed.

Once the particulars of the operation are known, and he has an indication of how many of his men are required for it, Faelan selects Fionnuala and Lorcan to accompany him so that Tally has the three bodies he has made it known he hopes to have for the operation. Having the rest of the small team that was assembled for the journey to Hapes remain near their ship - both to avoid attracting attention by having so many 'hikers' appear from the forest at once, and to have a reserve force standing by in the event one might be needed, Faelan follows Tally as they set out, Lorcan and Fionnuala falling in behind the two as Tally continues to fill them all in on the details of the plan that has been made.
Neither of his companions, nor Faelan himself appear concerned about the necessity to acquire any weapons they might find they need through on-site procurement; the tactical concept a familiar one to each of them, and they accept that particular detail without comment or complaint.
The plan, to Faelan, seems a sound one, and after indulging in a rare unnecessary comment to indicate as much despite his certainty that their contact not only knows that the plan is a good one but is not looking for any external reinforcement, Faelan asks, "What exactly is the data we're looking for?"
Snorting softly while rolling his eyes at what seems to him an immaterial question given that they are committed to the operation, less concerned about what it is they are going to attempt to procure than how soon they will be attempting it, Lorcan inquires, "When is this faux inspection going down?"

For the first time, Tally looked less than certain.
-Tally The Inspection is happening in three days. Hopefully not enough time to notice the addition, but we couldn't be sure exactly when your group would arrive. The first bit, that is a bit complicated.
It seems that the Imperium team hadn't managed to find any solid leads on what was stored in where in the cold room. They were certain that it held more or less complete details on pretty much any Hapian space technology. Weapons, shields, sub-systems, hyperspace maps, ship designs. Everything. Unfortunately, they wouldn't have enough time for a complete search. The largest team they could get away with getting in the building was four, & Tally was wary about leaving the person holding to door open by himself. Which left two people a very limited window to grab copies of anything they could. Tally had a wish list for the things that he wanted, but he knew the chances to get even a small part of the list was very small.
The info they did have was that the data stacks were labeled by numbers. If there was a clear order to what was stored in what data stack, they hadn't discovered it. The length of the window meant that each person that entered the cold room could download a copy of one complete stack. There were, unfortunately over thirty stacks active based on the best intel they had. On the plus side, if nothing went too wrong, they could wait a few weeks & then pull the same scam for a second pass. After that the risk would likely be too high for discovery. Unless they had enough to show to justify the attempt at more passes.

Lorcan, true to form, is more interested in the broad strokes of the operation, especially when it becomes readily apparent that it is one that, if all goes as planned, will involve a lot of slicer-like work, which bores him to tears. Tuning Tally out not long after coming to the conclusion that the operation sounds like it will be exciting and tense enough for the nerds among them, he is probably going to enjoy it about as much as he understands the technical aspects of it, which is to say not much at all, Lorcan does his best to appear as though he is following along while letting his mind wander back to a recent evening spent in the company of a lovely pale skinned lass with blonde hair and a memorable lack of inhibition in the boudoir.
Faelan, not a slicer by any means, or particularly interested in the field despite his admiration for those who possess a gift for it, listens closely to Tally's description of the plan and what it entails; not only because it is his habit to do so in order to ensure he fulfills his role in whatever is being planned well, but also because he knows he will have to explain things to Lorcan, probably more than once, at some point to ensure his sibling does not do anything stupid which listening would have prevented him from even considering. Tally and his comrades sound as though they have covered all of the angles, and so Faelan, not exactly unimaginative so much as imaginative only when circumstance brings it out of him naturally, neither asks questions nor makes suggestions
Fionnuala is no more a slicer than either of the Bralor brothers, but is the only one to ask questions after Tally has explained the operation. "Any way your hackers could write a program of some kind to make all the downloading quicker, or possibly more automated? Logistically, Fionnuala thinks, having thirty stacks to work with makes things difficult even if some part of the process could in fact be automated, but it never, in her mind at least, hurts to ask, especially when she has heard of slicers working virtual miracles when given the right inspiration or idea. Her other idea probably even more far fetched, Fionnuala sounds as though she knows the probable answer as she asks, Is there any thing we can do in the three days we have to figure out the order things are stored in so that we can skip downloading any non-essential stacks?" Fewer stacks to worry about, Fionnuala thinks, mean a better chance of moving quickly enough to get all they need before the limited window of time to do all of the downloading closes.

-Tally The main problem wasn't the data stacks. We have the programs to rip through them fairly quickly. The main problem is two fold. First, the window is only about ninety seconds. The second problem is that they use a custom interface jack.
It would seem that the data stacks used a type of jack that was extreme secure, but took a few minutes to hook up properly. The Imperium team had managed to jury rig a spike that cut down the time to seconds, but it required a steady hand holding it in place while downloading. The devices they would be downloading that data onto also wouldn't be large enough to review the data on site, as it had to be small enough to sneak back out again. The only positive note was that The four cubes they were planning on sneaking in could copy out the entire cold room if one had enough time.

Falean arches an eyebrow when Tally reveals the rather small time frame available to them to complete their objective, merely accepting the information with a grunt of acknowledgement.
Fionnuala, never one to shy away from questioning things when questions occur to her, purses her bow shaped lips in thought and asks, "Is there anything we can do to extend that window? Any way to, I don't know, keep the doors open but fool the system into reading them as being closed? Canting her head to the side inquisitively as she thinks back on the last part of what Tally had said, she asks, These jury rigged jacks your team came up with, is there any way to make them less hands on? Some way to add a more secure attachment so that they only need to be jacked in rather than held in place?"

He shook his head.
-Tally No, to either one. If we bulk up the jacks, it takes too long to get them in place to download everything. We might be able to eventually figure out a way to trick the door like that. But we don't have a way of testing it until we are already on site.
Either option could theoretically be done. But the team had already run the clock out just making the improvements required to make the mission possible at all. It would have been dreadfully embarrassing to get the other team here only to tell them the mission was scrubbed. Given more time or a miraculous breakthrough, this was likely all the progress they were going to make in either of those fields.

Lorcan chuckles as he pats Fionnula on the back while saying, "Batting a thousand, Fee. Good job."
Arching an eyebrow with a bemused grin, Fionnuala notes, "Didn't notice you making any contributions, and then shrugs apologetically as she tells Tally, I'm all out of ideas, so unless you or yours have any flashes of inspiration, it sounds like we have to try for a second attempt like you said."
"Assuming that nothing goes wrong the first time of course," Lorcan adds with a sage-like nod as he strokes his stubbled chin, more to make it evident that he had been listening more closely than he might have seemed than anything.

Tally shrugs they would be getting too close to the city to continue the conversation before too much longer.
-Tally Eh, if it all goes to hell, we can just jam the doors, hole up & take as much time as we need to grab everything. The only interesting part would be getting back out.
The rest of the conversation would have to wait until the group was safely under cover at the bolt hole. They would not be joining the main Imperium group, just in case that group had been compromised & was being watched. Instead, the insert team would be hunkering down at a different safe house. The only contact would be dropping copies of the stolen plans at various dead drop locations. Hopefully, with several copies attempting to get off world, at least one would manage the trip. Tally himself would be hitching a ride out with the rest of Faelan's team.
The bolt hole wasn't much, but it was enough to keep the team well feed & comfortable until it was time for the raid. Of course, they wouldn't be returning to it once they left, so Tally would make sure nothing was left behind when the team got prepared for the mission.

Once they have reached the bolt hole Tally leads them to, Falean and his comrades prepare for the raid in their own unique ways. A loner with a penchant for brooding, Faelan spends his time familiarizing himself with any maps of the facility or other operational details Tally is able to provide them with, keeping to himself as the waiting stage begins. Fionnuala, an approachable, friendly and gregarious being by nature, though in a discreet rather than overbearing way, socializes with Tally or any of the members of the other group that might demonstrate a similar inclination to while the time away with conversation. Lorcan, easily bored, spends the time either sleeping or, if there are any females present other than Fionnuala, flirting.

Unfortunately for Lorcan, only Tally & the Bralor team were using the safe house. After providing Falean with a full copy of the info they had managed to collect, Tally retreated to a corner. He spent most of the down time fiddling with a small computer, alternating between watching saved shows, reading & playing solo games. During the meal times however, he proved fairly social with Fionnuala.
At long last it was time for them to pull off the heist. Once everyone claimed to be ready, Tally policed the entire apartment, making sure no trace of their presence remained. Everything was carefully cleaned, with any remaining objects disposed of carefully offsite. By about midday the team was standing in front of the massive dome structure that was their target. Entry should be simple enough. The pass cards they carried should allow them to walk through the front door with only minor scrutiny. True enough the first team's work held up so far, getting them past the guards & into the maze of corridors beyond.

"So far so good. Sweet," Lorcan says cheerily in hushed voice as they enter the labyrinthian collection of sterile hallways that, assuming someone was paying more attention than he had been and remembers how to get to where they are trying to get, will ultimately take them to the cold room where whatever it is that they are here to get will hopefully be gotten.
Shushing Lorcan quietly, which earns her a scowl, Fionnuala focuses on surreptitiously noting and committing to memory where any security forces or other potential threats to exfiltrating the building are stationed, patrolling, or placed so that, in the event things go very, very sideways, she will have at least a general idea of how best to approach the task of getting out in one piece.
Faelan, every bit as subtly watchful as Fionnuala, waits until they reach their first objective, where Tally will be making the hack to give the faux inspection team access to the area the cold room is located in, gives Tally a nod to begin his work, and then waves Fionnuala and Lorcan into positions to watch the hallways branching off of the one they are currently in for any signs of unwanted interruptions.

Tally nods & motions the two that would be entering the room to continue on while he set up. The timing would have to be close in order for him to hold the door open. Luckily the prep team had picked him out a nice cubical less than a hundred meters from the door. It was not, however, within direct sight. A small slicer's kit was all it took to break into the small terminal sitting at the desk. With his spotter standing around lazily, & the computer out of sight in the cubical, it would hopefully appear to anyone passing that they were simply killing some time on the clock.
Within moments, he had his preprogrammed software working on the door interlocks. Within a few moments of the second team reaching the cold room door, the entry light on it would switch to a steady green, allowing entry. Beyond the door was a fairly large room. The air was crystal clear, except at the edge of the door where moisture in the air outside began to condense into fog as it mixed with the cold air within. Inside were the thirty active data stacks, each looking like a lightsabre handle the size of a human.

Fionnuala and Lorcan, having been chosen to enter the cold room should Tally be able to open it, each give Faelan a thumbs up to indicate that the hallways they were assigned to check for any incoming security or other personnel are clear and then, when Tally gives the signal for them continue on, begin heading for the cold room while Faelan, doing his best imitation of boredom while actually remaining alert, stays with Tally to act as his spotter.
Starting their wrist chronos, set for the ninety seconds they will have to copy a data stack and get out, when the entry light comes on, Lorcan and Fionnuala, with a last quick look around at both ends of the hallway to make sure they are not about to have any unexpected company and seeing that all is clear for the moment, step into the fog at the outer edge of the door.
With no way having been found to determine what information is stored on each of the thirty stacks, Fionnuala and Lorcan each chose one at random, removing the custom interface jacks they were provided from the concealed compartments in the datapads they carry as part of their cover and beginning to copy the data stack they had selected. One hand on the interface jack to keep it steady, Fionnuala and Lorcan keep an eye on their wrist chronos as the seconds count down towards zero.
Tension makes the seconds seem to tick away slowly to Lorcan, an eternity seeming to pass at an agonizingly glacial pace to him before his wrist chrono reaches the thirty seconds remaining point, which to him means thirty more seconds remaining for someone to walk by and notice the fact the cold room is open when it should not be, thirty more seconds of being at risk. To Fionnuala, on the other hand, it feels as though the seconds tick down almost too rapidly, the thirty seconds remaining mark making her glance briefly towards the door as though anticipating it will close any second now. Looking back to the interface jack, Fionnuala wills the datatransfer complete light to come on before the seconds remaining tick down to the point they will need to leave or be trapped inside the cold room, already unconsciously beginning to lean towards the door so that she can be heading out of it as soon as the transfer is complete . . .
