It fell from the sky
Principal Authors: Jenna Cavelier I want to receive critical responses: Y I will be using standard Universe rules here: Y
Location: Arkora Time frame: Current
*Arkora. A temperate world dominated by massive pine forests that span most of the planets land surface. These pine forest are broken up by frozen mountains to the north and humid jungles and hot deserts that encompass the equator. Arkora's human inhabitants are strange compared to the rest of the galaxy, not strange as in physical appearance, but strange in their technology level. The people of Arkora have what to develop out of what would be considered a medieval of Renaissance age, do to the fact that the planet was locked in a long ice age. For most of the people on Arkora, there is nothing beyond the heavens above them but the places where the various gods and goddesses call home. Telling them of great civilizations that could travel from planet to planet might draw a laugh or two from them though.*
*The sweet scent of pines filled the cool morning air as it drifted its way down to a young woman standing along a mud covered road. Calling the narrow muddy path a road was a stretch in her opinion. The mud itself was covered everything, covering her boots to halfway up her shins, and leaving specs of dried mud on her armor. She let out a sigh and turned to where a group of villagers were fixing a bridge that had been washed out by recent heavy rains that had plagued the area. Spring, that's what they told her, spring was the reason for the heavy rains here, and here was at the base of some of the most desolate mountains in the northern hemisphere. Here, was also where she'd rather not be. For three years she trained at the military academy and graduated top of her class, only to become a babysitter for one of the most northern villages around. The village in question used to be one of the most prosperous mining villages around, but the mines had run dry, leaving the village almost completely abandoned. Letting out another sigh, the young woman turned back to watch the sun finish rising over the horizon.*
"What's that matter Jenna? Hate your day like normal."
*The voice took her by surprise. Enough so she almost pulled her sword from its sheath. She turned and saw another guard standing behind her. He was giving a toothy grin, with what little teeth he had. His less then kept armor was covered in more mud then hers, how she didn't know.*
"Yeah. Why? Do you enjoy this mud pit" *The man gave a laugh and started walking away.*
"Take the easy jobs while you can kid. You'll live longer." *Tessa watched the man walk away. Shaking her head, she stepped off the road and began to climb the steep grade next to the road until she reached the edge of a field. The warm morning sun hit her face and warmed her, shaking off the morning cold. Steam lazily drifted off the field, matching the smoke rising from the village below. She turned her attention to the last fading morning star, hoping that something at least mildly interesting would happen around here.*

Taking a small pair of electrobinoculars from a pouch on his belt, Jedi Knight Hyatt Ashton scans the pine forest stretching out like an endless sea of green on all sides of the small hill and his Mirialan companion have climbed, his tone just as heartily cheerful as ever despite the fact that they have recently crash landed on an unknown world as he says, "I've got some smoke to the east, pet. I say we head that way. With any luck it's a nice cozy little village or city, just chock full of helpful beings of some kind that have the parts we need to repair our ship."
Stepping beside Hyatt, only her eyes un-hidden by the headscarf and veil she wears, Jedi Master Sharee Grynt, says in her customarily soft and calm voice, suitable for one who has devoted her life to healing, "Given that our sensors revealed little signs of technology before the crash, I would caution you against getting your hopes up too high where finding the parts we will require is concerned. I have a feeling we will have to find a way to make do with what was not damaged beyond repair in the crash."
Rubbing his bearded chin with a slight frown, Hyatt, a tall human with long blonde hair and a muscular build that even his loose fitting robes cannot conceal entirely, nods and, with a determined nod of his head as he sets out towards the east, says cheerily, "Well, we won't find out which of us is right by standing around, will we, pet? Fancy a nice trek through a lovely forest?"
Smiling unseen beneath her headscarf, Sharee shakes her head in amusement as she follows her fellow Jedi down the hill and further into the leafy green sea of trees as she quips, "I do admire your irrepressible high spirits, annoying as they can be at times."

*Jenna admired the sunrise for a few more minutes before turning her back to the sun. She let out a sigh as she gazed across a nearby hill. The sight of movement caught her attention. Whatever, or however, it was wasn't coming from the direction of the village. Instinctively, she almost ran back to the road to inform the others. Instead she skirted along the edge of the field and into the forest in an attempt to get behind whoever it was.*
*Carefully she crept through the underbrush, barely making a sound despite her armor. After several minutes, she finally caught a glimpse of what it was she saw. Two beings were making their way through the woods. One male, one female. The clothes they wore were unfamiliar to Jenna, and the words the spoke, she couldn't understand. Quietly, she drew her sword and closed the distance until she was directly behind them. Taking a defensive position, with sword held out in front of her, she called out to them in a commanding voice.*
"Halt! State your business! And where are you from?"

Turning to look towards the voice that has hailed them in an unfamiliar language, Hyatt comically looks at the armored and sword wielding woman, arches an eyebrow inquisitively, and then looks over towards his Mirialan companion as though for help as he asks, "Any idea what language that was, pet? Languages were never . . ."
A bit quicker to realize, or perhaps simply more mindful of the dangers inherent in taking their present situation too lightly given the fact that a pointed sword almost universally means that, whatever is being said in whatever language it is being said, it is being said pointedly, Sharee lifts her hands in the, hopefully, universal gesture of surrender and intending no harm, as she tells Hyatt in a calm, soft tone, "Do try and take things a bit more seriously, Hyatt. I'm not sure what language she's speaking, but her intent is rather plain, wouldn't you agree?"
"Quite, Hyatt says cheerfully, raising his hands and turning from Sharee towards the woman with the sword, offering her his most charming and winning smile as he tries a bit of sign language while he speaks in hopes of being understood one way or another. Pointing at himself and then Sharee with one hand while keeping the other held up, Hyatt says, We, then cups the hand around his ear with a baffled expression, can't understand, he points at the woman, you at all, love. Smile widening, Hyatt holds the hand back up so that both are now aloft as he concludes in a reassuring and cheery tone, We come in peace though, so not stabbing us would be a nice start to things."

"Crap." *Jenna thought to herself. Whoever they were, they didn't speak any language she knew. Odds were they couldn't understand her either. At least they were showing a none hostile manner. The man standing in front of her appeared to be trying to communicate with her. What about she wasn't sure. Taking half a step forward, she focused her blade more on the one talking to her.*
"Okay, I don't know what you just said, but there better not be any problems." *She paused for a moment, thinking about the next course of action. Normally she could just tell them to get moving, but they couldn't understand her. Small steps were required. She tapped herself on the chest in an attempt to get her name across.* "My name is Jenna Cavelier."

Hyatt, continuing to smile cheerily with his hands help up, nods as the woman with the sword directs said sword more at him while continuing to speak in a language alien to him. After the woman taps her chest and says something that sounds to Hyatt very much like she is introducing herself, the bearded Jedi Knight beams more brightly as he says to Sharee, "Ah, I think we're making progress, pet. Clearing his throat, Hyatt keeps one hand up as he pats his own chest and says, Hyatt Ashton, and then points towards Sharee while saying, Sharee Grynt. Nodding while putting his hand back up, Hyatt wonders aloud, Do you think we can put out hands down yet, pet?"
"I'm not sure, Sharee says, her blue eyes closing as she focuses on the currents of the Force flowing all around her, allowing herself to sink into them as she adds to Hyatt, I am going to try something. Comprehend speech is not an ability that Sharee has trained extensively in, her focus having been primarily on the healing arts, though her understanding of the ability is that it is primarily telepathic in nature, which is promising given that her telepathic abilities are quite honed. Perhaps, the Mirialan thinks to herself as she focuses on the Force, she can find a way to communicate with the woman after all. Keep talking," Sharee says to Hyatt, focusing on Jenna to learn whether the Force will give her an understanding of what she says, and perhaps even allow her to speak enough of her language to be understood in return.
"Right, Hyatt says, smiling at Jenna as, keeping one hand up while he uses the other to act out what he says, Our ship, he waves the hand around like a ship that is crashing down, crashed. Making a crash landing sound, Hyatt points back in the direction he and Sharee came from, Back there. Miming trying to fix something with a tool, Hyatt frowns while saying, We don't have all we need to fix it."

*Jenna arched an eyebrow at Hyatts attempt to describe what happened to them. A strange chill ran up her spine, from what, she was unable to determine. Her eyes narrowed on the man as she focused on what he was saying about not having what they needed to fix something. Wait...did she just understand them? Her eyes widened in surprise and her hand tightened on the hilt of her sword.* "What did you just say?"

Noting the woman's hand tightening in her sword, Hyatt holds his hands in front of him in the universal chill out I mean no harm signal, smiling as cheerfully as ever as he tells Sharee, "Don't need a translation to know that her reaction suggests she's not happy, do we pet?"
"No, Sharee, looking as tranquil as ever, agrees, lips pursed in concentration beneath her head scarf as she attends to what she has sensed through the Force. We may want to hold off mention of the fact we are from off world, she suggests to Hyatt after a moment, guessing that the suggestion of that very idea Jenna had taken from Hyatt's attempt to communicate with her may be at the heart of her renewed suspicion of them. In fact, she adds, be quiet a moment while I try something." Focusing on her awareness of the Force, Sharee tries to communicate with Jenna telepathically, hoping that method of communication will prove effective. Sending the image of herself and Hyatt wandering in the forest as though lost, accompanied by the confusion and worry being lost would cause, Sharee tries to convey a scenario less world-shattering than travelers from offworld appeared to be to Jenna, hoping it will ease the tension while giving a somewhat accurate reason for her and Hyatt's appearance; for they are, after all, truly lost at the moment on this uncharted world.

*Jenna almost forgot what she was doing as her gaze darted between the two. Some how, she was entirely sure, she began to understand their language. Jenna could almost understand the woman's entire sentence when she told the man beside her that she was going to try something else. Before she could ask what, images began to flash through Jenna's mind. They were quick and blurry at first, but began to quickly make sense. Jenna tensed when the memories first hit her, not sure what to make of what was happening. The fear and surprise was quickly replaced by understanding. These people were lost and far from home. Opening her eyes, she turned to the woman and spoke in a language they could both understand.*
"You're lost, aren't you?" *She lowered her sword till it almost touched the ground and her grip on the hilt loosened.* "You have no idea how you even got here? Where are you from?"

Looking pleased as well as relieved that it seems as though they will be able to communicate verbally going forward, Hyatt smiles as cheerfully as he typically does, nodding as he confirms, "Just so, love, just so. Quite lost, and with nary an idea as to how we managed to get quite so lost as we've gotten. Tilting his head to the side as he rubs his left ear while considering the most honest answer he can give to the question of where they are from, Hyatt settles on a vague, We're from, er, the east. Right then, he claps his hands together with a grin, moving on quickly from the subject of where they are from by asking, I don't suppose we're near where you're from then, are we love? I don't know about Master Grynt here, he gestures towards Sharee, but I could sorely use a bite to eat and maybe a nice, dry place to get a bit of rest afterwards. Any chance you might able to lead us to where we might find those things love?"
