THE FORCE STRANDING
Kreya Seltorr died at the hands of one of our own. A Jedi Knight. A luminous light casted through the forest. Tye Vren looked out from underneath his robe at the older grizzled man glancing into the light of the flames, listening & feeling his surroundings. The force tremors tonight, they could all feel it. When one passes on to the living force, the very fabric of reality will flux.
We live in dark times. We can only trust the force. A shadow moved in the brush of forest, they were both watching the ceremony until Master Jendu caught sight of the shifting dark. Tye was fifteen years old, has been a Jedi Padawan for eight years. He understood the Jedi code, fear is the path to the dark side. He couldn't help but to feel the older he got, the scarier everything became. It was the weight of responsibility as a Jedi in training. He knew little of his upbringing except the fact that his parents were both non-sensitive to the force, Delton & Akrah were honest people. Raising Tye in space on board a trading freighter which they rarely ever went planet side. If it wasn't for the artificial gravity, Tye would probably be seven feet tall by now. He could still remember that day like it were yesterday, at first they thought it to be pirates raiding the station. Next thing they knew, the small family found themselves in the crossfire of war. Jendu believed it to be the will of the force, guiding him to the boy. His attention was now focused on the dark, a great disturbance fell upon him. Jendu looked to his padawan as he patted down his robe. It seems as if in my old age my memory has failed to serve me well, my lightsaber. If you will?
Of course, master. Tye said with a nod, leaving the ceremony to retrieve Jendu's saber. He thought about one day building his own lightsaber rather then wielding the Padawan short sword he was given early on. Only then will he feel like more of a Jedi, it symbolizes much more. It represents that you are ready, showing that you understand it is such more then a weapon. He could finally see the ship in the clearing, with the landing gears sunk several inches into the mud. Jendu's R3 unit was still in the X-Wing where he left the old bucket. Just across the field now. He continued on when suddenly he could hear the grinding of lightsabers in the direction of the ceremony. He stopped just several meters from the ship, he might not be ready but the time for a lightsaber was now. He grabbed the hilt from inside the cockpit, sprinting across the field when suddenly a Sith appeared, moving out from the brush of forest. The Sith ignited a red bladed saber, aiming it directly at him. They're all dead, Jedi.
His heart sunk, he didn't want to believe those poison words. He shook his head, taking a step back when another appeared from the forest. He stood no chance against even one, there were two. Everything was happening to fast, just moments ago everything was peaceful. Quiet. No one suspected an attack. Was this a nightmare? A vision to which he could not awake from? Nothing felt more real now then the cold steel of the hilt and the droplets of rain hitting his face. He shifted his thumb over the ignition button. I'm not scared of you! He shouted into the wind, despite his shaken voice. He pressed in on the red button as Jendu's lightsaber ignited into a bright green. There was nothing else in this moment that could redirect his attention, until he noticed the dark shadow walk behind the two Sith, looking directly at Tye as it passed between the two. For a moment...he could of sworn it was. No. He shook his head. That would be impossible. Kreya was dead. Even they were oblivious to the thing moving behind them. Run.
He couldn't, the voice in his head. He always thought of this moment, facing off to the death against an enemy. Something most Jedi should not ponder upon, though he was still young. Nowhere near to completing his training. Nothing could possibly change his mind after igniting his masters blade. The R3 unit booted up the ships systems when suddenly a bolt of energy struck the one Sith who did not have the saber ignited. His body was thrown several meters back into a tree. Tye fastened his grip around the hilt when the Sith sprinted at him, twisting and swinging the red blade. His form was to quick, to swift to counter to get on the offensive. He repeatedly took the heavy hits, each time struggling to keep the hilt in his hands against the heavy strikes. Then for a moment, the red blade sizzled against the green. The Sith leaned in as he laughed. You will fear me! He grabbed Tye's wrist, squeezing it tight. The Sith screamed as he leaned in closer and closer. He squeezed even more tight causing him to drop the hilt from his hand. Then suddenly the Sith pushed the sizzling red lightsaber through the padawan's chest.
Tye Awoke. Throwing off his sheets and planting the palm of his hand agains his bare chest, covering a scar that was already ten years healed. He thought of that night so much it became something of a recurring nightmere, why he'll never forget about his parents death, sometimes he's even dreamt different versions of it. Sometimes...he admits, the dreams change. Altering the small details of his memory. He then heard the sound of the blasters shooting into the Sith's chest, the echo of the fading dream leaving his waking mind. After he had fallen back into the mud. He recalled feeling his hand, full of blood and mud. He grasped his sheets firmly in his hand as he sat at the edge of his bed trying to forget it all again. He's never seen another Jedi since, nor a Sith in fact. Though he was sure there were plenty of Sith infesting the galaxy, it just wasn't his business to care anymore. Both the Jedi & Sith screwed his life over so much to the point where he lost everything. After that day, everything changed for him. For better or for worse. His alarm went off, that's what reminded him of his current hangover. What felt like beating drums in his head as he reached over to deactivate the alarm, but instead knocking the empty bottle of Vodka off of his nightstand. In frustration he lifted the device with the force, throwing it at the wall as it shattered to pieces just as his door opened to a protocol droid. Oh! How unfortunate. Master Vren, here are your work clothes & pills as requested.
The droid placed the folded clothes beside him on the bed while Tye wavered his hand while shaking his head. I told you - He shielded his eyes as the window shutters opened to the sight of Coruscant in view. He rubbed them before lowering his hand. I told you, I hate when you call me that. Throw it on the bed. The droid did as ordered, literally tossing the clothes across the room as ordered, before leaving. Tye slid his hand beneath the second pillow next to him, placing the blaster on his nightstand. He grabbed his clothes, just moments later a cloud of steam appeared coming from the bathroom. Tye worked on the Coruscant Security force under the Imperial jurisdiction, during training he could of easily scored above average because of his abilities. Getting shit on was the least of his worries, being pulled from the academy directly to advanced military training would put to much attention on him. From there, the Sith would easily discover his potential. Inquisitors oversaw the training of Elite troopers who would go on to become a Royal Guardsmen or Storm Commando. There was no better place to hide then in plain sight. He never knew what became of those Jedi, if they were all slaughtered or taken to be turned into monsters.
Monsters. What was he thinking. There are monsters in everyone. It just takes a little fear to exploit the darkness hiding inside, Tye however did not care much for power. He's never gone looking for it, nor does he ever intend to. The Galaxy can fall apart, as long as he's got his own little corner of 'normal' left. Maybe this was it, his normal. Where he would be for the rest of his life. A blue light shined through the blur of glass as the water stopped, at the same moment his door buzzer went off. The protocol droid activated the comms to which a screen appeared on the door, both sides, revealing the face of a woman on the outside, looking in at the droid. This was Hekira Katara, Tye's new Arkanian partner. A new resident to the planet, though nobody knows much about her. Is this the correct residence of Officer Vren?
The droid opened the door before answering. She stood at the door in her full officer's uniform, with that bulgy looking hat which covered her short white hair done back into a bun. The droid walked over to greet her while Tye cleaned himself up in the bathroom. Ah yes, i was told to expect you Officer Katara. Would you care for a beverage? She had a good look around at the bottles on the table. Despite his obvious drinking problem this was a rather nice looking place, a duplex apartment in these parts did not come cheap. She caught sight of a rather odd looking chest on the stone table, she brushed her fingers across it's surface. In her time, she's seen the galaxy, done it all. The chest itself still had that familiar scent about it, somewhere she knew well. She glanced over at the droid who was preparing to shut down, before straightening her back she looked back down at the chest again. It was a gift, a sign of appreciation of an Ewok elder. Made from the wood of a dead Spirit Tree.
Hekira turned around, looking at her new partner who was positioning his officers hat, straightening his belt & doing up the buttons. She had almost grown impatient in his absence, without his consent she placed her hands upon the collar of his uniform, buttoning the last button. What...would one even begin to do to gain the respect of an Ewok elder? She cleared her throat. Sorry. I expected professionalism from someone who has been in the force for several years.
She lowered her hands, looking back at him who was starring at her. Not your concern, Arkanian. I don't know who you are but know this, i did not ask to be partnered with a perfectionist. He continued to say as he undid the button. You are my partner. If you piss me off I'll have you working on Museum security before you can say Perfectionism. Got it? Now, we're being expected down at the station. I'm sure the captain won't be to happy if we're late.
Over the many years Coruscant has been under the control of the Sith Empire. Before the Sith influence, it was actually more chaotic during the tyranny of Emperor Helvlad Sinutas. A dictator ruling what was always meant to be a democracy. Sure the Sith rule is harsh, but there has been peace in the core worlds for over two decades. Before that, it was the era of the Separatists after the fall of the Republic. The Great War was fought with lightsabers, by the end of this war, The Jedi Order was no more & the Sith moved on from their old cultist ways, militarizing themselves into the grand Sith Empire that stands today. Though whatever flag reigned over this planet, the city always remained alive & in constant motion on its own. That's why Tye liked it here, when the flag changes, other planets can be affected drastically, but not Coruscant. He took the skycar into the stations hanger bay, he'd have to get use to this social thing now, considering he never really talked much to the other officers. Some of these officers were even more arrogant then an Arkanian. One of which, laughing amongst his pals across the way. Tarro Sako. King of asshats. Tye thought, walking past the group without a glance. I'm sure you've been briefed, gone through all the stuff which only requires common sense.
There was a moment when she had an expression upon her face, he was good at reading people. Something told him there were a few things he was yet to be aware of about her, and he did not like the unknown. Except, she looked at him before he could question her. I have. While this system is new to me, it's still familiar. In a way, Officer Vren. I outrank you. I served as a royal guard on Arkania. I understand i have to abide by these new rules, though i think it's in your best interest to do what I say. Do we understand each other?
He laughed and nodded to Hekira.
Oh yes. We understand each other.
The Captains office door slid open to an angry Tye who approached his superior, planting his hands across the surface of the desk. Captain Varees Onasi or just 'Veers', already knew what this was about, he's been expecting Officer Vren's unexpected, unwelcomed entrance into his office all day. It was only a matter of time. The Captain crossed his arm after taking a sip of his coffee before even caring to acknowledge Tye. Care to explain why I'm partnered with a damn protocol droid?!
She wasn't present at the moment, either way Tye did not care. Lucky for him, he was on the Captains good side. Considering Varees kept a close eye on him during his training, he was the one who got Tye into the forces when he was seventeen. Finding him on the streets next to a broken R3 unit. The Captain cleared his throat, sitting up straight before responding to him. I see you've been aquatinted with Princess Hekira Katara. Tye starred at him. She has been a royal guard for most of her life, serving next to her mother and Princess Shidona Katara who was chosen to be the Queens successor. Hekira's twin sister. Tye, she's not your permanent partner. Just for the time being, give her some slack. He grew quiet for a moment. I want you two down in the training room. She'll teach you some Arkanian hand to hand combat, you can show her what you’re capable of. It's a great bonding for new partnership. Varees smirked, giving him a thumbs up. Before going back to his files.
Not. Permanent. He said before taking his hands off the desk and turning to leave. He wasn't to fond of sticking around the station, he enjoyed being patrol by himself. There was always crime in this city. Every moment, somewhere, there is crime. Into the depths of this city, it breaths crime. He tends to blow off steam looking for trouble. He could only hope this wouldn't go on to long. He approached Hekira. Captain wants us down in the training room before going out on patrol. Also, i want to clear one thing between us. You're in my town now. You do as i say, your 'excellency'.
We'll see about that Officer Vren. She said to Tye as he started walking away. She looked around for a moment, clueless of what came next. She watched him walk away, waited before having to follow not far behind. She certainly did not walk like Royalty, Tye thought as she caught up to walk beside him. He glanced at her, if for a moment she could just drop the arrogant act, just maybe he could tolerate her presence. He opened the training room door, allowing her to enter first. Swaying his arm towards the room, treating her more like a princess then respecting Hekira as a warrior. Tye removed his officers uniform, wearing the muscle shirt beneath. He pulled a pair of gloves over his hands and tossed a pair to her.
Yes, we will see. Princess Katara.
Officer. Katara.
She tossed her uniform aside. Pulled the gloves on then raised her hands in front herself. He motioned for her to make a move. He raised his fists, keeping them close to his face. Hekira moved closer, he repositioned himself based on her approach. Though she was just sizing his skills up, the lack of discipline was clear. Perhaps he was more arrogant then Hekira. Maybe in a way, he was cheating. Taking slow, deep breaths. Suddenly she leaped at him, twisting around as the side of her foot smacked the side of his face but she did not let up as she sprung off the foot she landed on, kicking in the opposite direction. Her foot smacked against the bone of his elbow after he raised his forearms up in front of his face. Yet her recovery was quick as she landed on her good foot, her white skin already bruising. Tye's face, red all over on one side. You're fast on your feet.
He said before grappling her, she attempted to kick with her good foot but stumbled under the landing weight on her bruised foot. As he slammed her against the mat she used the falling weight, countering with her knee's, rolling back the same time she hit the floor. Tye was thrown back behind her. On the floor, he looked up at her who continued her quick recoveries despite having her best fighting style in a handicap after smashing her foot against his elbow. He rolled out of the way before he got another face full, sweep kicking her leg. Little did she know, he had enough training for the day. Approaching Hekira with his hand outstretched. As he approached, she leaped up on her feet while using the full swing of her body to kick Tye dead centre in the calf so hard his legs fell out from underneath to which her fist smashed across his face as he fell. Knocking him out cold. It was only a second later when she realized he was no longer on the offence. After several minutes she returned to the room to find him rolling over, planting his hands on the floor. Even now, she planted her foot against Tye's side, knocking him on his back again. She knelt down and pressed the ice pack agains the side of his face. Stay down dummy. This will help.
He glanced at her, not saying anything at first. He could of sworn bones were broken, he was actually impressed. For once. Considering it was her bad foot that knocked him out, he continued to think. He placed his hand over the ice pack. That almost seemed Echani to me.
He was right. The Echani were very much like the Arkanian. With some human in there, though she was full Arkanian. Some Arkanian's thought the Echani were worse then Humans, mix breeds that don't belong anywhere. Hekira did not believe that. An advanced fighting style to you. Now if you're able, i think we should finish up here.
He got up, still holding the ice pack against his face. Keep thinking that. He said after removing his gloves and throwing on his officers uniform. Tye knew he definitely did underestimate her, but he would never fight at full potential. Whatever the consequences. For all he knew, she could actually be an imperial royal guard. Why she was here still did not quite add up. He knew in some cultures, it was their way to learn about other ways of doing things. Other lifestyles. An Arkanian? That's what did not add up. Either way, he would keep a watchful eye on her. Something was strange about her, he could feel it. They returned to the entrance, he looked over noticing the Captains office door left ajar. In fact most of the officers were gone from the stations. Two more officers left the building. Tye looked at Hekira before the two of them left the building. Just in front of the building laid a dead body, the captain was knelt over the corpse. Inspecting the body, half of Tye's suspicions were correct when he identified the dead body as an Arkanian female. He glanced at Hekira for a moment before approaching the Captain who was unfolding something he'd found hanging half way out of the girls pocket.
''We found you.''
Just several seconds later, they could all hear a beeping sound. Everybody take cover!! The captain shouted, at the same moment, Tye closed his eyes. The Force repulsed towards Tye, pulling all the officers back at the same moment the corpse was blown into oblivion by the explosion of a hidden bomb. Most officers were already moving, though the Captain looked lifeless as he was closest to the blast. Tye ran to his side. Get a medic down here now!! He shouted. Attempting to look for a pulse, with one hand on his chest. Suddenly he felt the blood on his hand as it soaked through his uniform. Tye looked around, most were recovering. He hesitated at first, but with the force, he could know the truth. He had to know. Hekira knelt down, feeling his cold hand. She glanced at Tye who had closed his eyes, gently covering the Captains forehead with his hand. That's when he knew. Slowly Tye opened his eyes, lowering his head. He looked around once again, there were others who were badly injured yet well enough to get up on their own. He could already hear the sound of sirens. He looked down to his right side, in the corner of his eye as he noticed a small flame catch fire to the note. He watched as it curled, becoming black engulfed in flames. There was nothing left of the body except the stained red & charred ground in the surrounding area. Something told Tye, someone was watching him right now from afar, holding the trigger. Before he stood up he took a deep breath, this was a crime scene now & he had to contain his emotions.
The medical team had already arrived. Hekira was currently helping out the injured while Tye knelt down dead centre in the blast site. He looked around and recalled that there were several different security camera's in this large open plaza. He looked outside the blast site, there was no sign the body was dragged. Someone had to of seen something. He glanced across the plaza, there were a variety of different smaller business's in the same building directly across this one. Though he was starring at the 4th & 5th floor which was an art gallery, in fact the eyes of the beholder were now directed down to this crime scene after the blast was heard. Looking back, he noticed the stations surveillance cam, lucky for him he was out of sight considering he he did not have authority to go over the stations recording, but he did at a place such as an art gallery. Hekira Katara, with me. Now! Officer Wendal, we'll need access to the stations surveillance. Make that happen. He said pointing at Wendal.
After he was finished, Hekira followed close behind him as they made way across the plaza. She was quiet, looking back and forth to Tye. Who surprisingly was taking this well, but she knew better. The captain must of been a close friend to him. Tye. I'm so sorry.
Shut up, Katara. If i discover that you're withholding information that could of be used to save the Captain, I'll have you in shackles. Royalty or not. Clearly he was in a state of paranoia, she thought to herself. He couldn't help but to think of all the other people he has lost. Every single person important to Tye has been killed. His parents. Kreya Seltorr. Master Jendu & countless of Jedi. Now Captain Veers who was like a father figure to him. He couldn't help but to think of that shadow, what he believed to be the shadow of Kreya. The body count continued, everyone around him. Became shadows. The shadow people who would watch him. No matter who you were and what you were capable of, it felt as if the force was corrupting. Something evil follows Tye. Changing everything around him to its core. He'd sometimes wonder what would it of been like if the Jedi were still around today. If he was still a Jedi. Or maybe even if that day with his family never happened. Where he would be now, who he would be. The possibilities were endless. These thoughts were some he hasn't pondered upon in years. What seemed like an eternity, came to pass. The lift doors opened, Hekira & Tye entered the gallery. One of the workers greeted the officers. I need both surveillance footages, now.
Tye demanded. The man parted his mouth, about to speak, thinking about the terror attack just now. I'm afraid that requires - He was cut off by a man wearing a clean cut white suit with a black vest beneath and a white bowtie around his collar. Silence you bigot. The man cleared his throat. Officer Vren. You know the way to the surveillance room, help yourself my friend.
The two were already aquatinted obviously. Tye nodded before him and Hekira proceeded to the surveillance room, as the two of them entered the room, Hekira shut the door. Tye's com link alerted him of an incoming call. He motioned to Hekira to get the video set up as he took the call. It appears the body was thrown, based on where we found it. She must of been dumped out of a ship. Do you have anything?
He thought about it. Considering there must of been a bomb implanted inside of her, more then likely she was dead before she hit the ground. Unfortunately theres nothing left of the body to inspect. Whoever planned this did not intend on leaving clues behind. This...isn't right. Someone wanted to make a scene or.. Tye had a bad feeling someone had discovered the truth about him.
A diversion. Hekira said finishing what he was going to say. Instead of overviewing the recording, she took the data file itself. The two of them quickly left the premises, boarding the lift and quickly making their way across the plaza. It was a relief to see the rest of the officers up and getting medical attention. As they entered the station he recalled seeing the door left ajar to the Captains room. He stopped and looked at her, she took the lead into the office. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first until Tye slammed the door, shoved Hekira into the desk at the same time taking her blaster from its holster. She fell against the desk after getting unexpectedly pushed, then followed the cold steel of her blaster against the back of her head. If you don't spill what you know...it'll be your brain that spills.
She took a deep breath. Almost a gasp after getting the desk directly against her chest, Tye wasn't in a caring mood currently. She looked at him in the corner of her eye, she couldn't hide that she had a darkness deep down inside of her, but everyone did. Tye had a darkness resting just beneath the thin surface. She shifted her hands, slowly, against the edge of the desk and turned around to look at Tye face to face. You're right. I am withholding information, it's not what you believe it to be. The Arkanian, I've never seen her before in my life but I'm here on Coruscant investigating disappearances. I took this upon myself, not even Mother knows where i am. Just lower the damn blaster!
He shook his head.
How the hell did your search lead you to Coruscant then.
She waited but after another moment, he lowered the blaster.
Arkania is not the only case and Coruscant was not my first stop. I've been investigating these disappearances for months and the reports have been getting more and more common. You need to believe me Tye. I am here to help.
He set his hands against his waist, moving around the desk and trying to make sense of this. He recalled the note before looking back up to her, then that reminded him of the surveillance from the art gallery. There was a note beside Veers. It said ''We found you''. We need to find out who this was directed at, secondly, hand me the data recordings. She removed them from her pocket, he placed them in his own. He knew he'd get nothing more then what the station could see, it was just that these recordings were the only one's which could see what he did to save all of those officers. Using the force. If it wasn't for the explosion going off afterwards, Hekira would of been the only one to see what he did. It was a risky move. More then likely this would catch some attention, perhaps Imperial attention. Anything that could sound like it would be a rebel uprising, they were on it. I'd like to avoid the Imperials...in fact every does. There are enough well officers to keep this locked down, we're going on patrol to have a look around. Lets get to the hanger bay. Retrieve the data recording from Wendal. After our patrol we'll go over it and pick out what we can.
