So, me being me, I am curious as to who all is left from the 1.0. And I wanted to give everyone something to do and maybe get a feel for my fellow vets. Of course, that doesn't mean the newbies can't post here. All writers are welcome!
So the point of this is to find out who is all left from the start. If y'all wouldn't mind posting here with a quick little blurb about yourself and your original character and whether or not you still have them going, or if you progressed to someone different. I'll go first.
I started on JvS in '07, back when I was in high school. Before that, I had no experience in writing on an RP forum. I met up with a small group of absolutely astounding writers that have helped me and inspired me to become the writer I am today. Hell, they still inspire me to this day. Without them, I probably wouldn't be here today. Some of the vets may remember Darth Kalen, Praxus, Amaris Jade, Darth Kruhl and Lady Deathstalker. That's where my epic journey on this site began. Anyways, I've had my issues with this site, as I'm sure everyone has at one point or another. I've been on and off a lot over the years, but now I'm running pretty steady. I plan to keep on writing on JvS for as long as the site is around. I've never really interacted much with anyone else until our little group began to drift apart and move forward with their personal lives. I'm hoping this helps change that.
As for my first character, I am still writing as him. Though back then he was only known as Darth Savage. I have a few other characters on here, though I don't plan on admitting to all of them because there is no fun in knowing who I write as.
Anyways, that's my brief little blast from the past. Anyone else, feel free to post here as well. I look forward to learning more about you as a person and as your character.

Been RPing since the start o it all, in October 2007 on the very day the Universe tab opened in the Facebook app. I don't remember the exact day anymore, just that it was October. Want to say early October? Either way. I'd only just joined Facebook the previous month when a couple of friends convinced me; it was my junior year of high school. It was an invite from one of those friends that used to add just about every app they could find.
Heh. I remember when apps were a big craze on Facebook. Now it's somewhat downplayed, with only a few major games drawing any attention. I avoid all of them like the plague nowadays.
Anyway, being the Star Wars fan I've always been, I played around with it, using the Influence attacks on my friends, answering all the trivia questions and getting upset at ones that were wrong... I didn't bother with the dueling bit, tried it out with an alt I had and didn't care for it. Dexterity, the little starship game, I played with now and then, it was fine as a distraction. Then the Universe opened up. At that time, I used to draw little goofy comics or write silly stories, the latter based on other properties like Star Wars. I had been writing one and there was a gag in it with the planet Belkadan, which I ran with and what led to me setting up shop there.
I didn't take it the least bit seriously at first. I assumed it was all in goofy fun, which was mirrored by many other random posters on the boards. I didn't even know about the RP that had been happening on the knowledge boards that preceded the Universe's opening and carried over into it for some. My character was (and to many degrees still is) just a self-insert of myself for fun, until I started to realize there were people taking this seriously, and I decided to as well. Granted, our idea of "taking it seriously" back then was to write overpowered characters with all the moves and ginormous fleets, but hey, we evolved.
That character? You're looking at him. After undergoing many grueling revisions. And a name change from something stupid. What once was a late-teens Grand Master is now a late-thirties regular Master, with a heavily-revised and more-realistic backstory. Many core elements stuck around, but he's actually a character now and not a self-insert fantasy. Hell, his backstory and that of those close to him is more or less still the same, just revised.
Before joining JvS I'd actually made up some of my own little Star Wars stories for fun, based around myself and a fictional gang of friends forming our own Jedi group and kicking ass. That's what carried over into JvS and was eventually refined. A few of my major characters and NPCs, as well as ones only recently introduced to the boards proper, are actually older than JvS, part of that original group I came up with, refined and tuned up. It's really great seeing them come to life in this way, and being able to interact off other characters and the environment as well. I love that about JvS. And I'll be here until I'm no longer able to.

Old fart reporting in. I was one of the first Sith writers on the universe threads. Hell, I think I may have been the first ever to post on Dathomir, considering I laid claim to it unopposed. Also secured the Star Forge on Lehon after a particularly nasty rout by the Jedi, which may or may not have kicked off the arms race that resulted in a fleet of 50 Executor-class ships being on the low side, I claim no responsibility for that bit of mayhem. I joined the app because, hey, Star Wars on Facebook, what's not to love? And when the Universe kicked in, all the better! I'd always wanted to try my hand at RPing! A fun, creative outlet for my little nerd self.
And sweet merciful fuck, was I bad at it.
My first-ever character was a mad scientist Dark Jedi who quickly became a Venom ripoff who quickly became a Green Goblin ripoff who quickly became a Ghost Rider ripoff who quickly became a human-brain-in-robot-body who quickly died. I was a man of many horrifically unoriginal hats. Wasn't all bad, though; I met a group of writers that I clicked with and we all went gallivanting around the galaxy saving the day. One of my good, good friends came from that group. Hell, the woman that decided to put up with my bullshit for life and marry me came from that group. And for all the strife, all the drivel, and all the inanity and insanity from those first few years? I remember the bad, but I truly cherish the good. Hell, even some of the quirkier RP elements from that period have stuck around. The Venom ripoff, for example, became something unique in its own right and if Liya Tawaza and Galdaart Fel are to be believed, it went from cheesy and unoriginal to downright terrifying. The original character is still around, by the way, albeit with numerous hiatuses and enough begging and pouting and puppy-eyeing for me to break my long-standing, borderline-famous rule of keeping characters in the dust once they take a bite of it.
It's been a wild ride.

Zalor Anneri here. I've been a 1.0 veteran not long after it all started, although most of the people that posted above me had at least a six month head-start on me. Yup, I've been Zalor Anneri since 2008, back when I was just a young Padawan on Dantooine, not sure where to go or who to RP with. Luckily I found Loki, Negue Ragnos and a few other old Dantooians to hang with, and they've helped make me into the (former) Jedi Shadow I am now. I've been writing ever since I was in college, and I have to say, this website has been the catalyst to all the amazing writing I've done since, both on and off the site. Zalor and his companions were loosely based off of my own original writing ideas I've had since high school, and while I've made time to really flesh out my own original writings some, I still have plenty of love for Zalor and Co., since I technically wrote them first.
Whenever I write Zalor, I see a lot of myself in him; insecure and scared, yet courageous, headstrong and especially stubborn in spite of it. He has plenty of flaws, but he makes up for it with a lot of heart. And I mean, a LOT. He's definitely 100% lawful good: good for the sake of good, and I could never see him falling to the Dark Side. He adores his friends, and really, his love for his companions drives a lot of his actions - contrary to traditional Jedi, what with their skepticism towards emotional attachments. It certainly makes him a likable character, though. There's a lot to love about Zalor, and not much to really hate. That is, of course, unless semi-naive lawful good types annoy you. Then, you're just a bad person.
Totally kidding.

Ive been around since JvS was a trivia app on FB, before the 1.0 uni. Putzed around in the New Republic Senate boards with Jak Amdala, Adam Slane, and Vasilli Stukov...along with Vyra and Arii. Didn't have much to do with the 1.0 universe, though. Didnt really start writing in-uni til 1.5....and the rest is, as you say, history. Good or bad, I've been with the site since 2007...and plan on being here for a long time to come.

Darth Flvin here! I started just as 1.0 was starting to get really big, although I didn't post as much as I'd like. When we moved to 1.5, thats when my activity kicked up to a new level and my character had joined The Ronove Order. Brought him up from the bottom, being trained by several great characters. Unfortunately Ronove ended up dissolving and I made the switch to a Mandalorian Character, but that first group of writers that I was a part of was phenomenal.
That first character is still alive today, although I'm taking a break from him for a bit. I wouldn't call myself a Vet personally, but I have been here for a while.

I got my start in 1.0 too, with this character. JvS was my first foray into text based RP, and I'm sure that was very obvious when I first started ;p I was fortunate enough to find a fun, talented group of people to write with pretty quickly though, and like to think that writing together with them and other creative, fun, and talented people on JvS that I have also had the chance to write with has made me a better writer and RP'er.
This first character is still around, and like Adi said, I plan on being around for a long time.

I started on JvS round about late '07. At the time, I had never done any text based RP, let alone RP to begin with. JvS has remained my only consist place of writing, I have branched out once or twice, but I always remain here. I always think I am going to quit, but I never do. I retire some characters, but there are some that always stick around. I've met a lot of people on JvS, and made many good friends thanks to it, and met someone who I hold very close to my heart because of it. My first days on 1.0, I managed to run in to the CDDC, with Tanith and Co. I always remained on the edge of politics with them, setting up shop over on Caamas, before getting gifted Utapau and Sernpidal. Coming into 1.5 I retained those two worlds. Before doing away with the reminder of my terrible writing, and starting Prard'rac'helios (who eventually became Prarr'ebecc'aelios), my foray into the Chiss culture and technology. This character/account is currently my longest running to date, with Zion Morviael coming a close second. I really do think, that things would have gone a lot differently, if I had not taken some of the chances I did branching out. I have become friends with some of the best people I have ever known, and created a narrative arc which involves not only many of my characters, but those of people I know. It has also allowed me to write with many people that I once never thought I would be able to write and socialise with. I am pretty convinced I will be here until the day I die P.S: I've also been very lucky to be able to help give back to this wonderful site (through the GEC, GRPEC, PGC, RPA, HNN, Sithies) which has given me so much.

Well said Zion, well said!
I guess my post didn't suffice enough, so I'm going to post again, I first started out with text based RP in 2007 on the JvS Walls. I lost my first facebook account forever to Jedi Vs Sith because I posted so much, two other accounts also were banned. (Did anyone else have this happen) I started out with Loki, he was my first creation. I was a little crazy on 1.0/1.5 But really with the people I interacted with on a daily basis, I had to be as crazy as them or Loki would have never survived. I love the new site now as it is much more writing focused then it was in the lawless west that was early 1.5 and 1.0 It was great...this is what really launched me into the star wars fandoms and a million others, the exception being my Potter fandom which was before I knew this existed. But this site is a huge part of who I am, not only as a person but as a father. I look at this site and I think of the many friends I've made over the years. Great friends at a time when I struggled with depression I had JvS to turn to, this site means more to me than many things in my life, and while some of you only like to rub my face in the past...I implore those of you who remember me as a PGing teenager to read what I've written now, this year on this site. Because if JvS has taught anyone anything its that anyone can change, and grow. I would like to think I'm one of those people.
In the long run, I don't know what I would be like without JvS, or its influence, I hope it stays around for a long long time, its one of the longest lasting RP sites in the world. Lets keep it that way, here's to another nine years eh!?

I am really enjoying hearing everyone's personal stories of joining JvS and how they went from the chaotic days of 1.0 to what we have now. And it seems we all share the similar story of not being much of a writer until we all found this app/site. I just wanted to thank all of those who have posted and all who will post still. I like hearing of all the success and struggles as people and characters to get where you are today. I am definitely surprised as how many of you are still here since the beginning or as very near the beginning as you can be. I know that each and everyone of you has made this site what it is and has helped create the community we have now. We've all come a long way and it's been one helluva journey to get here. But it's the people like you that keep this site moving forward. Your passion and drive to keep writing amazing and outstanding storylines for everyone else to read. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing a bit of your history. I look forward to writing with each and every one of you at some point in time, with either this character or another.

Wow, where do I start?
I'm one of the old crowd--and I mean the REALLY old crowd, I was posting back when this was an app on Facebook. I've had the same character from the very start, but unlike a lot of the old crowd I've never really gotten many other characters started. I've always personally preferred to invest a lot of love and attention into one story, one arc, you know? Na'an was my go-to from the very beginning, letting me both explore a person who decidedly WASN'T me, but at the same time vent some of my own best and worst characteristics in a new setting. What else can I say? I still kind of love her.
I fell into a writing group very quickly; we bonded over a few adventures, called ourselves 'the Family', and started having some very dramatic, exciting events. That Family's spawned a big name or two, (Malora, Aherk Formidonis and his Oily, Raan Jade, Cao and Elly Shan), but I tended to chug away in my own quiet little corner of the story, enjoying just watching them and learning from them. How to capture what they did that I liked, how to avoid things I didn't, that sort of thing. I didn't need to be important to do that. Plus, they were fun, and funny, and it was nice having someone to talk to late at night as a lonely college freshman far from home.
Now, that group fell apart almost as quickly as it formed, but the events of those first six months have shaped the entirety of my writing on this site since--for better or for worse. I've always been a stickler for making RP events stick, and exploring all the nasty implications of what other people write with me. I've...earned a bit of a reputation for that, seeing as I reference plot events from back then to this DAY. I've also become a big advocate for writing elements I wouldn't have even noticed before starting to RP with the JvS crowd, like the importance of having characters change over time or how to write dialogue that sounds like real people. I'd like to think it's made me better at what I do. It's made for some interesting twists to ol' Nanii, at least...I don't LIKE all of them, but they've certainly made her interesting enough that I don't feel the urge to abandon her just yet.
I've been off and on throughout the years--there was even a period of a couple years where I disappeared from JvS communities entirely--but the fact remains that my most crucial and lasting friendships in college and beyond were made here. Some have left me behind (oh, GOD, some of the Family drama), but others have stuck around, helped me evolve as a writer and as a person, and proved time and again that they thought me worth knowing in times where I had...severe doubts about that. Hell, one of the first people I ever seriously RP'd with? I married that guy. And others are better friends still than most people I've ever known in person.
You know what they say about a friendship, that if it lasts for seven years it'll last a lifetime? Seems to have held out so far.

Started way, way back on Facebook. Before the app even had planet threads. been here since then, will be here until they kick me out & board up the doors. Not my first RP site/group, but the only one I've stuck with for one reason or another. Usually due to the other writers. There is just something about this crew. Anyway, I found it by being more or less addicted to every app game on facebook (a site I haven't been on in years, now) at the time. Didn't make the jump to the planets until they were well underway (I didn't notice them).
First Character here was a rage ball of a jedi turned sith. He is still around (after about a dozen in character name changes to keep ahead of the people trying to kill or otherwise him). He has mellowed way, way out though (80+ years, a few close calls, three kids, starting a business & founding an empire will do that to a person). I also write two of his kids now, as well as a few random strays. For some reason, I seem to be coming back to him again & again, though it must be genetics as his kids share that trait of his. My other characters tend ... well to be underused at times.

Veteran since Facebook JVS 1.0 pre-board days.
For all the chaos that it was, I do look upon those days with some measure of fondness. Creating a character in the mess of those days, and having him survive, could only mean a solid character now.
It's been an honor to share the field of battle with you all. Not to get all sappy or anything, but you guys are a third family to me; by blood, the service, and y'all. Whether you guys RP'd as my closest compatriots, or as disparate enemies of all sorts matters not. I've seen grand things go it all, and would like to see it go strong.

I started with this character back on Facebook, and though he doesn't get the attention from me that he used to get back then I still have very fond memories of writing him and who knows, maybe one day I'll bring him back to the boards.

I was here in the beginning on 1.0. I was on all the time. My writing sucked. I have word documents with my post, and I read some recently, and they suck. so. bad. (its not like my current posts are much better) but I remember how proud I was of my writing at the time. LOL. I left the site after college, got a job and had no time, plus I was chasing the ladies 24/7 and doing martial arts. Did grad school and graduated and got a job. Then the pandemic hit and started working from home and Writing Star Wars was something to relieve the stress and uncertainty when it felt like the world was ending. Dragus, Bacca, Admiral Harbid, Mortale, Kryptman, Major, Kaan, and loads of others were my crowd. I still hope they will come back to make the Order of the Eye more powerful than ever. XD Ah, the glory days!
