Greetings all. I'm new to JvS although I've done a fair bit of RP (some of it even Star Wars related) over the years. My IRL schedule is a mess unfortunately which means I can't commit to any long term endeavors but I really enjoy short interactions and stand-alone pieces that allow me to be creative while practicing my writing skills. Which leads me to two quick questions... 1. is there an appropriate place to post my backstory or does it need to come out slowly through my interactions? While the latter is more fun, it is also more difficult... 2. is there an appropriate place to post short stand-alone stories? Maybe if I were telling stories at a tavern or something.... Thanks in advance! I'm looking forward to meeting y'all.

Hi Han,
First off, your name is awesome. And I'm quite sure you're a fine writer - contrary to your claim in your bio! To answer your two questions.
I look forward to seeing you on the site! It's always good to have another roguish spacer in our midst.

Thank you sir. Your answers are about what I expected but I wanted to make sure. I'll include a bit of my backstory in the first real posting I make...
Oh, I almost forgot one final question.... I am really unclear as to how I could have a second character (PC, not NPC). I know I read something about that but... I'm unclear. Basically, Han Yolo has made one major enemy over the years, an archrival if you will, and I'd like to play his side of the 'cat-and-mouse game' the two are playing across the galaxy. A point toward what I should re-read would be immensely helpful.
Thanks again.

Writing NPCs is simple, as it's nothing more than writing a different character from your "main" account. Alternatively, you could make an "alt" PC for the sake of writing other major characters, but it's your choice. Generally speaking, these are the rules on alternate accounts, but the short version is: They can't help you in a fight but if they're complete antagonists, there's no real issue. The real thing that matters, though, is writer consent. Generally, if those you're writing with are cool with what you're doing, and you can still bend the rules a little bit, which applies in general, not just to the alt rules. Just bear in mind, if things get a little extreme or are creating an unfair advantage, then you might run into problems. Either way, welcome to the site! Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Another option that you can also consider, is using the Journal of the Whills area. It can provide you a nice concise place to put your backstory if you like as well.
As far as having another PC character goes. You can create another account on proboards to do it.
