So, Interest in this event is looking good. So now we need some ideas for Award Categories. No more vagueness guys. Put some suggestions out and we will sort through them at the end of the month (or sooner) and can get nominations for them underway after that. Try make the categories encompassing so that multiple people can be nominated for the award. boards.jedivsith.com/thread/3265/years-award-show-interest-ideas

Been quite some time since I roamed these boards, but anyone who knows me, is aware that I have been around JvS for quite some time now. I've seen quite a few of these awards ceremonies and have even been a part of several of them as well (whether it be a nominee, award winner or presenter). However, before I allow myself to reminisce about the chaotic days of old, let me go ahead and throw together what I started this reply for to begin with.
(Writer's Choice) Light Side Character Awarded to the character deemed to have best displayed and embodied the virtues of the Light Side of the Force as voted on by their peers (other writers).
(Staff Choice) Light Side Character Awarded to the character deemed to have best displayed and embodied the virtues of the Light Side of the Force as voted on by the Sithies/Awards Staff (Admins/Judges).
(Writer's Choice) Dark Side Character Awarded to the character deemed to have best displayed and embodied the virtues of the Dark Side of the Force as voted on by their peers (other writers).
(Staff Choice) Dark Side Character Awarded to the character deemed to have best displayed and embodied the virtues of the Dark Side of the Force as voted on by the Sithies/Awards Staff (Admins/Judges).
(Writer's Choice) Non-Force Character Awarded to the character deemed to have best displayed and embodied the virtues of a character with no Force alignment as voted on by their peers (other writers).
(Staff Choice) Non-Force Character Awarded to the character deemed to have best displayed and embodied the virtues of a character with no Force alignment as voted on by the Sithies/Awards Staff (Admins/Judges).
(Writer's Choice) Female Character Awarded to the Female character deemed to have been the best with story-line contribution, character development and general writing ability as voted on by their peers (other writers).
(Staff Choice) Female Character Awarded to the Female character deemed to have been the best with story-line contribution, character development and general writing ability as voted on by the Sithies/Awards Staff (Admins/Judges).
(Writer's Choice) Male Character Awarded to the Male character deemed to have been the best with story-line contribution, character development and general writing ability as voted on by their peers (other writers).
(Staff Choice) Male Character Awarded to the Male character deemed to have been the best with story-line contribution, character development and general writing ability as voted on by the Sithies/Awards Staff (Admins/Judges).
(Writer's Choice) Non-sex Character Awarded to the Non-sex character deemed to have been the best with story-line contribution, character development and general writing ability as voted on by their peers (other writers).
(Staff Choice) Non-sex Character Awarded to the Non-sex character deemed to have been the best with story-line contribution, character development and general writing ability as voted on by the Sithies/Awards Staff (Admins/Judges).
Most Improved Awarded to the writer(s) deemed to have shown the greatest improved in writing and role-play ability throughout the entirety of the judging period.
Most Helpful Awarded to the writer(s) that displayed the greatest initiative to help other writers to improved their writing ability and JvS experience.
Funniest Post Awarded for the funniest overall post/series of posts written during the judging period.
Emotional Post Awarded for the post deemed to be the most emotional and gripping written during the judging period (can be happy/sad/intense/suspenseful/etc)
These are just a handful of potential award categories for the Sithies/Awards, but it should be more than enough to get started with. If I come up with more in the future, I'll be sure to add them to this forum, but for now, the above listed is what I have. I tried to keep them simple and to the point where multiple characters/writers had the potential of being nominated for any of the categories. Finally, if there are any questions and/or concerns about what I have written, please do not hesitate to point things out or ask.

Firstly i think the judging period should cover ALL the JvS "eras".
As for categories, ive always tried to shy away from "best" and stick with "most popular" or funny categories, to keep the feeling of elitism to a minimum. I know it's an awards show to recognize the best, but we should strive to make it as inclusive as possible, especially given the low population these days. I'd love to see a mix of both writer and character awards, so the PCs and NPCs get some love too.
Some suggestions;
Most entertaining battle/combat/duel
Most enthusiastic writer
Most beloved leader
Most hilarious companion
Most reliable companion
I would also suggest we don't put too many restrictions on who can be nominated, by whom, how many times, etc. The more open it is, the better product will be produced. Yes, I know it makes it slightly harder for the admins, but it leads to a better outcome for the participants, i reckon.

Other suggestions
Throw back awards:
Most outrageous displays of god-modding in 1.0 (Must provide examples.)
Best Longest surviving RP character 1.0 to now.. (Must have another player vouch for the existence of your 1.0 Character.)
Razzie awards
Worst Sith Worst Jedi Most annoying character (NOT RPER) Most boring character Most Unoriginal character Most hilarious death Most deaths recorded in GBA Most deaths by a single RPer (Multiple characters, same RPer must be PC kills or plot kills, no self killing, to be considered it should be four or more PC in uni and based on the merits of the deaths I.E the dumber the deaths the better.)
I also think most improved should cover all era's of JvS including 1.0..But I'm biased as I would most likely be one of those nominated.

Wouldn't worst Sith/Darksider just be any Jedi/Lightsided character? And vice-versa? >.> But yeah, as to the time things would count... as long as the person is still on JvS, then we could count stuff from 1.5 and (the force forbid) 1.0 Was going to discuss that another time but yeah. Being that it's the Ten Year celebration, we can count it all. Any nomination requiring a link, will have to be submitted by the person nominating it.

Just so you all know, this project is meant to be for a bit of fun, and YOU guys are all going to be the ones judging this. And I will be the one doing all the behind the scenes stuff for this beyond that. As for the idea that each era gets its own set of awards, that wouldn't exactly be too viable. There is only a small handful of people left from 1.0, the same goes for people from 1.5. Keeping it set as open to all Era's keeps it nice and simple and, most importantly, easy for everyone involved. Plus, with only a month and a half to go, there is really not a lot of time left to organise something that large and organised. On a side note: KEEP THE SUGGESTIONS COMING PLESE!!!

Moved this over from the other thread where i accidentally posted it;
Further idea just to expand things a bit. Those categories that have been suggested so far are great. What about expanding it by having each era have its own set of awards; giving us 4 times as many awards to make;
1.0 (FB pre June 30th, 2008)
1.5 (July 1, 2008-2013ish)
2.0 (2013ish-present)
All-Time (all eras)
That way people have more chances to be eligible, and theres no issue with the old timers overshadowing the new timers and vice versa.
I know its a lot more scope, but this is the 10 year awards. Let's go for broke.

I will refer you back to my previous post where I addressed this. Separating it by Era is just not viable. There is maybe a handful of people still around from 1.0, and a vast majority of writers from 1.5 are still around and make up most of 2.0. Leaving it open for all Era's will be the best solution.

Hey folks,
I just wanted to apologise for not having done anything on this project yet. Just been dealing with the aftermath of Irma. Once power is restored and I have stable internet, I will get this going again.
Thanks,

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!!! Check the nomination threads.
The nomination period is not limited by any time period. So long as the character/writer still remains on JvS and you can decently link to the post/character, then you are welcome to nominate them/it.
AS A SIDE NOTE: IF THE PERSON HAS ALREADY BEEN NOMINATED, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SECOND THE NOMINATION OR RENOMINATE SOMEONE FOR THE SAME AWARD. EACH NOMINATION WILL ONLY COUNT ONCE TOWARD THAT AWARD.

But legitimately, most kills would probably be me. From 1.0 to now. hahahaha
