Thank you Loki for starting the original thread, and to everyone else who pitched in thoughts and ideas! I know I posted there already, but I thought a new thread would be better for visibility and hopefully get some more eyes and thoughts on this! So, JvS is over ten years old, and we gotta do something to celebrate! Here are the two ideas that gathered the most traction: 1. Testimonials - A place for members, old and new, to post about their time on JvS and what the site and its community means to them. An individual board was suggested, though I personally think a single thread would better suffice, one we could sticky for all to see! 2. A Big 1.0-style Free-For-All RP - The bigger and more popular suggestion. We would essentially roll back to how things were in the Facebook days, where the rules were next-to-nonexistent, people had tons of powers and many, many ships, and godmodding was an everyday occurrence. In this environment, it would all be in good fun, a sort of way to let loose and celebrate how far we've come. My idea was to even make its own world for it, named "Faysbuhk." It got at least one groan... but I still like it. There wouldn't necessarily be a goal or a timeframe, and it wouldn't necessarily have to be all about fighting, either, it would just be one big celebration that also happens to throw out all the rules and be ridiculously silly! I'd be more than willing to put these things together and would like to hear more thoughts! Any ideas or suggestions are welcome, and hopefully we can roll these out soon! More so for the second one, if I get some time to think I might just go ahead and put a Testimonials thread somewhere. Thank you for reading, and thank you for being a part of JvS! 🌹

I can't say as I see regressing our progress as being a celebration of our progress, especially since there's nothing preventing a "closed" RP collab, where rules can be thrown out entirely. (as has happened at least once to my knowledge I'll link it when I find it again.) That said, I'm relatively new to the site, and didn't participate in the 1.0 days, so I don't have anything to use as comparison except examples of terrible RP.
I think it'd be interesting to post a short interaction between the writer and their chosen character, as the two discuss the character's development, or lack there of, as time progressed in the real world.
That said, I'm a tad to busy surviving RL to participate much, if at all, in any celebrations; so y'all knock your selves out and have fun however you want'. That is the point of a celebration after all, to have fun.

I'm as cynical as anyone when it comes to 1.0 and how things went, but this sort of RP would definitely be something I'm interested in. Considering the major headache of 1.0 was the need to keep pace with all the escalation in order to preserve your RP and your locations, and since that would be missing here, it would probably be a lot more fun this time around. Especially because a lot of us here are far more respectful now than we were then; I'm sure we'd be able to have a lot more fun goofing off with each other than we did having to be constantly checking in and fending off invasions and the like.
And of course I'm completely approving of the testimonials idea as well. Place means a lot to me, so I'd love to gush a bit along with my fellow writers.

That's not a bad idea! I think we could make it part of the Testimonial thread if people want to do that, or they can make a more simple personal account. (Somewhat related, might as well plug the Final Sithies here as a thing people can have fun with to celebrate ten years as well!)
