The remainder of the IF fleet stood in Manaan orbit. Orders from the highest authority were received. Action began without delay. A groups of shuttles broke off and descended to the surface. The stream of shuttles to and back from the surface was continuous but suddenly screeched to a halt. Several ships, where the bulk of shuttles descending to the surface and returning had originated from, broke off from the pack, as the rest advanced, firing. The breakaway group made the jump to hyperspace

Tipping his hat with a bow to his staff

With that the ultimate sacrifice was made, as all ships self-detonated. The explosion was apocalyptic, lighting up Manaan orbit and hurling massive pieces of shrapnel in every direction. The scene was arresting to speak mildly and offered direction to those who strived to illustrate will. Orbit would require a massive cleanup after what played out. But what lie beneath the spectacular display was the terrifying reality that an entrenched army of fanatically loyal troops remained on the surface bent on going down hard and taking as many with them to hell as possible....

Entering orbit the Wayfarer screeched nearly to a stop. Literal asteroid belts of debris littered the field. They proceeded with exceptional care. One piece of wreckage was avoided only to be confronted by another. Both Ciarán and Laoch joined any free hand on the ship to marvel at the path of destruction left in the wake of the ultimate sacrifice made by the already celebrated Admiral of the FleetÓ Miadhacháin, Admiral Lee Brave and there crew. Ciarán’s chin lifted and his lips pursed as fire lit up his eyes. Laoch stood observing with jaw agape. Any crew member with a hat on removed it. Several shed tears. These men had served the IF with their hearts and souls for decades. Ó Miadhacháin was almost a fixture in Manaan orbit. One man saluted. All, including Ciarán and Laoch followed suit. And all this because a group of ill-informed hotshots had attacked Manaan by surprize and with no legitimate reason. At last they passed the unspeakable mess and descended towards the surface. One thing did not escape the eyes of any caught up in grief; aside the destruction, nothing was posted in orbit

Committed to the now fossilized monster IF and linked to Selkath rebels on the planet surface the lonely satellite circles Manaan's empty orbit picking up the whole lot of nothing going on and transmitting said information down the line

Perhaps a half hour following the arrival of the two Wayfarer a second slips quietly into Manaan orbit from hyperspace. Lining up with the others the three lie dormant as the wires between the three come alive with activity as plans are solidified. Small, quiet and horrifically dangerous, an interesting mix. One of the Wayfarer broke off and made the descent to the surface

Lieutenant M.J. Plunkett, the command officer of the Lámh Dhearg Manaan stands over his crew, an iron hand watching diligently. Plunket was old school IF from the days many claim as legend and scarcely anybody really understand. To this end Plunkett's mind slipped, if but for a moment. Secrecy has its' benefits and indeed many a sorrowful flaws. The mind wandered but observant eyes absorbed everything around him

Aboard another Wayfarer, Lieutenant Éamonn O'Dubhuidhe CO of the Óglaigh na Iarndóideanna squad paces in thought. Pacing he watched attentively. A veteran of many a war he knew the game. And the game he played well. He had fought under the Old man every major engagement the IF played a part in. O'Dubhuidhe mourned the Old man's loss but saw a future in this odd couple Ciarán and Laoch. In them he could see a window to a glorious past. Now he wondered what the future had in store for this wide universe

They deploy their fighters, making enough for three squadrons, which depart orbit for the planet below, splitting off into wingpairs to make a full scan and survey of the watery world.

The six small capital ships of the Vegemite flotilla remain on station above Ahto City in high orbit above the watery world of Manaan.While they maintain their vigil, their squadrons are off patrolling the world, and making surface scans, mapping the planet's oceans and ensuring security is maintained. A light presence for such a massive world, to be sure, but the work wasn't urgent, and time was a luxury the Vegemite Enclave had.A flicker of pseudomotion denotes the arrival of a large mass. Not a ship, but a station, coming in on its own hyperdrive, the new Golan VIII moved into position above Ahto City. The station would be renamed Ahto Control, and take care of traffic control and if necessary, interdiction measures.

The Wild Boar popped into the Manaan system just long enough to recharge its hyperdrive and drop off a single vessel. The red painted craft was pre-cleared by the Golan VIII in orbit, and headed planetside, while the Mandalorian frigate headed off out of the system back to hyperspace.
