The Turbulent-class Star Destroyer, known as a 'pocket Star Destroyer,' was among the new generation of ships built sometime after the Yuuzhan Vong War that exemplified the change in military strategy from large powerful warships to smaller fleets composed of fast and agile vessels. It was built by the Imperial Remnant as a new generation of Star Destroyer that eventually led to the creation of the Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer and eventually replace the aging Imperial-class Star Destroyers. It was first fielded during the Second Galactic Civil War where one of them, the Bloodfin, served as the flagship of the veteran Gilad Pellaeon, head of state for the Imperial Remnant.
The Turbulent-class Star Destroyer, for its size as a pocket warship, sported an impressive armament, starfighter complement, and troop capacity. 40 heavy turbolasers batteries, 45 turbolasers cannons, 25 ion cannons, 10 assault concussion missile tubes, 10 tractor beam projectors was the full armament of this warship, all evenly distributed on both ports and starboard sides. It could carry a complement of 72 starfighters and 2,000 troops, making it an ideal vessel for only ship-to-ship combat, with a sub-average rating for planetary invasions.
