The Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer was a new line of warships introduced sometime during the early days of the Fel Empire. It was built to replace aging models of other Star Destroyers within the Imperial Navy and was soon followed by the Ardent-class Fast Frigate. As a result of its successful and more powerful design, the Pellaeon-class replaced the Imperial-class Star Destroyer as a mainline warship for the Imperial Navy. It had optimal shielding, advanced weaponry, slick design and ample starfighter components that made more than a match for any warship of its time. Its name alone denotes that it was named after the famous Gilad Pellaeon, whose efforts built the foundations for the future Fel Empire.
The Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer had an impressive armament, but an average starfighter complement, and troop capacity. 40 heavy turbolaser batteries, 30 turbolaser batteries, 30 ion cannons, 25 proton torpedo launchers, and 10 tractor beam projectors were the full armament of this warship, all evenly distributed on both ports and starboard sides. It could carry a rather small complement of 48 starfighters and 2,700 troops, making it more an ideal vessel for ship-to-ship combat, but not so much for planetary invasions.
